Paper Players 145 :-) & Sneak Peek

Hello there! Thanks for stopping by to see me today, how has your weekend been. Mine has been stellar! I had off of work on Friday and I crafted for about nine hours yesterday. It rained almost all day so it was the perfect day to be creative. I plan on being crafty again today too! It’s Sunday so that means its time for this week’s Paper Players!

This week we have a color challenge from Jaydee…

Paper Players #145 Colors 5-12-2013

I have to admit that I had a little trouble with these colors at first. I decided that I would use some new goodies to jump start the creative juices. The base of the card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I cut off 1 1/2 from the front after I used the Distressed Dots Background Stamp. The panel on the right is embossed with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The paper on the left is from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. The greeting is from the Label Love Stamp Set* and is punched out with the Artisan Label Punch*. All of the large postage stamps are from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set* and the small ones are from the Lovely Little Labels Stamp Set, I let them hang over the edge for a little something different. The Postage Collection set is great because it’s a builder set, you can make the stamps the way you want. I was inspired by my friend Sandy to cut off some of the front of the card, it’s a nice change from the usual. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s color challenge from Jaydee. Thanks again for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your Sunday! 🙂

Paper Players #144 :-) & Sneak Peek

Happy Sunday! How is your weekend so far? Mine is good despite the fact that I had to work all day yesterday, I did get to rappel off of the side of a 12 story building! I thought I would be a little nervous but once you lean back over the ledge and stand there for a minute it’s all good! I had a great time and I can’t wait to do it again. Here are a few pictures, I ‘m the little dot at the top!

Paper Players 144 Theme 5-05-2013

Perfect timing for next week! The base of my card is Melon Mambo Card Stock. I used the Ovals Collection Framelits and a piece of Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper* to cut out a frame. In the center of the frame are images from the Secret Garden Stamp Set cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies. They are stamped in Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzaz. The greeting is from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set and is stamped in Night of Navy and backed with some Night of Navy that is pierced on the edges. Thanks for stopping by to see my framed flowers Mother’s Day card for this week’s Paper Players Theme Challenge from Anne Marie. Please go and visit the Paper Players blog to see what the other talented designers have for you and enter your card for a chance to be A Cut Above or Make the Headlines. Paper Players #143 :-)

Hello and happy Sunday! How is the weekend so far? Mine is great! I had a lovely day in Manhattan with my friend Kim yesterday. We had Starbucks for breakfast and then headed downtown. A stop at the Roasting Plant Coffee shop (I really drink a lot of coffee, about 6 – 8 cups a day!) and then later on some delicious Mediterranean food just like I wanted. As an added bonus I got to drive home with the top down, I didn’t even mind the traffic! I love a Saturday like that! Since today is Sunday that means it’s time for the Paper Players!

Today’s card – Paper Players #143, a sketch from Ann…

Paper Players 143 Sketch 4-28-2013

I finally got to play with some of my new goodies last night and this is what I came up with. The base of my card is Summer Starfruit. A strip of Soho Subway Designer Series Paper* is backed with some Early Espresso and goes across the middle. The flagged pieces are Early Espresso, Island Indigo and Crisp Cantaloupe*. A piece of Soft Sky* and a piece of Very Vanilla are cut out with the Window Frames Collection Framelits and the Soft Sky one is pierced around the edge. The main greeting is from the Make a Wish Stamp set, the happy birthday is from the Label Love Stamp Set* and is punched out with the Artisan Label Punch*. I’m loving the new products so far and hope you are enjoying your sneak peek. Thank you for stopping by today to see my Paper Players Guest Designer card for Sketch #143 from Ann. Head on over to the blog to see what my fellow designers have come up with and don’t forget to make one of your own creations to upload to the gallery. Have a great day!

Paper Players #142 :-)

Good day everyone. Sunday, I love you because you are part of the weekend but you also mean that the weekend is almost over. Sigh. Anyway, how is your weekend so far? Mine is pretty good. It was relatively nice here yesterday, got a haircut, had some lunch, had some 16 Handles! I also got some crafting done which always makes me happy! It’s Sunday so that means it’s Paper Players time!

