Sale-A-Bration Workshop

Good Thursday morning to everyone! One more day until the weekend! A wonderful friend of mine, Isabella, hosted a Workshop at her beautiful apartment in Manhattan yesterday. She had eight of her friends join us for a fun filled afternoon of card making. We made three cards, a Valentine’s Day card, a mini Valentine’s Day card and a Birthday gift tag. The Valentine’s Day card uses Pretty In Pink and Whisper White Card Stock and some Riding Hood Red Ink. The cupid is from the P.S. I Love You Stamp Set and was punched out using the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and then it was backed by the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle and popped up on some Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing folder makes for a fun backdrop and we used the Scallop Edge Punch for a little added detail. The little hearts are from the Candy Conversations Wood Mount Stamp and they were punched out using the Small Heart Punch. I find that using the Word Window Punch to punch out your sentiment makes lining it up a little easier and it fits perfectly on the Modern Label Punch.

For the mini Valentine’s Card we used some Naturals White and Riding Hood Red Card Stock with some Elegant Eggplant Ink. I love the way the Petal Card Punch looks like a tiny envelope if you leave one of the flaps open. The hearts are from the I {Heart} Hearts Stamp Set and they were also punched out using the Small Heart Punch. For the final touch, the sentiment is from the P.S. I Love You stamp Set.

Last but not least is the Birthday tag. A nice quick project using Lucky Limeade and Very Vanilla Card Stock, some Poppy Parade Ink and a small piece of the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration. The cute little birthday bear os from the Host(ess) Set Tagtastic. We used to the Decorative Label Punch to punch it out and it’s finished!

Everyone had a great time and it was so nice to meet everyone. I hope that we can do it again soon!

Valentine’s Mini Card Box

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope that everyone had a great weekend and is enjoying today. I’m listening to Winston, my dog snore sleeping on the bed. 🙂 For today’s project I was inspired by my good friend Sandy’s Valentine’s box post earlier in the week (www.stampwithsandy.com). She is so talented and clever and the set that she designed is beautiful. Mine is a little less complicated and would work great for some Valentine’s for the kids. I used some Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla Card Stock, sounds like such a yummy combination! The box was made using Sandy’s tutorial with the Simply Scored. The top has a piece of Very Vanilla that I ran through the Big Shot using the Texturz Plates Backgrounds 1. I’m really liking these for the subtle effect that they produce. The stamped heart is from the Take It To Heart Set in the Occasions Mini and was cut out using the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and mounted on a Chocolate Chip heart cut out the same way. The sentiment was punched out with the Word Window Punch and backed by another stamp from the P.S. I Love You set and then punched out with the Modern Label Punch. For the cards inside use stamps also from the P.S. I Love You set and were punched out with the 1 3/8″ and 1″ Circle Punches and popped up on a Stampin’ Dimensional. I ran some Cherry Cobbler through the Big Shot with the hearts from the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders. The Chocolate Chip heart was punched out with the Heart To Heart Punch. Some Mini Square Envelopes complete the project. Thanks for coming by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Easy Sending Love x 2

Morning everyone! I hope that everyone has had a good week. It’s Friday!! Today’s card was inspired by a very good friend of mine, Chantal. She got an early peek at the new Sale-A-Bration Catalog and saw this card. I told her what was used to make it and she placed her order. I took it over to her the other night and we sat down and made one. I didn’t really like the card when I saw it in the catalog. After we made it though I decided that I really do like it. It’s a very simple but really nice card. I liked it so much that a made a mini 3 x 3 version of it too. The card uses the Easy Events Stamp Set. It’s a great set to have as it comes with eight stamps for various occasions. I stamped it on to Very Vanilla Card Stock in Chocolate Chip Ink. I then stamped the image again on another piece of card stock. I used a Q-tip and some Lucky Limeade Ink to color in the top of the tree and the grass. Stampin’ Up!’s Paper Snips work great for detailed cutting and after I cut out the top of the tree it was place on the main image with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. The hearts were markered on the stamp and stamped randomly on the card. They were then colored in and the marker was also used to draw over the word love. A small strip of Real Red Card Stock was adhered to the bottom for a finishing touch. Chantal is going to make them to send out for her Valentine’s Cards. She has become quite the little crafter! Thanks for stopping by and have a great Friday!

