Paper Craft Crew 77

So, I think I mentioned that we were supposed to get snow yesterday. They said it was supposed to start around 12:00, well it started at 8:00 and boy did it snow! There was about 5 inches on the ground when they let us out of work at 2:15. My usual 10 minute ride home was a leisurely 40 minutes. It was nice to get out of work early though because I came home and crafted the evening away! My boss called me and asked to put on the company website that we would have a delayed opening today at 12:00 which is very convenient because I’m taking Andrew to the airport this morning. Hopefully the roads will be cleared and it will be an uneventful trip. He is going to LA where it is warm and I’ll admit I’m a little jealous! 🙂

Today is Wednesday so that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This time around we have a fun simple sketch for you…

PCCCS077 1-22-2014

I was feeling nostalgic when I sat down to make my card so I dusted off an old favorite of mine! My card base is Very Vanilla Card Stock and the background is a piece of Chocolate Chip that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I keep using the reverse side of the folder, I like it better for some reason! My tag is created using the Angled Tag Topper Punch and the stamp is the “Vintage” Young Vermillion, I love the image, it’s so detailed and he looks great stamped in Chocolate Chip. The larger flag and the stars are Pistachio Pudding, the stars are punched out with the Merry Minis Punch pack and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is also stamped in Chocolate Chip. The three banners are from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** and are stamped in Pistachio Pudding and punched out with the Banner Punch**. I really do still love that little bird and he looks right at home with the modern elements on the card. So there you have my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch. Don’t forget to visit the blog and check out this week’s other inspiration from the rest of the Design Team and enter your card in the gallery so I can see your masterpiece. Thank you for spending some time with me today, I hope that you have a good Wednesday! 🙂

Fab Friday 32

Happy Black Friday! Did you do any midnight shopping? I was good and stayed home, I had too much other stuff going on yesterday! I finished cutting out the pieces for the additional bookmarks for work, I just have to assemble them this morning. I also didn’t end up staying home for Thanksgiving. My good friend Sandy invited me to her house for dinner with her family. I had a wonderful time and she is an amazing cook. I don’t think I will have to eat at all today! LOL! I hope that all of you had a very nice Thanksgiving too!

Not only is today Black Friday but it’s also time for Fab Friday! This time around we have a color combo for you…

Fab Fri 32 Colors 11-29-2013

I had a vision of what I wanted my card to look like, I just had no idea how much I would end up pulling out to get it that way! My card base is Coastal Cabana Card Stock and the background is a piece of Real Red that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up I flagged a piece of Gumball Green and adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Now for the collage which starts off with a Tea Lace Paper Doily. I used some old and some new stamps to create the collage and whole bunch of punches! In there are stamps from the “Vintage” Tags ‘Til Christmas, Best of Christmas, Very Merry Tags, “Vintage” Stitched Stockings and Festive Flurry Stamp Sets and the Christmas Tagables Photopolymer Stamp Set. To punch them out I used the “Vintage” Large Tag, Ornament and Stocking Builder, Decorative Label, Petite Curly Label, Mosaic, Christmas Ornament, 7/8″ Scallop Circle and 1″ Circle Punches. Now that’s a lot of punches and stamps! LOL! They are all stamped in Coastal Cabana, Real Red and Gumball Green. Oh, and there is a snowflake from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits peeking out too! I really do love the randomness of the collage look and yes, it’s a lot of product but it’s also a lot of fun! Thank you for checking in with me to see my Design Team card for the Fab Friday color challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what my talented teammates have done with the colors and enter one of your creations in the gallery so we can see your take! I hope that you enjoy your shopping if you are doing any and have a Fab Friday! 🙂

Fab Friday and Still More Pics!