Today’s post – Paper Players #142, a CAS single layer card from Jaydee…

Paper Players 142 One Layer 4-21-2013

A single layer card can be fun, but also challenging. It really is nice to just use some stamps and ink to create a card, but embellishments are fun too. There are ways to give it a little depth as I did on my card. The base of the card is Whisper White. The images are from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set. The Thanks is stamped once in Crumb Cake and again in Midnight Muse to give it a shadow effect. The Stamp-a-ma-jig makes it easy to do. The water spots are from the first Paper Pumpkin Kit and are stamped off once. CAS and only one layer! I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Players One Layer Card for this week’s challenge from Jaydee and that you are inspired to create your own. You can see what the rest of my fellow designers have for you by visiting the blog. Don’t forget to enter one of your cards in the gallery. Paper Players #141 :-)

Happy Sunday everyone! How are you all today? I’m good and I had a very nice day yesterday. The weather was nice and spring like, 54 degrees. I saw my friends Isabella and Mallory in the morning and then had some lunch and froyo with Kim. The froyo today was from a place called 16 Handles. I had salted caramel and toasted marshmallow, both were delicious! Later, my daughter Taylor and friend Maureen and I went shopping and had some Panera for dinner. A very good day indeed! Now today will be crafty Sunday!

Today’s card – Paper Players #141 – A color challenge from Anne Marie…

Paper Players #141 Color 4-14-2013

A very nice combo of colors, I don’t think I would have thought to pair Rich Razzleberry with the blues but it works quite well. The base of my card is Crumb Cake. The strip is from the World Spectacular Designer Series Paper Pack. For the greeting I used the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and stamped it in Rich Razzleberry on Baja Breeze. The leaves are created with the 1″ and 1/2″ Circle Punches. Some 5/8″ Flower Trim was inked in Rich Razzleberry but I left some of the Vanilla to show through. A fun simple card for one of the special people in your life just to say “hey!” I hope you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s Color Challenge from Anne Marie. Check out the blog to see what my other talented cohorts have for you and enter a creation of yours for us to see! Thank you for visiting and have an awesome Sunday! 🙂

Paper Players #140 :-)

Wow! Sunday already, Saturday just flew by. I did have a very nice time at the auto show in Manhattan yesterday. The highlight was seeing the RollsRoyce Wraith, isn’t that a cool name for a car?! It was gorgeous! The traffic in the city yesterday was insane, but it was a Saturday and it was a pretty nice day. What were all of you up to yesterday?

Sunday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge! This week the fabulous Nance has a theme challenge for you…

Paper Players #140 Recycle It 4-7-2013

What a fun idea to go green with some recycling on a card! I thought about it for a while and I finally settled on some jeans. The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Crumb Cake with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I always use it no tabs when I emboss with the Woodgrain Folder so it doesn’t tear the card stock. The tag is made from a piece of Summer Starfruit, the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate supplies the corners for the tag and a standard hole punch makes the hole at the top. I used a piece of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon to thread through the top of the tag. The greeting is from the Make a Wish Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse. For the flower I used the Blossom Party Bigz Die and some old jeans from the Gap. I really like the way that the inside has the contrasting “crumb cake” look. A retired Brad from last year’s Sale-A-Bration holds it together and some Multipurpose Glue holds it to the tag. Some butterflies are stamped with the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set in Midnight Muse on Very Vanilla and punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to hold them in place. I really like using natural materials on cards and the jeans are pretty neat for the flower! I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer Card for this week’s challenge. Be sure to stop by the Paper Players blog to see what my fellow designers have in store for you and I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Thank you for checking in with me today, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Another speedy weekend and back to Monday we go. I did have a very nice weekend. Saturday night I went to see my friend Andrew’s Acapella group perform and they won! After that my friend Heather and I went to John’s Pizzeria in the Theater District for a very late dinner. I will tell you that the pizza is amazing! If you are ever in Manhattan put that on your list of places you must go to eat! Yesterday I worked on the Christening invites, everything is cut and stamped I just have to assemble them. A very busy but productive weekend! I hope that you had a good weekend and some family time on Easter Sunday.

Today I have my post for this month’s SplitCoast Creative Crew Challenges. This is my last month as a guest designer with them and I have to say it has been a lot of fun. A very nice group with some really good challenges, I enjoyed every one of them. Today I have three cards for you, all very different. One modern one, a semi-vintage one and a nice manly one!

