SUO Challenges 88

Sigh… not a happy Tuesday for me, it’s the first day back to work. I’m kidding! LOL! I’m looking forward to seeing my co-workers. Of course I would rather stay home and stamp the day away but for now that isn’t an option! I need to pay for them right?! LOL! I had busy day yesterday, went into Manhattan for a bit for a little crafty time with my friend Isabella. When I got home I tried to get some stuff done around the house but the craft area was calling my name, maybe tomorrow! Here are few more pictures form Leadership! The first one is Ann, Brian, Anne Marie and me, the new Paper Players! LOL! Kidding!

Below, I’m honored to be in such great company as Mary Fish and Lisa Pretto! That’s some stampin’ royalty!

Now on to today’s post. This time around at SUO Challenges we’re having fun with new catalogue items… YAY! 🙂

My card starts off with a base of Bermuda Bay Card Stock. The background is a piece of Crushed Curry cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit Die. I used the Geometrical Stamp Set to stamp the black hexagons and filled in some of the spaces with Strawberry Slush hexagons. The tag is created with the Angled Tag Topper Punch. The greeting is also from the Geometrical Stamp Set, stamped in Basic Black, I used the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to cut out pieces of Bermuda Bay and Strawberry Slush to fill in the O’s. A strip of paper from the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper Pack goes across the bottom. A pretty simple card but I really do love that Hexagon Hive Thinlit Die and a tag makes everything better! I appreciate you stopping by to see my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges. Don’t forget to head on over to the blog to see what the other designers have come up with and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the challenge! I hope you have a terrific Tuesday and I’ll see you back here tomorrow morning!

SUO Challenges 87 & Sneak Peek

Well, here we are, the last day of 2013! Can you believe that it’s over? I think that the year just flew by. It seems like just yesterday I was at Convention. And now in a little over a week, I’ll be leaving for Leadership. Amazing just how fast things move. Hopefully it’s warmer in Texas than it is here because it was freezing today and it’s supposed to be 12 degrees on Friday! Brrrr!

For my last post of the year I have my card for the SUO Challenge. This time we ask you to create a card using January colors…

SUO Challenges 87-WM

When I think of January, I think of cold, so I used blues and some snowflakes for my card. The base of my card is Island Indigo. For the background I used a piece of the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper. Another piece of Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Island Indigo is on top of that. A banner of the Silver Foil Sheet goes across that and my flag is cut out from a piece of Bermuda Bay with the Banners Framelits Dies* and embossed with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Two more pieces of the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper are cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Bring on the Cake Stamp Set, is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with the Word Bubble Framelits*. How’s that for a festive, chilly birthday card?! If you’ll notice, I didn’t tell you what the name of the Designer Series Paper that is backed with Island Indigo is called. Let’s play a fun little game! Let’s see how many of you can tell me what it’s called. From all of you that answer correctly, I will select one random person and send them a little surprise. No cheating and reading the other comments. LOL! I hope you enjoyed my SUO Challenges card this time around. Head on over to the blog to see what the other designers have come up and don’t forget to enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the challenge! Have a great day, and we’ll see you back here next year! Woo hoo!!

Oh, and don’t forget that if you want any of the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper or Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack you only have three days left to order it before it’s gone! 🙂

SUO Challenges 86

Snow, more snow, I don’t really care for snow. We have had a lot of snow this year already. I would like the winter that we had two years ago, I think we had one snow storm and then the that was it. I did like that a lot! LOL! Yesterday was a pretty good day for a Monday, not too insane at work and quiet when I got home. I crafted a little and then watched the Sing Off. I don’t watch TV at all usually, thanks Andrew! LOL!

My post for today is for the SUO Challenges and this week we have a very timely challenge for you. It actually helped me out a lot! We ask you to create last minute Christmas cards and gifts. I definitely needed some more cards and I wanted them to be easy to make a bunch of. I looked around for the perfect stamp set and settled on the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Set. It’s one of our most popular sets! The bases of the cards are all Very Vanilla Card Stock. Pieces of Cherry Cobbler make a nice base for my stamped panel. Some more Very Vanilla takes on the stamps. I used Soft Sky, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Gumball Green for the snowflakes. All of the greetings are stamped in Cherry Cobbler to tie in the backing. Simple but fun and way better than any boxed cards you could buy and so much more personal! When you have a lot of cards to send out simple can be great! I hope you enjoyed my stack of last minute Christmas cards for the SUO Challenges. Head on over to the blog to get some more ideas for your last minute projects and share one of yours with us by adding it to the gallery. Thanks for spending some time with me today and enjoy! 🙂

SUO Challenges 85

It was a nice day here yesterday, it got up into the 50’s but boy did it get cold last night! I went to my friend Sandy’s for Stamp-A-Stack (it helps me get a bunch of cards done to send out!) which is always a good time. I have to polish my Leadership presentation and get started on the visual part next. I’m so excited to be doing it but still a bit nervous at the same time. I want it to be the best! How was your day?

