Freshly Made Sketches #79

Hello Thursday! So happy to see you again! You are a good day because you are right next to Friday! How are we all doing today? I’m well, I had to do some tech support with my Aunt in England yesterday evening. She was pretty amazed that I was able to walk her through what she had to do to get her internet connection back up. It was a relatively nice day here yesterday, I think we made it to 52 degrees! I must admit that while it was still a little chilly I did have the top down in the card on the way home. I just can’t wait any longer!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. This week we have a sketch from Rita…

Freshly Made Sketches #79

I wanted something a little springy so here’s what I came up with. The base of the card is Pretty in Pink Card Stock. I used the Borders Scoring Plate and my Simply Scored to create the background on a piece of Lucky Limeade. The piece of paper on the left is form the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper Pack, I thought it echoed the chevron background pretty nicely. A piece of Calypso Coral is cut on the bottom edge with the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies. Some Early Espresso 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon is adhered around the back with Sticky Strip and another piece is knotted on it. The greeting is from the Friendship Preserves Stamp Set and is stamped in Calypso Coral. I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies to cut it out. It’s backed with a piece of So Saffron, also cut out with the same Framelits and pierced around the edge with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. A piece of Early Espresso is flagged on either side and adhered in between the to Window Frames. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I kind of like the bold Limeade for a background more that I thought I would. I hope that you like my Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card for this week’s sketch from Rita. Thank you so so much for paying me a visit today. I hope your Thursday is pretty awesome!

Paper Craft Crew Sketch 35

So here we are at Wednesday, half way there! Today I was Mr. Fix-It at work. My friend Lisa was having trouble getting her car started. I determined that it was the battery in her smart key and Toyota couldn’t fix it. My friend Anthony’s wheelchair wouldn’t work so I tinkered with that and fixed that. Finally my friend Danielle’s Nexus 7 wouldn’t turn on so I got that to work. I came home and played with MDS for a bit and made a card (wanted to make more but time just gets away!). All in all a good day. How was your day?

Wednesday means it’s Paper Craft Crew time. This week we have a sketch for you to play with…

PCCCS035 3-27-2013 Sketch

I looked at the Parker’s Patterns DSP and the Spec-tacular stamp and decided to go with a retro vibe. The base of the card is Cajun Craze Card Stock. I stamped a piece of Crumb Cake with the Woodgrain Background Stamp inked in Crumb Cake for the background. Two strips of Parker’s Patterns Designer Series Paper fill in the middle. The Spec-tacular Single Stamp is stamped in Cajun Craze on Very Vanilla. I colored in a pair of the glasses with the Silver Stampin’ Dazzle Marker and backed it with a piece of Not Quite Navy. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The button is a Silver Basics Designer Button. I punched a piece of Not Quite Navy with the 1/2″Circle Punch and a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack and adhered them  to the center of the button. Some Mini Glue Dots hold the button to the  card. The sentiment is form the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set, stamped in Not Quite Navy and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. For a little 60’s vibe I stamped the peace symbols from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set in Not Quite Navy and punched them out with a standard hole punch. Some more Mini Glue Dots hold them in place. I love the Spec-tacular Stamp and the colors and DSP do give it a bit of a retro feel. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Stop by the blog and check out the other designers projects and enter one of yours for me to take a peek at! Thanks for checking in and I hope that you have a nice day! 🙂

Hey there, how are you today? Things are ok here. Would you believe that it snowed again today, just for a little bit, but it snowed! It was overcast and rainy all day. I am so ready for warm weather. Is it just me or does this winter seem exceptionally long? Oh Mother Nature… whatever we did to make you mad I apologize, can we have some warm now… please?!

It’s Tuesday so today I have my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for you. This week’s sketch is provided by Julee Tilman…

Mojo286

Hmm… I think square! LOL! The base of my card is Island Indigo Card Stock and the background is just a plain piece of Sahara Sand. The flag is a piece of paper from the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper Pack (now vintage!). The band across the middle is piece of Sahara Sand that I embossed with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed it with a piece of Island Indigo. The scallop across the bottom is made by punching some of the stamped images, stamped in Island Indigo, from the A Round Array Stamp Set that is a peek set form the 2013-2014 Catalog! You can order it early, pretty neat huh?! They are adhered to the back of the band with SNAIL and the band to the base with the same. The greeting is also from the A Round Array Stamp Set, stamped in Island Indigo and backed with a piece of Island Indigo that I punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. I used the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce around the edge. The stamped image is then adhered to it with SNAIL and to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I think the A Round Array set is nice and versatile and I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us! I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday Sketch challenge card. Thank you so much for stopping by and for your comments! You guys rock!

