Paper Players 178

Well, I made it back to New York safely from Houston yesterday! Everything went smoothly, which is always nice. Andrew pulled up outside the airport right as I was walking out and we headed to Manhattan and met up with Kim for some lunch. After, Andrew and I wandered around a bit and then headed home. I did manage to snap a few pictures from the plane yesterday. I got a nice one of Houston as I was leaving and some good ones of New York right before we landed.

I was happy to sit down at my craft desk and make my Paper Players card for this week’s color challenge from LeAnne…

I will admit, I was little stumped when I first saw the color challenge. They definitely aren’t colors that I would normally put together! The base of my card is Pear Pizzazz Card Stock and I angled the top to make it look like a tag. The background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack and I used the Finishing Touches Edgelits along the bottom. A strip of Primrose Petals is embossed with the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two large hearts are cut out from Crushed Curry and Primrose Petals using the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and the smaller heart is punched out with the Full Heart Punch. The large Crushed Curry heart and the smaller Primrose Petals heart are both embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder**. The arrow is from the Label Card Thinlits Dies and is cut out of a piece of Coastal Cabana. I cut it in half to make it look like it was going through the heart. My greeting is from the Just Sayin’ Stamp Set, is stamped in Primrose Petals, and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits Dies. The tiny heart is punched out from a piece of Crushed Curry with the Small Heart Punch and finishes off the card. This was definitely an interesting color combination, but when it’s all said and done I think the card came out nice! Hip Sorbet Parade

I can’t believe that today is the last day of Leadership! The time really flew by, but it has been a great time! Yesterday there was a general session in the morning and then a really nice lunch. The afternoon was filled with breakout classes with all kinds of information. I had a very nice “dinner” with Nicole, Maggie and Linda and then last night was Stampin’ Night Out, with Make and Takes, demonstrations and Prize Patrol. It has been a really wonderful time and I’ll be sad for it to be over. I have some pictures of some of my friends and I for you, just some “selfies” that I took!

Now on to the card! Today’s starts off with a base of Pistachio Pudding and the background is a piece of Sweet Sorbet** Designer Series Paper adhered slightly askew. A piece of Summer Starfruit is embossed with the Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is a piece of Sahara Sand that is cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit Die. On top of that is a piece of Vellum that I cut out with the Banners Framelits Dies. My tag is created with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the images are from the Petal Parade Stamp Set**. The leaves are stamped in Pistachio Pudding, the large flower in Crisp Cantaloupe punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and the small flower in Summer Starfruit punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The greeting is from the Hip Notes Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black on Pool Party and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. A piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon tied with some Sweet Sorbet Twine** tops the tag. It’s very hard for me to make a card that is “crooked” but I like the way it turned out. Pals Paper Arts 186 & Sneak Peek

I woke up this morning to 6 inches or more of snow… not a good morning! It was cloudy and miserable all day yesterday. They did say that we were going to get a lot of snow and they didn’t lie. I think I’m not going to even try to go to work, my little convertible is definitely not a fan of the snow. I’m sure that most of you are having a not so nice winter either. Hopefully it will be a quick winter!

On a fun happy note today marks the first day that you can order from the 2014 Occasions Catalog! I hope that all of my sneak peeks have inspired you and that you have all of your favorites on a list! 🙂

Today I have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge and this week we have a very elegant color combo…

My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Island Indigo with the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed it with some Gold Foil Sheet. My flowers are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, then cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits. The greeting is from the You’re Lovely Stamp Set** and is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits that I also used to cut out some more Gold Foil Sheet. The butterflies are cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit with yup, you guessed it, Golf Foil Sheet. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the way the flowers match the ones on the greeting and it was nice to use the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, it was feeling neglected! Paper Craft Crew 74 & Sneak Peek

Happy New Year peeps!! I hope this year bring many great things for us all! I know that all of you made 2013 an amazing year for me and I thank you!! I spent New Years Eve with my friends Brian & Kim and the kiddies. There was some wine and lot of food! Good friends always make for the best time! I’m also celebrating a milestone today, this is my 731 consecutive post! That’s two full years of a post every day!! Thank you all again!! 🙂

