Paper Players 167

Well, that was a pretty nice and busy weekend! I had dinner Friday night, the party on Saturday and then a nice ride into Manhattan to drop off an order and have some dinner. We went to Momofuku downtown. It’s a noodle bar and I do love some ramen noodles. They also have really good pork buns, made extra tasty with some hot sauce. I also had a very good beer that was called Baba and it is brewed in none other than Salt Lake City, UT! I think I will be adding and extra day to the gym schedule this week!

It’s Monday, the bad part… back to work, the good part… it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have a great color combo from Jaydee…

Paper Players #167

Love me some blue!! I went with a simple classic card. The base of the card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. I created a large flag with a piece of the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack and adhered that to the card front as a sort of small background. The image is from the Everyday Occasions Kit and is stamped in Midnight Muse and cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits. I also used the Framelits to cut out a piece of Pool Party to put behind the greeting and I adhered them all to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Pool Party Bakers Twine wrapped around the top and tied in a bow along with a few Basic Jewels Rhinestones completes the card. The color combination is definitely one of my favorites and the stamps in the Everyday Occasions kit are great! Thank you for stopping by to see my Paper Players challenge card for this week’s sketch from Jaydee. Have a great day! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 174

I’m off to Manhattan for a bit today but I will be doing some serious crafting later. Nothing out of the ordinary but today is a special day because it’s World Card Making Day! Will you be making some cards today? If you do then you need to participate because Stampin’ Up! has a special contest to help celebrate. Here are all of the details:

There are two ways to enter:

  • E-mail a photo of a card, or of you making a card, made with Stampin’ Up! product on World Cardmaking Day to [email protected].
  • Post a photo of a card, or of you making a card, made with Stampin’ Up! product on World Cardmaking Day on Instagram. Mention us by typing @stampinup and use the hashtag #wcmd2013 in the description.

This contest is open to everyone-demonstrators, customers, friends, spouses, children . . . you get the idea. However, there are a few conditions:

  • You must be over the age of 18 to win a prize.
  • You can enter as many times as you wish, but each entry must feature a different card.
  • Contest will last all day on October 5, from 12:01 AM to 12:00 PM.
  • We will randomly select 100 winners from our North American markets to receive a Paper Pumpkin Kit (valued at $19.95 US/ $20.95 CA)*, and we will select 50 winners from our South Pacific and European markets to receive the Naughty and Nice Rotary Stamp and Season of Style Designer Washi Tape.

A selection of pictures will be posted to Stampin’ Up!’s World Cardmaking Day Pinterest Board and the winners announced in a later current update.

That’s pretty neat huh?! I’ll also post my mum’s Birthday card tomorrow for you to see and some other cards for you in addition to my regular post! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! released a new product yesterday called Pop & Place Gift Tags & Stamps. It’s a kit that comes with over 70 pre-cut tags and a Photopolymer Stamp Set. The best part is that the tags match a lot of our punches and dies. You can get just the tags, just the stamps, both the tags and the stamps or you can get a starter kit with the stamps, tags, a Soft Suede Stampin’ Spot and a Clear Block C. You can see all of the pricing on the flyer below and if you would like a PDF you can click here to get one. I think it’s a really neat idea and would also make a great gift for someone!

I love the stamps! Shocker! LOL! Now for today’s post I have my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s color challenge…

PPA 174

Remember when I said that yesterday it was very unusual for me to use a color challenge for the obvious card? Well, I went in the complete opposite direction today! The base of today’s card is Baked Brown Sugar that I cut out with my Circle Card Thinlits Die. I left the right side over the top to make the extended piece, I like to do that because it gives you a little more space to write. The middle of the front circle is a piece of Pumpkin Pie that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits, I also used them to cut out the ring around the circle. Some Pear Pizzaz cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit Die goes on top of the circle and also on either side at the bottom. One of the stamps from the Christmas Collectibles Stamp Set is stamped in Pumpkin Pie and punched out with the Christmas Ornament Punch. In the middle is one of the In Color Boutique Details in Baked Brown Sugar. On the inside of the circle is a piece of Pear Pizzaz punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the greeting is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set and is cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies. My favorite part of the card is the way that the ring circles the outside and then the inside. Also, when I think of Christmas I don’t necessarily think of red and green, decorations are all kinds of colors. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thank you for stopping by to see my card and my little tangent above! I wish you the best Saturday ever!

