Paper Craft Crew 74 & Sneak Peek

Happy New Year peeps!! I hope this year bring many great things for us all! I know that all of you made 2013 an amazing year for me and I thank you!! I spent New Years Eve with my friends Brian & Kim and the kiddies. There was some wine and lot of food! Good friends always make for the best time! I’m also celebrating a milestone today, this is my 731 consecutive post! That’s two full years of a post every day!! Thank you all again!! 🙂

My first card of 2014 is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge and here is this week’s sketch…

PCCCS074 1-01-2014

The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Smoky Slate that I embossed with the “Vintage” Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (which you can pick up on the Clearance Rack by the way!). I adhered a piece Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around the back before I adhered it to the card. The four chevrons on the right are punched out with Chevron Border Punch and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the See Ya Later Stamp Set** and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Daffodil Delight cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies*. Two pieces of Bermuda Bay are punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and two Brights Candy Dots are adhered on top. Across the bottom is a piece of Daffodil Delight that is cut out with the Label Card Thinlits Dies. I love the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder with the new stamp from Sale-A-Bration, they go so well together! Thank you so much for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. Check out the blog to see what my fellow design team members have come up with. Have a wonderful 2014!! 🙂

SUO Challenges 87 & Sneak Peek

Well, here we are, the last day of 2013! Can you believe that it’s over? I think that the year just flew by. It seems like just yesterday I was at Convention. And now in a little over a week, I’ll be leaving for Leadership. Amazing just how fast things move. Hopefully it’s warmer in Texas than it is here because it was freezing today and it’s supposed to be 12 degrees on Friday! Brrrr!

For my last post of the year I have my card for the SUO Challenge. This time we ask you to create a card using January colors…

SUO Challenges 87-WM

When I think of January, I think of cold, so I used blues and some snowflakes for my card. The base of my card is Island Indigo. For the background I used a piece of the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper. Another piece of Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Island Indigo is on top of that. A banner of the Silver Foil Sheet goes across that and my flag is cut out from a piece of Bermuda Bay with the Banners Framelits Dies* and embossed with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Two more pieces of the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper are cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Bring on the Cake Stamp Set, is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with the Word Bubble Framelits*. How’s that for a festive, chilly birthday card?! If you’ll notice, I didn’t tell you what the name of the Designer Series Paper that is backed with Island Indigo is called. Let’s play a fun little game! Let’s see how many of you can tell me what it’s called. From all of you that answer correctly, I will select one random person and send them a little surprise. No cheating and reading the other comments. LOL! I hope you enjoyed my SUO Challenges card this time around. Head on over to the blog to see what the other designers have come up and don’t forget to enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the challenge! Have a great day, and we’ll see you back here next year! Woo hoo!!

Oh, and don’t forget that if you want any of the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper or Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack you only have three days left to order it before it’s gone! 🙂

Perfect Peachy Notes Sneak Peek

Ahh yes, the weekend! Everyones favorite time of the week, well, at least my favorite! Work again was pretty calm yesterday and I’m sure that will change come next week. It was really cold here again, I’m over that! In less than two weeks I’ll be in Houston for Leadership! It really has come quickly but I’m really excited to go, it’s going to be a good time! 🙂

My card for today has a bit of a funny story behind it. A friend of mine, Emily, had said that she liked the Mr. & Mrs. card that I had done for last week’s Pals Paper Arts but wasn’t sold on the Stamp Set because of the “bathroom” couple. I had to think for a minute and then I realized that she meant the stamp I have used on my card today. She said that if I could show her a card that makes them not look like “bathroom” people she would like the Stamp Set better. So here is what I have come up with…

The base of my card is Pool Party Card Stock and I used a piece of So Saffron for the background. A strip of paper from the I Am Me Designer Series Paper Pack goes down the left side. My main image is from the Perfect Couple Stamp Set* and is stamped in Basic Gray on Pool Party and the mini heart is punched out with the Owl Builder Punch. The frame around it is created using the Squares Collection Framelits Dies and the Oh Snap! is form the Hip Notes Stamp Set* and is stamped in Real Red. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The hearts are punched out from Real Red with the Small Heart Punch. I used the Peachy Keen Stamp Set* to stamp the arrows along the bottom and they are cut out with the On Film Framelits Dies*. I also cut out a piece of Silver Foil Sheet with them for the camera. All of the elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and some silver sequins complete the card. So, what do you think? Do they still look like “bathroom” people? I don’t think they do at all! I hope you enjoyed today’s card and thank you, as always, for stopping by! Enjoy your Saturday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 185 & Sneak Peek

Ahh.. you gotta love a little holiday on a Wednesday because it makes Friday come that much quicker! Work today was quiet again and I’m loving it. I had to go to the eye Dr. for my yearly exam after work and then I had some dinner and finished up some projects that needed to get done. I’ll be off to Manhattan on Sunday for a bit so I hope to get some pictures for you guys! Thank you for all of your sweet comments about yesterday’s post and little Daniel. You guys are the best!

