SUO Challenges 99

That was a pretty good Monday as far as Monday’s go! Work was ok, I got stuff done and wasn’t crazy busy. I went over to Kim’s after work and got to see the munchkins! Those two little girls are just the cutest! We had Tacos and wine and my friend Dave was there too. I haven’t seen him in a while so it was nice to catch up. My friend Danielle came back to work yesterday too! I was so glad to have her back! She is so sweet, I collect the Starbucks You are Here mugs and she remembered and brought me one back! What a nice surprise! Thoughtful friends are awesome aren’t they?! She is also going to help me paint the new apartment on Wednesday which goes above and beyond. I don’t know why but I hate painting! It will be fun with Danielle so I may not mind it as much! 🙂

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Summer challenge. All we ask is for something Summer related, ocean, beach or patriotic. I saw this card in the catalog when I first looked through it. I love the card so I had to CASE it! The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock and I used a Stampin’ Spritzer with some Pear Pizzaz Re-Inker to spritz it. The main panel is a piece of Watercolor Paper. I spritzed it with some more Pear Pizzaz and Chocolate Chip Re-Inker before stamping my images. All of the images are from the By the Tide Stamp Set. I stamped the coral twice in Crushed Curry, the script and the seal are stamped in Pear Pizzaz. I then went over it with my Aqua Painter to give it the washed out look. The seahorse is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with my Paper Snips. My greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. Across the card is a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that I altered a little and adhered with some Fast Fuse Adhesive. The strips of Island Indigo and Pear Pizzaz are crumpled and adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. The stampin Distress Tool is used around the edges for that worn look. Finally, I wrapped some Linen Thread around the panel and tied a Basic Metal Button in it. I think I liked the card so much because its a little messy and I never use my Stampin’ Distress Tool so it was a good excuse to try it out! I like to step outside my comfort zone, the crumpling of the paper was new for me too! LOL! That said I hope that you enjoyed my take on the card from the catalog for the SUO Challenges Summer Themed challenge. Stop by the blog to see the other deign team’s projects. I really do appreciate you coming by too see me and I hope that you enjoy your day! 🙂

WOW! What can I say! You are all AMAZING! The wonderful, kind, sweet comments that you all left yesterday made that the best Monday EVER!! I really could not hope to know a better bunch of people! You really did make my day! People at work kept asking my why I was smiling all day! I said because there are some really awesome people out there! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

So yes, my day was wonderful, despite my jobs attempts to thwart it! Work was very busy like it always is. I went to my parents for dinner and then ran to BestBuy to get mom a new iPad Air. She has the first generation one and it was well past it’s prime. I set it up and came home and crafted for a bit, the perfect end to a perfect Monday! Did you all place your orders? I did! 🙂

As for the blog candy, I will choose the winner on Friday! Thanks to all 55 of you that left comments! And yes, I replied to every one! 🙂

Oh, before I forget, here is the Holiday Carry-Over list. There are some really good ones on there, I was very happy to see that both snowflake sets and the Framelits made it! Click here to download a PDF of it so you have it handy!

One last thing, if you scroll down past the products at the ned of the post you can see the Hello Kitty card that I made for my boss to give to her niece.

Now on to today’s post which is my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges blog. This time we ask you to Stamp in the Background. That could be a background stamp or a pattern that you create with stamps. I’m sure you knew that though!

I chose to use the Work of Art Stamp Set. The card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped a rainbow with the Work of Art Stamp Set using Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point and Rich Razzleberry. I backed it with a piece of Gumball Green and adhered it to the base. The greeting is from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set and is stamped in Gumball Green and cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it in place and that’s my card! Very simple but nice and bright and colorful! This card would cheer up anyone’s day, don’t you think?! It would also be a good card to make a bunch of and have on hand! And that’s my SUO Challenges card for our Stamping in the Background challenge. Take a little click over to the blog and see what the rest of the Design Team has done and let’s see what you can do, upload your project to the gallery! Thank you so very much for coming by today. I hope you enjoyed the cards and that you have a wonderful Tuesday! 🙂

Hey there! Long time no see! LOL! Did you enjoy the Control Freaks Blog Tour?! Lots of new Catalog goodies! Yes, it’s kind of my second post for yesterday/today. I told you that I had a lot of projects to make over the weekend. And because of all of you I can’t think of anything else that I would rather be doing! Your visits and comments make it all worth it! Let’s see… yesterday work was good, I was a little busy when I got home with more crafty stuff. It did rain here a little last night but just a little. The weather has been absolutely perfect otherwise. I think that Spring is my new favorite season!

