Paper Players 219

Another lovely day here on Long Island. It wasn’t quite as warm as yesterday but no complaints. My day was very nice, I got up and puttered around the house for a bit and then went to meet Sandy and LeAnne to go to the Scrapbook store and meet up with Michael. LeAnne was up from PA to spend the weekend with Sandy. The ladies browsed around the store for a bit and I spoke to Renee and Michael. After they were done the four of us headed over to Panera for lunch. I got to use Apple Pay for the first time and it was pretty cool! Just touch your finger to the home button and my purchase was paid for! We had a nice lunch and even got the waitress to take our picture! So many craft people at one table! 🙂

Sandy, LeAnne, Michael and I Panera

After I came home and crafted for a bit. Andrew stopped by for a quick chat and I gave him some stuff to put in his car to help with his service engine soon light. I sat down and watched a movie and relaxed a bit. Working all of those hours on Friday made the weekend seen even shorter. And now we are back to Monday. Bleh!

Not all bad though because Monday’s mean Paper Players challenge time! This week we have a fun sketch from Nance…

Paper Players #219

When I saw the sketch I decided that I wanted a nice snowy shaker card so that’s what I made! My card base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Garden Green with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. To make my shaker I used those Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles again! I’m a little addicted I think! I cut out a piece of Soft Sky and Window Sheet with one and then used two to cut out a piece of Crumb Cake that I stamped in Soft Suede with the Hardwood Background Stamp. Two pieces of Whisper White are cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Dies and adhered to my Soft Sky base. The trees are from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and Are stamped in Garden Green for the tree and Encore Gold Metallic for the dots. I used the Tree Punch to punch them out. The bird is from the same set and is stamped din Cherry Cobbler and cut out with my Paper Snips. The tree in the back is adhered with SNAIL and the bird and tree in the foreground are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some foam tape, doubled, is adhered around the edges of the frame and Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter is sprinkled generously on the window and then the back adhered. I used a little Fast Fuse to adhere the shaker to the card. Next to it is a piece of Brushed Gold Metallic Card Stock adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set from the 2014 Holiday Supplement and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. A Stampin’ Dimensional holds that to the card too. I put just enough glitter in the shaker to hide the hills but when you tilt it back you get to see them! I hope that you enjoyed my little christmas shaker card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge. I thank you for coming by to catch up with me and I hope that you have a great Monday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 159 & Pals Paper Arts 225

I had a lovely day in Manhattan yesterday. The weather was perfect, nice a sunny and in the low 70’s! I went to see my friends Jim & Diane in the morning and then headed down to see Michael at the Ink Pad. I hung out there chatting with him and Barbara. We had some Chinese food for lunch and Andrew Garfield who plays Spider-Man stopped in to pick up some paint! Only in Manhattan! I left to come home around 5:30, made a few cards and then relaxed for bit. I have to tell you that I was a new kind of tired yesterday! One that I don’t think I have felt before! LOL! I did manage to get a little selfie of Michael and I, look at all of those stamps on the wall!

Michael and I Ink Pad

All in all a fun day and I feel much better today after getting some much needed sleep! Before I get to today’s cards I wanted to let you know that if you follow me on Blog Lovin’ I have good news! I was able to contact them and they kindly moved all of my subscribers to the new address! So there is nothing that you have to on your end! Yay!

Even though I was deliriously tired, believe it or not I managed to make two cards when I came home last night! My first one is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches #159

As soon as I saw the sketch I knew exactly what I was going to do! I really needed that yesterday too! My card starts off with a base of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack. All of the stamped images are from the Cheerful Christmas Stamp Set. My greeting is heat embossed with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Pistachio Pudding that I backed with some Cherry Cobbler before adhering it to the card. The three ornaments are heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Cherry Cobbler and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. For some sparkle I adhered Basic Jewels Rhinestones on top of the dot in the greeting. A simple fun traditional Christmas card! I love the Cherry Cobbler on the Pistachio Pudding, gives the card a nice brightness don’t you think?!

