Fab Friday 48

T G I F!! T G I F!! T G I F!! Can you tell that I’m excited that it’s Friday?!?! I’m not going to lie, I’m over work this week, too many things that shouldn’t be given to me to do are given to me. I have a few errands to run today, like the Apple Store so that will make the day much better! It was a gorgeous day here yesterday in the high 70’s and a slight breeze with plenty of sun! It sure doesn’t feel like August and I hope that this doesn’t mean that there will be another bad winter! But I’m really enjoying it at the moment! Tonight I have some crafty things to do and at some point over the weekend I would like to get the Stampin’ Galley a little more organized! We’ll see how that goes! LOL! What do they say about the best laid plans?! What’s on for the weekend for you people?!

Today is a very special Friday not just because it a Fab Friday but it’s a special Fab Friday! Mindy had her little baby boy Ian!! We decided to surprise her with a little change of plans! We all made baby card this time! Congratulations Mindy and Jon!! He’s adorable!!

Fab Friday Baby-001

I went with a nice simple card that would be easy to duplicate, I actually know quite a few people that have had babies lately. Little Daniel turned nine months old yesterday and is crawling and sitting up already! They do grow up so fast! My card begins with a base of Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. The background is a piece of Lullaby Designer Series Paper, I punched the left side with the Scallop Edge Border Punch and adhered it to the base with SNAIL. My large flag is a piece of Hello Honey and I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the circle in the middle. Across the top is a piece of Coastal Cabana that I trimmed with the Small Scallop Stampin’ Trimmer Rotary Cutting Blade and adhered it to the flag with Multi-Purpose Glue. Before adhering it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I stamped my sentiment from the Dear Heart Photopolymer Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. The sweet onesie is from the Something for Baby Stamp Set and is stamped in Pistachio Pudding and cut out with the Baby’s First Framelits. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that in place too. Like I said simple but I love the layout and the colors! I really hope that Mindy and you both enjoyed the card and that Mindy was surprised! That’s my card for this week’s Welcome Ian challenge for Fab Friday. Head on over to the blog to see what my teammates have done and let’s see what you can come up with! Thank you for coming by to see me today, I hope that you all have a fabulous Friday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 143 and a Quilt!

I had a very busy day yesterday! Busy but in a good way! I was up quite late on Thursday night, my friend Heather stopped by at 12:30AM with a large bottle of wine that needed finishing, I had to help her! I got up yesterday morning a lot later than I usually do and got right to organizing and putting stuff away. Andrew came by around 1:00PM with pizza for lunch, just when you think he can’t get any better! He helped me put up shelves and pictures, organize and put away more stuff. I feel very accomplished and that makes me very happy! I watched a movie last night, Non-Stop with Liam Neeson, a very good but tense movie. Those are fun sometimes aren’t they?! This morning I have a lot on my list too. I need to see if I can get the rest of my stuff out of the old apartment and work on some projects for tomorrow’s Creation Station Blog Tour. I’m also going to head into Manhattan around 2:00Pm to meet up with my friend Kim. Satellite Lane has a proposal to do in Central Park and we are going to go and see that. After Andrew, Kim and I are going to go and have some dinner and drinks! A busy day, I hope I can get it all done!

One of the best parts of my blog is getting to know some of you through comments and emails. A very sweet friend of mine, Grace, shares some pictures with me from time to time. The other day she sent me a picture of a quilt that she had made. I was amazed at how beautiful it is! I know some people that quilt and it’s not easy work. I asked her if I could share the picture with you and she graciously said yes! Here it is in all it’s glory…

Log Cabin Quilt-WM

Isn’t it gorgeous! Great colors and patterns! Thank you Grace for letting me share your beautiful creation!

One more thing before I get to today’s card. Someone had asked me the other day what I call my craft space. I don’t have a name for it. I thought it would be fun to get suggestions from you! You guys always have such inventive ways to describe things. I posted a picture of it the other day and you can see it HERE. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think it should be called!

Now on to today’s card which is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Cindy L….

