Paper Players 195 & a Few Extras!

Happy Monday! Yes, happy because yesterday was such an amazingly gorgeous day here on Long Island. I mean perfect temperatures, in the low 70’s and the sun was shining, there was even a slight breeze. Just complete bliss! I went and met my friend Joe for breakfast. He is in town from Los Angeles for a bit. We went to the diner and then came back to my house and caught up. It was good to see him, it’s been over a year. He is here for a little bit longer so I hope to see him again before he goes back. After I went for a nice ride in the convertible and I did manage to craft for a bit and watched a little TV too. All in all an almost perfect day! Also, thank you all so much for your wonderful comments on both cards from yesterday’s post. I really appreciate you taking the time to write and I know that Andrew does too! I hope that your Sunday was just as amazing!

If you scroll to the bottom of the post you will see the cards that I made for my friend Danielle. They are all duplicates of ones I have made before. One is a recent one and the other two are from a long time ago. 🙂

Monday, yes, that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my talented friend Sandy has given us a color challenge with a great inspiration picture…

Paper Players #195

Today’s card is sort of a toned down collage card. I used only two stamp sets! I’m just as shocked as you are! LOL! The base is So Saffron Card Stock and I stamped the images from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set in So Saffron right on the base. A piece of Gold Foil Sheet cut out with the On Film Framelits is adhered to the base to frame a piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper that I punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. I stamped the image in the circle in Calypso Coral from the same set and punched it out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, it serves as the anchor for the rest of the goodies. The flowers are also from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set, I heat embossed them with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Calypso Coral and then cut them out with my Paper Snips. Some Pear Pizzaz cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit are tucked behind them. My greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is stamped in Pear Pizzaz. I cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits and also a piece of Gold Foil Sheet to back it. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. I think it’s a fun eclectic card and I love the gold accents, they go so nicely with the So Saffron and Calypso Coral. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy. I so appreciate you coming and spending some time with me. I hope that you all have a great Monday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 203 & Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you wonderful mothers out there! Where would we be without you? In big trouble and if the truth be told not here at all! I do have a Mother’s Day card for you today but it’s not mine. I had a very nice relaxing day yesterday. I got my haircut and then crafted for a bit. I watched some TV and then Andrew stopped by to make his mom a Mother’s Day card. I think he did a great job! He used the Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers and even did some fussy cutting! I have the pictures to prove it too! Here he is coloring…

Andrew Coloring

And here he is fussy cutting…

Andrew Fussy Cutting

The funny thing is I asked him if he wanted a stamp that had a Framelit and he said yes. After he cut them out he didn’t like the white around the flower so he ended up cutting them out anyway. He did an awesome job coloring and cutting. He did some heat embossing too. And here is the card that he made for his mom…

Andrew MD 2014-WM

I think he did a great job! I’m sure that she will love it! And the flowers are just amazing! You’ll have to let us know what you think! 🙂

Now off to my card which is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 203

When I see theses colors I think of fall but I decided that if your mom liked the colors my card might even make a good Mother’s Day card! LOL! I needed a collage style card. There are a lot of goodies on it so be warned! The base of the card is Cajun Craze Card Stock. I adhered one of the Tea Lace paper Doilies in the right corner for a little background. Next up is a piece of Very Vanilla that I cut the top edge of with the File Tabs Edgelits Dies. I stamped the greeting from the Countless Sayings 1 & 2 Photopolymer Stamp Sets in Night of Navy. In the lower right is a piece of Night of Navy that I cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and then trimmed some of it away. The angled strip of Cajun Craze is embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and on top of it are two tickets from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set. They are stamped in Night of Navy and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. Above that is a piece of Night of Navy that I cut out with one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies. The xoxo is from the same and is cut out from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. My tag is a piece of Night of Navy that I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder on. I also Paper-Pierced around the edge with the Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack*. A piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon tied with some White Bakers Twine goes through the top. My flowers are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are stamped in Cajun Craze on Cajun Craze. I used the Gold Stampin’ Dazzle Marker to make the centers. Last up is a Regals Designer Button adhered with the new Fast Fix Adhesive. Like I said there is a lot but I think that it all works quite well together. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge and also Andrew’s Mother’s Day Card. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope that you all have a great Sunday and a wonderful Mother’s Day! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 135

