Mojo 237

Hello everyone! I hope that you all had a nice Monday. The weather here on Long Island was beautiful yesterday. It was just warm enough, in the upper 70’s. I love the warmer weather! Today’s card is my Mojo Monday card for this week. Mary Fish did the sketch this week and I really like it…

I guess I was inspired by the warm weather to do a nice bright card. I started with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. Across the top of the card I used a piece of the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper (Pre-Order). The paper actually inspired the flowers across the middle of the card. They are all punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle punch for the outside and the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack circle for the middle ones. The colors are Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade. The are mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals on a frame of Whisper White and Real Red. The leaves are created with the 5 teal Flower Punch, all you do is cut two petals off and you have some leaves! The bottom half of the card is Island Indigo. I stamped the greeting in Real Red from the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set. It has become one of my go-to sets because you can make all different combinations the from the words. The flagged ends are made using the 1″ Square Punch and it too is mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I am loving the card and hope that you like it too and are inspired to make something bright and cheerful! Thanks so much for coming by and enjoy your day!

Paper Players #91

Good morning everyone and happy Monday to you! If I keep saying that maybe I’ll believe it! I hope that you all had a nice weekend, I know I did! I got a lot accomplished and got to see some of my peeps! Today’s card is for this weeks Paper Players Challenge. This week they have given us this…

Clean and simple with watercoloring. Anytime that I only use three items to make a card it is definitely simple. As those of you that read these posts daily it’s not unusual for me to have 10 or more items listed in the supplies! I also used the 2010-2012 In-Colors that are retiring. I started off with a base of Concord Crush and to that I added a piece of Pear Pizzaz that I ran through my trusty Big Shot with the Perfect Details Texturz Plate. For the main image on the card I stamped the flower from the Creative Elements Stamp Set in Jet Black Staz-on Ink on Watercolor Paper three times. I used my Aqua Painter and Poppy Parade Ink to watercolor in the flowers and then did some serious fussy cutting with my Paper Snips and cut them out in varying sizes so I would be able to layer them. Watercolor Paper is a bit thicker than standard card stock so it is definitely a workout for your hand when you cut things out of it! I used a couple of Mini Glue Dots to adhere it to the card and then Stampin Dimensionals for the two layers. The rest of the elements on the card are also from the Creative Elements Set and are stamped in Concord Crush. They too are cut out with my Paper Snip and mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For a little more pop I edged the greeting with the Poppy Parade Stamp Pad. Creative Elements is one of my favorite sets and I’m happy to report that it will be in the new catalog! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and thank you so much for stopping by!

Riding Hood Grey Corner Catcher

Good morning everyone! I hope that you all had a nice Saturday. I had a great day yesterday. I saw some dear friends that I haven’t seen in a while and went down to China Town with my friend Kim. It was beautiful in Manhattan yesterday and we also got to walk through Central Park. I’m so glad that the warmer weather is on it’s way, hopefully for good this time! Now on today’s card, but before I get to that one small piece of business to take care of. Stampin’ Up! released their Retired Stamp Sets List today. It’s not as bad as I thought it was going to be! Some of my favorites are staying like French Foliage and Creative Elements. I will be sad to see Fox & Friends and Young Vermillion go but they make way for a bounty of new sets to let us unleash a new chapter of our creativity!  To see a the list of Retired Stamp Sets CLICK HERE.

Now on to today’s card. The Corner Catcher was featured in last month’s Stampin’ Success Magazine and I love them. Mary Fish had a great idea to make a card with one on the corner and here is one of my takes on her idea. I started with a base of Real Red and added a background stamped in Real Red on Crumb Cake Card Stock with the Creative Elements Stamp Set. Using some Basic Grey I Punched out some flowers with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and used some Mini Glue Dots to adhere them to the background. The Corner Catcher is made with the new Simply Scored Diagonal Plate. To make it you start with a piece of card stock that is 4″ x 4″ and you score it diagonally at 2″ on one side in opposite directions and fold. I cut out a triangle to go on the back side to hide the seam. All you have to do after that is embellish it. I used First Edition Designer Series Paper and stamped another image from Creative Elements in Riding Hood Red. Using a piece of Very Vanilla I stamped the same background that I used on the card and then stamped a letter from the Broadsheet Alphabet Stamp Set in Basic Grey and punched it out with the Curly Label Punch. That is mounted to a piece of Crumb Cake that is punched out with the 1 3/4″ Scallop circle and then adhered to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I punched the edge with the Scallop Trim Border Punch and used a piece of Riding Hood Red Ribbon from the Clearance Rack to finish it off. The greeting is from the Curly Cute Stamp Set and is also stamped in Riding Hood Red and mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I hope that you are inspired by the card and that you are looking forward to seeing all of the new products in the upcoming catalog. Thanks of stopping by and have a great day! 🙂