Control Freaks March Blog Tour!

freakwelcome

Hello and welcome to the March Control Freaks Blog Tour. This time around the theme is Spring! Boy could I use some spring right about now! Tomorrow is the first day of Spring but we had snow here on Long Island yesterday. Like I said… so ready for Spring!

If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the super creative Lisa Martz’s blog. She always has some fantastic stuff to share doesn’t she?! This month I have three projects for you, two cards and a candy jar.

The first of my cards is simple but I love the way it looks. I often need cards that can make the long journey over to England where most of my family is. A one layer card always fits the bill. The base of the card is Pool Party Card Stock. I cut a piece of Very Vanilla to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and stamped all of my images on it. The jar is from the Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set that was carried over from the 2012 Holiday Catalog and it is stamped in Pool Party. The greeting is from the Make a Wish Stamp Set and is stamped in Calypso Coral. I stamped the hearts from the Oh, Whale! Stamp Set in Pool Party and Calypso Coral, stamping off some of them. I love the random hearts and the jar, they remind me of fireflies! Stamping off is a nice simple yet fun way to give a one dimensional card a little depth.

Control Freak Blog Tour Jar Card

For my second card I wanted to showcase the new Photopolymer Stamp Set. The base of this card is Primrose Petals Card Stock. I stamped some images from the Make a Cake Stamp Set in Primrose Petals, using the cake that I stamped in Raspberry Ripple to line up the little banner. The Happy Birthday banner is from the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set. The banner stamp itself is straight but you can bend it when you mount them to your clear block and that’s what I did. It’s stamped in Raspberry Ripple and the letters in Primrose Petals. I used my Paper Snips to cut them out and they are mounted to the card with leftover Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. The cake is also mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The best part about the Photopolymer Set is that you can see exactly where you are going to stamp making it great for alphabets, easy to line up every time!

Control Freaks Blog Tour Poly Cake Card

My last project is a little jar with some jellybeans inside. I wrapped some Tea for Two Designer Series Fabric around the middle of the jar and adhered it with some Sticky Strip. A piece of Tea Lace Paper Doily was adhered to the fabric with some SNAIL before I attached it. The little chick is from the Everybunny Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and colored in with Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Markers. A Stampin’ Dimensional holds it in place. On the top of the jar I punched a piece of Whisper White with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered it to the jar with some Mini Glue Dots. The rolled rose is made by punching a piece of Calypso Coral with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and cutting in a spiral with my Paper Snips. After you roll it up some hot glue keeps it from unwinding. I punched some Lucky Limeade with the 1″ Circle Punch for the leaves and some more Mini Glue Dots hold it all on top. The flag is a piece of Whisper White and I used the Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set for Taylor, stamped in Calypso Coral. The Happy Easter is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is also stamped in Calypso Coral. For the egg I used the Itty Bitties Stamp Set and stamped it in Chocolate Chip. The flag is wrapped around a skewer and held closed with Sticky Strip. The butterfly is cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit from Calypso Coral. A little fabric, card stock and some stamps make a fun way to dress up a plain glass container.

Fab Friday 14 & News!

Happy Friday everyone! I’m extra happy today because you know that mental health day I have talking about for so long, well… I finally took it! I’m off from work today! I’m going to catch up on some things around the house (it looks like about 20 people live here at the moment!), get some crafty time in and take a nap so I can do the 3:30am ride to the airport! I’ll be going to Manhattan straight from the airport to take a nap at my friends house!

Before I get to today’s post you may be wondering why my Fab Friday is actually on Friday this week. Well, the wonderful Mindy Backes, the creator of Fab Friday, has asked me to join the Design Team! How cool is that?!?! I have played along in every challenge since they started the blog last year. What an honor to be on the team with all of the other talented artists over there. Ok, enough gushing now on to the challenge. We have a nice color combo for you…