That was a very good Friday! I got to go on my 50+ mile field trip and enjoyed it thoroughly even though it was gloomy. I got a lot accomplished at the office too, a very productive day. Anthony, Bill and I went to Friday’s for dinner and we waited to sit with our favorite waitress Meg. Since it’s Mother’s Day weekend they had a special, 1/2 price bottles of wine so we thought why not! We had the Cupcake Pinot Noir, delicious! After dinner we ran to Target because Anthony needed some stuff. I picked up some Watermelon Oreos and Birthday Cake M&M’s. We tried the M&M’s and they are quite yummy! I’ll let you know about the Watermelon Oreos! How was your Friday? I hope that it was just as good as mine! I also have an extra card for you today so be sure to scroll down after you see today’s post!

The post that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch this week is brought to us by the talented Narelle…

Freshly Made Sketches #135

A neat layout that would work for any kind of card. I decided that I would do a masculine birthday card. You can never have too many cards on hand ready to go right?! I also wanted to combine a new favorite with some old ones. My card starts off with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock and the background is a piece of Summer Starfruit that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My panel is a piece of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper that is backed with some Island Indigo and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. That great suitcase is from the Traveler Stamp Set* and is stamped in Early Espresso, I cut it out with my Paper Snips and adhered the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. My greeting comes from the Four You Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. Tucked under it are three flags that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. The detail in the stamps from the Traveler Set is quite amazing as you can see in the closeup picture and I will miss Summer Starfruit and the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper. But there will be plenty of new stuff to play with and I will get to make new favorites! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I’m always happy to share some of my day with you! Make sure that you do something fun and have a great Saturday! 🙂

Fab Friday 41

I know, you hear it every week, but I never tire of it! It’s FRIDAY people! The work week is coming to close and we are heading in to the weekend! It was a rainy overcast and slightly chill day here. They said rain all day but fortunately it was just overcast and damp. Work was productive and tomorrow I get to go on a field trip again! Love field trips! I came home last night and made some cards and watched some HGTV. Tonight I’m going to dinner with my buddies Anthony and Bill. I’ll see if Andrew feels like tagging along too. Not a lot planned for the weekend, that can be a good thing. We’ll play it by ear.

Today I’m over on the Fab Friday blog for the sketch challenge…

Fab Fri 41 Sketch 5-09-2014

There is that word bubble again! I’m going to admit that I’m slightly addicted to my E-Cutter. As soon as I saw the word bubble I knew it was going to be cut out with it. I also cut some stars out of the bubble with the Large Star Digital Punch and some extra ones to sprinkle around the card. My card base is one of the new 2014-2016 In-Colors called Lost Lagoon*. I LOVE this color! It’s a bluish green with some gray thrown in, nice and subtle but rich don’t you think? For my square I used a piece of the Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. Next up is my word bubble that I cut out with my E-Cutter with the Word Bubbles Punches Digital Download from a piece of So Saffron. The greeting is from the Something to Say Stamp Set and is stamped in Lost Lagoon*. To the right of that is a star from the Simply Stars Stamp Set, stamped in So Saffron and cut out with my Paper Snips. The larger small stars are punched out from So Saffron with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack*. They and the bubble and large star are all adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Don’t you think that the new Lost Lagoon* and So Saffron look great together?! I really am loving the new In-Colors, especially this one. There it is, my Design Team card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge. Pay a visit to the blog to see what the other design team members have for inspiration for you and give the sketch a try and upload your card to the gallery. I thank you for spending some time with me today and I wish all of you a Fab Friday! 🙂

Mojo 344

It was another beautiful day here in New York! Finally, we are getting the spring-like weather that we have waited so long for! We are supposed to get some rain tonight and tomorrow morning, but then the sun will be out again. Work was quiet again today, just how I like it. I stopped by last night and met Heather and we took the munchkins out shopping and then went back and hung out with Kim for a little while. And the evening was finished off with a visit from my favorite singer, Andrew. Pretty good day, wouldn’t you say?