The first card is for the DSP/Color Focus. They ask: It’s almost time to say goodbye to the 2011 In Colors. This month, show us the beauty of Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade and Pool Party! To challenge yourself, focus on your least favorite of these colors. I didn’t focus on my least favorite colors because I actually like all of the 2011-2013 In-Colors and will miss the ones that are going away. I did decide to go very modern and simple with my card though. The base is Basic Gray Card Stock that I cut to 8 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ and folded. The panels are Calypso Coral and Pool Party. I stamped the images in the same colors from the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set and rounded two of each panels corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. The greeting is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and is stamped in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I flagged the right side of the piece and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the simple modern look and I have been really into leaving things off the edge of the card lately.

The second card I have for you is for the Creative Focus. They ask: This month, let’s show off our new paper piercing tools! Located on Page 181 of the Main Catalog and on Page 27 & 36 of the Spring Catalog, these can add a great accent to any project! Challenge yourself to add piercing to your card in a new way. If you don’t have the paper piercing tool, use a pushpin! Now we all know that I love a little paper-piercing! I wanted to try it on vellum and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. The base of the card is Naturals White Card Stock. I stamped the greeting from the One in a Million Stamp Set in Early Espresso. The layers in the middle start with a Tea Lace Paper Doily. Next up I took a piece of Tea for Two Designer Series Paper and a piece of Vellum Card Stock and held them together while I used the 1/2 Circle Punch to create the ticket corners on them. I then used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and my Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce around the piece of vellum. Some SNAIL holds the vellum to the DSP. A piece of Bashful Blue is flagged on either end and pierced across the top and bottom edges. The butterfly is form the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and is cut from Calypso Coral. I embossed it using the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, adhered it to the flagged piece with SNAIL and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A pice of Lucky Limeade is punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and is used to back the 5/8″ Flower Trim that is adhered with Mini Glue Dots. The little butterfly on the bottom is a piece of Calypso Coral that I cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. I’m so happy with the piercing on the vellum. It’s so nice and crisp!

My final card is for the Holiday Focus. For this one they ask: Holiday focus: Let’s make cards for the men in our lives! I need these often, and I don’t make them enough. Challenge yourself by using a non-masculine set to make your masculine card or by trying a new technique. I knew exactly what set I wanted to use but I mixed it with a set that I don’t normally think of for masculine cards. The card starts off with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock. I used the Chevron Textured impressions Embossing Folder with some Pool Party Core’dinations Card Stock, I distressed it with that Stampin’ Distress Tool, then adhered it to the card base with SNAIL. The two flagged pieces are adhesive cork shelf liner that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. The circle and #%&@! are from the Dude, You’re Welcome Kit. The circle is stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. The #%&@! is stamped in Early Espresso and cut out with my Paper Snips. Both are adhered to each other and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Happy and Birthday are from the Memorable Moments Stamp Set, are stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. They too are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I guess it doesn’t get more masculine than a fill in the blank swear word in the middle of the card!

Paper Players #139 :-)

Hey there! Happy Easter! How is your weekend so far? Mine is pretty good. I got a lot of my projects done yesterday and I will finish them up today. It was beautiful here yesterday, 60 degrees and sunny. I went for a little ride in the car with the top down. It felt so nice to feel the sun and the breeze. It’s supposed to be nice here this morning but get overcast later. Any egg hunts should be completed in the first half of the day! I’ll be having some dinner with my family later, good times.

Today being Sunday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week we have a Tic-Tac-Toe from Jaydee…

