Pals Paper Arts 146

Wee, it’s the weekend… boo, I still have no power. In all seriousness no power is a small problem compared to what so many other people are going through. My heart goes out to all those that have suffered a loss. We also have this great gas issue to deal with which is definitely not bringing out the best in people. I have none left so I’ll be in for the weekend. I stayed at my friend Louis’ last night so no cold nose this morning. He was nice enough to come and get me! Friends really are the best remedy for almost anything!

Today’s post is for Pals Paper Arts. This time we have a color challenge…

The color combination would be nice for so many things but I immediately thought holiday card. The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Riding Hood Red with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background and I tried something a little different, when I ran it through the Big Shot I did it on no tabs to give it a little more subtle look. All of the stamped images are from the Open Sleigh Stamp Set. I stamped the sleigh on a piece of Very Vanilla in Crumb Cake and then again in Riding Hood Red. Using my trusty Paper Snips, I cut out the red sleigh. The Merry Christmas is stamped in Riding Hood Red. I flagged the one end and used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and the Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce the 3 sides. The greeting and the phrase are stamped in Riding Hood Red and I used the Postage Stamp Punch to edge them. I mounted all of the elements to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals including the sleigh. I love the vintage look of the card and the simplicity makes it a great card to duplicate. I hope that you enjoyed my Pals Paper Arts card. Hopefully you are all warm and will have a good day! Thank you for visiting!

Freshly Made Sketches #59

A very good Friday morning to you! I am always a happy boy on Friday. We still have no power and it’s getting a little colder each night. Hopefully later on today when I get home all will be back to normal. Today’s post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. This week’s sketch is provided by Cindy…

Funnily enough at the beginning of the week I was thinking that I wanted to do something with the Postage Due Stamp Set, I even had the images stamped and Cindy must have read my mind! The base of my card is Old Olive, a color that I haven’t used in a while. I used a piece of Bravo Burgundy for my background panel and adhered a piece of Retired Very Vanilla 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon with a Round Designer Ribbon Slide to it before mounting it to the card with SNAIL. The Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is used on a piece of Old Olive to go across the middle of the card. The 2 cent images are from the Postage Due Stamp Set and are stamped in Bravo Burgundy and Old Olive and the 25 cent stamp image is from the Merry and Type Stamp Set and is stamped in Old Olive. They are all punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount them to the card. I really like the sketch and the one stamp makes this a great quick Christmas card. I hope that you enjoyed this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card and thank you very much for stopping by. Have an awesome Friday!

Create with Connie and Mary 225

Good morning! How are we all doing today? I’m doing ok. The no power and generator thing is getting old fast, but there are people out there a lot worse off than me so I guess I really shouldn’t complain. Sandy definitely left her mark here and it will be felt for a while I’m sure. Thank you to all of my readers for their concern. I really appreciate the comments! You guys rock!

It’s Thursday so it’s Create with Connie and Mary time! This week we have a nice simple sketch…

I changed it up just a little bit but most of the main elements are the same. The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I adhered a piece of Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper to the front so that it would be there for when I attached the top piece. A piece of Very Vanilla has the negative tree image cut out with the Holiday Collection Framelits Dies. I stamped the greeting in Cherry Cobbler from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals pop it up on the Cherry Cobbler base. A piece of Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is adhered around either side on the back with Sticky Strip. I used the Ticked Duo Builder Punch to punch out a piece of Gumball Green and adhered it to a pice of Cherry Cobbler that I used the small circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack to create the ticket corners on. Two Champagne Glimmer Paper trees punched out with the Merry Minis Punch Pack are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and give the card a little bling. It’s not a very complicated card to make and I am really liking the negative tree with the DSP behind it. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for Create with Connie and Mary this week. Thank you so much for spending some time with me today and enjoy the rest of your day!