Freshly Made Sketches 105

Oh yeah!! It’s Friday!! I can’t complain, the week did move right along. The network issues are finally worked out at the office and I managed to catch up a bit today. I know I have said it almost every day but the weather here is just amazing this week. I would like to take this week’s weather and repeat it all year long. I will be off to Manhattan one day this weekend, not sure which one just yet. What are you up to?

My card for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. This week’s sketch is supplied by Allisa…

Freshly Made Sketches #105

I wanted to do another bokeh style card and I thought that it would make a neat background for my favorite butterfly. Bokeh refers to a term in photography for the aesthetic quality of the blur. The large soft edged and shaded dots of the circles lend themselves to this effect. The base of the card is Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock. I took a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the circles, which are done with a piece  that I saved from the Daydream Medallions Stamp Set, in Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding. The stamped panel is then equally cut into 4 pieces and adhered to the base. The butterfly is from the Best of Butterflies Stamp Set and is my favorite butterfly image that we have. I stamped it in Early Espresso and used some eyeshadow sponges to shade it. A little Paper Snip action and it’s cut out! The greeting is from the Thanks & Hello Wood Mount Stamp Set and is also stamped in Early Espresso onto Pistachio Pudding that is backed with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the way the font in the greeting compliments the circles and I think the butterfly looks great shaded in. Thanks very much for taking time to come by and see my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I hope you all have a wonderful Friday! 🙂

Chevron Christmas

A merry Sunday to you! I had a nice day yesterday, I got some projects finished in the morning and had a great time at the block party. I got to see lots of friends and play with the kiddies. It was  a pretty nice day, overcast and it only sprinkled just for a little bit. Today there is a chance of some rain but so far it’s not bad. I will get some more projects done and play a little too. What are you all up to?

For today’s post I have a simple Christmas card for you. It’s for the Chevron Challenge over at Catherine & Cathy Create. The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake. I stamped the greeting from the Joy to the World Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler right on the background. The Merry is cut from Cherry Cobbler using the Expressions Thinlits Dies and adhered to the base using some 2-Way Glue. I punched out Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake with the Chevron Border Punch and adhered them to a strip of Crumb Cake. Some Stampin’ DImensionals adhere them to the card. I really like the simplicity and the the way that the Expressions Thinlit goes with the greeting. Thank you for stopping by to see my simple Merry Sunday card. Be sure to stop by the Catherine & Cathy Create blog to see the other projects! Have a very nice day Everyone!

Just Add Ink 180

Ahh… the first day into the three day weekend! So, did I get out of work early yesterday you might be wondering? Well, I did get to leave at 4:00 but I had to go back at 5:00 so that really doesn’t count does it?! Not good! But I did have a very nice dinner with my friend Anthony and my Fred stopped by for a bit too. I also got to see my friends Brian and Kim and the kiddies in between work. Today I’m off to a block party to see more friends, that should be a lot of fun!

I do want to mention that Shelli Gardner the CEO of Stampin’ Up! fell off of her horse yesterday and hurt herself pretty badly. Keep her in your thoughts and wish her a speedy recovery along with me please. Without her I wouldn’t be able to be as creative as I am.

On to the business at hand, today’s card which is for this week’s Just Add Ink. The lovely and talented ladies choose my card for their Top Pick last week! You can see the original post here and their winners post here. This week we have a challenge to use markers, aqua painters, crayons, chalks etc. for some coloring. I choose to use some sponge daubers and went with an ombre style look.