Paper Players #139 Tic-Tac-Toe 3-31-2013

I did the the diagonal from top left to bottom right, although I hit a few of the other boxes too. At least I didn’t try to do them all like the last time! LOL! I did do something a little different with my card today too. For the first time I made a hybrid card using the This and That Epic Day Digital Kit. I downloaded it from Stampin’ Up! and created a project in My Digital Studio. I just laid out some of the embellishments on an 8 1/2″ x 11″ page and shared the project as a JPEG. I opened it in Preview on my Mac and I printed it out. My Paper Trimmer and Paper Snips took care of the rest. The base of the card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock. The background, tickets, chevrons and tag are all form the This and That Epic Day Digital Kit. The tickets and chevrons are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I backed the note tag with a piece of Basic Gray, rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder, and punched a hole in the top where I threaded some Linen Thread. Some Gumball Green and the Little Leaves Sizzlit supply the greenery. I created the flowers using the new A Round Array Stamp Set form the 2013-2014 Catalog. They are stamped in Primrose Petals and punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Basic Jewels Pearls finish off the card. I love the This and That Epic Day goodies. I’ll get my actual products tomorrow but I had so much fun making the card with the print outs I will definitely do it again! I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge from Jaydee. Stop by the blog to see what my fellow designers have for you and add your card to the gallery! Thank you for checking in with me today. Once again, Happy Easter!

Paper Players #138 :-)

And there goes Saturday, fast as always! I hope that you had a fun day yesterday, I did. I crafted in the morning and went out and did a little shopping. I met my friend Maureen for lunch, we had Panera, definitely one of my favorites. I love their Chopped Chicken Cobb with Avocado Salad and their Acia Berry Iced Tea. I got my friend Kim from the airport after her week in paradise as she called it! All in all a very good day!

Since today is Sunday that means it’s time for another Paper Players Challenge. First, congratulations to Natalie for being my choice for Cut Above on last week’s challenge! This week the amazing Anne Marie has given us this clever sketch…

Paper Players #138 Sketch 3-24-2013

I’m liking it a lot! I knew what I was going to use, it just took a little selective weeding to get my card just right. The base of my card is Riding Hood Red Card Stock. I used one of the stamps from the Paper Pumpkin Kit to stamp the random ink drops for the background in Basic Gray. The tag in the middle, stamp and ruler are all from the Fan Fair Designer Series Paper Pack. There are some really great images on the sheets that you can cut out or punch out. The ruler along the right side is backed with a piece of Basic Gray that I punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. The stamp is punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch and backed with a piece of Riding Hood Red that I punched out with the 1 1/4″ Square Punch. The tag and the stamp are adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The tag is also backed with a piece of Very Vanilla to give it a little extra strength and the corners are rounded with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. I stamped some images from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set in Riding Hood Red and Basic Gray and punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. A standard office paper clip holds them to the tag. The greeting is from the Family Reunion Stamp Set. I stamped it in Riding Hood Red and cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. After I cut off the left side I adhered it to the card with SNAIL. I forgot how much I like the Riding Hood Red paired with the Basic Gray and how neat the Fan Fair DSP is. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Sketch Challenge brought to you by Anne Marie. Paper Players 136 :-)

A very good Sunday morning to you all! Did you forget to spring forward? If it has the word spring in it I will definitely remember! We loose an hour but it’s a for a good cause, warmer weather is on the way. It was actually pretty nice here yesterday. Most of the snow is gone and I think it got up to around 50 degrees. It was so nice that I did drive around with top down on the car, just for a little while. 🙂

Sunday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. As always, before I get to this week I want to congratulate Stacey for being my choice for Cut Above for last weeks In Stitches challenge. You can see the winners list here. This week we have a color challenge for the wonderful Nance…

Paper Players #136 Color 3-10-2013

I was a little worried when I first saw this combination but after playing for a bit I love it! The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I used some White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and my heat tool to emboss the greeting from the Vintage Verses Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration right on the base. Directly above that is a piece of paper from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Pack. Next, I adhered a Tea Lace Paper Doily with some SNAIL. The tag is created with my Simply Scored and some Pool Party. I used the Little Leaves Sizzlit to cut out two piece of Lucky Limeade. The rolled paper roses are made using the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and some Regal Rose. A little inward circular cutting with my Paper Snips and some hot glue and they are ready to be adhered to the card with Mini Glue Dots. The butterflies are from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set. I stamped them in Regal Rose and used the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly Punches to punch them out. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere both them and the tag to the card. I have been wanting to make some rolled paper roses for a while, I don’t know why I put it off for so long, they were super easy to make. I hpoe that you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s color challenge from Nance. Thank for checking in with me today and I hope that you enjoy your Sunday!
