Can You Case It 62

I had a good day yesterday! I got some of my projects done and had lunch with Taylor. Anthony and Bill came and picked me up around 2:30 and we headed into Manhattan. We got in early so that we could have dinner. We ended up eating at this little diner a few blocks from the Miller Theater where Harmony Sweepstakes takes place. A good burger and really good fries! We arrived at the theater and they let us in a little early so that Anthony wouldn’t have any issues with the wheelchair. Andrew and Satellite Lane were up second and they did a really great set! They made it like a skit with three songs. I have the video and will try to post it to YouTube at some point this week. They won for best innovation and choreography. The group that did win was called Low Key and they were really good. It was great to see Andrew and everyone else and I got to meet his dad for the first time! I got home around 11:15 and Taylor stopped by for a bit. I slept in this morning hence the reason I’m a little late, guess I needed some more rest!

Today I’m over on the Can You Case It blog for this week’s challenge which is Designer Choice…

CYCI #62

Love a challenge like this and I had the perfect card for it! My card starts with a base of Whisper White Card stock. For the front I used a piece of Kraft Card Stock and heat embossed the dashed line from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The large butterfly is actually the same as the butterfly that I cut out of a piece of Blushing Bride using the Butterfly Thilits. I saw that Mercedes Weber had cut two out of Fun Foam and glued them together and used them as a stamp. What a cool idea! I did the same and also heat embossed that in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The Blushing Bride butterfly is heat embossed with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder. My leaves tucked behind the flower are from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set and are stamped in Pear Pizzaz on Very Vanilla. I cut them out using a die that got on Etsy. Love those leaves and they do look best cut out so the die is a home run! The burlap flower is similar to one that I had made a while ago. I used some burlap sheets that are coated in Mod Podge and cut out with one of the circles from the Circles Collection Framelits. A slit is cut halfway up each circle and they are hot glued together and then to each other to form the flower. In the middle is a Vintage Faceted Button and a Gold Basic Metal Button. For the greeting I used the one from the Butterfly Basic Set and heat embossed it in Blushing Bride on the Kraft. All of the elements are then adhered to the background, some sequins are sprinkled around and the card is finished. I sent this card to my friend Andrea for her birthday and she loved it! I hope that you like it too! Don’t forget to visit the Can You Case It blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with the challenge. Thank you very much for coming to see me today! Have an amazing Sunday! 🙂

Control Freaks March Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Hello there and welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! The theme for this month’s tour is Spring! Who couldn’t use some Spring! I’m over the Winter and have been for quite some time! We are supposed to get snow today too. Will it ever end?! LOL! If you are following along with the tour then you have arrived here from the very clever Debbie Henderson’s blog, she had some great projects didn’t she?! I have two cards for you this time around so lets get right to them!

My first card definitely has real Spring feel to it! The card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. My background is a piece of Soft Sky and I stamped the greeting from the Flower Fair Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. All of the flowers are from the same set and are stamped in So Saffron, Crushed Curry, Blushing Bride, Strawberry Slush, Pear Pizzaz and Always Artichoke. I used the coordinating Flower Patch Framelits to cut out all of the stamped images. Some are adhered to the card with SNAIL and others with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I adhered a sequin in the middle of each one. The butterfly is a piece of Calypso Coral that I cut out with the Butterfly Thinlits. I covered the entire die cut with Versa-Mark and then heat embossed it multiple time with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A piece of Stampin’ Dimensional holds it to the card. I love all of the colors mixed together and I just can’t get enough of the clear embossed die cuts, I think they are so cool!

Control Freaks March Blog Tour - Card 1-WM

The second card that I have for you today is another card with a spring feel but could be used for so many different occasions. It was also pretty easy to make using one of the card from the Project Life Everyday Adventure Card Kit! The base for this card is also Whisper White Card Stock. I adhered a piece of Stacked with Love Designer Washi Tape down the left side and part of one of the cards from the Everyday Adventure Card Kit down the right side. In the middle os a panel of Bermuda Bay that is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is another card from the kit and I used one of the dies form the Mini Treat Bag Thinlit to cut out the holes on the right side. A piece of Silver Thread is threaded through the holes with some “Vintage” Frosted Sequins and silver seed beads randomly added. The card is then adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love that saying and the card and I’m always looking for ways to use the Project Life cards since I’m not a big scrapbooker!