My first card of 2014 is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge and here is this week’s sketch…

The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Smoky Slate that I embossed with the “Vintage” Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (which you can pick up on the Clearance Rack by the way!). I adhered a piece Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around the back before I adhered it to the card. The four chevrons on the right are punched out with Chevron Border Punch and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the See Ya Later Stamp Set** and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Daffodil Delight cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies*. Two pieces of Bermuda Bay are punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and two Brights Candy Dots are adhered on top. Across the bottom is a piece of Daffodil Delight that is cut out with the Label Card Thinlits Dies. Crisp Starfruit Stars & Little Sneak Peek

How was your Sunday? Mine was pretty good for the last one of the year. I went into Manhattan in the morning and when I was finished with my appointment it was raining. That sort of dashed my hopes of taking a walk. When I got back on the Island I went to see my friends Kim and Kevin, Izzy and Savannah. We had some wine and Kim made ravioli parm for dinner. It was a much needed visit and Kim is just awesome! I also got to see Andrew for a minute. He has been very sick with the flu but is doing much better! I did manage to take one picture when I got to Penn Station. It’s not very exciting but it is the home of the new LIRR station, the former Post Office. You can see how rainy and gloomy it was too.

There is no Paper Players card for today. Instead I have another fairly simple card, sort of a collage with unusual fun colors. The base of the card is Summer Starfruit Card Stock. My background is a piece of Whisper White. I stamped the large stars from the Simply Stars Stamp Set and the small ones from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** both in Smoky Slate randomly on a diagonal. The greeting is from the Bring on the Cake Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso on a piece of paper from the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper Pack. Another piece is adhered to one of the tags from the Stamp a Tag Kit and a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape* is adhered around the end. Some Whisper White Bakers Twine is looped through the hole for the tie. I stamped another greeting from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set in Early Espresso and punched it out with the “Vintage” Large Star Punch. Three more stars are punched out with the Merry Minis Punch Pack from Silver Foil Sheet and all of them are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really love all of the colors, I think they go quite nicely together and the Washi Tape and Silver Foil Sheet give just the right amount of sparkle. Pals Paper Arts 185 & Sneak Peek

Ahh.. you gotta love a little holiday on a Wednesday because it makes Friday come that much quicker! Work today was quiet again and I’m loving it. I had to go to the eye Dr. for my yearly exam after work and then I had some dinner and finished up some projects that needed to get done. I’ll be off to Manhattan on Sunday for a bit so I hope to get some pictures for you guys! Thank you for all of your sweet comments about yesterday’s post and little Daniel. You guys are the best!

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to thank the team over at Pals Paper Arts for choosing my card as one of the their top three picks for last week’s challenge. You can see my original post here and the winners post here. This week is the last Pals Paper Arts challenge of the year! I don’t know about you but 2013 flew by! This week the talented Nicole has given us a nice simple sketch…

This was one of this times where I saw the card before I sat down at the desk! The base of my card is Pool Party Card Stock. For the background I stamped a piece of Crumb Cake with the Hardwood Background Stamp* inked with Crumb Cake. A strip of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack* is backed with some Real Red and adhered to the card on the right side. I cut out a piece of Pool Party with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies and stamped the greeting in Real Red from the Express Yourself Host(ess) Stamp Set. My flower is from the Simple Stems Stamp Set* and is stamped in Real Red and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the flower and the label to the card. I love the colors in the Fresh Prints DSP, well I love the colors in all of the new DSP! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. Mojo 325 & Sneak Peek

Happy Christmas Eve! I guess I’d better get to my shopping at some point today! LOL! Nothing like waiting until the last minute! Work was blissful yesterday, there wasn’t much going on and it was quite desolate! Love it when it’s like that! My friend Andrew is having eye surgery this morning so if you would keep him in your thoughts I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. This week the clever Theresa Kline has given us a nice simple one…