It’s Tuesday so here are this week’s specials from Stampin’ Up!

Every other Tuesday I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog with the rest of the talented Design Team for our bi-weekly challenge. This time around the theme is Something Delicious. I thought about it for a little while and settled on cake. That’s delicious right?! I haven’t used the Circle Card Thinlits in a while so I dusted it off for today’s card. My base is Pistachio Pudding Card Stock. I used the Circle Card Thinlits, but left some extra card stock hanging over the end to crete the flip card with another panel. Some of the Lullaby Designer Series Paper* is used to cover the front panels of the card. My greetings and cake are from the new Endless Birthday Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set. On the front the cake is stamped in Coastal Cabana, the greeting in Hello Honey* and I used my Stampin’ Write Markers in Hello Honey*, Coastal Cabana and Pistachio Pudding to create the dots. The Hello Honey* backing is punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the scallop is from the Circle Card Thinlits set. On the inside of the flip I used the same backing and scallop. The greetings are stamped in Sahara Sand, Pistachio Pudding, Hello Honey* and Coastal Cabana. For a little fun addition I cut out some Coastal Cabana, Hello Honey* and Pistachio Pudding with the star from the set and strung them on some White Bakers Twine. I think it’s a nice little surprise when you open the card, don’t you? Loving the Endless Birthday Wishes set too by the way! There you have my card for the SUO Challenges Something Delicious theme. Stop by the blog to see the other delicious projects the rest of the Design Team has and enter your take in the gallery for us to see! Thanks you so much for coming by to see me once again! I really do appreciate all of your visits! Enjoy the reset of your Tuesday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 95

Yesterday was a definitely a Monday! Work was busy and I had to go back after I left to set up one of the forums. So I left work, stopped by my parents, came home and let the dog out, Pinterested, went and set up for the forum and stopped at BJ’s on the way home. All of that was after 5 o’clock! What a day! I did manage to squeeze a card in last night because Wednesday, I’ll be at work from 8 AM until 10 PM. You’ve heard of the best week ever? This is definitely not it! LOL! I hope your Monday was much better than mine. Okay, enough whining. I did get a little present last night from Andrew…

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for their “Featuring Flowers” challenge…

Roses_Bunch_Of_Flowers

I sat and looked at all of the flower stamp sets that I have (there are quite a few of them) and I settled on one that I haven’t used in a while. My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and my background consists of a piece of Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper on the left and a simple of Panel of Whisper White on the right. The white panel in the center has the greeting from the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set, stamped in Smoky Slate and my “stitching” is done with a Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker. The white background panel and the center panel are both adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flower and leaves are from the Stippled Blossoms Stamp Set, the flower is stamped in Crushed Curry and Smoky Slate, the leaves in Pear Pizzazz and Smoky Slate. They are cut out with my Paper Snips and also adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A relatively simple card but I think it has lots of impact. I also really like the subtle shadowing effect on the flower and the leaves with the Smoky Slate. I hope you enjoyed my card for the SUO Challenges “Featuring Flowers” challenge. Take some time to stop by the blog and see what the other designers have come up with and make a flowery card of your own for us to see! As always, your visit is greatly appreciated. I hope your Tuesday is terrific! 🙂

SUO Challenges 94

I do try every week but I’m just not a fan of Monday’s. It started out as a nice sunny day but by 10:00am it was overcast and a little chilly. Work was busy in the morning and then we had a forum at the Carlyle. I did the A/V set up and of course the place didn’t have their sound set up correctly. Never a dull moment! LOL! After work was much better, dinner then card class and Andrew stopped by after. The end of the day was much better than the start, that’s for sure!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog and this time around our theme is Easter…