OSAT Spring Flowers Blog Hop

OSAT Header

Hello my peeps and a very happy Thursday to you! Today I’m participating in a blog hop with a bunch of my friends from one of the Facebook groups that I belong to. It’s called One Stamp at a Time Cards and More. The focus this month is on Spring! Who couldn’t use a little Spring?! I know that I’m all about the flowers and bright colors lately trying to hurry it along! If you have arrived here from Martie Hillyer’s blog, welcome! Didn’t she have some fun projects?! I have a card and a 3D project for you today!

First up is the card. I have been really enjoying watercoloring lately so I had to do another floral watercolor card. My card base is Naturals White Card Stock. All of the images are from the Forever Florals Stamp Set. I heat embossed the Lavender on my Watercolor Paper background with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and painted it with Blackberry Bliss Ink. The rest of the flowers are heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Watercolor Paper also. I used Hello Honey and Strawberry Slush Ink to paint the other flowers. They are cut out with Paper Snips and adhered to the card SNAIL and Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Ellen Hutson Zipper Panel Designer Die and is cut out from a piece of Blackberry Bliss. I used some Multi-Purpose Glue to adhere it to the card. The sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh and also adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue. I adhered a piece of craft foam behind the Watercolor panel and then adhered it to the card base. I really do love the look of the white heat embossing with the watercoloring, so soft and subtle and the sequins add just the right amount of bling!

Forever Floral Watercolor-WM

Forever Floral Watercolor Close-WM

My 3D project uses two of the new Bigz Dies from the 2015 Occasions Catalog. The basket is created from White Coaster Board and cut out with the Berry Basket Bigz L Die. I used some Kraft Card Stock for the scallop and it’s held together with staples from the Handheld Stapler. For the grass I used the Fringe Scissors and some Garden Green. The large poppy is cut out from Real Red and Basic Black with the Bouquet Bigz L Die. I put it together with hot glue and then placed it in the basket. For little extra I cut out a piece of Whisper White with the Handpicked Framelits and stamped the greeting from the From the Garden Photopolymer Stamp Set. I heat embossed the flower on Real Red with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut it out with my Paper Snips. The bow is a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper also cut out with the Handpicked Framelits. On the front of the basket is a butterfly cut out from a piece of Hello Honey with the Butterfly Framelits and held on to the basket with a Mini Metallic Clothes Pin. I think that this would make a fun centerpiece for any table!

Freshly Made Sketches 175

And it’s Friday!! Woo hoo! I have another location to go to for work this morning and then I have my card class later on at Scrap-A-Latte. That’s going to be a good time! Taylor is going to come and help too! I’ll let you know how that goes tomorrow! Yesterday was cold yet again, I know you must be tired of hearing how cold it is here, but I promise that I will never complain about the heat this summer (which hopefully we have a lot of!)! LOL! Speaking of which I can’t wait for it to get here! Last night I had to run to BestBuy to get some ink for my printer and Michaels to pick up some last minute class stuff. Later on after I got home I Skyped with my friend Eva for a bit. Another pretty good day!

So I’m a little addicted to the “licorice” heat embossing Thinlits look and I have used it again on my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 175

I kept the rest of the card really simple. My base is Night of Navy Card Stock. The main panel is a piece of Crumb Cake. I cut out the “hello” three times from Coastal Cabana, Night of Navy and Calypso Coral. They are all heat embossed multiple times with Simon Says Stamp Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder. I used some Multi-Purpose Glue to adhere them to the Crumb Cake. A piece of “Vintage” Calypso Coral Baker’s Twine is tied in a bow at the very top. I backed it with a piece of Coastal Cabana and instead of using Stampin’ Dimensionals I used a piece of Fun Foam and adhered it with SNAIL to the back of the Coastal Cabana piece and then adhered that to the base. Like I said a really simple card but I love the colors and the glossy hellos! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I thank you very much for coming by to see me and wish you all an absolutely fantastic Friday! 🙂

