Pretty Rose Tide Birthday

Good morning from snowy Long Island. We had about 2 inches of snow here last night, which is not a lot but still too much for me. It’s so cold that it looked like it was snowing glitter. I think it will probably be here for a little while because it’s not supposed to get warmer until Wednesday. Just another side effect of the winter!

Today I have a card for you that is a somewhat of a CASE from one that I did a few weeks ago. A friend of mine at work needed a birthday card for a girlfriend of hers. She said that she liked the fish from By the Tide because this girls husband and my friends husband fish together. I was a little unsure at first but here it is. The base of the card is Soft Suede Card Stock. The background is a piece of Pink Pirouette that is stamped with the Netting Background Stamp inked in Pink Pirouette. I stamped the coral and the poem in Rose Red on Whisper White. The coral piece I cut out with the 3 1/2″ Bigz Circle Die and the poem is backed by a piece of Rose Red and adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the fish I stamped him in Soft Suede and cut him out with my Paper Snips. The greeting is from the Wishes Your Way Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede and punched out with the Word Window Punch. I backed it with a piece of Rose Red that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. The fish and the greeting are also mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I actually like the and my friend thought it was perfect. I think it’s about as feminine as you can get with the By the Tide set! Thank you for stopping by today and I hope that you have a crafty day! 🙂

Create with Connie and Mary 236

T G I F! Thank god it’s FRIDAY! I am so ready for this week to done! It is still freezing here, the overnight low was 12 degrees and tomorrow they are saying a chance of snow. I’m still hoping they are wrong! I believe that snow should be reserved for ski resorts not metropolitan areas! I had my SU! meeting last night and it was fun as always. I love seeing everyone and getting the swaps which were really neat! I’ll post my swap card soon and the ones that I got too! Are we ready for the weekend?? I sure am!

Friday also means that it’s time for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week the ladies have given us a color challenge…

CCMC 236

Funnily enough when I first looked at the colors I envisioned holiday, must be the cold weather! A second glance and some advice from a friend helped me think flowers. The base of the card is Pretty in Pink Card Stock. The background is a piece of Very Vanilla and I stamped the greeting from the Wacky Wishes Host(ess) Stamp Set and the stem in Lucky Limeade. The flower is one of the new single stamps called Boutique Blossom. I stamped it in Raspberry Ripple and cut it out with my Paper Snips. The butterflies are from the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set and are also stamped in Raspberry Ripple. I used the Bitty Butterfly Punch to punch them out. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them and the flower to the card. I like the simplicity and the large flower is great. I hope that you enjoyed my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card for this week. Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful FRIDAY!

Freshly Made Sketches #70

Hello and welcome to Thursday! It is bitterly cold here and I think it’s just about time that we had a warm up! I don’t think I have been able to go outside without gloves on for three days now. I will say one thing for the cold, poor little Winston doesn’t dawdle outside, he does his business and back in he comes. I feel bad and want to get him some boots but I tried that once and he wasn’t a fan! He would take a step and shake his paw, another step another shake and on and on. Poor Mr. Winston!

Anyway, enough about my little buddy and on to today’s post which is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. This time around we have a simple sketch from Rita…

Freshly Made Sketches #70

When I saw the sketch I immediately wanted to use a butterfly. I love butterflies and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Does it make me less of a man… possibly. LOL! I guess that’s maybe why my card turned out so masculine today. The base is a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock. A piece of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack is on the left side. For the main image I stamped the ferris wheel from the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set** in Midnight Muse and punched it out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. I backed it with a piece of Midnight Muse that I cut out with the 3″ Bigz Circle Die. For some interest I pierced around the edge using the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it in place. The greeting is from the same set also stamped in Midnight Muse. I flagged the right side and adhered it to the card with some SNAIL. This is a nice and simple card but the DSP it gives it a little oomph. A quick greeting change would make it good for almost any occasion. I hope that you enjoyed my Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card for this week. I really do appreciate you taking some time to visit and I love reading your comments! I hope that it is warmer where you are and that you have a nice day! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew Sketch & Color Challenge #26

Well here we are at Wednesday again! Halfway there! It is bitterly cold here on Long Island. I think the high temperature yesterday was 21 degrees and it’s 10 degrees now! The little bit of snow that we had still is there in some places. They say we are supposed to get more snow on Friday, I hope they are wrong. Did you make your lists and place your Sale-A-Bration orders yesterday? I really think that items they have tis year are among the best they have had in a while. I’m having so much fun playing with my goodies!

Now on to today’s post which is my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This week we have a sketch and color challenge…

PCCCS026-Sketch

And the colors are Daffodil Delight, Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink. I will admit that I struggled a little with the colors. I finally settled upon a Valentine for my card. The base of the card is Pretty in Pink Card Stock. I stamped a piece of Bashful Blue with the Distressed Dots Background Stamp in Bashful Blue. The strip of paper down the length of the right side is Floral District Designer Series Paper and there is a piece of Daffodil Delight next to it. The main panel consists of a piece of Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. The pink one is pierced around the edge using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. I used the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the blue piece. The stamped image is the Happy Heart Single Stamp that is stamped in Pretty in Pink and punched out with the Full Heart Punch. They are mounted to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of Bashful Blue, also embossed with the polkadots, is cut out with the Petite Curly Label Punch**. On top of that is a piece of Pretty in Pink that I punched out with the Small Heart Punch. I used the Heart to Heart Punch (Vintage) and the Owl Builder Punch to punch out some Silver Glimmer Paper to give it a little sparkle. I actually like the card and it reminds me of candy for some reason. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team Card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch & Color Challenge. Please stop by the blog to see what the other designers have come up with and enter a card of your own. Thank you so much for visiting with me today and I hope the rest of your day is great!