Wee! It’s Friday! And yes, I have a few more pictures from Convention. I promise, they are almost finished! I was supposed to go see my brother in Pennsylvania tomorrow but I have been told that he is coming up here so I guess that would be a little pointless. Instead, I’ll go and see my friend Kim in Manhattan, that will be loads of fun! So I was lucky enough to meet the wonderful Sarah Douglas. She is such a nice person and she gave some really informative demonstrations. Here we are on the night of the 25th Anniversary party…

Sarah Douglas SU! Conv 2013

She had a really nice dress on too and her little dimple is so cute!

And here is the Fab Friday Design Team. It was so awesome to meet everyone in person. The only one missing was Amanda, but she was on vacation so it’s all good! What a great bunch of people!

Now for today’s post. It’s Fab Friday! This week we have a sketch for you to play with…

Fab Fri 23 Sketch 7-26-2013

Clean and simple, woo hoo! The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I used a piece of So Saffron for the background and stamped the greeting from the Happy Day Stamp Set in Basic Black right on it. Up top I used the Tea Lace Paper Doily that I used for the mask on the card from Friday’s card. It was spritzed with Bermuda Bay Re-Inker from a Stampin’ Spritzer and I trimmed the top and side a little. In the middle is a piece of Bermuda Bay that I punched out with the  2 1/2″ Circle Punch and embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The flower are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are stamped in Bermuda Bay on “Vintage” First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper. I cut them out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A teeny Subtles Designer Series Button is adhered with a Mini Glue Dot in the middle of each one. I love the color combo and the “Vintage” First Edition DSP is still one of my favorites. Thanks so much for stopping by to see my Fab Friday Design Team Card for this week’s sketch challenge. Stop by the blog to see what my other creative team mates have done with the sketch and enter yours in the gallery so you can be a Fab Fave! Mojo 300 & Sneak Peek!

Hello and happy July 4th! It’s a little overcast here this morning but I think they said it’s supposed to clear up later. I have two BBQ’s to go to today and I’m looking forward to seeing friends and having some yummy food! What are all of you up to?

Today I have my post for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge 300. WOW! 300 sketches, that’s a lot! I have participated in 80 of those 300, that’s a lot too! This week’s sketch is provided by Julee Tilman…

Mojo300

I think I have said it before but I love all of the layers in the Mojo sketches! My card starts off with a base of Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. I used a piece of the Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper for the first layer of the background and a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe that is flagged on the bottom for the next. The circle of Pistachio Pudding is cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies and embossed with the new Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from the 2013 Holiday Catalog. For the greeting I used the One In a Million Stamp Set, pierced around the edges and backed it with a piece of Baked Brown Sugar. A Subtles Designer Series Button has some Linen Thread threaded through the holes and is adhered to a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe that is also flagged. Some more Crisp Cantaloupe is cut out with the Fashionable Hearts Embosslit and popped up on some Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the new Pretty Print Embossing Folder, it goes so well with the Venetian Romance DSP paper that I picked! Thanks for coming by to see my Mojo Monday Sketch challenge card for their 300th sketch! Here’s to the next 300! Have a safe and happy 4th! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 47

Happy Wednesday peeps! Half way there to my Friday! I’m a little bummed because my friend Danielle, who I work with, went to Vegas this morning and won’t be back until next week. Work is going to be a little lonely for the next few days. It was warm and muggy here yesterday and then rained in the evening. I think we are supposed to get a stretch of some nice weather so that will be good. Not that I mind the rain, it just means more crafty time! LOL!

Today’s post – Paper Craft Crew Design Team Sketch 47…

PCCCS047-6-19-2013

I was a little puzzled when I saw this sketch, but after letting it percolate for a bit the card took shape. The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock. The lower half of the background is Pool Party and the top is a piece from the I Am Me Designer Series Paper Pack. I trimmed a Tea Lace Paper Doily in half for the backing of my sentiment which is from the Four You Stamp Set. I stamped it in Real Red ink on half of a piece of Whisper White that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and pierced the edge with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack. Two flagged pieces of Real Red and So Saffron go on before the doily and I used a piece of adhesive cork sheet across the top. A “Vintage” Brights Basic Designer Button (I knew there was something I forgot to order!) completes the card. I’m loving the colors together and the mix of the doily with the modern deign is fun too! Thank you for visiting me to see my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Head on over to the blog and see what the other designers have for you. Thanks again and enjoy your day!