Mojo 386

Hey there peeps! It’s Thursday! Yay! It was a heat wave here yesterday, we got up to 40 degrees! LOL! That’s a lot warmer than we have had in a very long time! I had a nice day yesterday, when I got home Daniel was at my parent’s so I spend a little time with him. His asks you “what’s dis?” and that means that he wants you to take him to whatever he is pointing at. We spent a little time opening and closing the microwave door and then we played with the magnets on the fridge. He is too funny! I stopped by my house and grabbed the stuff that I had to take to Scrap-A-Latte and then headed out. It’s always nice to go there and see Renee, it was just the two of us, well, we Skyped with my friend Andrea in Colorado for a bit. We had a good laugh and got all of the stuff ready for card class. There are 16 people and there are four cards, lots to cut, but fun! No, I didn’t manage to leave without buying something. I got the new Tim Holtz Bird Crazy Stamp Set and a Authentique 6 x6 Paper Pad called Classique:Beauty. Not too bad! I stopped by and saw Brian, Kim and Heather on the way home. Brian had made chicken parmesan with Panko breadcrumbs and fresh mozzarella baked to perfection, that’s what was for dinner! Not a bad way to end a Wednesday!

When I did finally get home last night I sat down and made my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo386

Ahh… tall & skinny, I do love them! Sometimes when I sit down to make a card I just kind of let it happen. I don’t have any particular idea in my head. That’s what I did last night, I’m not sure if I love the color combo, you’ll have to let me know what you think. The base for the card is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of Smoky Slate. My piece in the middle is So Saffron. For the main panel I embossed a piece of Wisteria Wonder with the Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed it with some Basic Black. A strip of Pear Pizzaz is flagged on the right and adhered to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flower is from the Petal Potpourri Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Vellum. I used my Daffodil Delight and Wisteria Wonder Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color it on the back side. Some of the Clear Foam Adhesive holds it to the banner. The you is one of the Hello You Thinlits cut from a piece of Basic Black and the heat embossed multiple times with Simon Says Stamp Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder. A few drops of 2-Way Glue adheres it to the card. I’m still really loving the way the Thinlit greetings look all shiny like that! So there you have my unusual card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. You will have to let me know what you think of the color combo! Thanks so much for you time today! Have an excellent Thursday! 🙂

Paper Players 233

That was a long Sunday! It was snowing huge flakes in the morning. I got to the train and it was 15 minutes late and it felt like I waited forever for a subway, 20 minutes to be exact! I got off the subway at 63rd and Lexington and stopped at Starbucks to get a coffee. I spent a nice long morning with my friend Isabella. I love seeing her, she is such a great person and so much fun to spend time with. After that I went to see my friends Julia and Ramsay! Always fun to see them and their two girls. I headed back to Penn Station around 6:15 and got the 6:51 to Hicksville. Dad picked me up and I finished my laundry and had some dinner. When I came home I sat down and made my card for today. I did snap a picture of my parent’s backyard in the morning, you can see how huge the snowflakes are!

Mom & Dads Snow

They were more like snowballs! LOL! It did get sunny in the afternoon and it wasn’t too cold. All in all a very nice way to spend a Sunday! I hope that your weekend was as good as mine!

Now on to my card for today, it’s for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from my clever friend Sandy…

Paper Players #233

I just had to dig out an old favorite of mine for this card! The base for today’s card is Night of Navy Card Stock. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the front and drew around it with my Gold Gelly Pen before I removed the Framelit. The greeting is from the Hello Life Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I used one size larger of the Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out and then a little 2-Way Glue adheres it to the back of the front panel. The image on the banner is from the same set and is also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with one of the elements from the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits. My feather is from the “Vintage” Four Feathers Stamp Set and again is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Feathers Framelits. Some 2-Way glue adheres the banner and feather to the card. A little Hemptique Natural Hemp Twine tied in a bow and adhered with a Glue Dot completes the card. Oh how I have missed my feathers! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from Sandy! Thanks so much for taking some time to stop by and catch up! Have a marvelous Monday everyone! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 173