Freshly Made Sketches #143

I love the layout! So many possibilities! I used some Crumb Cake Card Stock for the base of the card. The stars are created with the Hearts & Stars Mask, a Sponge Dauber and Crumb Cake Ink. A strip of paper from the Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper Pack goes across the bottom. Next up I cutout a piece of Bermuda Bay with two of the Circles Collection Framelits. A piece of Vellum Card Stock is also cut out and adhered behind the circle with Multi-Purpose Glue and a little more glue adheres it to the card. A strip of Pistachio Pudding and a one of Basic Gray, with the right side flagged, are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals on top of the Designer Series Paper. My greeting is from the Hi There Stamp Set and is stamped in Tangelo Twist and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. To add a little sparkle I adhered three Pistachio Pudding 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins to the vellum circle. The masked stars are a fun addition to the background and I love those sequins! Thanks for taking a little time out of your busy day to come by and visit with me to see my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. You all make my days better! Don’t forget to let me know what my stamp space should be called by leaving a comment. I hope that you also enjoyed Grace’s quilt as much as I did! Have a wonderful Saturday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 137 & Bonus!

I was hoping that Friday would be a nice easy day but alas that was not meant to be. They are building out he warehouse at work and my department got to move boxes around all day. I haven’t been to the gym in a while but I definitely feel like I went yesterday! It was overcast all day and rained last night. I did go to IHOP with Anthony and Bill for dinner. I haven’t had IHOP in ages. I was good and got the low calories pancake and eggs. I do love  a little breakfast for dinner! I came home and watched a movie and then just relaxed. It was a good way to end a busy day. What do all of you have planned for this long weekend? I’m playing it by ear. 🙂

I have my Freshly Made Sketches sketches card for this week’s challenge for you today. There is also a bonus card at the end of the post! This week’s sketch is given to us by Jen M….

Freshly Made Sketches #137

A very simple sketch so I stayed true to it with my card. The base is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Hello Honey that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Across the lower part of the card is a piece of Moonlight Designer Series Paper. I love how nicely the embossing folder and the paper go together. My greeting is from the Everyday Occasions Card Making Kit and is stamped in Lost Lagoon. I used the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits to cut it out. It’s backed with some Basic Gray and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two butterflies that I punched out from Lost Lagoon with the Bitty Butterfly Punch are adhered to the right of the greeting. Simple card with some of my favorite new In-Colors and DSP. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Scroll down a little to see my extra card for you for today. Thank you so much for dropping by, have a great Saturday! 🙂

Paper Players 195 & a Few Extras!

Happy Monday! Yes, happy because yesterday was such an amazingly gorgeous day here on Long Island. I mean perfect temperatures, in the low 70’s and the sun was shining, there was even a slight breeze. Just complete bliss! I went and met my friend Joe for breakfast. He is in town from Los Angeles for a bit. We went to the diner and then came back to my house and caught up. It was good to see him, it’s been over a year. He is here for a little bit longer so I hope to see him again before he goes back. After I went for a nice ride in the convertible and I did manage to craft for a bit and watched a little TV too. All in all an almost perfect day! Also, thank you all so much for your wonderful comments on both cards from yesterday’s post. I really appreciate you taking the time to write and I know that Andrew does too! I hope that your Sunday was just as amazing!

If you scroll to the bottom of the post you will see the cards that I made for my friend Danielle. They are all duplicates of ones I have made before. One is a recent one and the other two are from a long time ago. 🙂

Monday, yes, that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my talented friend Sandy has given us a color challenge with a great inspiration picture…

Paper Players #195

Today’s card is sort of a toned down collage card. I used only two stamp sets! I’m just as shocked as you are! LOL! The base is So Saffron Card Stock and I stamped the images from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set in So Saffron right on the base. A piece of Gold Foil Sheet cut out with the On Film Framelits is adhered to the base to frame a piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper that I punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. I stamped the image in the circle in Calypso Coral from the same set and punched it out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, it serves as the anchor for the rest of the goodies. The flowers are also from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set, I heat embossed them with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Calypso Coral and then cut them out with my Paper Snips. Some Pear Pizzaz cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit are tucked behind them. My greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is stamped in Pear Pizzaz. I cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits and also a piece of Gold Foil Sheet to back it. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. I think it’s a fun eclectic card and I love the gold accents, they go so nicely with the So Saffron and Calypso Coral. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy. I so appreciate you coming and spending some time with me. I hope that you all have a great Monday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 203 & Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you wonderful mothers out there! Where would we be without you? In big trouble and if the truth be told not here at all! I do have a Mother’s Day card for you today but it’s not mine. I had a very nice relaxing day yesterday. I got my haircut and then crafted for a bit. I watched some TV and then Andrew stopped by to make his mom a Mother’s Day card. I think he did a great job! He used the Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers and even did some fussy cutting! I have the pictures to prove it too! Here he is coloring…