Screen Shot 2014-04-07 at 10.51.13 PM

I have done a couple of Easter projects recently and I wanted this one to be simple but fun. The base of my card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock and the background is a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper backed by a piece of Tangerine Tango. I took one of the Tea Lace Paper Doilies and sponged it with some Gumball Green and adhered it to the background, cutting a piece of the left side off. The tag is a piece of Whisper White that I punched with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch. Across the bottom I used my Fringe Scissors and some Gumball Green to make some “grass”. My greeting comes from the Eggstra Spectacular Stamp Set and is stamped on the tag in Basic Black. A piece of Daffodil Delight Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon goes through the top and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. Like I said, simple but fun! I really like the sponged doily, it creates a nice break between the tag and the DSP. So there you have my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Easter theme. Take some time to pay a visit to the blog and see what the other talented designers have for your inspiration and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your Easter card! Thanks as always for stopping by today, have a terrific Tuesday!

SUO Challenges 93

Oh Monday why must you be so mean! LOL! Nah, it actually wasn’t too bad for a Monday. Work was the usual crazy and when I got to my parents for dinner my brother, his wife and the baby were there. Oh, and my child was there too! Little Daniel is a cutie, I love his hair and he smiles for me all the time! I posted a picture of him to Instagram last night and it was over on the right on the feed on my blog but for those of you that missed it here he is in all his cuteness!

Daniel 3-24-2014

And if you look at the pictures in the background they are of Taylor when she was little, she was a cutie too, oh alright she still is!

Before I get to today’s post I was over on Mary Fish’s blog yesterday and I noticed that her supply list was quite neat and cool looking. At the end it said try Stampin’ Buddy free. I clicked on the link and came to a very non-descript page with Demo ID and Product Number spaces. I typed them in and it created a clickable supply list. I’m trying it out and you’ll have to let me know what you think of it!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Boxes, Bags and Baskets challenge. I haven’t made a box in a long time so I was quite happy to get to work! My box is made from Wisteria Wonder and Calypso Coral Card Stock. I used my Simply Scored, Paper Snips and Sticky Strip to assemble it. The belly band is a piece of Whisper White and on top is a piece of Wisteria Wonder that I punched out with the Curly Label Punch. I finally got to use my Spiral Flower Bigz Die with some Calypso Coral. The flower is quite easy to make, a run through the Big Shot, some rolling and a bit of hot glue and done! The Easter egg is from the Eggstra Spectacular Stamp Set and is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. Some “Vintage” Wisteria Wonder Bakers Twine holds it in place. I couldn’t just have the box, it needed a little card too. The card is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock with a piece of Calypso Coral  embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. The stamp is also from the Eggstra Spectacular Stamp Set and is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and also punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. My little flowers are Wisteria Wonder punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack with some Basic Jewels Pearls in the middles. The box would make a great place to put some jelly beans which I would have done but I finished the bag the other night! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my project for the SUO Challenges Boxes and Bags challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what my fellow Design Team members have done and enter your project in the gallery for us to see! I hope that you all have a great Tuesday and thank you, as always, for coming by! 🙂

SUO Challenges 92 & Satellite Lane!

A very happy Tuesday to you! Why is it a very happy Tuesday, you ask? We’ll get to that in a minute. We had some snow flurries yesterday morning just to remind us that winter is still not over, but it did manage to get up to 50° in the afternoon, which is tropical compared to what most of the winter has been, in the 20’s! Work was productive and quiet again. Last night I came home, made a card, and plotted with Andrew (again, you’ll see why soon). Okay, okay, enough suspense. Last Wednesday I told you that Andrew and his a cappella group, Satellite Lane, had a big announcement. Well, today’s the day! And who better to tell you about it than Andrew himself?!

