Create with Connie and Mary Sketch 233

I’m not even going to say it, I say it every week. Oh, well, maybe just once… it’s FRIDAY! Woo hoo! LOL! I’m sure that most of you feel the same way about Friday as I do. It was a short week but seemed long for some reason. I’m looking forward to finishing up a lot of outstanding projects this weekend. My second 2013 Spring Catalog order will be here later with some more goodies form the Clearance Rack, I’m looking forward to playing with them too. I also got myself a new toy for Christmas and I haven’t gotten to use it yet but I will this weekend. I’ll tell you more about that when I get some stuff done with it. Ahh, I love crafting, does it show?!?!

Now for today’s post which is for my friends over at Create with Connie and Mary. This week we have a cool sketch to work with…

CCMC 233

Do you see it? A flag! 🙂 My card starts off with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock that I stamped in Sahara Sand with the Netting Background Stamp. I find myself using Sahara Sand a lot more lately and I keep reaching for it instead of Crumb Cake for a neutral. The flagged piece of paper is from the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper Pack. My color choices are influenced by the little poem that is in the By the Tide Stamp Set. It says “Pink shells, white shells and shells colored blue; smooth shells, crinkled shells, old shells and new; striped shells and plain shells left by the tide; my shell is magic – the sea sings inside.” So I went with Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue with some Sahara Sand to stamp the poem three times. I used the same colors for the shells and cut them out with my Paper Snips. They are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the greeting, that is stamped in Sahara Sand from the Made for You Stamp Set, is adhered with the same. I love the layout and who does’t like some sea shells. With a color change or a greeting change this would be a great birthday or thinking of you card. I hope that you are inspired by this week’s Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge card. Thanks for stopping by today. Tomorrow I’ll have a sneak peek at my first Guest Designer card for the Paper Players! Have a fun Friday!

Create with Connie and Mary 232 & Sneak Peek

FRIDAY! FRIDAY! FRIDAY! A very good Friday morning to you! I have finally recovered from all of the junk that I ate on Christmas day. I do love some chocolate and I made some Chocolate Walnut Fudge that was not bad if I do say myself! LOL! What are you all up to this weekend? I’m off to Manhattan tomorrow morning, I think I will be taking the train in because we are supposed to get some snow. Have mentioned before that I’m not a fan of the white stuff? I hope it will be minimal and gone fast.

For today’s post I have my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card. I was one of their top three picks for last week! Thank you very much ladies! This week we have a color challenge…

CCMC 232

Nice and cool colors and and some bling! I went with a Valentine’s theme for my card. The base is Whisper White Card Stock and for the background I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used the 1/2″ Circle Punch to “ticket” the corners and adhered it to the base with SNAIL. The main image is from the Love Heart Single Stamp and is stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the Full Heart Punch. Under that is a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies*. The heart is adhered to the Glimmer Paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The larger heart under that is cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and I used the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack* and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce around the edge. The tickets are from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set* and are stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. For the smaller hearts I punched out some more Silver Glimmer Paper with the Small Heart Punch. All of the elements are adhered to the background with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the cool color combination and the ticket stamps are one of my favorites out of the Spring Catalog. I hope that you liked this week’s card for Create with Connie and Mary. Thanks for checking in with me and enjoy the rest of your Friday!

Create with Connie and Mary 231 & Sneak Peek

Ahh, Saturday… how I enjoy thee! Happy weekend everyone! What kind of weekend are you going to have? Is it a mad dash to finish your Christmas shopping or are you all done and you just have to get the house ready for your company?! I think I would rather do Holiday shopping than clean the house! It’s off to Manhattan this morning and I’m going to try to go to Bryant Park and browse the shops they have set up there weather permitting. I also have some crafting left to do before Monday so I’ll be very busy this weekend. But it’s a crafty good kind of busy! 🙂

Today’s post is my card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a sweet little sketch…

CCMC 231

For the base of my card I used some Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is made from a piece of Tea For Two Designer Series Paper* on the left and a piece of Bashful Blue that I embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder* on the right. I adhered a piece of Lucky Limeade 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon across the seam around the back with Sticky Strip. I used stamps from the set Oh, Hello* for the greeting that is stamped in Calypso Coral on a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped in So Saffron and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies*. The piece is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. On the left there is a another piece of Lucky Limeade 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon adhered under a Soda Pop Top. On the inside of the Soda Pop Top is a piece of Calypso Coral that I punched out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and a Basic Jewels Large Rhinestone* is adhered in the center. The two little bees are from the Itty Bitties Stamp Set* and are stamped in So Saffron, punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and adhered with some Mini Glue Dots. I love the different color combination of the Lucky Limeade and Bashful Blue and the Soda Pop Tops are just the coolest embellishment! I hope that you enjoyed my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card for this week. Thank you for checking in with me and have a fun Saturday!

Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge 230 & Sneak Peek

Woo hoo! It’s Friday! I’m always doing the happy dance on Friday! Last night I made some Hummus and some Fudge. I know what you are thinking… what an odd combination. Well, if you ate them together I would think it would be a little nasty. The hummus is the appetizer and the fudge (if it makes it through today) is for desert. I have sampled both and they are good but I am wanting some more of the fudge! 🙂

Today’s post is from this weeks Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a color challenge…

CCMC 230

A very simple color combination and one with a little bling! The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I used the new Ovals Collection Framelits Dies* to cut out a two pieces of Very Vanilla, one with the scalloped edge, and two pieces of Champagne Glimmer Paper. All of the pieces of Very Vanilla are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the Glimmer Paper is adhered with SNAIL. The Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack* and Paper-Piercing Tool are used to piece around the edges of the Very Vanilla pieces. I stamped the Merry Christmas from the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler and flagged the ends. For the piercing on that I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack. Even with all of it’s layers and glitz it was a very simple card to make. I have to remember to order some Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, the Merry Christmas would have looked rich in that. Did you enjoy today’s sneak peek? What has been you favorite peek so far? Let me know by leaving a comment. I hope that you liked this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge card. Thanks so much for stopping by and have an amazing Friday! 🙂

Create with Connie and Mary 229

Good morning everyone! Yeah, it’s Friday! My favorite day of the week. What do you all have planned for this weekend? I have a ton of crafting to do, still want to get my Christmas cards out this weekend. I’m off to Manhattan on Sunday to see some peeps and feed the frog. Fingers crossed that I get it all done! 🙂

Today’s post is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary. I’m not gonna lie, it was little weird not posting on Wednesday night. It’s my first week back as a player and we have a fun funky sketch to work with…

CCMC 229

I wanted to do something monochromatic so I went with Cherry Cobbler as my main color. And to that the base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background I stamped a piece of Very Vanilla with the Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler in a pattern to make my own Designer Series Paper! I used two pieces of paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack for the strips across the lower half of the card. The ornament is from the Delightful Decorations Stamp Set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and punched out with the Ornament Punch. I stamped the greeting in Cherry Cobbler from the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set and punched it out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. Both are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The ornament gets a heavy dose of bling from some Basic Jewels Rhinestones. I’m really happy with the way the card turned out and I love the Snowflake Soiree background. I hope that you enjoyed and are a little inspired by my Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge card for this week. Thank you for stopping by and I hope that you have an awesome Friday!

Create with Connie and Mary 228

A good Thursday Morning to you all! If it ‘s Thursday it’s Create with Connie and Mary day! This week is my last week as a Guest Designer on the blog. I want to thank all of the talented people over there. It was truly an honor to be a part of your fabulous team for two months. I hope that they will have me back again in the future! Now for today’s post, this week we have a color challenge…

What a fun color combination it is, and some Silver Glimmer Paper to boot! I have been wanting to use one of my new Single Stamps and I thought that this would be perfect for it. The base of my card is Wisteria Wonder and I used the Distressed Dots Background Stamp inked in Wisteria Wonder for the background. I stamped the image from the Happy New Year Single Stamp in Wisteria Wonder and Baja Breeze on Whisper White. The Wisteria Wonder one is cut out with the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies. I cut off the top and bottom and adhered it to a piece of Baja Breeze that I stamped with the Confetti Stamp Set in Baja Breeze and cut it out with the same Framelit. The ballon and the champagne bottle that are stamped in Baja Breeze are cut out and adhered to the Wisteria Wonder image with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The panels are also adhered to the card with them. Some Silver Glimmer Paper punched out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and the star from the Merry Minis Punch Set are also adhered with some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the top half of card. I like the popped up pieces on the main image and the stamp fits perfectly inside the Window Frame. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge. Thank you for coming to see me today. I hope that you have a pleasant day!

