Pals Paper Arts 174

I’m off to Manhattan for a bit today but I will be doing some serious crafting later. Nothing out of the ordinary but today is a special day because it’s World Card Making Day! Will you be making some cards today? If you do then you need to participate because Stampin’ Up! has a special contest to help celebrate. Here are all of the details:

There are two ways to enter:

  • E-mail a photo of a card, or of you making a card, made with Stampin’ Up! product on World Cardmaking Day to [email protected].
  • Post a photo of a card, or of you making a card, made with Stampin’ Up! product on World Cardmaking Day on Instagram. Mention us by typing @stampinup and use the hashtag #wcmd2013 in the description.

This contest is open to everyone-demonstrators, customers, friends, spouses, children . . . you get the idea. However, there are a few conditions:

  • You must be over the age of 18 to win a prize.
  • You can enter as many times as you wish, but each entry must feature a different card.
  • Contest will last all day on October 5, from 12:01 AM to 12:00 PM.
  • We will randomly select 100 winners from our North American markets to receive a Paper Pumpkin Kit (valued at $19.95 US/ $20.95 CA)*, and we will select 50 winners from our South Pacific and European markets to receive the Naughty and Nice Rotary Stamp and Season of Style Designer Washi Tape.

A selection of pictures will be posted to Stampin’ Up!’s World Cardmaking Day Pinterest Board and the winners announced in a later current update.

That’s pretty neat huh?! I’ll also post my mum’s Birthday card tomorrow for you to see and some other cards for you in addition to my regular post! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! released a new product yesterday called Pop & Place Gift Tags & Stamps. It’s a kit that comes with over 70 pre-cut tags and a Photopolymer Stamp Set. The best part is that the tags match a lot of our punches and dies. You can get just the tags, just the stamps, both the tags and the stamps or you can get a starter kit with the stamps, tags, a Soft Suede Stampin’ Spot and a Clear Block C. You can see all of the pricing on the flyer below and if you would like a PDF you can click here to get one. I think it’s a really neat idea and would also make a great gift for someone!

I love the stamps! Shocker! LOL! Now for today’s post I have my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s color challenge…

PPA 174

Remember when I said that yesterday it was very unusual for me to use a color challenge for the obvious card? Well, I went in the complete opposite direction today! The base of today’s card is Baked Brown Sugar that I cut out with my Circle Card Thinlits Die. I left the right side over the top to make the extended piece, I like to do that because it gives you a little more space to write. The middle of the front circle is a piece of Pumpkin Pie that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits, I also used them to cut out the ring around the circle. Some Pear Pizzaz cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit Die goes on top of the circle and also on either side at the bottom. One of the stamps from the Christmas Collectibles Stamp Set is stamped in Pumpkin Pie and punched out with the Christmas Ornament Punch. In the middle is one of the In Color Boutique Details in Baked Brown Sugar. On the inside of the circle is a piece of Pear Pizzaz punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and the greeting is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set and is cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies. My favorite part of the card is the way that the ring circles the outside and then the inside. Also, when I think of Christmas I don’t necessarily think of red and green, decorations are all kinds of colors. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thank you for stopping by to see my card and my little tangent above! I wish you the best Saturday ever!

SUO Challenges 80

It’s always hard getting back into reality for me when I am away for more than the standard 2 days. Even more so when I have actually gone somewhere! Today was not a bad Monday but things are about to ramp up at work so I’d better enjoy it while I can. I still can’t believe the amazing weekend that I had. I told my friend Daniele today that I would prefer it if I could Zip-Line to work every day! It’s nice to be home but I really did have a great time away!

Time sure moves at a rapid pace because it’s time once again for SUO Challenges. For this challenge we have a theme for you, welcome baby. I figured it has been a few days since I have used my favorite new products, the Thinlits Card Dies! LOL! The base of the card is Strawberry Slush Card Stock cut to 5 1/8″ x 8 3/8″ and run through my Big Shot with the Label Card Thinlits Dies leaving the right edge over the top. The main image is from the Zoo Babies Stamp Set and is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and cut out with the label die that comes with set. The greeting is from the One in a Million Stamp Set, the front one is cut out with the banner die and the inside with the label again, both stamped in Wisteria Wonder. All of the elements are cut out from Wisteria Wonder using the various elements included with the Card Thinlits. A fun but simple card with plenty of room on the inside to write. I really do love the Card Thinlits but I like them even better with the extra flap! Thank you, as always, for stopping by to see my SUO Challenges Design Team card for the welcome baby challenge. Click over to the blog to see what my fellow designers have for inspiration for you and add one of your creations to the gallery. Have a good Tuesday! 🙂

Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad September Blog Hop!