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to thank the team over at Pals Paper Arts for choosing my card as one of the their top three picks for last week’s challenge. You can see my original post here and the winners post here. This week is the last Pals Paper Arts challenge of the year! I don’t know about you but 2013 flew by! This week the talented Nicole has given us a nice simple sketch…

PPA 185

This was one of this times where I saw the card before I sat down at the desk! The base of my card is Pool Party Card Stock. For the background I stamped a piece of Crumb Cake with the Hardwood Background Stamp* inked with Crumb Cake. A strip of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack* is backed with some Real Red and adhered to the card on the right side. I cut out a piece of Pool Party with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies and stamped the greeting in Real Red from the Express Yourself Host(ess) Stamp Set. My flower is from the Simple Stems Stamp Set* and is stamped in Real Red and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the flower and the label to the card. I love the colors in the Fresh Prints DSP, well I love the colors in all of the new DSP! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. Only a little over a week until you can order from the 2014 Occasion Catalog, get your lists ready! Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic Friday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 73 & Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope that you have a day planned with family and friends and that you get everything that you want for Christmas! It’s funny how your outlook on Christmas changes through the years. It used to be all about the gifts and now for me it’s about knowing that the people that are important to me are healthy and happy and that I get to spend time with the ones that I care about. Not just on Christmas but all through the year. Time is precocious and we need to remember that. Speaking of people, Andrew’s surgery went well and he is comfortably recovering at home. He read all of your comments yesterday and remarked that people can be so nice. He thanks you for keeping him your thoughts as do I. I also want to thank all of you for your visits and comments, they really brighten my days and keep me going! It may sound cheesy but your guys are the best!

Today is not only Christmas day but it’s also time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

PCCCS073 Sketch 12-25-2013

Since yesterday’s card was so simple I needed a nice full one today! My card starts off with a base of Smoky Slate Card Stock and a piece of Pool Party for the background. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the greeting from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler. The strip across the middle is a piece of paper from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. I adhered some Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around the back with Sticky Strip before I adhered it to the card. Two flagged pieces, one Smoky Slate and one Cherry Cobbler, sit behind a piece of Bermuda Bay that I cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies. The Festive Paper-Piercing Pack is used to pierce just the sides. My snowflake is cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies from a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. In the middle is one of the Frosted Finishes Embellishments backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. The small chevrons along the bottom are cut out with the Circle Card Thinlits and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two Basic Jewel Rhinestones and another piece of ribbon tied in knot complete the card. I love the Bermuda Bay and Pool Party with the Cherry Cobbler, you know me, I’m all about non-traditional! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. Stop by the blog and check out the other Designer’s projects and enter yours in the gallery. Thanks so much for stopping by to see me. I wish you and all of your peeps a very Happy Christmas! 🙂

Mojo 325 & Sneak Peek

Happy Christmas Eve! I guess I’d better get to my shopping at some point today! LOL! Nothing like waiting until the last minute! Work was blissful yesterday, there wasn’t much going on and it was quite desolate! Love it when it’s like that! My friend Andrew is having eye surgery this morning so if you would keep him in your thoughts I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. This week the clever Theresa Kline has given us a nice simple one…

Mojo325

I was inspired by Mary Fish’s card that she has done for the sketch. I really like the piece missing out of the background. The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock. I took a piece of Coastal Cabana and used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the circle from the lower left. After that I embossed it with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Starburst Saying Stamp Set* and is stamped in Tangerine Tango and cut out with the Starburst Framelits*. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that to card. The strip across the top is a piece of Whisper White that I covered with some Retro Fresh This & That Designer Washi Tape* and that too is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A simple but fun and colorful card. I really do like the starburst goodies a lot, can you tell! LOL! Thanks you for taking some time out of your busy Holiday preparations to check out my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I hope that you all have a lovely Christmas Eve!

Pals Paper Arts 184 & Sneak Peek

Well, it was a beautiful day here yesterday! It was so nice that I even had the top down in the car for a while! I had a fun relaxing day. I had breakfast with Andrew and then we went to the mall. We met Heather at BJ’s and the went to Friday’s for lunch and I ended up back at Friday’s for dinner with Maureen! I even squeezed in some crafting time! It was a really nice day! 🙂

Thanks so much to Diane for choosing my card last week for pick! You can see my original post here and the Pals Paper Arts post here. My card for today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This week we have an interesting sketch from Margaret Moody…

PPA 184

I wanted a overly blingy card and that’s just what I got! My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of Basic Black that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is the bling! I cut strips of Silver and Champagne Glimmer Paper and adhered them to a piece of Crumb Cake (not sure why Crumb Cake… LOL!). After I had them all adhered I trimmed off the excess and mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Perfect Couple Stamp Set* and the words are heat embossed with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The mustache, stamped in Basic Black, and the lips, stamped in Real Red are cut out with my Paper Snips and coated in Crystal Effects to give it some shine. The greeting is cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies and adhered to the panel of Real Red, embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with a piece of Basic Black. My heart is cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits from a piece of Red Glimmer Paper and backed with another heart from the Hearts Collection Framelits. I love the mustache and lips coated with the Crystal Effects, I haven’t used it such a long time! Thanks so much for checking in with me today to see my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I hope that you all have a fun Sunday!

