Paper Players #90

A good monday morning to you all. I hope that everyone had a nice Easter. Mine was great. I got to spend time with my daughter, brother and his fiancé. We have an idea for the wedding invitations and I am going to put something together this week. I also got to craft a lot this weekend which makes me very happy! Today’s post is for this weeks Paper Players Challenge. This week they have given us a color challenge using Not Quite Navy, Pool Party and Certainly Celery…

I decided to use a one of my more recently acquired sets the Elements of Style. I started with a base of Pool Party cut so that it opens from the bottom. I added a piece of Certainly Celery on top of that. I stamped the large image from the Elements of Style Stamp Set in Not Quite Navy on Very Vanilla and placed that on top. Using my Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit I cut out some butterflies in Pool Party and Certainly Celery and used Stampin’ Dimensionals cut up to adhere them randomly over the stamped image. The greeting is also stamped in Not Quite Navy and punched out with the Large Oval Punch and backed with a piece of Not Quite Navy Card Stock punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch. I love the colors and the simplicity of the card and hope that you enjoy it too. Thank you, as always, for dropping in. Have a great day!

Paper Players #89

Good morning and happy Hump Day to you all. I am missing the warmer weather here on Long Island and can’t wait for it to return. Today’s card is for the Paper Players Challenge # 89. They have asked us to make a funny card…

I have to admit that I was a little stumped as to what to do. I have never been a fan of funny cards, I like the pretty mushy ones the best. I thought about what card to make for a long time, and then it dawned on me, so many people joke about getting married as being the end of your life so why not send a sympathy card! The base of the card is Early Espresso, it is cut to 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 2 1/4 and 5 1/2 with another piece cut to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 for the front making it an easel card (thanks Sandy!). The background is made using the Big Shot and the Texturz Plates Backgrounds 1 Embossing Plates with Very Vanilla Card Stock. The greeting is from Petite Pairs and is stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the 1 1/4″ Square Punch and then mounted to a piece of Calypso Coral at 1 1/2″ and then to a piece of Early Espresso cut to 1 3/4″. The cake if from the Loving Thoughts Stamp Set (Occasions Mini) and so is the greeting on the bottom. The cake was cut out with my Paper Snips. I used some of the 1/8″ Organdy Ribbon from Sale-A-Bration to decorate the cake. The Petals-A-Plenty Textured Impressions Embossing Folder provides the backdrop and that was then mounted to a piece of Early Espresso. I used the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack for the flowers and put some Basic Jewels Pearls on them. The lower greeting is punched out with the Word Window Punch and placed on a piece of Calypso Coral punched out with the Large Oval Punch and then a piece of Early Espresso punced out with the Extra Large Oval Punch and then placed on a piece of Calypso Coral and adhered to the card with Stampin Dimensionals to keep the easel part of the card standing up. Two more pieces of 1/8″ Organdy Ribbon, one across the top and one across the bottom complete the card. I hope that you enjoyed it and found it to be little funny, my married friends did! Thanks for dropping by and have a great day!

Paper Players #88

A good Monday morning to you. I hope that you all had a nice weekend. As I mentioned yesterday, I went to see Rent and it was great! Thanks to My friend Kim, my daughter and I had a great afternoon! For this weeks Paper Players Challenge Ann has provided this sketch…

I always like to work with a sketch because it makes most of the work, the card layout, so much easier because it’s done for you. As soon as I saw this I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I used one of my favorite sets, French Foliage. The base of the card is Early Espresso and I used a piece of Well Worn Designer Series Paper for the background. I placed three 3/16″ Metallic Brads in the lower left corner, two in the brownish color and one in the aged silver color just to be a little different. I then stamped a piece of Very Vanilla with the En Français Background Wood Mount Stamp in Early Espresso Ink. I punched a piece of Cajun Craze with the Scallop Edge Border Punch and placed it underneath. The piece of ribbon across the front is Early Espresso 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon. After all of that was assembled I adhered it to the card with some Sticky Strip (I like to make sure that it’s not going anywhere!). The stamped images are from the French Foliage Stamp Set and are stamped in Cajun Craze and River Rock and I backed it with some Early Espresso. The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch and half of it is hidden behind the stamped images. I love the card and think I want some more Well Worn DSP! Thank you, as always, for stopping by! Have a great day!