While you are over at the Paper Craft Crew blog why not make a card and post it for this week’s challenge. This week we have a great sketch to celebrate our Grand Opening…

Lots of elements and room for interpretation. My card starts with a base of Always Artichoke Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Crumb Cake with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Across the bottom is a piece of Riding Hood Red that I stamped with the Good Cheer Builder Wheel in Riding Hood Red. A piece of retired Riding Hood Red Satin Ribbon goes across the middle. The image is from the Winter Memories Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and colored in with Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke,  Marina Mist, Rose Red, Perfect Plum, Crumb Cake, Pretty In Pink, Bashful Blue and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Markers. I cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies, turning it a second time to get the squared shaped. Some piercing with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool helps dress it up and it’s adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Merry Minis Stamp Set and the Merry Minis Punch Pack make the little banner stamped in Riding Hood Red and Always Artichoke. Some Whisper White Bakers Twine strings them together. The greeting is from the Winter Memories Stamp Set too and is stamped in Always Artichoke and underlined with the Always Artichoke Marker. I edged it with the marker to before I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The button is a Naturals Designer Button with a Whisper White Bakers Twine bow. I adhered it to the card with two stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the homey warm feel of the card, it makes all of the coloring worth it! I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for our Grand Opening! Don’t forget to leave your comments! You can visit the other designers by clicking on the list  in the sidebar. Mojo 265

Hello everyone! Not the best morning here on Long Island. The wind here was incredible. The fence in the yard blew down and so did the front gate, I couldn’t get in the back. So many trees down and we have had no power since 6:30 yesterday. Thank god for the generator! Hopefully the worst is over and that all of you in the area affected by the storm made it through ok.

Now on to happier things, before the power went out I made my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card. This week’s sketch is provided by Julee Tilman…

We won’t even address the round or square this week! I did a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 square card. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I used my Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce the edge of the larger and smaller pieces of Early Espresso. On top of the larger piece of Early Espresso we have a piece of Primrose Petals that I stamped in Primrose Petals with the Good Cheer Builder Wheel. I used the Scallop Trim Border and Scallop Trim Corner Punches to edge a square piece of Very Vanilla to place on top of that adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Next comes the smaller Early Espresso piece and another piece of Primrose Petals. The image is from the Scentsational Season Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso and cut out with the Holiday Collection Framelits Dies. The greeting is from the Mixed Medley Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. They are both adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I hope you enjoyed my multi-layered Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card. Thank you for checking in with me today and I hope that all of you affected by the storm weathered it well. Have a better day!

Paper Players #119

Ugh! Monday already! And we have Sandy the hurricane coming to make it even better. They have shut down almost everything in the city and on Long Island including mass transit. But the place that I work, that is open of course. I’m hoping that the storm isn’t as bad as they think it will be. I’ll let you know tomorrow, if we have power.

A little reminder that today Stampin’ Up1 is having their SALE! You get 15% off every single stamp set in the Annual and Holiday Catalogs. That includes all Single Stamp Sets, Background Stamps, Single Clear Mount Stamps and Single Wood Mount Stamps. If there were some stamps that have wanted now is the time to get them!

Now for today’s post that is for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week the lovely Nance has given us this cool sketch…

I stuck pretty much exactly to the sketch. The base of my card is Basic Black Card Stock. I inked up my En Français Background Stamp in Island Indigo and stamped it on Island Indigo Card Stock. The Etruscan Elegance Jumbo Wheel inked in Island Indigo creates the panel across the middle. I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch to edge the top and bottom before I adhered it to the card with SNAIL. A piece of Basic Black is flagged and then pierced using the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. I used the Bigz Circles #2 Die to cut out the piece of Linen Fabric that creates the base for my main image. A piece of Basic Black cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit is adhered to the Linen. I stamped the image from the Mixed Medley Host(ess) Stamp Set in Island Indigo and punched it out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. The greeting is stamped in Basic Black and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch and adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I really like the Island Indigo and the Basic Black together and the linen circle give the card a little unexpected extra. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Player Challenge. Thanks so much for checking in with me today and stay safe!