Simple Monday Birthday

Here we go again, back to Monday. How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was good, I got all of my projects finished! I watched a movie, spent time with my friends and the child. It was a very productive weekend and those are my favorite kind. It’s supposed to rain here today but I’ll be at work so it’s all good.

Today I have a birthday card that I made for one of my co-workers. Nicole loves the beach and actually lives quite close to it on the north shore of Long Island. Because of that I felt some seashells would be a good addition to the card. The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I tore the bottom of the front panel of Costal Cabana and also tore another piece that I adhered underneath, I thought it gave the illusion of waves. The shells are stamped in Costal Cabana from the By the Seashore Stamp Set on Crumb Cake. A little work with my Paper Snips and I adhered them to the bottom. The greeting is from the now “Vintage” Beautiful Birthday Stamp and is stamped in Early Espresso so it stands out a little better. I used the new Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set to give the effect of sand on the bottom of the inside that peeks out. Nicole loved the card and I was impressed that I was able to tear the card stock, I have a big aversion to doing that but I like the effect! Thank you for stopping by to see what I’m up to, I appreciate your visit and comments. I wish a very happy Monday! 🙂

Mojo 296

Monday, Monday, back again. How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was pretty good, I went into Manhattan yesterday and had brunch with my friend Kim at the great Mexican Restaurant called MolĂ©. We had breakfast sandwiches that were delicious and they came with fries, who doesn’t love fries, especially seasoned ones! It’s rainy here this morning and is supposed to be all day but it’s still supposed to be in 70’s so not too bad.

Today’s post – Mojo Monday 296, a sketch from Julee Tilman…

Mojo296

I got up a little early this morning and decided to see how early morning creativity worked! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. The background and the strip of paper across the lower half are from the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper Pack. A strip of Daffodil Delight and a strip of Island Indigo go down the left side. The stamped images are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set, stamped in Basic Gray on Melon Mambo, and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies. For the greeting I used the A Round Array Stamp Set and stamped it in Night of Navy. The 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch punches out the greeting and I backed it with a piece of Night of Navy punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. Some Brights Designer Buttons (Vintage) Finish off the card on the left. I really like the colors in the Gingham Garden DSP, don’t you? Thanks for coming by to see my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card, I appreciate your visit and hope that you have a great day! 🙂

Paper Players #148 :-)

So how was your Saturday? It was a very nice day here yesterday, warm and sunny. I went to see Pitbull and Ke$ha last night at Jones Beach Theater. It is one of my favorite places to see a concert. It’s an outdoor amphitheater right on the water, in fact the stage is in the water! Pitbull was awesome, high energy and a great show. I was surprised that Ke$ha was pretty good too! They had a DJ in between and he was great too! All in all a very nice night!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players. This time we have a theme challenge from the superb Jaydee…

Paper Players #148 Theme Summer 6-02-2013

Summer! I pondered about what stamps to use for a while and then I remembered a “Vintage” one that is the perfect image of summer. The base of my card is Pacific Point Card Stock. The background is a piece of Tangerine Tango and before I adhered it to the card I put a little piece of the Gingham Garden Washi Tape in the upper right. The image is the “Vintage” Sail Away Stamp and I stamped it in Pacific Point and backed it with some Daffodil Delight. The greeting is from the Pursuit of Happiness Stamp Set that will be “Vintage” as of Monday. I used another soon to be “Vintage” product, a Brights Collection Designer Button with a piece of Tangerine Tango in the middle. It sort of reminded me of the sun so it went with the greeting. I think the sail away image with the sketched sail boat and seagulls is perfect for summer, don’t you? Thank you so very much for stopping by to see my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s Summer Theme challenge from Jaydee. Head on over to the Paper Players blog and check out the other awesome designers cards and enter on of yours in the gallery. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Memorable Apothecary Thoughts Special Occasion