Every other Tuesday it’s time for another post for SUO Challenges. This time we ask that you make a non-traditional Christmas card. Well, we all know how I love that!! My card starts off with a base of Strawberry Slush Card Stock. I used my sunburst Window Sheet template to create my background using a sponge dauber and some Coastal Cabana ink. My image is from the Joyful Christmas Stamp Set and is stamped in Strawberry Slush on Blushing Bride and cut out with my Paper Snips. I used the Owl Builder Punch to punch out some So Saffron dots for the middle of the flower. The greeting is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set, stamped in the same colors and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. My poinsettia and greeting are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A very non-traditional Christmas card but if you think about it the pinks and blue-green are not that far away from red and green and that sunburst template has come in quite handy! I always appreciate you stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges non traditional Christmas card challenge. Do stop by the blog to see what my fellow design team members have done and enter your creation in the gallery so we can check out your take. Enjoy your day! 🙂

SUO Challenges 84

Glad to see that we all made it through another Monday. Mine was filled with meetings and the usual office shenanigans. It was another nice day, a little windy, but not too cold. This morning however, it’s really windy and promises to get a lot colder, winter is back again. I really don’t mind it’s little appearances, lets just hope that it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome!

My card today is for the SUO Challenges and this time our theme is let it snow. I decided on a nice simple card, sometimes you just need one don’t you?! The base of my card is Gumball Green Card Stock. I used a piece of Pool Party for the background and stamped the snowflakes from the Snow Day Stamp Set in Pool Party randomly. My tree is from the Special Season Stamp Set and is heat embossed with Gumball Green Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The greeting is from the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set and is stamped in Gumball Green. This would be a great card to mass produce because while it’s simple, the embossed tree gives it that little something extra! Thanks so much for coming by today to see my simple card for the SUO Challenges let it snow challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what the other clever designers have come up with and don’t forget to post your card in the gallery! Have a simply enjoyable day!

SUO Challenges 83

As far as Monday’s go yesterday wasn’t too bad. Work was bearable and it was nice and quiet when I got home. It was really cold here but it’s supposed to warm up later in the week. I spoke to a friend last night on the phone, something that I don’t really do as most people just usually text these days. I also got to sit at the craft desk for a while and just play. We all know there is nothing I like more than that! Tomorrow is gym day and I am looking forward to that too!

Today’s post is for the SUO Challenges Design Team. This time around we ask you to use your favorite greeting. I didn’t even have to think about this one, I knew right away just what I would use. The base of today’s card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I used some Brushed Gold Card Stock and the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. The little snowflakes are from the “Vintage” Northern Frost Sizzlit Decorative Strip Die and are cut out from Whisper White. I stamped my greeting using the “Vintage” Heart of Christmas Stamp, heat embossed it with some Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder and rounded the corners. Behind it is a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies and used the Essential Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce just the top and bottom. A piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch goes in the middle and Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the pieces to the card. I really do love the Heart of Christmas stamp and was sad to see it go with last year’s Holiday Catalog. I was also happy when I found my Norther Frost Strip Die, I had forgotten that I had it! Thanks very much for stopping by to see my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges blog. Speaking of blog don’t forget to to head over and check out the other designers projects and enter yours in the gallery. Have a good day! 🙂

Sometimes my job is absolutely insane, well, most of the time. I work in a very busy department, we “help” out everyone in the building. I’m lucky because I really do like the four people in my department and my boss is just a really good person. Every once in a while when you do go beyond what is really your job something nice happens. There was a presentation today with Pace University and I offered to do the media set up. Our IT Department is mostly useless and I do like to make sure that the CEO and COO don’t look like fools. After the presentation they both thanked me for making myself available to assist and that they knew because I was there it would go smoothly. Amazing how something so simple as a little thanks can make your day. 🙂

Now for the reason you spend a little time with me, today’s post and it’s for SUO Challenges. This time around we are given a theme… Harvest. When I thought of that I immediately thought of the Harvest of Thanks Stamp Set, I know, genius right?! LOL! I did want to mix it up a little to keep things interesting! For the base of my card I used some Elegant Eggplant Card Stock. A piece of Early Espresso Core’dinations is embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and lightly sanded with the Stampin’ Sanding System. Next up is the backdrop for my main image which is made using the Truly Grateful Stamp Set and some Crushed Curry Ink. I stamped the image twice, trimmed it and backed it with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The main image is from the Harvest of Thanks Stamp Set and I stamped the image three times, once in Cherry Cobbler, again in Elegant Eggplant and finally in Crushed Curry. They are cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies and I used my trusty Paper Snips to separate the pieces and then some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it all together. I like the colors together, especially the brightness of the Elegant Eggplant, I haven’t used that color in a while. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for the theme challenge over at SUO Challenges. Visit the blog to see what the other Design Team members have for inspiration and enter your card in the gallery for us to see. Thanks you so much for visiting today. Have a great Tuesday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 81

It was officially a Monday yesterday! I have given up all hope of catching up at work and I am just going to go with it. They can add much faster than I can subtract! LOL! The weather here yesterday was a little sunny in the morning and then it got gradually gloomier until it started raining around 5:00. I guess that’s the end of our glorious weather, and I was enjoying it so much! All good things must come to an end as they say. Did you have a good Monday? I hope so!