Happy Thursday! I hope that everyone is enjoying their week. Work is a little hectic and will be until the end of the month. I will be happy when December gets here! Thursday also means that it’s Create with Connie and Mary time! This week we have a shaped card to make. I think this is my first shaped card and it was fun! Here we go…

As soon as I saw the Blossom in the sketch I knew exactly what I was going to do! My card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. I cut two of the largest Labels Collection Framelits Dies and scored about 1/4″ on the top of the back one and adhered the two together with a little Sticky Strip. The background layer is a piece of Pool Party that I also cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Before I adhered it to the base I cut two piece of Basic Black 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon and adhered them around the back with Sticky Strip. The stamped image is the new Single Stamp Bold Snowflake that coordinates with the Blossom Punch. I stamped it in Pool Party on Whisper White. For the middle image I stamped the snowflake stamp from the Mixed Medley Host(ess) Stamp Set in Versa-Mark on Basic Black and heat embossed it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. It is then punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. Both if them are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and “fussy” cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces adhere it to the card. I love the Pool Party and Basic Black together. They give the card a bold frosty retro look! I hope that enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge. Don’t forget to visit the blog and see what the other talented ladies have come up with. While your at it, make one and post it so I can see your work! Thank you so much for stopping by. Have an awesome day! 🙂

Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge 226

Good morning! Well, someone in New York must have really annoyed mother nature! We got 3 inches of snow today and some more howling wind! Because hurricane Sandy wasn’t enough! I hope she’s done with us for a while. I stopped home last night and it was 38 degrees in my house, now that is a little cold! Yes, there is still no power. But some more people that I live near got theirs back tonight so maybe tomorrow. 😛

Today’s post is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a very nice color combination…

I love Midnight Muse. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do. At first I was thinking fall and then I thought no, a Christmas card. I do love non-traditional Holiday colors so this is perfect! The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Cajun Craze with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Then I adhered a piece of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back with Sticky Strip before I adhered it to the base. The stamped image is from the Snow Swirled Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse on Whisper White. I stamped one the of the snowflakes in More Mustard and punched it out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones give it just a little sparkle. The greeting is stamped in Cajun Craze. I backed them both with More Mustard and adhered them to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the elegance of the tree and the sparkle from the rhinestones. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. Don’t forget to visit the blog to see what all of the other talented designer have come up with and be sure to check out their Card Create-tions subscription for some great holiday card and gift ideas. Good morning! How are we all doing today? I’m doing ok. The no power and generator thing is getting old fast, but there are people out there a lot worse off than me so I guess I really shouldn’t complain. Sandy definitely left her mark here and it will be felt for a while I’m sure. Thank you to all of my readers for their concern. I really appreciate the comments! You guys rock!

It’s Thursday so it’s Create with Connie and Mary time! This week we have a nice simple sketch…

I changed it up just a little bit but most of the main elements are the same. The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I adhered a piece of Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper to the front so that it would be there for when I attached the top piece. A piece of Very Vanilla has the negative tree image cut out with the Holiday Collection Framelits Dies. I stamped the greeting in Cherry Cobbler from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals pop it up on the Cherry Cobbler base. A piece of Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is adhered around either side on the back with Sticky Strip. I used the Ticked Duo Builder Punch to punch out a piece of Gumball Green and adhered it to a pice of Cherry Cobbler that I used the small circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack to create the ticket corners on. Two Champagne Glimmer Paper trees punched out with the Merry Minis Punch Pack are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and give the card a little bling. It’s not a very complicated card to make and I am really liking the negative tree with the DSP behind it. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for Create with Connie and Mary this week. Thank you so much for spending some time with me today and enjoy the rest of your day!

Create with Connie and Mary 224 Color Challenge

Yeah! Today is Create with Connie and Mary day which means it must be Thursday! Only one more day to go until FRIDAY! How are we all doing? Things are good on my end, no complaints. So, this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge is a color challenge…

I was a happy boy when I saw that it included one of my favorite colors, Island Indigo! My card starts off with just that, a base of Island Indigo Card Stock. The background is a piece of Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper. I stamped the Daffodil Delight flagged piece with the Netting Background Stamp in Daffodil Delight. The Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch is used to make the edges with Island Indigo. The completed flagged piece is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. The image is from the Friendship Preserves Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and again in Lucky Limeade. I used the Window Frames Framelits Dies to cut each one out. I cut off the top and bottom of the Island Indigo one and then  mounted it to the Lucky Limeade piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Sticky Strip holds the piece of Island Indigo 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon behind the stamped piece and I used some more Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount it to the card. This would be a great quick and easy card to make for a thank you or even a birthday. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer Card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. Before I go I wanted to mention that Connie and Mary have a new subscription called Card “Create”tions.
