It was another nice frigid day here yesterday in New York getting us prepared for all the snow we’re supposed to get tonight. They’re saying anywhere from 3 to 10 inches of snow again and I say this better be the last one! LOL! Remember my friend Danielle came over recently and made up a Valentine’s Day card for her boyfriend. Well, not to be outdone, her sister, Stephanie, came over last night to make one for her boyfriend. She asked for a little guidance but she worked mostly on her own. Here is what she came up with…
Pretty good for a first try! She said that Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder reminded her of tire tracks.
It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This is what we have for you this week…
My inspiration for my card comes from the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. My card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. The background is a piece of Smoky Slate that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Some Gold Foil Sheet is punched out with the Triangle Punch and adhered down the left side of the card. I used the Starburst Framelits Dies to cut out a piece of Bermuda Bay that serves as a backing for my “love” which is cut out from more Gold Foil Sheet using the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits Dies. Two flagged pieces of the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper peek out from behind the Starburst on the right side. I find the color combination to be a little bold but I do like the gold accents. I also realized after that I made the card, there isn’t a single stamp on the card! I hope that you have enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Remember to head over to the blog to see what the other Design Team members have done with the sketch, and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take as well! As always, I appreciate your visit. I’m off to Brooklyn later on tonight to see Andrew perform with Satellite Lane. Hopefully the snow will wait to start until we come home! Have a happy Hump Day! 🙂

Wow! Danielle’s sister (I didn’t see her name above) really rocked it! Yes, I can see tires tracks also. Another possible customer? I wasn’t a fan of the Expressions Thinlits when they were available. You make the ‘Love’ shine on top of the Starburst Framelit. Nice card all around. Still dealing with sub zero temps. This morning -15 but no snow. May get up to 32 by the end of the week. Woo Hoo ! Where are my shorts.
Thank you Lisa! I updated the post to say that her name is Stephanie. I love it when my friends come over and get to see what my obsession is all about! LOL! I do love the Expressions Thinlits! It’s not quite sub-zero here but we still have all of the snow from the last three storms! 32?!?! Lucky!! LOL! Enjoy your day! 🙂
Hi there Justin! How fun for Stephanie to be mentored by the great Justin?? 😉 She did a great job on the, I love the colors! I love the layout of your card and the use of gold over silver! Very nice! Hope you don’t get all that snow they are predicting! It’s been a long, cold winter hasn’t it? Maybe we’ll all enjoy the fresh green grass and birds singing once Spring gets here! Have a great day!
Hello Karen!
LOL! She said that she had fun! She did do a nice job! I hope we don’t get all of the snow too! I’m so sick of it! LOL! I will definitely enjoy the spring once it arrives! I hope you have a lovely day! 🙂
Looks like you and Stephanie had some fun. She did a great job, her beau will love it. Your card took on a life of it’s own with that fabulous gold foil paper. Such a super way to pop a card up a level. Don’t feel alone Justin – we are going to get at least a foot out of the storm starting tonight. Even I, the Snow Queen, have had enough this year
Yes Grace we did! Danielle was there too to cheer her on! I wasn’t quite sure about my card, but it’s growing on me! I know that there are many others that are in the same boat as me! I think we have all had enough!! 🙂
Cute card ,Stephanie ! I like your card too Justin and sometimes I like a card without a stamped image and your thinlit fills the bill. Well, as usual I encourage you pitiful “Over Snoweds” to head south but,we have had snow here in N.C. since last night . And we are so over it !!! Lots of birds though ! I am filling up the feeders twice a day !!
Yeah Sonny! I’ll let Stephanie know! It was funny, I didn’t realize that I didn’t use a stamp on my card until it was done! I would head south in a minute but it looks like I would have to go pretty far south! At least you have the birds!! 🙂
Stephanie’s card is fantastic for her first!! She chose a great combo of hearts and I never saw the tire tracks from that TIEF until you pointed them out!!! Now I can’t NOT see them LOL!!! 😉 Your “stampless” card is fabulous Justin!!!!
I’ve almost forgotten what green grass looks like!! Spring, come quickly!! Until then, be safe & stay warm!!!!! 🙂
Thanks Laurie! She is a pretty good job! I’ll let her know! Glad you enjoyed my card too! I know exactly what you mean about the grass! Sooner rather than later!! Have an awesome day! 🙂