Hello there! Even though the weekend was a three day one for me it still seemed to fly. I did get a lot accomplished and spent some time relaxing and seeing friends. I got to watch the two little munchkins Izzy and Savannah yesterday and then went back over for a BBQ in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day here, not too hot and nice and sunny. All in all a very nice weekend indeed. Now if only we could get a three day weekend every week! LOL!

Today I have a card and frame that I made for a friend at work. It’s his parent’s 60th wedding anniversary. Wow! 60 years together, that’s quite an incredible feat. He asked if I could make him a card for them, he said that he hear that I made nice cards. I said that I would be happy to. I also got to scan in their wedding album and there was this photo that I saw and I knew that I wanted to do something to it. I knew just what I was going to do too.

For the card I started with a base of Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock and rounded the bottom corners. The stamped image is from the Apothecary Art Stamp Set and is stamped three times, once in Costal Cabana*, again in Crisp Cantaloupe* and one more time in Smokey Slate*. The Costal Cabana* one is cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and backed with a piece of Brushed Silver Specialty Card Stock. For the Crisp Cantaloupe* one I fussy cut the wreath out and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Smokey Slate* is just the banner and I heat embossed the greeting from Loving Thoughts Stamp Set with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and adhered it with more Dimensionals. The 60th is from the Memorable Moments Stamp Set and is stamped in Costal Cabana* and fussy cut too. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones finish the card.

RSB Parent's Anniv Card 2013

The frame has an antiqued silver finish. I printed the photo out on photo paper and then printed it again and just cut out the invitation. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals pop up the invitation to give it some depth. The flowers are just simple ribbon flowers that I picked up at the craft store and individually glued them to the picture. They matched the flowers that were in his mother’s bouquet perfectly. I thought it was a nice way to give the picture some added depth and sentimental value. Below is the whole frame and a close up of the flowers.

The person asked me how much I wanted for the card and I said let it be my gift to your parents. He said that my gift was being kind enough to share my talent with others. I can’t explain how great that made me feel. He really like the card and the frame. I was very to happy to have been able to make such an important card, one that I probably won’t get to make again. I hope that you enjoyed seeing both of the projects and that you are inspired to do something a little different once in a while, it can be a lot of fun! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Mojo 295 & Sneak Peek

Holiday Monday morning! It’s a beautiful day here on Long Island, sunny and not too hot. There are parades and BBQ’s scheduled for today, lots of fun for a Monday! I’m off to watch the munchkins for a little while then some crafting and outside time! What are you all doing today? Some people, like my friend Julie, have to work but most have off. Hopefully there is fun ahead in your day!

Today’s post – Mojo Monday 295, a sketch from Julee Tilman…

Mojo295

A nice simple sketch indeed! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I used a plain piece of Daffodil Delight for the background. The lower piece of paper is from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Pack and the other is from the Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack*. I choose the greeting from the Word Play Stamp Set, trying to get a little more use out if before it becomes “Vintage”! It’s stamped in Island Indigo and backed with some Strawberry Slush*. The flag is stamped with an image from the Mosaic Madness Stamp Set*. I finally played with some of the new Simply Pressed Clay Buttons & Blossoms Moulds* and Simply Pressed Clay* yesterday. After some trial and error I find that putting them in the freezer for about and hour and removing them to dry works better than leaving them in the whole time. I used my Aqua Painter and some Pool Party Ink to color it. I really like the ability to make the clay any color that you like and it’s so nice and lightweight that mailing it should be no problem. Thank you very much for coming by on this holiday Monday to see my Mojo Monday sketch challenge card. I hope that you enjoyed it and that you are going to have a great day! 🙂