Happy Birthday Uncle Bruce

Hello and welcome to the weekend! Happy Saturday everyone! I’m off to Manhattan today to see some friends and it’s supposed to be a nice day for the most part so it will be a good time! For today’s card I’m posting my Uncle Bruce’s birthday card. He lives in London, England and he is by far one of the funniest people I know. Masculine cards can be a challenge so I have some go to sets, one of my favorites is The Open Sea Stamp Set. It has been a write in item since it made it’s debut in the Summer Mini Catalog last year. The base of the card is Not Quite Navy. A piece of paper from the Well Worn Designer Series Paper pack creates the background for the card. The images and greeting are stamped in Not Quite Navy, except for the ship which is stamped in Early Espresso. The greeting is from two sets, Family Reunion and Occasions Alphabet. They are all stamped on Very Vanilla and mounted on Cajun Craze. I had to keep the embellishments to a minimum seeing as it was being sent overseas. This is a nice simple masculine card with great rich colors. I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and thank you so much for taking some time to pay me a visit. Have an great day! 🙂

Matchbook Post-It Holders

Good morning and happy Friday to you all. I am so glad that the weekend is so close at hand! For today’s post I somewhat cased a project from this month’s Stampin’ Success. That’s the magazine that Stampin’ Up! sends out to us Demonstrators every month. It’s packed with tips, projects and suggestions for your business. I love it and look forward to it all the time. The Workshop project this month is Post-It holder matchbooks. I love when you can make something that is so simple but looks so nice and serves a purpose. The first one that I made is the butterfly one. I used Crumb Cake Card Stock for the base. The butterfly is from the Butterfly Prints Stamp Set and is stamped in Perfect Plum on Very Vanilla Card Stock. I used the Butterfly Punch to punch it out and then stamped the sentiment and the antennae on the So Saffron Card Stock. I used a Neutrals Collection Brad to secure it and then mounted it on some Perfect Plum Card Stock with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Scallop Edge Border Punch along the bottom lip and placed a piece of So Saffron 3/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon (Retired) around it. The flowers are punched out using the Boho Blossoms Punch and fastened with another brad. For the second one I used Real Red Card Stock for the base. The stamped image is from the Easy Events Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black Classic Stampin’ Ink. I used an eye shadow applicator (like a mini sponge dauber!) to shade in the tree and grass with Lucky Limeade Ink. I then colored in the heart with Real Red and the trunk with Soft Suede Markers. The backing is Lucky Limeade and that is adhered to piece of Soft Suede that I ran through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The lip of this one is punched using the Eyelet Border Punch. I punched out a piece of Lucky Limeade with the Scallop Oval Punch and placed some Soft Suede 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon round it. I’m loving these little matchbooks and they would make great gifts for co-workers or just about anybody! Thanks you so much for stopping by and have an awesome Friday!

Up, Up Blue Birthday

Good morning people! We are more than halfway through the week! I was inspired by flight yesterday when I went to retrieve my parents from the airport. Today’s card uses the Up, Up & Away Stamp Set. The base of the card is Soft Suede. I used some Bashful Blue Card Stock for the sky. The large cloud at the bottom was cut out with my Paper Snips and some Whisper White Card Stock. The ballon images are stamped in Lucky Limeade and Island Indigo and the baskets underneath and the birds are stamped in Soft Suede all on Whisper White Card Stock. I made the clouds using the Cupcake Builder Punch, it’s the frosting! The greeting is stamped in Island Indigo and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch and backed with a piece of Lucky Limeade punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The balloons, clouds and greeting are all adhered to the card with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. It’s a quick card and I am loving the color combination. Thank for stopping in and have a great day!