Abby’s First Birthday

I love making invitations. When my friends Adam and Erin asked me if I would make the invitations for their little girl Abbygail’s first birthday I was thrilled to. They picked out the colors and told me it was a Bubble Guppies theme. The Card Stock colors I used are Pretty In Pink, Pacific Point and Whisper White. I used My Digital Studio to create the printed part of the invite and printed it in Pacific Point on HP Everyday Photo Paper. I have tried printing things out on Whisper White Card Stock and it comes out a little lighter than it should but the HP Paper seems to work a little better. The goldfish are from the Something Sweet Set and they are stamped in Pumpkin Pie. The “bubbles” are actually the sprinkles from the Create A Cupcake set, but they look pretty good as bubbles. The Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder give it a nice simple background. I mounted all of the framed pieces with Stampin’ Dimensionals for a little extra pop. I hope you like them as much as they did and thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Window Bonsai

It was my friend Kim Doi’s Birthday at the end of November. She is one of the greatest friends that anyone could ask for. She is an avid photographer so I always like to incorporate one of her beautiful pictures into her cards. I needed a way to make a window on a card and I found that Sizzix has a movers and shapers window die that I could use with my Stampin’ Up! Magnetic Movers and Shapers Die. I used some Always Artichoke, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla Smooth Card Stock. The greeting is from Petite Pairs and is inked with Soft Suede. I used the marker to stamp technique on the bonsai tree from the Plant Hope set. It’s markered with Soft Suede, Always Artichoke and Basic Black. She loved the card and it was the perfect way to start our tour of the Midwest! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Kim’s 30th 3D Birthday

My good friend Kim turned 30 on Friday. It is a milestone birthday when you are finally leaving your 20’s but she doesn’t look a day over 18! I wanted to make her a special card and my new favorite is the 3D Window. It takes a while to make one but boy are they worth it! I used some Wisteria Wonder, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla Smooth Card Stock. The stamp sets I used are Delightful Dozen, Happiest Birthday Wishes and Cupcake Builder sets. I used the Cupcake Builder punch for the cupcake and the Itty Bitty Shapes Pack for the Glimmer flowers and circle. The images were stamped in Wisteria Wonder and Chocolate Chip. For some nice texture I used my trusty Perfect Polkadot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The Tag Punch was used for… what else, the tag! I hope that you liked the card as much as Kim did. I wish her a very happy 30th year! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Merry & Type Pop-Up Gift Card Holder

A few weeks ago my friend Kim asked me if I would make a gift card holder for her to give to her dad for Christmas. I had found a tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers for one and decided to give it a try. The tutorial, which can be found here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/pop-upgiftcardholder was originally done with Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Series Paper but I decided to use some Letter to Santa Designer Series Paper because it has a bit more of a manly feel to it. I also used the Merry & Type Stamp Set on the front of the card. I love the way it came out and I wish I had put a gift card in it so you could see the holder a little better. Kim liked it so I was happy. I love it when my friends ask me to make things for them. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

The Arch

As promised, here are some pictures from the top of the St. Louis Arch. Luckily it was a pretty clear day and we didn’t have to wait at all to get to the top. You ride up in this little tiny bubble to the top. If you are claustrophobic it’s definitely not for you! The view is amazing and you are 630 feet up in air at the top. I am having a great time with the Doi sisters but looking forward to getting back to my crafting desk! Have a great day!

Butterfly Plaid Christmas

Sorry for my lack of posts of late, I’m away with a friend of mine visiting her family. We drove from Kansas City, MO to St. Louis, MO with her sister today. So, I am posting this tonight from the lovely city of St. Louis! This holiday card has my mother’s favorite embellishment on it… butterflies. I used the Beautiful Wings Embosslit to cut some butterflies out in Cherry Cobbler card stock. I thought that the Garden Green in the plaid from the Frostwood Lodge Designer series pack makes for a nice background and the Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Border Punch added a nice line to the middle. The sentiment is from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set. I hope you enjoy the card and thanks for stopping by!

Gently Falling Birthday

Hello everyone, I hope that you are all having a nice day. It’s very rainy here in New York a perfect day to sit and make some cards! I actually made this card for a friends birthday on Saturday. I love the Gently Falling Stamp Set. My good friend and super talented fellow Stamper Sandy lent it to me. After I used it a few times I decided that I had to have it! I think it makes for a nice masculine birthday card. The Card Stock I used is More Mustard and Cajun Craze. I stamped the leaves and “helicopter” in Basic Black and the stamped them in Cajun Craze, More Mustard and Early Espresso on Very Vanilla Card Stock. The happy birthday is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I hope that you like the card and that you have a lovely evening. As always, thanks for stopping by!