Oh yes… it’s that day… my favorite day… you guessed it, it’s FRIDAY!! Woo hoo! Bring on the weekend!! I’m looking forward to getting some projects finished and maybe even a trip into Manhattan at some point! Yesterday we had peeks of sun and then it snowed for about 30 minutes and was done. It’s supposed to get bitterly cold here over the next few days, they said that we might even break a record low temperature. That should be fun… NOT! Today I have a meeting this morning and then Andrew is going to come and meet me for lunch. Tonight I have a date with my friend Sandy! We are going to go out to dinner and then have a little crafty time! A lovely way to spend a Friday night! What’s going on by you this weekend?!

So I came home last night and played around in the Stampin’ Galley for a bit, I even got to do some watercoloring! One of the cards that i made last night is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 173

I wanted to do something collage and a little off kilter so this is what I came up with. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of the Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. Down the left side is a piece of paper from the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper Pack. The panel in the middle is a piece of Vellum. I used another piece of the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper and some of the Back to Black Designer Series Paper for my flags. They are stapled to the Vellum with the Handheld Stapler. The stamped image is from the Bits and Pieces Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and adhered to the Vellum with SNAIL. I cut out a piece of Coastal Cabana with the Hello You Thinlits and used some 2-Way Glue to adhere it to the stamped image. Some more SNAIL adheres the Vellum to the card and a Basic Hodgepodge Clip finishes off the card. I like the randomness of the layout and the double use of the Vellum! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thank you so much for taking a little time to visit with me today! Have the best Friday ever! 🙂

Can You Case It 56

This is my second post for today! If you are looking for the Creation Station Tour post scroll down a bit!

CYCI Header

Hi there! Yes, this is post number 2 for today! My friend Eva asked me to be a guest designer on her challenge blog and I couldn’t say no! More on that in a minute. So yesterday I drove into Manhattan and parked in the garage, between the snow and construction there were no spaces to be had on the street! My friend Kim and I went and had breakfast at the diner, I had a Belgian waffle and some bacon, and then I walked down to my friend Isabella’s to drop off her Stampin’ Up! order. She wasn’t there so I left it in the entryway and then walked back up to my car. A nice walk, 60 blocks! It was a little bleak and overcast but I did take this picture of 69th Street on my way back…

69th Street

They did a better job of getting rid of the snow here than they did further uptown! I stopped at Starbucks and got a Venti soy no foam Vanilla Latte (my signature drink!) for the ride home which wasn’t too bad. I also snapped this picture of the bridge as I came across it, not too much traffic!

RFK Bridge

See how cloudy it was, not a very nice day and it was actually snowing at this point and continued to do so for a few hours. My friend Sue came by and picked me up for lunch and we headed over to the diner out here. I had a Greek panini which was sort of like a gyro and was pretty good. We stopped at AC Moore and then came back to my place for a while. It was so good to catch up with her and we will see each other again soon! I watched a few YouTube videos and then went overt to see Brian and Kim for a while. When I got back home I realized that I had forgotten to make my projects for the Creation Station Tour so I did those, wrote the post and finally got to bed around 2:00! A long but really great day!

Now back to the reason for today’s second post! This week’s challenge over at the Can You Case It blog is a color one just perfect for… well… Valentines!

CYCI 56

They are very forgiving at the blog too, you can use any product that you want and also like colors if you don’t have exact! I had the idea in my head for the card as soon as Eva asked me guest design, I just had to wait for a few supplies! As I have been doing a lot lately the card base is just a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. My background is a piece of Basic Black that I heat embossed the Something Lacy Background Stamp in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on. For the greeting I used the new Hello You and the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits to cut out some Real Red. I then heat embossed it with Simon Says Stamp Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder a few times. I heated the powder and then immediately put it back in the embossing powder and repeated the process a few times. They are adhered with 2-Way Glue to a heart that is cut from Vellum with the Hearts Collection Framelits. I used Clear Foam Tape to adhere the heart to the card and a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear and Red Sequins complete the card. I absolutely love the way the heat embossed words came out, they look like red shoelace licorice! I really hope that you enjoyed my second post and third card for today! Make sure that you stop by the Can You Case It blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have done with the colors and if you have some time make something and upload it to the gallery! Thank you so much for stopping by to hear about my day and see my card! I hope that you all have an incredible Sunday! 🙂

Fab Friday 57 & One Last Pic!

