Grammy’s 94th Birthday

Good morning all. The weekend is here! I hope you are all doing some fun stuff. I’m going to a Chinese New Year party later on tonight, that should be fun! This year marks my Grandmother’s 94th Birthday! She lives in Pennsylvania and I have fond memories of all of the time I spent there as a child. She loves flowers and had some of the nicest ones in her gardens that I have ever seen. There used to be poppies all along the fence. That’s what inspired the color combination for her card. I’m loving the new Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper in the Sale-A-Bration Catalog along with the Elementary Elegance Stamp Set where the sentiment and bird come from. You can get these items and many more for FREE with every $50 you spend form the Occasions Mini or Idea Book & Catalog. The beautiful flower is from the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set and is punched out with the Blossom Punch, both items can be found in the 2012 Occasions Mini. I stamped it in Poppy Parade and backed it with some Poppy Parade Card Stock punched out with the same punch. I have wanted to get the Family Reunion Stamp Set from the Idea Book & Catalog for a while and I’m glad that I did. It’s nice to be able to put Grandma on the card along with Happy Birthday. I punched it out with the Oval Punch and mounted it on Poppy Parade Card Stock punched out with the Scalloped Oval Punch. The frame around the sentiment was a great tip from Mary Fish (www.stampinpretty.com). I cut out the label with the Framelits Label Collection Dies and then used the Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder that fits perfectly inside the label. It gives it great detail and was super easy. A little bit of 1/2″ Stitched Poly Ribbon in Poppy Parade (thanks Nina Dee!) across the top of the Very Vanilla Card Stock that was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder give a nice separation from the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper. I love the way the card came out and hope you enjoyed it too. Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Send Me Soaring Birthday

Hello everyone. It’s Friday!! I hope that everybody had a good week and is all ready for the weekend. Today’s card is a birthday card for my brother. His birthday is Sunday but I know that he already got the card. Masculine birthday cards can be a little challenging. I try to keep the flowery stuff off the card but still make it fun. The Send Me Soaring Stamp Set in the Occasions Mini is great for all kinds of cards. I used some Baja Breeze Card Stock for the background. The clouds were stamped in Not Quite Navy Ink and the I used an eyeshadow applicator to color them in with some Whisper White Craft Ink. The kites are stamped in More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Not Quite Navy. I cut them out and then used some thin string for the kite string. I hid the ends behind the sentiment which is from the Happiest Birthday Wishes Set. The Brother is from Family Reunion and both are stamped in Not Quite Navy. I think the card is masculine but still playful at the same time. I hope that like today’s card and thanks so much for stopping by!

Kim’s 30th 3D Birthday

My good friend Kim turned 30 on Friday. It is a milestone birthday when you are finally leaving your 20’s but she doesn’t look a day over 18! I wanted to make her a special card and my new favorite is the 3D Window. It takes a while to make one but boy are they worth it! I used some Wisteria Wonder, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla Smooth Card Stock. The stamp sets I used are Delightful Dozen, Happiest Birthday Wishes and Cupcake Builder sets. I used the Cupcake Builder punch for the cupcake and the Itty Bitty Shapes Pack for the Glimmer flowers and circle. The images were stamped in Wisteria Wonder and Chocolate Chip. For some nice texture I used my trusty Perfect Polkadot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The Tag Punch was used for… what else, the tag! I hope that you liked the card as much as Kim did. I wish her a very happy 30th year! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Sam’s Birthday

Yesterday was my friend Sam’s Birthday. She has finally left her 20’s and moved on into the next decade of her life. She is a dear friend and I have made a few cards for her. When I took out the envelope to give it to her yesterday she said “Oh, a homemade card!!”. When she opened it she said that she really liked it and the 3D window was cool. I used the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. Three sentiments from The Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set are perfect on the front. Inside I used the 1″ Square Punch from the Holiday Mini to punch out the window and then I Stamped the piece with Happy Birthday from Pretty Postage. I love the 3D window and will be making a few more cards using this technique. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Overseas Cards

A good friend of mine, Chantal, recently went on a trip to Paris to see her family. She asked me if I would make a bunch of cards for her to take with her to give to them. I of course was thrilled. I love it when people like my cards, especially enough to take them international! So here are the cards that I made for her. Thanks to Chantal for being such a great friend and supporter! Thanks to you guys for taking a look and have a nice day!

Happy Birthday Sandy!

Today is my super talented, all around awesome fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and good friend Sandy’s birthday! She is a super nice person and a great teacher. I had to make an extra special birthday card for her. I like the tri-shutter cards because they are different and look cool when you open them and stand them up. I tried to match it a little to the dresser I made for her as an early present. I used the Stampin’ Up! Pretty Postage Clear Mount Set and the Postage Punch as well as the Retired Birthday Bliss Wood Mount Set punched out with the Large Tag Punch for the greetings. They were stamped in Marina Mist and Early Espresso Classic Stampin’ Ink. I love the color combination. You can visit Sandy’s blog here:

Elegant Olive Birthday

I wanted to make a simple masculine birthday card tonight and this is what I came up with. I downloaded My Digital Studio Express today and was playing around with the stuff that it comes with. The background on the card is from the Designer Series Paper that is included. I printed it out on Whisper White Card Stock. I think it came out pretty true to color. I used the Delightful Dozen Clear Mount Set for the Greeting, stamped it in Elegant Eggplant and again in Old Olive and cut out one of the phrases and mounted it on Dimensionals. The candy phrase is from the Spooky Bing Bits Clear Mount Set, punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. The cupcake is from the Cupcake Builder Punch. I like the way it came out seeing as I had no idea where I was going with it when I started! Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

Izzy’s First Birthday!

One of my closest friends, Kim, asked me if I would make the invitations for her daughter’s first birthday party. I of course was more than happy to do it. She came to a Workshop that I had with my friend Melissa and ordered the items that she wanted me to use. Being that Izzy’s birthday falls near October 31st she decided to go with a Halloween theme. She said that it will probably get tired after a few years but I think it would be so cool that if every year for your birthday everyone got dressed up, don’t you?! So here is the card I came up with. I think it’s very Halloween without being super creepy. I love the spider, he has spiked hair! He is on a window that when you lift it up it say “eeek!” underneath. The card ingredients are below. Thanks for looking and have a spooky fun day!

Mojo 210

For this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge I decided to follow it as close to the letter as I could. I really like clean layout. I like the black, grey and  white together, I think it gives a very formal look. To make it a bit more on the fun side I stamped some birthday horns and the word celebrate in a fun font. I guess you would call it formal with a fun twist! I love playing a long each week and look forward to the next one. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Birthday Dresser

I know that my friend Sandy’s birthday is in October. I wanted to make her something special and a little different. I was looking around the SplitCoastStampers site the other day and I came across this really neat box with three drawers. I think it looks a to like a dresser. It’s perfect for hiding little surprises like chocolates. I have really been into blues and browns lately, I think it gives a nice rich clean look. The project was pretty straight forward and very easy to follow. It didn’t take long at all and I think the end result is great. Sandy really seemed to like it and I was very happy that she did. I used the Stampin’ Up! sets Happiest Birthday Wishes and the Retired Birthday Bliss. The paper is Marina Mist as well as the ink. I had to go out and get some 12 x 12 paper to do the project, I’ll have to order some from Stampin’ Up! next time. I also used the Scallop Trim Border Punch for the “runner” on the top. The knobs were made from tiny wooden Thread spools that I had and some Rhinestones for a little bling. Thanks for taking a look.