Andrew Coloring

And here he is fussy cutting…

Andrew Fussy Cutting

The funny thing is I asked him if he wanted a stamp that had a Framelit and he said yes. After he cut them out he didn’t like the white around the flower so he ended up cutting them out anyway. He did an awesome job coloring and cutting. He did some heat embossing too. And here is the card that he made for his mom…

Andrew MD 2014-WM

I think he did a great job! I’m sure that she will love it! And the flowers are just amazing! You’ll have to let us know what you think! 🙂

Now off to my card which is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 203

When I see theses colors I think of fall but I decided that if your mom liked the colors my card might even make a good Mother’s Day card! LOL! I needed a collage style card. There are a lot of goodies on it so be warned! The base of the card is Cajun Craze Card Stock. I adhered one of the Tea Lace paper Doilies in the right corner for a little background. Next up is a piece of Very Vanilla that I cut the top edge of with the File Tabs Edgelits Dies. I stamped the greeting from the Countless Sayings 1 & 2 Photopolymer Stamp Sets in Night of Navy. In the lower right is a piece of Night of Navy that I cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and then trimmed some of it away. The angled strip of Cajun Craze is embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and on top of it are two tickets from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set. They are stamped in Night of Navy and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. Above that is a piece of Night of Navy that I cut out with one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies. The xoxo is from the same and is cut out from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. My tag is a piece of Night of Navy that I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder on. I also Paper-Pierced around the edge with the Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack*. A piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon tied with some White Bakers Twine goes through the top. My flowers are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are stamped in Cajun Craze on Cajun Craze. I used the Gold Stampin’ Dazzle Marker to make the centers. Last up is a Regals Designer Button adhered with the new Fast Fix Adhesive. Like I said there is a lot but I think that it all works quite well together. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge and also Andrew’s Mother’s Day Card. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope that you all have a great Sunday and a wonderful Mother’s Day! 🙂

Perfect Peachy Notes Sneak Peek

Ahh yes, the weekend! Everyones favorite time of the week, well, at least my favorite! Work again was pretty calm yesterday and I’m sure that will change come next week. It was really cold here again, I’m over that! In less than two weeks I’ll be in Houston for Leadership! It really has come quickly but I’m really excited to go, it’s going to be a good time! 🙂

My card for today has a bit of a funny story behind it. A friend of mine, Emily, had said that she liked the Mr. & Mrs. card that I had done for last week’s Pals Paper Arts but wasn’t sold on the Stamp Set because of the “bathroom” couple. I had to think for a minute and then I realized that she meant the stamp I have used on my card today. She said that if I could show her a card that makes them not look like “bathroom” people she would like the Stamp Set better. So here is what I have come up with…

The base of my card is Pool Party Card Stock and I used a piece of So Saffron for the background. A strip of paper from the I Am Me Designer Series Paper Pack goes down the left side. My main image is from the Perfect Couple Stamp Set* and is stamped in Basic Gray on Pool Party and the mini heart is punched out with the Owl Builder Punch. The frame around it is created using the Squares Collection Framelits Dies and the Oh Snap! is form the Hip Notes Stamp Set* and is stamped in Real Red. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The hearts are punched out from Real Red with the Small Heart Punch. I used the Peachy Keen Stamp Set* to stamp the arrows along the bottom and they are cut out with the On Film Framelits Dies*. I also cut out a piece of Silver Foil Sheet with them for the camera. All of the elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and some silver sequins complete the card. So, what do you think? Do they still look like “bathroom” people? I don’t think they do at all! I hope you enjoyed today’s card and thank you, as always, for stopping by! Enjoy your Saturday! 🙂

Simple Monday Birthday

Here we go again, back to Monday. How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was good, I got all of my projects finished! I watched a movie, spent time with my friends and the child. It was a very productive weekend and those are my favorite kind. It’s supposed to rain here today but I’ll be at work so it’s all good.