The base of my card is a piece of Vellum Card Stock. The card front is made from a piece of Very Vanilla. I used the Bitty Butterfly Punch to punch out a piece of Window Sheet and a piece of Printer Paper. I used the punched Window Sheet as a stencil to sponge the butterflies with Soft Sky, Pool Party, Costal Cabana and Bermuda Bay ink. I then used the punched piece of Printer Paper as a mask to stamp all of the butterflies with the same ink colors. The stamp is the script from the Notable Notions Stamp Set. I stamped the greeting from the A Dozen Thoughts in the same ink colors too. The large butterfly is another piece of vellum and is cut out with the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and embossed with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Folder. Three Basic Jewels Pearls complete the card. I love the stencil and masked butterflies and the ombre effect. Thank you for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge. Have a very nice Saturday peeps!

Pals Paper Arts 169

So remember yesterday when I said that I had no plans for this weekend? That all changed rather quickly! I’m going to have some breakfast with my friend Joe this morning and then I’m off to Manhattan with my work buddy Lisa to meet my city buddy Kim. We are going to see Elysium and have some dinner at Vapiano! I will have a full review for you tomorrow! LOL! What are you all up to this weekend? The weather is supposed to lovely here so that is always a good reason to get out and do something. My craft therapy will have to wait for tomorrow! 🙂

Today’s post contains my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts. We have a sketch challenge from the lovely Pixel Maven Nicole Watt…

PPA 169

The other day I had a little delivery from my friend the UPS man and the stamp I used on today’s card was in that cache! The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Smokey Slate with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The horizontal panel is a piece of paper from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack that is backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The large greeting is the new Be Merry Single Stamp. I inked it in Bermuda Bay and cut it out with my Paper Snips. The little holly berries looked a little dull so I got my Owl Builder Punch and punched out some Cherry Cobbler for them, they were much happier after that! I also used the punch for the piece of Smokey Slate that holds the Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon to the piece of Cherry Cobbler that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. 3 Basic Jewels Rhinestones and one of the gorgeous Frosted Finishes Designer Embellishments finish the card. I really love the Be Merry Stamp and I did cover up the To/From with the banner to make it a little less gift tag looking. Thank you for popping by to see my Pals Paper Arts Card for this week’s sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed the card and that you will be back tomorrow for my reviews! LOL! Enjoy your day! 🙂

Paper Players #147 :-) & Sneak Peek

Good Sunday to you! How is your weekend going so far? Mine is pretty good despite the rainy and cold weather we had yesterday. I did spend most of the day crafting, I have a lot of projects to do and I would like to get a little bit ahead. I did make some progress so I’ll continue on today. What is going on on by you?

It’s Sunday and that means it’s time to play with the Paper Players! This week we have a sketch from the talented LeAnne…

Paper Players #147 Sketch 5-26-2013

A very different sketch from any that I have seen recently so this was fun! The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. The paper rectangles are all from the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper Pack*. They have some great distressed and fun patterns in there. The greeting is form the Best of Birthdays Stamp Set and is stamped in Summer Starfruit and Early Espresso. I cut out the Birthday and popped it up on some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the other one that is punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. They are backed with a piece of Island Indigo that I cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies. Not an overly complicated card but the DSP really gives it some oomph! Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Guest Designer card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from LeAnne. Be sure to visit the Paper Players blog and see what my fellow creative team mates have come up with and enter yours in the gallery to play along. I hope that you have some crafty time and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Mojo 294

I’m a little happier than usual today and we all know why… it’s Friday! Three day weekend Friday! I have a serious amount of crafting to get done this weekend and it’s just as well seeing as it’s supposed to rain through to Sunday. What are you all up to this weekend? I had dinner in Manhattan last night and it worked out great. It didn’t rain until we got to the restaurant and it had stopped by the time we left. We also stopped in Brooklyn to see my friend Brian on the way home. All in all, a great evening!