SSSHeader

Before I get to today’s post I wanted to thank all of the wonderful people that stopped by yesterday to wish me a Happy Birthday! It really means a lot to me! A huge thank you to Brian who is just awesome, sneaky but awesome, but you know that already! So yes, today is my birthday and it has been a really great one so far! 🙂

Thank you so much for joining us for the September Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad Blog Hop! This month we are focusing on the tools of the stampin’ trade. Specifically, each of our favorite stamping tools. It’s amazing the kinds of tools that have been created to help us along in our paper-crafting addictions. This month’s blog hop will showcase many of the Stampin’ Up! tools that are now available to us in the 2013-2014 Stampin’ Up! Idea Book and Holiday Catalog and even a couple of products that are so new they aren’t in either catalog. We hope you enjoy seeing how we use the old and new tools and are inspired to come up with some great projects of your own.

You should have just left Kim R. of Stamping with Kim on the Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad blog hop. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn’t work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

For my project I used more than one of my favorite tools. My all time favorite tool is definitely my Big Shot, I think I use it in almost every card that I make! One of the new things they have for the Big Shot is the Thinlits Dies. They are just the coolest thing to come along in a while. You can make a flip card in minutes and variations on it too! My second favorite tool is my Stamp-a-ma-jig, I used that one an awful lot too!

My card uses the Circle Card Thinlits Dies with a little extension on the end. It’s actually quite easy to do, just leave 2 7/8″ extra card stock over the top of the right edge when you run it through the Big Shot, it even scores it for you! The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock. I used some Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper for the background that I trimmed using the Circles Collection Framelits. The front of the circle flip is a piece of Raspberry Ripple that I stamped with a stamp from the Cycle Celebration Stamp Set in Raspberry Ripple using my Stamp-a-ma-jig. The soda bottle is stamped in Summer Starfruit, the banner in Island Indigo and I cut them both out with my Paper Snips. The inside circle is a piece of Summer Starfruit that I embossed with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the greeting I stamped the Celebrate a Sweet Birthday in Raspberry Ripple and Island Indigo. The Decorative Label Punch and Scallop Oval Punch cut them out and some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. I really do love the Circle Card Thinlits, especially with the extra piece on the right! Thanks for hopping by to my blog to see my project for this month’s project. Now you are off to see Heidi B. of Stuck on Stampin’, she will have some good stuff for you too! Just another thanks for all of the birthday wishes! Have a great day and a pice of cake for me! 🙂

Fab Friday 26

Woo hoo! You know what today is!! It’s FRIDAY! If I didn’t start my post off like that you would think you were in the wrong place! LOL! Work was very busy all week and office equipment tried to thwart my progress on numerous occasions. Let’s see if I can prevail today. I’m off to Manhattan tonight with my friend Heather to meet some peeps. It’s supposed to be fall like here today with summer making a comeback over the weekend. I’ll let you know about the festivities tomorrow!

It’s also time for another Fab Friday challenge. This week we have a fun color challenge for you…

Fab Fri 26 Colors 9-6-2013

Every once in a while when I see that there are five colors I panic a little but then I realized that all of these colors are in the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper. The base of the card is Sahara Sand Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of the aforementioned DSP that I “ticketed” the corners on and backed with a piece of Chocolate Chip. The snowflakes are from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set and are stamped in Soft Sky and cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits Dies. The tag is rounded at the top with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and “ticketed” on the bottom corners. A piece of Crushed Curry punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack is at the top with some Linen Thread tied in a bow. The greeting is from the Christmas Messages Stamp Set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip. I stamped the Cheer on a cut out from the Label Card Thinlits Dies, I like the 3D effect that it gives the greeting. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. You know that I love a non traditional Christmas card and this one definitely fits the bill. It also has a little bit of rustic country feel to it. Thank you very much for checking in with me today to see my Fab Friday Design Team card for this week’s color challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what my talented teammates have done and enter your card in the gallery so we can see how clever you are! Have a very fab Friday! 🙂

Chevron Christmas

A merry Sunday to you! I had a nice day yesterday, I got some projects finished in the morning and had a great time at the block party. I got to see lots of friends and play with the kiddies. It was  a pretty nice day, overcast and it only sprinkled just for a little bit. Today there is a chance of some rain but so far it’s not bad. I will get some more projects done and play a little too. What are you all up to?

For today’s post I have a simple Christmas card for you. It’s for the Chevron Challenge over at Catherine & Cathy Create. The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake. I stamped the greeting from the Joy to the World Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler right on the background. The Merry is cut from Cherry Cobbler using the Expressions Thinlits Dies and adhered to the base using some 2-Way Glue. I punched out Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake with the Chevron Border Punch and adhered them to a strip of Crumb Cake. Some Stampin’ DImensionals adhere them to the card. I really like the simplicity and the the way that the Expressions Thinlit goes with the greeting. Thank you for stopping by to see my simple Merry Sunday card. Be sure to stop by the Catherine & Cathy Create blog to see the other projects! Have a very nice day Everyone!