Today I have a birthday card that I made for one of my co-workers. Nicole loves the beach and actually lives quite close to it on the north shore of Long Island. Because of that I felt some seashells would be a good addition to the card. The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I tore the bottom of the front panel of Costal Cabana and also tore another piece that I adhered underneath, I thought it gave the illusion of waves. The shells are stamped in Costal Cabana from the By the Seashore Stamp Set on Crumb Cake. A little work with my Paper Snips and I adhered them to the bottom. The greeting is from the now “Vintage” Beautiful Birthday Stamp and is stamped in Early Espresso so it stands out a little better. I used the new Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set to give the effect of sand on the bottom of the inside that peeks out. Nicole loved the card and I was impressed that I was able to tear the card stock, I have a big aversion to doing that but I like the effect! Thank you for stopping by to see what I’m up to, I appreciate your visit and comments. I wish a very happy Monday! 🙂

Memorable Apothecary Thoughts Special Occasion

Hello there! Even though the weekend was a three day one for me it still seemed to fly. I did get a lot accomplished and spent some time relaxing and seeing friends. I got to watch the two little munchkins Izzy and Savannah yesterday and then went back over for a BBQ in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day here, not too hot and nice and sunny. All in all a very nice weekend indeed. Now if only we could get a three day weekend every week! LOL!

Today I have a card and frame that I made for a friend at work. It’s his parent’s 60th wedding anniversary. Wow! 60 years together, that’s quite an incredible feat. He asked if I could make him a card for them, he said that he hear that I made nice cards. I said that I would be happy to. I also got to scan in their wedding album and there was this photo that I saw and I knew that I wanted to do something to it. I knew just what I was going to do too.

For the card I started with a base of Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock and rounded the bottom corners. The stamped image is from the Apothecary Art Stamp Set and is stamped three times, once in Costal Cabana*, again in Crisp Cantaloupe* and one more time in Smokey Slate*. The Costal Cabana* one is cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and backed with a piece of Brushed Silver Specialty Card Stock. For the Crisp Cantaloupe* one I fussy cut the wreath out and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Smokey Slate* is just the banner and I heat embossed the greeting from Loving Thoughts Stamp Set with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and adhered it with more Dimensionals. The 60th is from the Memorable Moments Stamp Set and is stamped in Costal Cabana* and fussy cut too. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones finish the card.

RSB Parent's Anniv Card 2013

The frame has an antiqued silver finish. I printed the photo out on photo paper and then printed it again and just cut out the invitation. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals pop up the invitation to give it some depth. The flowers are just simple ribbon flowers that I picked up at the craft store and individually glued them to the picture. They matched the flowers that were in his mother’s bouquet perfectly. I thought it was a nice way to give the picture some added depth and sentimental value. Below is the whole frame and a close up of the flowers.

RSB Parent's Anniversary Frame

RSB Parent's Anniversary 5-27-2013 Edited

The person asked me how much I wanted for the card and I said let it be my gift to your parents. He said that my gift was being kind enough to share my talent with others. I can’t explain how great that made me feel. He really like the card and the frame. I was very to happy to have been able to make such an important card, one that I probably won’t get to make again. I hope that you enjoyed seeing both of the projects and that you are inspired to do something a little different once in a while, it can be a lot of fun! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Woo hoo! The color renovation has been announced! I’m so happy that they have kept four of the five 2011-2013 In-Colors! I’m a little sad to see that Lucky Limeade didn’t make the cut but we also got some former In-Colors back too! Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzaz and Blushing Bride along with a new color Smokey Shadow. They have also moved some colors to different families and of course they are retiring some colors. Say so long to Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Bravo Burgundy, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard and River Rock. Change is a good thing!

Stampin’ Up! has released their first Photopolymer Stamp Set! It’s called Designer Typeset! The great thing about Photopolymer Stamps is that they are completely clear so you can see exactly where you are going to stamp. They work amazingly with our new Firm Foam Stampin’ Pads for great ink coverage. You are going to love them! This is a limited release so make sure you get one before it’s gone!