Fab Fri 14 3-15-2013

I have had the Button, Button Stamp Set for a while and haven’t really used it much. I thought this would be a neat way to break it in. The base of my card is Pink Pirouette Card Stock. The background is made with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Sahara Sand and cut it in half. A quick run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and it kind of looks like a table. I stamped  the jar image from the Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set in Lucky Limeade on Vellum Card Stock. The Cannery Framelits Dies cut out the stamped image and a blank one to go behind it. The buttons are from the Button, Button Stamp Set and are stamped in Pink Pirouette and Calypso Coral, punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch and the 1/2″ Circle Punch, the ones in the jar are adhered with SNAIL and the ones on the outside are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I then used some vellum adhesive to adhere the stamped jar to the blank one and some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that to the card too. The greeting is from the Made for You Stamp Set and is stamped in Calypso Coral. I used the Scallop Oval Punch to punch it out and backed it with a piece of Calypso Coral that I punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. Still more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I love the way the jar stamped on Vellum looks, especially filled with the little buttons. I hope that you enjoyed my first Deign Team card for the Fab Friday Color Challenge. Make sure that you go and visit the blog to see what all of my fellow designers have for you and make a card of yours to enter. Thank you so very much for checking in with me, I hope that you all have a great Friday! 🙂

Every other Saturday I have a Fab Friday card for you and today is no exception. This time around we have a sketch…

Fab Friday Sketch 13

I really wanted to do a butterfly but as you can see from the sketch that was too obvious! I went with a favorite single stamp of mine instead. The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I used apiece of paper from the World Spectacular Designer Series Paper Pack for the flagged piece in the middle. Next up I cut out a piece of Calypso Coral with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies, cut it in half, and did a little piercing with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. The image is from the World’s Greatest Stamp and is stamped in Island Indigo on Whisper White. I cut out the image with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and did some piercing along the top and bottom. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones give it a little sparkle and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The friend is form the Family Reunion Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo right on the DSP. World’s Greatest… Friend! I hope that you enjoyed my Fab Friday challenge card. Thanks for visiting, you guys are awesome! Have a great day!

Paper Players #134 :-)

Hello peeps! My Saturday just flew by, how about you? I’m off to Manhattan this morning to see Kim and Isabella. It rained here all day yesterday just like they promised, it’s supposed to clear up at some point today. Hopefully the latter part of today will go by a little more slowly!

It’s Sunday and that means it Paper Players time! First, congratulations to Lisa for being my Cut Above for last week’s challenge with her cute baby card! This week we have a Clean and Simple sketch from the lovely Jaydee…

Paper Players 134 2-24-2013

I have been loving the CAS cards of late and this really is the perfect sketch for it. The base of my card is Naturals White Card Stock and I rounded the lower right corner with the 1″ Circle Punch. A strip of Tea for Two Designer Series Paper is adhered down the right side. I cut out a piece of So Saffron and Early Espresso with the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies. The Early Espresso piece is cut out again with a smaller one to form a frame. The So Saffron piece is embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I adhered the frame to the base with Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. The middle image is from the Friendship Preserves Stamp Set and is stamped in Lucky Limeade and also is cut out with the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies. I markered the hello with my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker, scored it and flagged the ends, then folded it and adhered it to the Lucky Limeade image with a Stampin’ Dimensional. The friend is from the Family Reunion Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso directly on to the card base. I really like the framed window and the popped up hello. I hope you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Don’t forget to stop by the blog to see what all of the other designers have come up and enter one of yours, you might be my pick for Cut Above next week! Enjoy your Sunday!

Paper Craft Crew Sketch /Color 027

So, how are all of you today? I’m well, happy that it’s Wednesday. I have a Stampin’ Up! order coming today too, so some new goodies. I find that sitting down at the end of long day and being creative for a few hours is the best way for me to wind down. Sometimes I listen to music but most of the time I just enjoy the quiet. What do you do when you stamp? Do you have a separate space or do you just spread out over the kitchen table? Do you like the quiet or are you rockin’ out as you make stuff?

Wednesday means it’s Paper Craft Crew time! This week we have a sketch and color challenge for you. You con do one or both. I did both this week. Here are the particulars…

PCCCS028-Sketch

The colors are So Saffron, Wild Wasabi and Perfect Plum.