The second card for today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 225

Again, another nice simple sketch! This card begins with a base of Garden Green Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Gold Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. I used another piece for the first angled layer. The top angled layer is Calypso Coral and I heat embossed the greeting from the Hello Darling Stamp Set with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. After I adhered all of the layers together with SNAIL I adhered a few of the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins and a few gold ones that I had randomly across the Calypso layer. I really do like the colors in the Gold Soiree DSP, definitely not ones that I would have thought to combine myself!

And there are my two card for today, one for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches and the other for Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed them both and as always, thank you so much for coming by to see what I have been up to! I wish you all a very happy Sunday! 🙂

Mojo 368

I am very tired boy today. Yesterday I was at work from 7:15am until 12:15 am, a very long day but a fun evening. My work peeps can be lots of fun! I even have a spiffy picture to share with you! LOL!

Justin Gala 2014

I clean up pretty nicely huh?! LOL! This morning I’m off to the city for a bit and then who knows?! I’ll fill you in tomorrow! For now lets get to today’s card and it’s for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

Mojo368

Nice and simple! I wanted to play with my little gift that I got again and it worked out perfectly for this layout! My card begins with a base of Smoky Slate Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Sky. Across the middle is a strip of paper from the All is Calm Designer Series Paper Pack. The panel in the middle is cut out using the Stitched Rectangles from Lawn Fawn. I stamped the Wintertime Stamp in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Watercolor Paper, masked the stitched edges with some Post-it Tape and used my Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Lost Lagoon Ink to ink the paper and reveal the white heat embossed stamp. After I peeled off the Post-it tape I adhered the panel to the card with Fast Fuse Adhesive. The snowflake is from the Snowflake Card Thinlits and is cut out from a piece of Smoky Slate. A few Basic Jewels Rhinestone are place on the snowflake and it’s adhered to the card with a Glue Dot. I love the colors in the card and that stitched detail on the die is just too neat! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch. I thank you for coming by and I hope that you all have a lovely Saturday! 🙂

Fab Friday 53 & New Address!

It’s Friday, but not a happy one for me. I’m working from 8:00am until 12:00am, we have our annual Gala tonight. It’s a great event and a lot of fun but it’s a long day! Yesterday was rainy, windy and cold here again but it’s supposed to clear up today so that will be good. It was a busy day at the office and I had lots to do and still more to get done today before we head over to set up. I trust that you all got the email last night letting you know that I have finally successfully moved my blog over to a self hosted solution. It took a long time to do and I could’t have done it without the help of Andrew. He sat there for hours uploading all of the old posts. So going forward all post will come from jkcardsonline.com. I’m excited to see what I can do with the new hosting and as soon as I figure it out I’ll let you know! Hopefully you found it ok and we’ll be back to normal in no time!

Today I’m over on the Fab Friday blog for our sketch challenge…

Fab Fri 53 10-24-2014

This was another one of those where I knew exactly what I wanted to do as soon as I peeked at the sketch. My card today starts with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. I used the “Vintage” Timber Wheel Stamp to stamp in from the top left and bottom right on my background of Sahara Sand in Sahara Sand. A piece of the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper is adhered across the middle. The square is a piece of Pumpkin Pie that I partially die cut one of the pumpkins from the Fun Fall Framelits and then used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut out the rest of the inside. I stamped the pumpkin from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set in Tangerine Tango and the face in Memento Tuxedo Black. The greeting is from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. A piece of Window Sheet is adhered to the back and some Stampin’ Dimensionals around the edge form the shaker. I filled it with some sequins that I had from last year and that completes the card. A nice fun simple Halloween shaker card! I really do love the shaker cards don’t I?! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge. The rest of the design team has some more inspiration for you over on the BLOG so make sure and stop by. I hope that you have a much better Friday than I am going to! LOL! Thanks for stopping by the new digs! 🙂

Paper Players 218

Now that was a rainy, windy nasty day yesterday! It rained all day, that drizzly kind. One of those days that you would have much rather stayed home. Work was nutty, but that’s to be expected for the rest of the week. I came home and got to see Daniel at dinner. He is starting to walk already! He’s not even a year old, he’s really quite the clever little boy. Must take after his uncle! LOL! I went to see Heather for a bit last night and then came home and watched Forever, still really enjoying it! If you haven’t checked it out you can see all of the episodes on Watch ABC. It’s supposed to rain all day today too, oh well, what can you do?!