Stampin’ Up! has a sneak peek for you from the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog and the best part is you can get it right now! It’s called A Round Array and you can get it as a bundle with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch for $23.95 or just the Stamp Set for  $14.95. You can purchase this now through May 30th. Control Freaks February Blog Tour!

freakwelcome

Hello everyone and welcome to the February Control Freaks Blog Tour! This month’s tour features projects from the 2013 Spring Catalog. If you are following the tour you have arrived here form the very talented Connie Babbert’s blog. She always has such awesome projects doesn’t she?! I have two projects to share with you today. The first one is a journal an the second one is an album with a matching box.

First up is the journal. I found these white journals in Target in the dollar section a few months ago and I thought it would be perfect to decorate with some Stampin’ Up! goodies! The background is created using some So Saffron Card Stock and the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. On top of that is one of the Tea Lace Doilies with a piece of Early Espresso that I cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit. The pinwheels are made from Tea for Two Designer Series Paper. I cut out the squares from the paper and then cut down from the corner and used my Bone Folder to curl them a little. A quick punch with the 1/16″ Circle Punch and a Metallic Brad and they are done. They are held in place with Some Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Made for You Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso, punched out with the Large Oval Punch and backed with a piece of Island Indigo that is punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch. A nice fun spring journal that you could use to jot down thoughts or give as a nice gift to a friend.

Next up is the album and matching box. The box is made with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool using Not Quite Navy and Daffodil Delight. The top of the box is decorated with a background of Daffodil Delight that I stamped with the Netting Background Stamp in Daffodil Delight. A piece of Crumb Cake is cut out with the Oval Collection Framelits Dies. On top of that is a piece of paper from the Parker’s Patterns Designer Series Paper that I flagged on both ends. A piece of Very Vanilla is stamped with the Basic Label Single Stamp in Cajun Craze and cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Die. The year is stamped in Island Indigo using the Memorable Moments Stamp Set and backed with a piece of Marina Mist. Two Neutrals Brads are on either side. The SF is stamped in Not Quite Navy from the Morning Post Alphabet Stamp Set and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The cover also uses Parker’s Prints Designer Series Paper and the Basic Label Stamp. A piece of Very Vanilla is stamped with the image from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set in Crumb Cake and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. The California is stamped in Not Quite Navy with the Simply Serif Mini Alphabet. A Silver Basic Designer with some Very Vanilla 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon Ribbon threaded and  is adhered with some Mini Glue Dots in the upper left. Some Natural 7/16″ Ribbon Trim holds it together.

All of the pages inside use Parker’s Prints Designer Series Paper too. On the first page I stamped the tickets from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set in Not Quite Navy and punched them out with Ticket Duo Builder Punch. On the second page the sister is from the Amazing Family Stamp Set and is stamped in Cajun Craze. On page three I used images from the By the Tide Stamp Set and they are stamped in Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler. All of the pictures are of my friends Kim and Angie on their vacation to San Francisco.

Pretty Rose Tide Birthday

Good morning from snowy Long Island. We had about 2 inches of snow here last night, which is not a lot but still too much for me. It’s so cold that it looked like it was snowing glitter. I think it will probably be here for a little while because it’s not supposed to get warmer until Wednesday. Just another side effect of the winter!

Today I have a card for you that is a somewhat of a CASE from one that I did a few weeks ago. A friend of mine at work needed a birthday card for a girlfriend of hers. She said that she liked the fish from By the Tide because this girls husband and my friends husband fish together. I was a little unsure at first but here it is. The base of the card is Soft Suede Card Stock. The background is a piece of Pink Pirouette that is stamped with the Netting Background Stamp inked in Pink Pirouette. I stamped the coral and the poem in Rose Red on Whisper White. The coral piece I cut out with the 3 1/2″ Bigz Circle Die and the poem is backed by a piece of Rose Red and adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the fish I stamped him in Soft Suede and cut him out with my Paper Snips. The greeting is from the Wishes Your Way Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede and punched out with the Word Window Punch. I backed it with a piece of Rose Red that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. The fish and the greeting are also mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I actually like the and my friend thought it was perfect. I think it’s about as feminine as you can get with the By the Tide set! Thank you for stopping by today and I hope that you have a crafty day! 🙂