The post that I have for you today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Julee Tilman has provided us with an unusual sketch…

Mojo344

I stayed very true to this sketch, I even used a grid on my background! The base of the card is Night of Navy Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Etcetera Designer Series Paper Pack. My diamond shape is a piece of Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock that I embossed with the “Vintage” Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The tag is created with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and is stamped in Night of Navy with the steamship from the Traveler Stamp Set*. A piece of Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine is tied in a bow through the top of the tag. The stamp on the flag is a very “Vintage” one and it is from the Travel Log Stamp Set and is also stamped in Night of Navy. I slipped a toothpick behind the tag and flag that are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love all the detail in the ship image and I thought the “Adventure” stamp, even though it’s really old, went well with it. I hope you enjoyed my “Vintage” card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope your Thursday is a great one! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 92

Hello Wednesday! How nice to see you again! We are halfway there peeps! Yesterday was another nice day weather wise and a calm day work wise. A pretty good day all around. My friend Danielle needed two mother’s day cards and a birthday card so I came home and made them last night. One of them was the Stippled Blossoms card from the Creation Station blog tour and the other two are throwbacks from a while ago. I’ll post them later in the week. I’m so glad that I keep my stamp sets, never know when I will have to pull one out of the archives!

Wednesday means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS092 Sketch 5-07-2014

I was going through one of my many craft drawers the other day and I came across the fun stamp that I used on today’s card. I got it at Convention last year. It’s an original Shannon West creation! My card base is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. On the bottom half is a piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper. I used some of the new Fast Fix Adhesive to adhere some 5/8″ Crochet Trim, pleating it as I went across. The greeting, which I mentioned before, is stamped in Calypso Coral on Very Vanilla and backed with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. The flower in the top left is Calypso Coral cut out with the Blossom Party Originals Die. In the middle is a Neutrals Designer Button. The flowers in the lower right are also Calypso Coral punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. Some Basic Jewels Pearls are in the middles and also along the side of the main panel. The neat little bird is from the Nature’s Hello Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip and cut out with the Backyard Basics Stamp Set. A pretty cool layout with a little bit of a vintage feel to it. And there is my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. Be sure and stop by the blog to see the other designer’s creations and add your one to the gallery so we can take a peek at yours! I always appreciate your stopping by and I hope that you all have a very nice Wednesday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 96

Hello peeps! How was your Monday? Mine was not too bad. My boss came into work today and told us that she feel off of her bicycle three times yesterday. She has a huge orange size lump on the back of her leg and she is a very tiny person so it’s a big lump. My co-worker Nicole and her are doing a 75 mile ride out to Montauk in a few months. They both got those pedals that you wear the special shoes for and “click” in and out of. When you are not used to them and you stop quick it’s hard to do. So basically your feet are attached to the pedals as you go over. Not good at all. I told her I would have given up after the first fall. I give them both a lot of credit, 75 miles is what cars are made for! LOL! The rest of my day was pretty routine, had dinner, came home and crafted a bit. It has become a necessity to craft so I can wind down and I’m quite happy that way!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for the Birds, Bees and Butterflies challenge. Just use one or more on your project, not a problem at all!

I needed to use my favorite little bird before he becomes “Vintage”, the one from Backyard Basics. The base of today’s card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I stamped the feather from another one of my favorites and soon to be “Vintage” sets, Fine Feathers in Crumb Cake down the right side. The panel is Whisper White and the top left corner of the panel and the card are rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder. My leaves are from the Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set and are stamped in Gumball Green. The flowers are from the new Something to Say* Stamp Set, stamped in Sahara Sand and are punched out with the new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack*. I added a Basic Jewel Pearl in the middle and a Mini Glue Dot to adhere them. The little bird, as I mentioned, is from the Backyard Basics Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers*. I told you that I colored a lot this weekend! My greeting is from the also soon to be “Vintage” Happy Watercolor Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black*. I adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and done! I can’t tell you enough how much I love the new Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for the SUO Challenges Birds, Bees and Butterflies challenge. Head on over to the blog to see the other projects from the design team and upload yours to the gallery to play along! Thanks for stopping by today to see my project. Have a great Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 194

