Mom’s Valentine

Good morning all, I hope you had a Valentine’s day filled with love and lots of chocolate! I had a nice dinner with my friend  Kim, baby Izzy and her brother Kevin. For today’s card I’m posting the Valentine that I gave to my mom. One of her favorite colors is purple so I used Wisteria Wonder Card Stock for the Base of the card. I used my Big Shot with the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on Very Vanilla for the background, I love the deep detail this folder gives. The Mixed Bunch Stamp Set and the Blossom Punch are two of my favorite items from the Occasions Mini. I stamped the flower in Wisteria Wonder Ink on Wisteria Wonder Card Stock and punched it out with the Blossom Punch. For the leaves I used the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch and inserted them half in the punch for a second time to make the leaf shape. A 2011-2012 In-Color Designer Printed Brad through the middle creates a great flower. The greeting is from the Messages for Mom Stamp Set, It’s really versatile because it comes with greetings that can be used for a variety of cards. I popped it all up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My mom also loves butterflies so I added two from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit for a great finish to the card. I hope you like the card as much as my mom did and thanks so much for stopping by!

Grammy’s 94th Birthday

Good morning all. The weekend is here! I hope you are all doing some fun stuff. I’m going to a Chinese New Year party later on tonight, that should be fun! This year marks my Grandmother’s 94th Birthday! She lives in Pennsylvania and I have fond memories of all of the time I spent there as a child. She loves flowers and had some of the nicest ones in her gardens that I have ever seen. There used to be poppies all along the fence. That’s what inspired the color combination for her card. I’m loving the new Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper in the Sale-A-Bration Catalog along with the Elementary Elegance Stamp Set where the sentiment and bird come from. You can get these items and many more for FREE with every $50 you spend form the Occasions Mini or Idea Book & Catalog. The beautiful flower is from the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set and is punched out with the Blossom Punch, both items can be found in the 2012 Occasions Mini. I stamped it in Poppy Parade and backed it with some Poppy Parade Card Stock punched out with the same punch. I have wanted to get the Family Reunion Stamp Set from the Idea Book & Catalog for a while and I’m glad that I did. It’s nice to be able to put Grandma on the card along with Happy Birthday. I punched it out with the Oval Punch and mounted it on Poppy Parade Card Stock punched out with the Scalloped Oval Punch. The frame around the sentiment was a great tip from Mary Fish (www.stampinpretty.com). I cut out the label with the Framelits Label Collection Dies and then used the Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder that fits perfectly inside the label. It gives it great detail and was super easy. A little bit of 1/2″ Stitched Poly Ribbon in Poppy Parade (thanks Nina Dee!) across the top of the Very Vanilla Card Stock that was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder give a nice separation from the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper. I love the way the card came out and hope you enjoyed it too. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Send Me Soaring Birthday

Hello everyone. It’s Friday!! I hope that everybody had a good week and is all ready for the weekend. Today’s card is a birthday card for my brother. His birthday is Sunday but I know that he already got the card. Masculine birthday cards can be a little challenging. I try to keep the flowery stuff off the card but still make it fun. The Send Me Soaring Stamp Set in the Occasions Mini is great for all kinds of cards. I used some Baja Breeze Card Stock for the background. The clouds were stamped in Not Quite Navy Ink and the I used an eyeshadow applicator to color them in with some Whisper White Craft Ink. The kites are stamped in More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Not Quite Navy. I cut them out and then used some thin string for the kite string. I hid the ends behind the sentiment which is from the Happiest Birthday Wishes Set. The Brother is from Family Reunion and both are stamped in Not Quite Navy. I think the card is masculine but still playful at the same time. I hope that like today’s card and thanks so much for stopping by!

Christmas Lodge Lovely Trees

Another card that I made for Christmas was cased from another Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Ann Schach. She made a gorgeous card back in November using the Christmas Lodge Stamp Set. For a backdrop she used the Lovely As a Tree Wood Mount Set. I used the same idea to make my Dad’s card. The Lodge and Trees are stamped in Early Espresso, with the second set of trees stamped off to give it some depth. For even more depth the lodge was cut out and put on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used a little Dazzling Details on the roof for a little snow effect. The 1 1/4″ Square punch is an easy way to make the flags on either side of the greeting (a tip from Mary Fish!). The edges of the Very Vanilla Card Stock were sponged with Crumb Cake and the greeting was rubbed in Cherry Cobbler. The box uses the same lodge but stamped in Cherry Cobbler with the greeting from Petite Pairs. It’s a nice masculine card and my dad liked it, I hope you do too. Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Butterfly Christmas & Sneak Peek

So Christmas has come and gone. I hope that everyone got what they wanted and that you all had a great day. I’ll be posting some items that I made that I couldn’t post before because the people they were intended for would have seen them! Here is the Christmas Card that I made for my mom along with a box that matches the card. I used some Elegant Eggplant, Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla Card Stock. The beautiful doily is the new Paper Doily Large Sizzlits Die available in a few days (January 4th) from the new Occasions Mini Catalog. It’s very intricate and looks great with the butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die. The greeting on the card is from the Contempo Christmas Set and I punched a little Silver Glimmer paper with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack for a little bling. On the box I used the Lace Ribbon Border Punch and the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and then ran it through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The greeting on the box os from the Sincere Salutations Wood Mount Set. My mom loved the card and box and I hope you like them too. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mom’s birthday. She is the best mom anyone could ever ask for. I know a lot of people say that about their moms but she really is. I wanted to make her a really special card and I was looking around on the Stampin’ Pretty (http://www.stampinpretty.com/) blog yesterday and I came across a link to Mikki’s Creative Corner (http://mikkiscreativecorner.blogspot.com/) and a tutorial for a Tri Shutter Card. This is one of the coolest cards I have seen in a long time. I love the way it looks and the instructions were nice and easy to follow. I made mine with White Card Stock and a Deep Purple. I used some printed paper that I had (waiting for my DSP from Stampin’ Up!, think how much better it will look when I get that!) and some EK Tools Punches that I have. The sentiment is from the Stampin’ Up! Retired Afterthoughts Set. I’m so happy with the way it come out, I hope mom likes it!

Happy Anniversary

Today is my parent’s wedding anniversary. I think they have been together for 43 years! I like to make cards specific to a persons taste. My mom loves the color purple and butterflies. That made designing this card simple. I used my Butterfly Layering Punch from EK Tools and punched out two different shades of purple. I also used the CuttleBug Swirls Embossing Folder for the background. The stamps are from studio g. Unfortunately I didn’t have a happy anniversary stamp so I used two different ones that convey the same message. My mom loved the card and the fact that I used her favorite color and that I used butterflies which she commented on as soon as she opened it! I hope that they have many more happy years together!

Some More Flowers

It was my Birthday last week and while I love getting cards (like the beautiful one from my friend Sandy!) I love making them and sending them out even more. I sent out some thank you cards to friends and family but I had to make a special simple card for my grandmother. She’s in her 90’s and lives in Pennsylvania. I’ll always remember all of the flowers that she used to plant in her garden every spring. There was every kind imaginable. She doesn’t get to do that anymore so I thought she might like some on her card. I used the Polka Dots Embossing Folder from CuttleBug for the background. The stamp is from the Stampin’ Up! retired Terrific Tags set along with the Tag Punch. I used EK Tools Flower and Retro Flower Two Piece Punch set to punch out the flowers and the GingerBread Man Builder Punch to punch out the centers for the flowers. A little bit of jute string finishes off the tag.