Oh yes! For two days I have forgotten to mention the 2014 Holiday Supplement Catalog! All products in the catalog are available while supplies last and it’s packed full of great quick and easy project ideas! If you would like a copy you can download one HERE!

Today I have my card for this week’s Paper Players CAS color challenge from my friend Sandy…

Paper Players #218

Silver or Gold, glad I read that a second time before I got to work on my card, I would have done both! Today, my card starts with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. I trimmed a piece of Kraft Card Stock and used the Dotty Angles Photopolymer Stamp Set and some Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on the right side. I used Fast Fuse to adhere it to the base, things sometimes get a little curly when you heat emboss so I wanted to make sure that it stayed down. Just before I stuck it in place I put a piece of Linen Thread behind it. For my feathers I used some Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the Four Feathers Stamp Set to heat emboss one on Vellum. They other one is a piece of Gold Foil Sheet and they are both cut out with the Feathers Framelits. A little SNAIL near the bottom adheres them to the card. Back to the Linen Thread which I tied one of the Gold Basic Metal Buttons to in a neat little bow. My greeting is from the Christmas Tagables Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. A Stampin’ Dimensionals holds it in place and completes today’s card. I just really love the way the Kraft looks with the black and gold. Simple yet elegant but in an understated way. It’s a very non-tradittional Holiday card but a quick change of the greeting and it would work for so much more! I hoeo that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players CAS Silver or Gold challenge from Sandy. I really enjoyed making it to share with you! Thanks for stopping by and have a great Thursday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 115

Here we are at midweek again. This week is a very busy week at work. We have our annual Gala on Friday. There is a nice 7:00am to 11:00pm day! Yesterday was a good day at work, I got to go on a nice long three hour errand! Love when that happens. Last night was a nice quiet evening, I crafted for a bit, talked to Danielle and watch some TV. Oh, I almost forgot, I got my tickets to see Sam Smith again in January. This time he’s in Madison Square Garden!! And I got pretty good seats this time too!! I’m looking forward to that!

So it’s Wednesday and that means I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS115 Sketch 10-22-2014

So when I looked at the sketch I wanted to use the Heart Border Punch, who knows! LOL! My card starts with a base of Garden Green Card Stock. For my background I took a piece of Crumb Cake and embossed it with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The bottom is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack. To cover the seam I used a piece of Cherry Cobbler and tied a piece of Linen Thread around it in a bow to the left. The panel is another piece of the Designer Series Paper with a piece of Cherry Cobbler on top and I used the Hearts Border Punch across the top. My Tree is from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set, stamped in Garden Green on Garden Green and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few hearts are adhered to the tree with Multi-Purpose Glue and the panel to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Garden Green on a piece of Whisper White and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. In the upper right corner is part of a circle and a strip of Cherry Cobbler with one of the hearts from the Essentials Wooden Elements colored in with my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker. A heart is adhered to the top of that and three more in the right corner complete the card. A fun traditional Christmas card with a slight country feel to it! I hope that you liked my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. There is some more inspiration over on the BLOG so be sure and stop by! Thanks for visiting with me today, I hope that you have a very nice Wednesday! 🙂

Control Freaks October Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Hello there and welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! This time around our theme is Fall/Grateful! If you are following along on the tour that means that you have arrived here from the talented Heidi Boos! She’s so clever isn’t she?!?! I have two cards for you, a fun shaker and a simple card! I’m still loving all of the fun goodies in the Holiday Catalog, what have you gotten so far?!