Control Freaks December Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Hello everyone and welcome to the December Control Freaks Blog Tour featuring the 2014 Occasions Catalog preview! If you are following the tour then you have arrived here from Leann Greff’s blog. Wasn’t her stuff awesome?! I have two projects for you today. One is a masculine friendship card and the other is a box of note cards.

First up is the card. For the base I used Pacific Point Card Stock. On top of that is a piece of Whisper White stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp* in Smoky Slate. My greeting is from the Hello, Sailor Stamp Set*, stamped in Pacific Point and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Summer Starfruit cut out with the Starburst Collection Framelits Dies*. Two pieces of paper from the High Tide Designer Series Paper* and a piece of Gold Foil Sheet are all flagged underneath. Finally, another piece of Gold Foil Sheet is punched out with the star from the Merry Mini’s Punch Pack and adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional to finish off the card. I’m loving the Hardwood Background Stamp and the nautical theme of the stamp set and the DSP.

Control Freaks December Blog Tour - Occasions Card

My second project is a cute little box that contains four notecards that could easily be slipped into someone’s bag or briefcase to brighten their day. The box is made with the Envelope Punch Board. Deb Valder had a really neat video on YouTube showing how to make a box out of the Envelope Punch Board. My box is made from a piece of Basic Gray Card Stock and my fastener is made with two Candy Dot Brad Bases and two pieces of Basic Black Card Stock punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. Some Whisper White Bakers Twine ties it together. A piece of Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper* is on the front and three triangles from the Geometrical Stamp Set* are stamped in Strawberry Slush, Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry and punched out with the Triangle Punch*. My four notecards use the same stamp set. Two are stamped in Strawberry Slush, one in Crushed Curry and one in Bermuda Bay. The Strawberry Slush ones are backed with Strawberry Slush Card Stock and the triangles are punched out with the Triangle Punch*. The Crushed Curry card is backed with Crushed Curry and the circles are punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. Finally, the Bermuda Bay is backed with Bermuda Bay and the chevrons are cut out with my Paper Snips. The shapes on all of the note cards are held on with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Who wouldn’t want to find one of these little cards in their bag to put a smile on their face and let them know someone’s thinking about them?!

Paper Craft Crew 72 & Sneak Peek

What a lovely day it was here yesterday! I woke up to it snowing and it continued to snow for most of the first half of the day. Around 2:00pm it started to rain which was ok because it washed a way most of the snow. The only bad part was that it was about 26 degrees here last night so that turned most everything into a skating rink! Wait, it is going to be in the 60’s here over the weekend! Maybe we can will it to stay!! LOL! My day for the most part was good otherwise. My friend stopped by for a bit, I got my Christmas cards written out and I worked on a project. Now tomorrow to print the address labels and mail those cards!

Today I have my post for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This week we have a neat little sketch for you…

PCCCS072 12-18-2013

I wanted to show you some more goodies from the 2014 Occasions Catalog so that’s all I used! The base of my card is Gumball Green Card Stock and my background is a piece of the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper*. My flower and bee are from the Springtime Hello Stamp Set*, the bee is stamped in Basic Black and the flower is markered with Gumball Green and Daffodil Delight. I used the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies to cut out my stamped image and a lager one to put behind it. Some of the Gold Sequin Trim is adhere to the backing along the edge and the stamped piece is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set* and is stamped in Gumball Green and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card and some loose sequins finish it off. I LOVE the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper* and the we all know how I feel about sequins! Thank you for checking out my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Check out the other projects on the blog and let’s see what you come up! Occasions Catalog Sneak Peek

Happy Sunday! My work Holiday party was a lot of fun last night! There were a ton of people there and some delicious food. They play a “Bad Santa” game where you bring a wrapped gift and then you pick a number to decided your turn to choose. You can pick a new gift or steal one from someone else. The person that picks number one gets to go at the end and take whatever they want! I ended up with a Google Chromcast with a little help from some friends! Like I said lots of fun! Here are a few pictures from last night. I’m also sporting my new haircut! LOL!

Danielle & Me CL 2013

This is Danielle and I in front of the fireplace, they did a really nice job decorating their house!

Ant Nic & Me CL 2013

Here I am with Anthony and Nicole, like I said a really good time! 🙂

For today’s post I have a card that I made for Danielle’s mom’s birthday. I CASE’d the tag from the 2014 Occasions Catalog. I thought it would make a nice focal point for a card. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and some Strawberry Slush backed with a piece of Brushed Gold for my background. The tag is created with a piece of the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum* backed with a piece of Whisper White. I punched two holes in the top and threaded some Whisper White Bakers Twine through and tied it in a bow. The greeting is from the Starburst Sayings Stamp Set* and is stamped in Strawberry Slush and cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies*. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the pieces to the card. I really like that even though it’s a simple card the greeting and the Designer Vellum give it a little wow! Thanks so much for stopping by to see my card and I hope that you enjoyed the pictures too! Have a great Sunday! 🙂