For today’s post I have my card for the SUO Challenges. This time around we are asked to make a masculine project. I know most people think dark browns or dark blues but I’m a guy and I like all sorts of colors! I went with the metal look and some bright blues.

The base of the card is Pacific Point Card Stock with a layer of Tempting Turquoise. I used a piece of the Silver Foil Sheets with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the top of the background. All of the stamped images and greeting are from the Rev Up the Fun! Stamp Set and are stamped in Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise except for the tire tracks, they are stamped in Basic Gray. Some chevrons punched out with the Chevron Border Punch, again in Pacific Point and Tempting Turquoise, give the card a little motion in front of and behind the race cars. I’m really glad that I got the Rev Up the Fun! set, I have used it a lot more than I thought I would! I’m also loving the bright blues with the SIlver Foil Sheets and they emboss really nicely. Thanks so much for taking some time to stop by and see my card for the SUO Challenges Design Team. I hope you’ll head on over to the blog to see the other designers cards and enter yours in the gallery. Have a great Tuesday everyone! 🙂

It’s always hard getting back into reality for me when I am away for more than the standard 2 days. Even more so when I have actually gone somewhere! Today was not a bad Monday but things are about to ramp up at work so I’d better enjoy it while I can. I still can’t believe the amazing weekend that I had. I told my friend Daniele today that I would prefer it if I could Zip-Line to work every day! It’s nice to be home but I really did have a great time away!

Time sure moves at a rapid pace because it’s time once again for SUO Challenges. For this challenge we have a theme for you, welcome baby. I figured it has been a few days since I have used my favorite new products, the Thinlits Card Dies! LOL! The base of the card is Strawberry Slush Card Stock cut to 5 1/8″ x 8 3/8″ and run through my Big Shot with the Label Card Thinlits Dies leaving the right edge over the top. The main image is from the Zoo Babies Stamp Set and is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and cut out with the label die that comes with set. The greeting is from the One in a Million Stamp Set, the front one is cut out with the banner die and the inside with the label again, both stamped in Wisteria Wonder. All of the elements are cut out from Wisteria Wonder using the various elements included with the Card Thinlits. A fun but simple card with plenty of room on the inside to write. I really do love the Card Thinlits but I like them even better with the extra flap! Thank you, as always, for stopping by to see my SUO Challenges Design Team card for the welcome baby challenge. Click over to the blog to see what my fellow designers have for inspiration for you and add one of your creations to the gallery. Have a good Tuesday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 79

Before I get to anything else today I wanted to let you know that beginning on September 12th you can order the Stampin’ Up! Magnetic Platform for the Big Shot. This is a must have accessory for your framelits! No more Post-It notes to hold them in place. I have had mine for a few months and I use it all the time. They were on backorder for a while but they are back in stock. I’m thinking this is Stampin’ Up!’s way of celebrating my birthday! LOL! Isn’t that nice of them?!?! Here is a picture of the sandwich used with the Magnetic Platform:

So if you don’t have one and have wanted to get one Thursday is the day people! 🙂

Yesterday was a little cool here but very nice. My cold seems to be getting a little better and I got to thank my friend Danielle in person for sharing it with me! She was supposed to go skydiving on Sunday but they waited for two hours and it was too windy so they have to try another time. I think I may join her the next time she goes! 🙂

For today’s post I have my SUO Challenges Design Team card for you. This time around we were asked to use our favorite techniques. I do have a lot but I love to use my Stamp-a-ma-jig and a Blender Pen and this is the card I came up with. The base is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. For the background I stamped a piece of Pistachio Pudding with a stamp from the Make a Wish Stamp Set in Pistachio Pudding using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to create the pattern. The main panel consists of two images from the Sketched Birthday Stamp Set stamped in Jet Black Staz-On and colored in with my Blender Pen and some Baked Brown Sugar, Calypso Coral and So Saffron Ink. I cut it and a piece of Baked Brown Sugar out with my Circles Collection Framelits Dies and used some Stampin’ Dimensionals in between to adhere them. The greeting is from the same set and is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. I cut out a piece of Baked Brown Sugar to back it with and keep it consistent with the main images. I really like the background created with the repeated stamp, it’s gives a nice change from DSP or embossing and the stamps from the Sketched Birthday set are just fun! Thanks for dropping by to see my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Favorite Technique challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what my fellow Design Team members choose for theirs and enter one of your creations in the gallery! Have a great Tuesday!