First up is the shaker card. I have been having so much fun making this type of card and they are very trendy right now! For the card base I used a piece of Tangelo Twist Card Stock. The top panel is a piece of Hello Honey. I used the Fun Fall Framelits and the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out my leaves and circle. A piece of Window Sheet is adhered to the back with Multi-Purpose Glue. The greeting is from the Let Your Hair Down Host Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso. A double layer of Stampin’ Dimensionals is adhered to the back and some multicolored sequins are put on the base before I adhered the panel and enclosed the sequins. Along the bottom I cut off some of a piece 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon and adhered it to the card with Fast Fuse Adhesive. On top of that is a piece of the Tangelo Twist Sequin Trim from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit. To finish it off I adhered one of the Gold Basic Metal Buttons with some Glue Dots on top if the burlap and sequin trim. I like to keep the rest of the card simple when it’s a shaker so as not to take away from the fun of whats inside!

Control Freaks October 2014 Blog Tour Shaker Card Close-WM

Next up is a simple thank you card. The card starts off with a base of Hello Honey Card Stock and on top of that is a piece of Tangelo Twist. My background is a piece of Whisper White and I stamped the trees in Soft Suede from the White Christmas Photopolymer Stamp Set. My leaves, House and Greeting are form the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set. The leaves are stamped in Tangelo Twist and Hello Honey and the greeting in Soft Suede. I stamped the house in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it in with my Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. The Homemade Holiday Framelits cut out my house and then a few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. A piece of basic Black serves as a walkway some lines drawn in with my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Markers gives it a little depth. I love the Holiday Home Set and the matching Homemade Holiday Framelits, they are just so neat!

Creation Station Tour – Wondrous Wreath

creation station header

Hi there and happy Sunday! I had a very busy day yesterday. I woke up and crafted for a bit and then I had to get ready for Erika to come over and make Daniel’s birthday decorations. Before that Andrew, my brother, Erika and I went to Croxley’s Ale House for lunch. We met two of my brother’s friends there and had a very nice lunch. They have 10 Cent wings and really good burgers and a very large selection of beer! After lunch we came back to my house and Erika and I worked on Daniel’s party decorations and Andrew worked on moving the rest of my blog over. The decorations are mostly finished and there is only one more piece to do for the blog. I have already reassigned the jkcardsonline.com web address to the new one, I just have to move the subscribers over and then I will be able to take down this one and only use the new one. For now I will be posting on both blogs, hopefully only until Monday! As I said I will also send out a test post to make sure that all of you are getting the emails. Thanks for you patience during the transition!

It’s time for another Creation Station Blog Tour and this month we are featuring the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. Well, it’s generally an all around wreath theme! If you are following along with the tour you have arrived here from the talented Deborah Smart’s blog. Such great projects!! I have a card and a home decor project for you today so let’s get to them!

First up is a neat Christmas card. For the base I used a piece of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. My wreath is from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Vellum Card Stock. I sprinkled some Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder over the image and used my Heat Tool to set it. When you stamp on Vellum the ink takes a while to dry so it the perfect excuse to heat emboss it! I stamped it again with the berries from the set and used Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder for those. The Wondrous Wreath Framelits cut it out and some Multi-Purpose Glue adheres it to the card. The bow is from the same set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and also cut out with the Framelits. A little bit of Stampin’ Dimensional holds it to the wreath. I cut the Joy out from the Wonderful Wreath Framelits from a piece of Cherry Cobbler and heat embossed it with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder twice. I think that it gives it a very cool look, almost like patent leather. Some more Multi-Purpose Glue adheres that to the card. I love the simple elegance of the card and especially the shine on the Joy!

Creation Station Tour 12 - Card-WM

Creation Station Tour 12 - Card Close-WM

My next project is a fun wreath that will go on my wall somewhere in the house. I used a simple twig wreath that I had laying around in the Stampin Galley for my base. To create the bow I used the Gift Bow Bigz L Die and some Red Glimmer Paper. The berries around the wreath are also Red Glimmer Paper that I punched out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch. In the center hanging from apiece of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine is a piece of Vellum Card Stock that I cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. My letters are Gold Glimmer Paper and I used the Little Letters Thinlits to cut them out and I adhered them with Multi-Purpose Glue. The ampersand is Red Glimmer Paper and is cut out with one of the dies from the Label Card Thinlits. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals pieces to adhere that then tied it to the wreath. The bow and all the “berries” are adhered with hot glue to make sure that they stay in place! I love the sparkle of all of the Glimmer Paper and the unexpected hanging greeting in the middle!