Hello there, JK Cards readers! Before I even get started with my announcement, I want to thank you all. So many of you have been concerned about me when I had surgery back in December, when I got really sick in January, and I’ve had quite a few requests to make another card to post on Justin’s blog! I never thought that making a cameo on the blog would turn me into such a celebrity! LOL! I obviously look at Justin’s post every day and I look at all the comments, too. Your sincerity and kindness is truly appreciated! I was just waiting for the right time to thank everyone, and now seemed appropriate. Now on to the exciting announcement! Before I get to the actual announcement, let me give you all a little background on Satellite Lane. We are a group of seven geeky teachers who came together to make music two years ago. In that time, we’ve done some pretty awesome things like sing for people’s wedding proposals, compete in major competitions, and have concerts with groups that are known world wide. All of that has been great, but our announcement today may be our biggest one yet! After a lot of hard work, we are proud to release our first official single, “Geeky Girl”! If any of you like nerdy TV shows, comics, video games, or any other geeky stuff, this is the song for you! If you don’t like any of those things, it’s still a pretty catchy tune, so you should give it a listen! You can get a preview of the song HERE, and it is available for purchase on Loudr.fm HERE. We are really proud of how it came out and we’re hoping we can get as many people as possible to get the word out! So, if you like the song, share the link with your friends, post it on your blog, post it on Facebook, and don’t forget to buy a copy for yourself! As I said before, your help and support for me in general has been amazing, I can’t thank you all enough! I hope you enjoy the song, and I promise, I’ll make another card this week! Thank you so much for your time, it is greatly appreciated.

GeekyGirlCoverArt

Wow! Sorry for that, once he gets typing, there’s no stopping him. LOL! Thanks for reading his book, it’s the first in a series. Ha ha ha! All joking aside, I heard several drafts of the song throughout the process and have had my copy since last week on repeat. It’s really a great song and brings back so many memories! I really hope you enjoy it. Now on to today’s business, my design team card for this week’s SUO Challenges. And this time around we asked you to use pinks and purples in your project.

My card starts off with a base of Blushing Bride Card Stock. The background is a piece of Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper. I really like the look of notebook paper and we really don’t have any, but it’s not really that hard to create. I took a piece of Very Vanilla and used the “Vintage” Spiral Border Punch (a favorite of mine) and a Wisteria Wonder Stampin’ Write Market to draw the lines. Ta-da! Instant notebook paper! Two banners, one in Wisteria Wonder cut out with the Banners Collection Framelits and embossed with the Beautifully Baroque Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and the other a piece of Very Vanilla stamped in Blushing Bride with the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. Two butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set, stamped in Blushing Bride, are punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Moments Ago Stamp Brush Set and is cut out with my E-Cutter from a piece of Elegant Eggplant. On the top is a Subtles Designer Series Button with some Linen Thread tied in a bow. How’s that for some pink and purple?! And by the way, I really think we should start a petition to bring back the Spiral Border Punch! So there you have my card for the SUO Challenges. Click HERE to visit the blog and see what the other designers have done with the challenge and let’s see what you come up with! As always, I appreciate your time, but today I have to say that I think Andrew appreciates it more seeing as he took up more of it. LOL! Thanks again for stopping by today, and have a musical Tuesday!

SUO Challenges 91

Yesterday was a nice quiet day which is especially good for a Monday. Work moved along at a nice pace. It did get a lot colder as the day progressed and I thin last night it dropped down to 28 degrees. So much for our very little taste of Spring! We are supposed to get some more snow later today and tonight but most of what we had gotten is gone so that’s no too bad.

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for my Design Team card for this week’s challenge and that is banner fun! Create a project using banners, simple enough, right?!?!