Paper Players #87

Good morning and welcome to Monday, brought to you today by the Paper Players Challenge #87…

This week featuring… buttons! I have quite a few buttons but I always for get to use them, thankfully this weeks challenge reminded me! I used three different stamp sets that all coordinate quite well together. The base of the card is Baja Breeze and to that I added a background of Soft Suede that I ran through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used the Young Vermillion Wood Mount Stamp for the focal image of the card stamped in Soft Suede. The detail in the image is amazing, it’s definitely a favorite of mine. The strip along the bottom, also stamped in Soft Suede, is from the Fresh Vintage Stamp Set (Sale-A-Bration) and it also coordinates with the Tea Shoppe Set (Occasions Mini). I choose the greeting from the Happiest Birthday Wishes (Host(ess)) Stamp Set and they are backed with Baja Breeze. All of the stamped images are adhered to the card with Stampin Dimensionals. For the perfect finishing touch I added three buttons in Baja Blue from the Twitterpated Designer Buttons (Occasions Mini) and adhered them with Mini Glue Dots. I love the color combination and want to thank the Paper Players for reminding me to use my buttons. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Paper Players #86

Good morning and welcome to Wednesday, we are halfway there people! For this weeks Paper Players they give us a color challenge…

And what a great combination of colors it is. I love Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder and Crumb Cake. I will miss Pear Pizzaz when it retires in a few months too. I also did something that I never usually do, my card today has a very vintage feel to it. I sponged everything in Crumb Cake. The base of the card is Pool Party. I took some Wisteria Wonder and ran it through the Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper Texture Impressions Embossing Folder. The sponging on it really makes the design shine through. I rounded the corners with the 1″ Circle Punch on the card and background. The stamp is from the set Up In the Air (Host(ess)) from the Occasions Mini Catalog and is stamped in Black Staz-on Ink. I colored in the flowers with my Stampin’ Write Markers using Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzaz. I then stamped the birdhouse again on crumb cake and popped it up on a Stampin’ Dimensional. The backing for the image is Crumb Cake and I flagged the ends with the 1 3/8″ Square Punch and rounded the other side with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. The strip across the middle is Pear Pizzaz with a piece of Crumb Cake 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon across it. I mounted the image with some more Stampin’ Dimensionals and there you have it, Paper Player Challenge #86. Thank you, as always, for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Paper Players #85

Good Monday morning to everyone. I hope that you had a nice weekend. Mine was good, just not long enough! I haven’t quite figured out how to make it longer but I’m working on it! Today’s post is for this weeks Paper Players. They asked you to make a Spring themed card…

I decided nothing says spring like a big flower. I also decided to keep my color palate to just two, Very Vanilla and Poppy Parade. The base of the card is Poppy Parade. I ran a piece of Very Vanilla through the Big Shot using the Texturz Plates Backgounds 1 Embossing Plates. I attached a piece of Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper to the bottom and used a piece of Very Vanilla 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon to hid the seam. The flower is made using the Build A Blossom Stamp Set and the Blossom Petals Builder Punch. I stamped Poppy Parade Card Stock with Poppy Parade Ink and punched each of the petals out. I used some glue dots to adhere them to 1″ circle underneath. There are two layers and in the middle I stamped Poppy Parade Ink on Very Vanilla and put some Basic Jewels Pearls on it. The greeting is from the Tagtastc (Host(ess)) Stamp Set and is punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch and mounted on Poppy Parade punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch and put on some Stampin’ Dimensionals. I would say that the card has a very spring feel with the vibrant large red flower. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Paper Players #84

A good Monday morning to you all. I hope that you had a nice weekend and that the work week goes quickly! For this weeks Paper Players Challenge they give us the following sketch…