Today’s post – Mojo Monday 294, a sketch from Julee Tilman…

Some Photopolymer and Paper Pumpkin helped out with this card. The base of the card is Basic Gray Card Stock and the paper is from the Epic Day this & That Designer Series Paper Pack. I used the Large Scallop Edgelit for the piece of Calypso Coral along the bottom and across the top is some Pool Party 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon. The greeting and the dots are from the Paper Pumpkin Stamp Sets and the Thank You is from the Essentials Stamp Set. For the three arrows and the flag I used the Show & Tell 1 & 2 Photopolymer Stamp Sets. The flag is in a Soda Pop Top, boy am I going to miss them! I think the Photopolymer sets make great additions to any card and the Paper Pumpkin stamps are great for so much too. Thank you for stopping by to see my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card and have a great day! 🙂

Create with Connie and Mary 252

Yeah! It’s Friday! My favorite day of the week, work will done soon and it will be the weekend! So, last night I went to see Star Trek: Into the Darkness in IMAX 3D and it was amazing! I loved it. It was action packed, funny and sad. Not things that you would necessarily expect from a Star Trek movie. I may even go and see it again! The weather here today was a little muggy in the morning but then it turned into a nice sunny day. This weekend I will be heading out to the Hampton’s with my friend Chantal so that should be fun.

Today’s post – Create with Connie and Mary 252, colors…

CCMC 252

Some nice soft colors and I kept my card nice and clean too. The base of the card is Soft Suede Card Stock. I used a piece of the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper and the Artisan Label Punch* to punch out a piece from the middle. I stamped one of the stamps from Label Love in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla and adhered it to the base. The DSP is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two pieces of Sahara Sand are flagged and adhered to either side of the label. The butterfly is from the Best of 25 Butterflies Stamp Set and the greeting is from the A Round Array Stamp Set. I really enjoyed the color combination and the negative punch is fun too! I Thanks for visiting me today to see my Create with Connie and Mary card for this week’s color challenge. Woo hoo! The color renovation has been announced! I’m so happy that they have kept four of the five 2011-2013 In-Colors! I’m a little sad to see that Lucky Limeade didn’t make the cut but we also got some former In-Colors back too! Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzaz and Blushing Bride along with a new color Smokey Shadow. They have also moved some colors to different families and of course they are retiring some colors. Say so long to Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Bravo Burgundy, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard and River Rock. Change is a good thing!

Stampin’ Up! has released their first Photopolymer Stamp Set! It’s called Designer Typeset! The great thing about Photopolymer Stamps is that they are completely clear so you can see exactly where you are going to stamp. They work amazingly with our new Firm Foam Stampin’ Pads for great ink coverage. You are going to love them! This is a limited release so make sure you get one before it’s gone!

Mojo 293 & Sneak Peek

Why are Monday’s always so difficult?! Let me tell you that a three day weekend makes them even harder! Oh, and it felt like fall here again today. What is up with that?! Yoo hoo… Mother Nature, we are supposed to be getting warmer now thanks! I saw that someone said they had snow yesterday! Yikes!

Today’s post – Mojo Monday, a sketch from Julee Tilman…

Mojo293

I have to say that so far out of all of the new stuff I’m thinking that the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper* is my favorite! It has some great colors and I love the vintage graphic feel to it. The base of my card is Island Indigo Card Stock and the background is Very Vanilla stamped with the Woodgrain Background Stamp in Early Espresso. I used the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on some Early Espresso on top of that. The piece of Summer Starfruit and the Island Indigo Circle are pierced with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and the flags are made using the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. The circle of Designer Series Paper is Soho Subway* and the greeting is from the Label Love Stamp Set* and is punched out with the Artisan Punch*. I made my “bow” with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and the 1/2″ Circle Punch. With a Soda Pop Top in the middle and the No. 1 from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set* it completes the card. I managed to use the Postage Collection Stamp Set again and I’m a little bummed that the Soda Pop Tops didn’t carry over. What are you going to miss? Thank you very much for coming by to see my Mojo Monday Sketch card for this week’s challenge. Have a super day! 🙂