Monday… that’s all I have to say about that! I hope that you all had a nice weekend. I definitely did! Saturday morning I did some sneaker stuff with Andrew, we had lunch and then he went home for a bit and I came home and finished up my projects for yesterday’s Creative Station post. Andrew came back later and we got some dinner and finished up my post. Yesterday I took it easy, I did some laundry and watched a few movies. A nice relaxing Sunday after a busy few days. So, did you all enjoy the first Creation Station Blog Tour yesterday?! I had so much fun making the projects and taking the pictures of the process. Thank you to all of you that visited! Time to get ready for the next one in two weeks, it will be here before you know it!

Monday and it’s time once again for the Paper Players challenge. This week the wonderful Jaydee has asked to celebrate Mother…

Paper Players #194

A very timely challenge seeing as Mother’s Day is next week! I have been coloring my little fingers off with the new Stampin’ Blendabilities*, they are so great that I used them on today’s card too! My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and I stamped an image from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Daffodil Delight, stamping off too. I ran the card through the Big Shot using the File Tabs Edgelits*. My greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry on the tab. To add a little interest I adhered a piece of paper from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack to the inside right of the card. My tag is created using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and I stamped it with the Very Vintage Jumbo Stampin’ Around Wheel in Sahara Sand. The flowers are from the Flower Shop Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink* and colored in with the Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers*. I used the Pansy Punch to punch them out and adhered them to the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The lovely butterfly is from the “Vintage” Best of Butterflies 25th Anniversary Stamp Set and is also stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black* and colored in with the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers*. He too is held in place with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Can you tell how much I am loving those Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers*?!?! I have been coloring the day away! LOL! I also am digging the File Tab Edgelits*, they add some nice interest to the card don’t you think? I hope that you enjoyed my take on this week’s challenge from Jaydee and the Paper Players. Thanks so much for taking some time to catch up with me, I really appreciate your visit and I hope that you have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

Creation Station Inaugural Post

creation station header

It has been a busy couple of days on the JK Cards blog! Friday I had four projects, yesterday I had two and today I have three! Today is the first post for a new design team called the Creation Station. We are here to give you lots of inspiration, so there will be plenty of photos. Every other Sunday we will focus on a few stamp sets and other items from the catalog giving you ideas on how to incorporate different items together in new and fun ways. I was honored when I was asked by Jen Arkfeld to participate and what fun it is to be with such a talented group of people. Feedback from you is very important, so be sure to let us know what you think! Let’s get started, shall we?

The first stamp set that we are focusing on today is the Stippled Blossoms Stamp Set. It’s a two step stamp set that gives you great shading details. My card begins with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and I stamped the Hardwood Background Stamp in Sahara Sand directly on it. Across the top is a thin piece of Gold Foil Sheet. The flowers from the stamp set are stamped in Strawberry Slush and Rose Red.

The Stamp-a-ma-jig make the two step stamping nice and easy. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive and Always Artichoke. They are all cut out with my Paper Snips.

Creation Station Card 3

To back them, I created a tag from Crumb Cake Card Stock using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. I stamped the flourish from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set in Old Olive and adhered the tag and flowers to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Label Something Stamp Set and in stamped in Old Olive, punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and it too is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I cut the card base to 4 inches wide so I could let the flowers hang off the side of the card, while still allowing the card to fit into a standard sized envelope. I really like the Hardwood Background with the florals, it gives the card a nice, outdoorsy feel.

On to the next card! The next stamp set we focused on is the Geometrical Stamp Set. I did a hybrid card using both the stamp set and the digital download with my E-Cutter. The card base is Strawberry Slush Card Stock. The panel is a piece of Bermuda Bay that I cut out with my E-Cutter and the Geometrical Digital Download.

Creation Station Card 6

I stamped the second part of the greeting in Basic Black from the Traditional Stamp Set.