I like the sketch because it’s quite different form any that I remember doing recently. I went with a recently acquired color, Tangerine Tango for this weeks card. The base of the card is Very Vanilla and to that I added some Brights Stack Designer Series Paper in Tangerine Tango. The layered rectangle is Crumb Cake, Tangerine Tango and Very Vanilla which I ran through my Big Shot in the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to coordinate with the DSP. The images are form the Tiny Tags Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangerine Tango. I used the Small Oval Punch to punch them out and adhered them to some circles that were punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. They were then adhered to the polkadots background with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from Elementary Elegance (Sale-A-Bration) and was punched out with the Large Oval Punch and then mounted on a piece of Crumb Cake that was punched out with the Modern Label Punch and also placed on Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Border Punch is a great substitute for fabric ribbon and completes the card. Thanks for stopping by and and please feel free to leave a comment. Have a great day!

Paper Players #83

Happy humpday… err… Wednesday! We’re halfway there! For this weeks Paper Players Challenge they ask that you create a masculine card with clean and simple lines…

I decided to use one of my favorite masculine sets, The Open Sea. The set is still available as a write in (123030-Wood Mount, 123032-Clear Mount) and is great for masculine or travel themed cards or scrapbook pages. I stamped the map and the ships log images in Night of Navy Ink on Whisper White Card Stock. Using my Circle Scissor Plus, I cut out the map and then used the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch to punch out a piece of Crumb Cake for the backing. The log was backed with Crumb Cake and adhered to the background. I used the Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates and my Big Shot with Night of Navy for that. I stamped the greeting from the Family Reunion Stamp Set and mounted that and the map on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I decided to skip any ribbon or other embellishments and keep it really clean. I love the colors and the images, with a quick greeting change it would work for Father’s Day too. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Paper Players Design Team Call

A good Tuesday morning to everyone. Today’s post is a very important one. The Paper Players are holding an open Design Team Call and I would love to be part of the team. My name is Justin Krieger and I have been paper crafting in some form since I was about 10 years old. Back then I used to make car dashboards out of oaktag. Thankfully, my medium has evolved into stamps and card stock with my card making and 3D projects. The card making seriously kicked into gear a little over a year ago and in August of last year I was introduced to Stampin’ Up! by a wonderful friend of mine, Sandy. I signed up to be a Demonstrator and have loved every minute of it. My favorite part has to be playing along each week with the challenges. It broadens my creativity and widens my horizons. I love seeing all of the other samples and entries each week and finally seeing who is chosen as the picks of the week. I write down my choices and compare notes, and get ready to do it all again. Below are my three projects for your consideration. I hope that you enjoy them and thanks for taking the time to look! Any comments are always appreciated and as always thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

The first 3D window shadow box card, Happy Valentine’s Day!

My Grandmother’s 93rd Birthday Card, one of my favorites!

An engagement card that goes with the frame/box below…

I scanned in the picture from when he actually proposed in Rockefeller Center!

The frame open so the card and “gift” can go inside.

Paper Players #82

Good morning all. I hope that you are enjoying your week, only two days left until the weekend! For this weeks Paper Players Challenge they ask you to use Poppy Parade, Pool Party, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla…

I love the color combination plus I get to use some more of my favorite Designer Series Paper, Everyday Enchantment! The base of the card is Soft Suede. I used the Labels Collection Framelits Dies to cut out a piece of the Everyday Enchantment DSP (Sale-A-Bration) and used the negative piece. As I have said before the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set and the Blossom Punch are two of my favorite products from the Occasions Mini. I stamped a flower in Poppy Parade on Very Vanilla and again in Pool Party on Pool Party Card Stock. The 1″ Circle Punch is perfect for the flower middle in Pool Party. A brad from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon and Brad Pack holds them together and I adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. The greeting is from Elementary Elegance (Sale-A-Bration) and is stamped in Poppy Parade and punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. It’s also adhered with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. A small strip of the DSP at the top and bottom completes the card. Thanks so much for stopping by and your comments are always appreciated!