Mitten Tulips Thanks CASE

Is it Sunday already? Wow, yesterday just flew by! I had a nice time in the city and then I went to visit my friend Sandy and we crafted for a bit. I always have fun crafting with Sandy! Today’s post is a Thank You card that I made a little while ago for my friends Danielle and Anthony. I CASE’d the card from Stampin’ Success. They have some really neat ideas in there! The base of the card is Very Vanilla Card Stock cut to 5 1/2 x 7 and folded in half to make it note card size. I stamped the border along the bottom from the Make a Mitten Stamp Set in Gumball Green. The “tulips” are stamped from the same set in Primrose Petals and punched out with the Mitten Builder Punch. The strip of hearts is embossed with the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder using some Summer Starfruit. I cut thin strips of Gumball Green for the Stems and the leaves are the thumbs from the Mitten Builder Punch too. The greeting is from the Wacky Wishes Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals. I really like the idea of using the Mitten Builder Punch to make the tulips, so clever. I hope that you liked today’s thank you card and thank you so much for coming by today. Have a great Sunday everyone! 🙂

Fab Friday 05

Hello and a good Saturday morning to you! I hope that everyone had a good week. What are you up to for the weekend? I’m off to Manhattan today to see my friend Kim and go to a Halloween party later on tonight. It should be a lot of fun! Today’s post is for Fab Friday. This time we have a simple sketch…

Nice clean and simple. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I took a piece of the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack and pierced around the edge with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool for my background. The flagged piece is Cherry Cobbler that I stamped with my Timber Standard Stampin’ Around Wheel in Cherry Cobbler. The image is from the Wonderful Winterland Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black. I colored in the image with Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Markers. The Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack was used to pierce around the edge of the circle that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. I mounted it with Stampin’ Dimensionals to a piece of Crumb Cake that I cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit Die. The greeting is from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and is markered and stamped in Cherry Cobbler. I really like the simplicity of the card. I hope that you enjoyed my Fab Friday card and that you have an excellent Saturday. Thank you for stopping by! 🙂

Today’s post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. I want to thank Linda for choosing me as her Perfect Prince for last week’s card. You can see the original post here and view the Freshly Made Sketches winners here. This week we have a first time sketch from Narelle…

Wow! What a great sketch! You did really well Narelle! This was one of those ones where as soon as I saw it I knew what I was going to use, I love when that happens! The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I inked up my Woodgrain Background stamp with some Sahara Sand and stamped it on Sahara Sand Card Stock. I really like the tone on tone look especially with the Woodgrain Stamp. The panel of patterned paper is from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. I backed it with some Cherry Cobbler and mounted it to the card with SNAIL. The greeting and the image are both from the Winter Memories Stamp Set. The are both stamped on Very Vanilla, the greeting in Cherry Cobbler and the image in Basic Black. I flagged the ends of the greeting and used a small piece of paper from the Festival of Prints DSP Stack above it. The image is colored in with Basic Gray, Basic Black, Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Markers. I cut it out with my Paper Snips and mounted it with Stampin’ Dimensionals to a piece of Sahara Sand that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch and embossed with the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It is mounted to a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I cut out with the Perfect Pennants Bigz L Die. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it to the card. For the final touch I added some Basic Jewels Pearls in the upper right hand corner. I think this is one of my recent favorites for sure! I hope that you enjoyed this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card. Have an amazing day and don’t forget to scroll down and take a look at the Single Stamps that are available, including three brand new images! 🙂

Create with Connie and Mary 224 Color Challenge

Yeah! Today is Create with Connie and Mary day which means it must be Thursday! Only one more day to go until FRIDAY! How are we all doing? Things are good on my end, no complaints. So, this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge is a color challenge…

I was a happy boy when I saw that it included one of my favorite colors, Island Indigo! My card starts off with just that, a base of Island Indigo Card Stock. The background is a piece of Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper. I stamped the Daffodil Delight flagged piece with the Netting Background Stamp in Daffodil Delight. The Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch is used to make the edges with Island Indigo. The completed flagged piece is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. The image is from the Friendship Preserves Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and again in Lucky Limeade. I used the Window Frames Framelits Dies to cut each one out. I cut off the top and bottom of the Island Indigo one and then  mounted it to the Lucky Limeade piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Sticky Strip holds the piece of Island Indigo 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon behind the stamped piece and I used some more Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount it to the card. This would be a great quick and easy card to make for a thank you or even a birthday. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer Card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. Before I go I wanted to mention that Connie and Mary have a new subscription called Card “Create”tions. Scroll down past my card and see what this three week subscription has to offer. Thank for stopping by and visiting with me today. I hope that you all have a great Thursday!