I love the Banner Blast Stamp Set and the Banner Punch from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog. The best part about the punch is that it will be in the 2014-2015 Annual Catalog! So make sure that you pick one up for FREE during Sale-A-Bration! My card starts off with a base of Very Vanilla Card Stock and the background is a piece of Daffodil Delight. The main panel is also Very Vanilla and I stamped my greeting from the Best of Greetings Stamp Set in Island Indigo. My flower and leaves are from the Peaceful Petals StampSet. The flower is stamped in Calypso Coral and the leaves in Garden Green, both are cut out with my Paper Snips. I used some eyeshadow applicators to color in the images. I love the effect that the “sponging” gives but the control is much better with the eyeshadow applicator. The stamens of the flower are colored in with my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker and the flower is mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The three banners are from the Banner Balst Stamp Set and are stamped in Island Indigo and Calypso Coral. I punched them out with the Banner Punch and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Not too complicated and I love the way the flower looks colored in! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team Card for the SUO Challenges banner fun challenge. Take a quick click over to the blog to see my fellow design team members have for you and enter your card in the gallery! Thank you so much for checking and enjoy your Tuesday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 90

Well folks, we made it through another Monday! Woo-hoo!! Not much to report today, it was a pretty average day at the office. Oh, but someone in Mexico City had some Starbucks, on me! Apparently I was part of the Target Identity Fraud debacle. Here’s my question, how can I be in New York buying something at 8:30 and then in Mexico City buying something at 11:15? Unless I’m hanging out with Scotty and Spock, I don’t think that’s possible! Anyway, a new card is on the way and hopefully all of that will be over and done with by tomorrow. How was your day, anyone buy anything on you in another country? LOL!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog, this time around we have a fun, Punch Parade challenge for you. I decided I would step outside of my comfort zone and put a big bow on my card today. I’m not a much of a bow guy, but it does kind of look neat. The card base is Basic Black Card Stock. The top half of my background is a piece of Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper and the bottom is a piece of Sahara Sand that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A strip of Summer Starfruit separates the two. I created my tag using the Angled Tag Topper Punch and some Basic Black. My bow was made using the Envelope Punch Board. There are some really great YouTube videos showing you tutorials on how to do it. It was pretty easy and actually kind of fun! Mine is made from some more Sweet Sorbet DSP and I used Sticky Strip to adhere it all together. The flowers are from the Petite Petals Stamp Set, are stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. Three Basic Jewels Pearls are adhered in the center of each flower. My greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set, stamped in Basic Black and cut out with one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies. All of the elements are adhered to the tag using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I’ve said it before, I really like the colors in the Sweet Sorbet DSP and the tag made from Basic Black is a nice change of pace! You should definitely head on over to the SUO Design Team blog to see what the other Design Team members have come up with for this challenge! We’d love to see your submissions as well, so enter your card in the gallery! As always I appreciate you stopping by and I hope you have a terrific Tuesday!

Well, we had a little reprieve from the cold today, it got up to 38! That’s warm for us as of late, sad huh?!?! I know that most of the rest of the country is experiencing the same thing as we are here in NY. This has definitely been the worst winter we have had in a long time. Let’s hope that spring gets here quick and that the summer makes up for all of the cold we have had. My day today was quiet, work was calm and I came home and crafted for a bit and then watched a movie. nothing special, just needed to get lost for a little while. I find that if I have a lot on my mind watching something clears it for bit. I also forgot to ask yesterday who watched the Grammy’s? I thought that the best performance of the night was P!nk, that song try is one of my all time favorites! Who did you think was the best?

Today my post is for the SUO Challenges blog. This time around we ask you to create a one layer card! I do love to make them, though they can be a little challenging, I’m more of a layers person myself! My card is a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock. All of the stamps are from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set except for the “string” the banners are hung from, that is from the “Vintage” Little Additions Stamp Set. The banners and greeting are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and the Eiffel Tower in Soft Suede. Oh, I told a fib, the little Cherry Cobbler Heart is from the Countless Sayings 1 Photopolymer Stamp Set. Neat how it fits right inside the Eiffel Tower! My trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig helped me line everything up perfectly! A simple but fun one layer card. I hope that you enjoyed my post for the SUO Challenges blog. Don’t forget to head on over to the blog and see what the other design team members have for inspiration for you and then enter your card in the gallery for us to see! Thank you so much for dropping by, have a great day! 🙂