Mojo 236

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday! I’m very happy today because I’m going to pick my parents up from the airport. They have been in London visiting my mom’s family. I was bummed that I didn’t get to go but I’ll be glad to have them back, I’ve missed them! Today I’m posting my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card. This weeks sketch is…

I wanted to do a happy spring card and what better to use than the new Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper (Pre-Order). It has one of my favorite colors in it, Island Indigo and that’s what I used for my card base. I took a piece of Whisper White and adhered three different coordinating patterns of the Summer Smooches DSP to it. Then I took a piece of Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon and wrapped that around the front. I used the trusty fork method to tie my bow and adhered it with a Mini Glue Dot. The image is form the Bright Blossoms Stamp Set (Pre-Order) and is stamped in Island Indigo. I used the 1/2″ Circle Punch to punch out a piece of Island Indigo Card Stock and I tied a piece of Island Indigo Bakers Twine through one of the Brights Collection Buttons and adhered that with a Mini Glue Dot. The greeting is from the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set and too is stamped in Island Indigo. I used the 2 3/8″ Scalloped Circle Punch to punch out some Daffodil Delight to mount the stamped image on. I can’t help but smile when I look at the card. It’s nice, simple and happy. Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Foliage Pocket Card

Good morning! I hope that everyone got through Monday ok. Mine was a bit challenging but I survived! Today’s card uses what I think is safe to say is my favorite stamp set, French Foliage. I love the detail and the depth in the stamps and the fact that it all looks so great together. This card is also not your average everyday card, it’s a pocket card. Essentially it’s a card front with a pocket on it to slide the message into. I started with a base of Early Espresso. I added a piece of Cajun Craze Card Stock to that. The pocket is quite simple to make using your Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I used a piece of Crumb Cake cut to 4 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. I scored it on the short side at 1/2″ and 4″. I turned it 90 degrees and scored it on the long side at 4″. On the longer piece I cut off the outside scored pieces and used the 3/16″ Corner Rounder to round the inside flaps and the top. A line of Sticky Strip on each reaming flap and a fold and the pocket is finished. I stamped the images from the French Foliage Stamp Set in Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze and Early Espresso on Very Vanilla Card Stock. Three Silver Mini Brads were added and then that was then adhered to another piece of Early Espresso Card Stock and mounted to the front of the pocket. I used the Round Tab Punch to make the pull for the piece that slides in. To finish off the card I placed a piece of Early Espresso 1/8″ Ribbon across the bottom and tied it off. I think that it’s a nice change from the everyday card and hope that you like it too. Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!

Paper Players #90

A good monday morning to you all. I hope that everyone had a nice Easter. Mine was great. I got to spend time with my daughter, brother and his fiancé. We have an idea for the wedding invitations and I am going to put something together this week. I also got to craft a lot this weekend which makes me very happy! Today’s post is for this weeks Paper Players Challenge. This week they have given us a color challenge using Not Quite Navy, Pool Party and Certainly Celery…

I decided to use a one of my more recently acquired sets the Elements of Style. I started with a base of Pool Party cut so that it opens from the bottom. I added a piece of Certainly Celery on top of that. I stamped the large image from the Elements of Style Stamp Set in Not Quite Navy on Very Vanilla and placed that on top. Using my Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit I cut out some butterflies in Pool Party and Certainly Celery and used Stampin’ Dimensionals cut up to adhere them randomly over the stamped image. The greeting is also stamped in Not Quite Navy and punched out with the Large Oval Punch and backed with a piece of Not Quite Navy Card Stock punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch. I love the colors and the simplicity of the card and hope that you enjoy it too. Thank you, as always, for dropping in. Have a great day!

Tempting Tango Birthday

Hello everyone and happy Easter Sunday! I hope that you are having a nice time with your family and friends today. I will see my daughter, brother and his fiancé later on. Today’s card is a simple Saturday card. It’s easy to make and not cluttered at all. I have been meaning to use the Pennants Builder Punch and the Pennant Parade Stamp set for a while. The base of the card is Tempting Turquoise. I used the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with a piece of Whisper White Card Stock for the background. I stamped some Tempting Turquoise with the same color ink and some Tangerine Tango, also with the same color ink, from the Pennant Parade Stamp Set and punched them out with the Pennants Builder Punch. I stamped wish big in the same two colors and punched them out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch and used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount them on the pennants. I “hung” a pice of White Bakers Twine across the card and adhered the pennants with more Stampin’ Dimensionals along it. The greeting is from the Party This Way Stamp Set and is stamped in Tempting Turquoise, it’s mounted on a piece of Tangerine Tango and punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch. It’s a nice colorful easy birthday card and would make a great workshop card. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day! 🙂