Oh yes, it’s Friday!! Woo hoo! Friday’s always make me happy!! I had a 2 1/2 hour meeting at work yesterday, that was fun! It also got a lot colder as the day went on and windy. We are supposed to be in the negative numbers tonight, thankfully I have my electric blanket that my friend Eva sent me! It’s like a warm hug every night! I puttered around in the Stampin’ Galley for a bit playing with some of my new goodies and then made a few phone calls. Not an overly exciting evening but they all can’t be right?! I have one last picture to share with you from Leadership. It was taken after it had ended and it’s of Me, Maggie, Robyn and Nicole…

Me, Maggie, Robyn & Nicole

LOVE them!! I think the only thing that I regret was getting on the plane to come back to NY! LOL! I so miss the warm weather!

So today I am over on the Fab Friday blog for our color challenge. We have been away for a bit but we’re back!! Here are the colors…

Fab Fri 57 2-05-2015

Those look like the colors of love to me! LOL! Yes, another Valentine! To start off today’s card I used a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and adhered a strip of paper form the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack down the right side. The background is a piece of Watercolor Paper, I used my Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Crisp Cantaloupe Ink to create the pretty gradient. The panel is then mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two more strips of the DSP are flagged and adhered along the bottom. The large Vellum heart is cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits. For the LOVE I used the Little Letters Thinlits and some Real Red. The you is cut out with the Hello You Thinlits and they are both adhered to the card with 2-Way Glue. A few strategically Stampin’ Dimensionals pieces adhere the heart to the background. Across the top are some hearts that I punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack from Calypso Coral and they too are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A little Wink Of Stella Clear Glitter Pen is brushed over all of the letters for a little sparkle. Yes, I know, I have made a lot of Valentine’s this year! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for the Fab Friday color challenge. Please take a minute to stop by the blog and see what the other designers have done and enter your card in the gallery! Thank you so much for sharing in my week of Leadership pictures! I hope that we all have a Fabulous Friday!! 🙂

Mojo 383 & More Pics!

What a Monday that was! It was raining in the morning and then got really cold so all of that froze and then it started snowing again! Hmm… me thinks that someone is trying to tell me to go back to Florida! LOL! I missed the first storm but we didn’t need another one to make up for it! LOL! My office had a delayed opening and I was all over the place. Learning some of the new stuff and taking care of some old stuff. We got out early too because of the snow and my usual 12 minute ride turned into a 40 minute fiasco. The person in the front of the line of cars refused to go over 5 miles an hour! I know it best to err on the side of caution but lets not be silly! When I got home I had some dinner and then spent the better part of the evening crafting the stress of the day away! Oh, I have some more pictures form Leadership to share with you so here we go!

This is the wonderful Claire from the Australian Home Office, I could listen to her speak all day!

Here are the lovely Lisa and I, such a sweet person!

My little bit of craft therapy last night yielded my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

I did a fun card with a pocket for a gift card on the front! My card today starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Basic Black. The strip of paper is from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack. I cut out the gift card holder with the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits from a piece of Vellum Card Stock and adhered it together and to the card with some Vellum Adhesive. The flags across the lower left are also pieces of paper from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the heart form the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits to cut out a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper to back the heart that I stamped in Real Red from the Groovy Love Stamp Set. It’s punched out with the Sweetheart Punch and they are both adhered to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is also from the Groovy Love Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut out with the Banners Framelits. A few dots of 2-Way Glue adhere it to the heart and complete the card. Yes, by far my two favorite things are heat embossing and Vellum, combine them and I’m in heaven! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Thank you so very much for taking some time to come by and share in my day! Here’s to a terrific Tuesday! 🙂