I really hope that you enjoyed my two projects for the Creation Station Blog Tour featuring the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set. I had a great time making the projects as I always do! Now you are off to see what clever Ilina Crouse has come up with. I love to inspire you to try new things and have you come by and see what I’m up to! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! 🙂

White Christmas Cobbler

Friday during the day is becoming less of a favorite of mine. Work seems to be very busy on Friday’s, what can you do?! I did manage to sneak out and get my new iMac today! As soon as I escape though, it’s all good. I had some dinner and then Andrew came over. I started to set up the iMac and Andrew took on the rather daunting challenge of moving my blog to a hosted site. It was not fun at all! We were on the phone with GoDaddy support for at least two hours and it’s still not quite finished. He has gotten most of the posts over but there is still some work to be done. I’m hoping to have it finished by Monday! Andrew’s efforts last night deserve a big round of applause! I say it all the time but I’m lucky that he is such an awesome friend! Oh, I know what I forgot to mention, Andrew is doing a blog as a project for school. You can take a peek at it HERE! 🙂

So, I had to make a quick card last night amidst the new computer set up and blog chaos, this is what I came up with.

The card actually did start off with a base of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock today. The background is a piece of Whisper White that is cut out with a gift that I received from a friend. It’s actually a die from a set from Lawn Fawn called the Small Stitched Rectangles. I think the stitching detail around the edge is pretty neat. All of my stamped images are from the White Christmas Photopolymer Stamp Set. The trees and hill are stamped in Soft Suede, the snow in Soft Sky and the greeting in Cherry Cobbler. My car is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Whisper White and colored in with Cherry Cobbler, Smoky Slate and Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Markers. I thought the card needed something else so I put a strip of Soft Suede under it. Andrew suggested that some white lines might be in order, so I used my uni-ball Signo Gel Pen to draw them in. You know what? He was right! And there you have another late night card from me this week. Simple, and would be pretty easy to mass produce, so I think it would make a great Christmas card. I hope you enjoyed the card and our little adventure from last night. I will keep you posted on the blog transition by sending out a post stating that it’s about to happen. Fingers crossed that everything goes well! Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a super Saturday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 158

They said that we would have some rain last night and boy did it come down for a little while. I got to run another errand for work yesterday, that makes three days in a row! Let’s see if we can make it four! LOL! I had a fun evening last night. I met my friend Michael for dinner at the Chow Down Diner. We had a very nice conversations that carried over to Starbucks for some coffee and ended hours later in the parking lot. I love when you just connect with people, like you have known them for a long time. Michael is a paper crafter too and you can take a look at his blog HERE. He is the creator of StenDoodle. It sort of like Zentangle with stencils and it’s pretty cool so be sure and take a look!

My late night card for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from the lovely Jen T….

Freshly Made Sketches #158

Thankfully the idea for the card formulated in my little brain when I peeked at the sketch yesterday morning. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock and I covered the entire front in a piece of Kraft Card Stock. The panel is Basic Black, I embossed a piece with the “Vintage” Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered some Gold Sequin Trim around the back with Sticky Strip before adhering the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My four feathers are from the Four Feathers Stamp Set and are Soft Sky, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay all heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used the Feathers Framelits to cut them out and some more Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them to the black panel. My greeting is from the Good Greetings Host Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder in the lower right corner. There is still a little over a week left to get the Good Greetings Set by placing a $300 order. If you have a bunch of friends that would like to place orders contact me and I’ll give you a Host Code so you can get your set! And there is my late night card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I hope that you enjoyed it and I thank you for stopping by and spending a little time with me today! Have an amazing Thursday my friends! 🙂