Creation Station Card 7

Each of the cut out triangles is backed with a piece of the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. The triangles are stamped in Basic Black, Basic Gray and Crushed Curry and they are all punched out with the Triangle Punch. The panel and all of the triangles are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I think the sentiment and the triangles look really cool when they are cut out of the panel and the DSP behind the triangles is a fun way to tie in the colors of the card.

The last we are focusing on today are the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes. There is a neat accessory kit that you can buy to go with them, but I opted to do something a little different. After assembling the box, I stamped a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock with the Dictionary Background Stamp and scored it with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

Creation Station Box 10

I wrapped a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape and a piece of Crushed Curry 3/4″ Chevron Ribbon lengthwise around the card stock before adhering it to the acetate sleeve with the new Fast Fuse Adhesive. My flowers are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set, I stamped them in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them in using the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers.

Creation Station Box 11

The Secret Garden Framelits cut them out and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the ribbon. My greeting is from the Four You Stamp Set and is stamped, again, in Memento Tuxedo Black. I flagged the ends of the strip and adhered it to the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Basic Jewels Pearls in the centers of the flowers complete the box. I think the Dictionary Background Stamp is a perfect background canvas for a little box like this and I really love the way the flowers came out using the new Blendabilities Markers.

Double Header – Freshly Made Sketches 134 & Pals Paper Arts 202

Today was a very nice day! It was sunny and in the high 60’s and the best part was that I was out of the office for a good part of the day! I had to stop at WalMart on the way to work and pick up a TV stand. When I got to work I assembled it and did some other things before I headed to the Airport. I took one of the vans, the TV and stand didn’t fit in my car! I got to MacArthur around 11:45 and installed the TV in the exhibit space. One small problem was that there was no extension cord but the woman that I spoke to assured me that they would take card of that. I stopped home on the way back to get my boss a few cards that she needed. I got back to the office around 2:30 and then had to run out again to pick up some flowers. I got in my car and put the top down and had a nice ride! After work I had some dinner and came home and unpacked my pre-order, mounted my stamps and made a few projects. Like I said a very nice day!

Today I have a double post for you! Tomorrow I’m starting a new adventure with a few talented stampers, most of whom I’m sure you are familiar with. I wanted to get my Freshly Made Sketches and Pals Paper Arts cards posted before that so those are the two projects I have for you today. As a bonus they both use goodies from my pre-order! Let’s get to them, shall we?!

Up first is my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches and this week’s sketch is courtesy of the lovely Karren…

Freshly Made Sketches #134

The card base is Night of Navy Card Stock. My background consists of two pieces of paper from the Maritime Designer Series Paper Pack. All of the stamped images except for the greeting are from the Sea Street Stamp Set. The octopus is stamped in Coastal Cabana on Whisper White and backed with some Real Red that I cut out with the Circle Collection Framelits. The strip of flags is stamped in Night of Navy and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The two starfish are stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with my Paper Snips and also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Something to Say Stamp Set and is stamped in Night of Navy and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. To finish off the card I added some Brights Candy Dots to the banner of flags. A nice bright fun card with neat Designer Series Paper and a whimsical stamp set don’t you think?!

Next up is my project for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 202

I always do a card but since I had some new stuff to play with I thought I would do a 3D project instead. The box is created with the Hamburger Box Bigz XL Die cut from a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock. A quick run through the Big Shot and some folding and Sticky Strip and you have a neat little box! I used some Multi-Purpose Adhesive to attach the Tea Lace Paper Doily to the top. The onesie, socks and duck are from the Something for Baby Stamp Set, stamped in Bermuda Bay and Real Red, and cut out with the Baby’s First Framelits. My greeting is from the Baby We’ve Grown Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Starburst Framelits. All of the elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A fun and easy favor for a baby shower or a neat way to give a gift card to a new arrival! I wasn’t sure about the Hamburger Box but I’m really glad that I got it now!

And there are my projects for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches and Pals Paper Arts. I had a lot of fun playing with my new stuff and I hope that you enjoyed both the card and the box! I thank you, as always for coming by and I hope you all have a great Saturday! Don’t forget to come back tomorrow and see what new adventures await! 🙂