I was inspired by Mary Fish’s card that she has done for the sketch. I really like the piece missing out of the background. The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock. I took a piece of Coastal Cabana and used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the circle from the lower left. After that I embossed it with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Starburst Saying Stamp Set* and is stamped in Tangerine Tango and cut out with the Starburst Framelits*. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that to card. The strip across the top is a piece of Whisper White that I covered with some Retro Fresh This & That Designer Washi Tape* and that too is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A simple but fun and colorful card. I really do like the starburst goodies a lot, can you tell! LOL! Freshly Made Sketches 117 & Sneak Peek

I was up at 4:15 yesterday morning and to work by 6:50, it was the last forum and I was glad to see them finished! The rest of work was quiet and I managed to sneak out at 2:00! I came home a crafted for a bit and then went to my parents for dinner. My brother and his wife came with my little Nephew Daniel. He is so cute!! I finally got to hold him for a bit and he was nice and quiet for me. Babies like me for some reason, maybe I have a soothing voice?!?! LOL! Today’s card is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and this week it’s a fun super clean one from sweet Amy…

I absolutely loved the card that she made, and all of the other ones are awesome too! You know I have a thing for vellum so I used some of the fun new Designer Vellum from the 2014 Occasions Catalog! The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. My banners are cut from some Brushed Gold Card Stock, Champagne Glimmer Paper, Gold Foil Sheet and Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum*. I used some of the Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape* over a piece of Whisper White and some Stampin’ Dimensionals across the top of the flags. My greeting is from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set and is heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some really tiny Stampin’ Dimensional pieces adhere that to the card. Not and overly complicated card but I love the gold and vellum with the Midnight Muse! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Mojo 324 & Sneak Peeks

It was another extremely frigid day here but thankfully it was the last one we’ll have for a while. It’s going to be in the 40’s tomorrow and it will get up to 60 on Sunday. Yay! Work was nice today, I even had time to clean up my emails. My boss took a half day and I ran to the post office and mailed my Christmas cards. I came home, got my blog projects done for tomorrow’s Control Freaks Blog Tour and watched The Sing-Off (again, thanks, Andrew!). All of the groups were actually really good tonight. My favorites got through!

The larger strip across the bottom is Crisp Cantaloupe stamped with the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Crisp Cantaloupe. My greeting is stamped in Pistachio Pudding and is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set. The three flags across the top are from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** and are stamped in Pistachio Pudding, Summer Starfruit and Crisp Cantaloupe. I used the coordinating Banner Punch** to punch them out and some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them at the top. I wouldn’t normally use a bold piece of Designer Series Paper that large but I kind of think it looks funky and I like it. Pals Paper Arts 83 & Sneak Peek

It’s the weekend peeps! Woo hoo! I had a pretty good day at work yesterday. I got to have a staged fight with a trainer that was teaching an investigation class. All of the people in the class thought the fight was real, it was great! LOL! I went to a Stamp-A-Tag at Sandy’s last night, that’s always fun! Today… lots to do and I have my “work” holiday party tonight. Oh, and it’s sneaker Saturday too! Let’s see what I can get done!

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to thank the amazing Mary Fish for selecting my card as her pick for last week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. You can see my original post here and the Pals Paper Arts winners post here. Now this week from Pals we have a color challenge…

I was going to do a Christmas card but I really want to keep those sneak peeks coming so I went with a birthday card instead! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder** to emboss a piece of Wild Wasabi and backed it with a piece of Rose Red for my background. The greeting is from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set* and is stamped once in Rose Red and the again in Wild Wasabi so I could punch out the “a” with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and pop it up on a Stampin’ Dimensional. I stamped it on one of the tags from the Stamp a Tag kit and tied a piece of Whisper White Bakers Twine in a bow on top. The pinwheels are from the Starburst Sayings Stamp Set* and are stamped in Rose Red and cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies*. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card in a cog like pattern. I love the Decorative Dots Folder, it looks a little like confetti and makes a great background for a birthday card!