For the base of my card I started with a piece of Perfect Plum Card Stock. The background is a piece of So Saffron that I stamped in rows with the Amazing Accent Stampin’ Around Wheel in So Saffron. For the piece of Wild Wasabi on the left I embossed it with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. I cut out a piece of Very Vanilla with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and used my Stamp-a-ma-jig with the Amazing Family Stamp Set in Perfect Plum. Some Paper-Piercing is done part of the way around with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. I stamped the friend in Wild Wasabi on another piece of Very Vanilla and flagged the one end. To give it a little definition I ran the side of my Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Write marker along the edges and adhered it to the label with SNAIL. A piece of Perfect Plum makes the base for the 5/8″ Flower Trim that is held in place with a Mini Glue Dot. Some Wild Wasabi punched out with the Blossom Builder Punch creates the leaves. I like the color combination a lot more than I thought I would and the Amazing Family stamps fit great inside the label. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s challenge. Click on over to the Paper Craft Crew site and check out the other designers creations and upload one of yours. Thank you for visiting me today. I hope that the rest of your Wednesday is terrific!

Mojo 279

Hello there! One day down, four more to go! How was your Monday? Mine was actually pretty good. I had techniques class last night and we always have a great time. I have to say that if I could craft all day I would be the happiest person on the planet! Steve Jobs once said that “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” I have definitely found what I want to do!!

Tuesday means it’s time for this week’s Mojo Monday post. Julee Tilman has provided us with a nice sketch this week…

Mojo279

I have some more Valentine’s cards to make so I thought this would be a great sketch for that. I used my favorite stamp set, that unfortunately didn’t carry over, Affection Collection. My card starts off with a base of Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is created with a piece of Pool Party embossed with the Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the square of Primrose Petals on top of that I used the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. The piece of paper is from the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack and is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A thin piece of Basic Gray is embossed with the Needlepoint Border Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The greeting and the image behind the greeting are from the Affection Collection Stamp Set (Vintage). I stamped the scalloped image in Pool Party and cut it out with my Paper Snips. The love is stamped in Primrose Petals and punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A button from the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack has some Pool Party Bakers Twine threaded through and is adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. I love the way that all of the elements of the card go together and the Pool Party/Primrose Petals color combo with the slivers of Basic Gray is just great. I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for this week. I really appreciate your visit and hope to see you back soon! Have a lovely day!

Freshly Made Sketches #71

Hello peeps! What’s going on in your neck of the woods? Same old same old here on Long Island. But the week is almost over, time seems to moving along at a rapid pace. I can’t believe that we are at the end of January already! Ahh… but before you know it it will be spring! I like the fact it stays light past 5 o’clock now. More daylight always means more happy!

So today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. But before I get to that I want to thank one of the amazing Demonstrator Support Reps from Stampin’ Up! Last week I email Demo Support because I wanted to know exactly how they made one of the cards they demoed at Leadership. I thought it was strange that I had not heard back, they usually get back to you within two days. Well, I got an email from Pam today with the instructions and an apology for the delay. Thank you very much Pam! You made my evening. I’m thanking Pam in the hopes that she sees this because there is no way for us to email the same rep back so, today’s card is for Pam. 🙂

This week’s sketch is provided by the clever Linda C….

Freshly Made Sketches #71

I love that fact that it has a tag on it. I haven’t done anything with a tag in a long time. The base of my card is Sahara Sand Card Stock. It is definitely my new Crumb Cake. I love the grayish sand color! The background is made with a piece of Island Indigo embossed with the Vine Street Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I created the tag using my Simply Scored Tool. I cut a piece of Sahara Sand to 1 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ and used the Diagonal Plate to score the corners and then cut the off with my Stampin’ Trimmer. The reinforcement at the top is punched first with a regular hole punch and then with the 1/2″ Circle Punch. I used a stamp from the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set inked in Sahara Sand to give the tag some texture. The feathers (my question to DS) are made from Creped Filter Paper and the Blossom Builder Punch. I sponged them in Island Indigo and adhered a piece of Whisper White Bakers Twine on the back and used my Paper Snips to cut in at an angle along the edges. They make some really nice looking feathers! They are adhered to the tag with Multipurpose Glue. The flower is from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo on Sahara Sand and cut out with the Floral Frames Collection Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Island Indigo punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and a piece of Sahara Sand punched out with the  1 3/8″ Circle Punch. An In-Color Printed Brad holds it together and the flower and the tag are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting I stamped a piece of Sahara Sand with the vine from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set in Sahara Sand and then stamped the greeting form the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set in Island Indigo. A flagged end and some SNAIL and the card is complete. I hope that you enjoyed my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. Thank you for taking some time out of your busy day to visit, I always love having you stop by! Have a fantastic day!