Nice and simple, just two little panels! The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack that I mounted to a piece of Very Vanilla so I could adhere the Primrose Petals 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back with some Sticky Strip. The panel to the left is a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped in Primrose Petals from the Vintage Verses Stamp Set**. The panel to the right contains another piece from the Print Poetry Stack. Across the bottom is another piece of Very Vanilla with some Basic Jewels Rhinestones. The flower is one from our 5/8″ Flower Trim. Jen from Stamped Silly had a tutorial on an easy way to dye them any color you want. I followed her easy instructions and tada! You can check out her tutorial here. For the leaves I punched out two pieces of Gumball Green with the Blossom Builder Punch. Both panels are backed with Summer Starfruit and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the colors in the DSP and the Flower Trim is kind of neat too! I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for this week. Thank you so much for visiting and I hope that you all have an awesome day! 🙂

Tracey’s 40th B’day!

Well that weekend just flew by! Lots to do makes time go quick. It was a busy weekend here on my blog too. We had the Control Freaks Blog Tour that started Saturday night and then my Paper Players Guest Designer post on Sunday morning. The Blog Tour was great! It’s quite awesome to be in such good creative company. And did you see all of the other designers cards over at the Paper Players? They just keep on getting better and better! I really do love being able to have the ability to share my creative passion with you and to be surrounded by such talented people. Let’s not forget all of you! Your comments and visits make me want to be the best I can be! So thank you very much!

Before we get started with today’s post just a quick reminder that Sale-A-Bration officially starts tomorrow! Get those lists ready and get your FREE products for every $50 you spend. If you spend $150 you will also get a pack of Silver Glimmer Paper to celebrate Stampin’ Up!’s 25 Anniversary in addition to $25 in Hostess money. Today I’m posting a birthday card for my cousin Tracey in England. I would doubt that she has received it yet so I’m hoping that she forgets to look today! She is turing 40 today and she honestly doesn’t look a day over 26! Her favorite color is pink and she manages a pub in London so this is what I came up with for her. The base of the card is Rose Red Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Pink Pirouette with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The flags at the top are cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. The top one is stamped in Rose Red with an image from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and the lower one is stamped in the same color using the Memorable Moments Stamp Set. The middle panel contains images from the Happy Hour Stamp Set. The drinks are stamped in Pink Pirouette and the olive in what else… Old Olive! I backed it with piece of Rose Red and all of the pieces, including the greeting, are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Speaking of the greeting it is also from the Happy Hour Stamp Set and again stamped in Rose Red. I think that the card fills the pink and pub manager requirements, don’t you? I hope that Tracey likes the card and that you enjoyed it too. Thank you for spending some time with me and I hope that you all have a very nice Monday!

Paper Players #129 :-)

Good morning! How are we all faring with the weekend so far? Mine is going well, I brought an iPhone back to life last night for a clumsy friend of mine! Manhattan was nice yesterday and I drove in and no traffic! It’s like winning the Lotto, there is always traffic here. So, how did you all like the Control Freaks Blog Tour last night?! I thought it was a pretty awesome tour! If you want to check it out again you can click here.

Seeing as it’s Sunday that must mean it’s time for another Paper Players Challenges! Congratulations to Stacey and her Cowboy card for being my choice for Cut Above last week! For this week’s challenge the lovely Jaydee has given us this Clean and Simple sketch…

Paper Players 129 1-20-2013

I figured that after my really feminine card the other day I needed something really masculine! LOL! I started my card off with a base of Not Quite Navy Card Stock. The background is created with a piece of River Rock… I don’t think I have used River Rock in forever… anyway… that I embossed with the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is stamped with an image from the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set. I used my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the pattern perfectly so it looks like one big stamp. For the watch I used the Dapper Dad Stamp Set. The dial is stamped in River Rock and the band in Soft Suede. The dial is mounted to the band and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is form the Cross My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. I trimmed it up with my Paper Snips and used some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces to adhere it to the card. What man would not want to get a nice clean masculine card like this one for their birthday?!?! I love the stamp and embossing folder coordination and the River Rock looks nice with the Not Quite Navy. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s challenge from Jaydee. Don’t forget to stop by the blog and see what amazing cards the other talented designer have come up with and enter one of yours so I can see! I hope you have a nice rest of your weekend. 🙂

Control Freaks January Blog Tour!

freakwelcome

Hello and welcome to the Control Freaks January Blog Tour featuring products from the 2013 Sale-A-Bration Brochure! If you are following the tour you have just arrived from Connie Babbert’s blog. She always has such awesome projects doesn’t she?!?! I have two projects to share with you today, both of them are 3D Home Decor items and I hope that you enjoy them!

First up we have a small resin frame that I picked up from a local craft store. You can do some amazing things with theses frames besides putting a picture inside. I have a fond affection for London so I was so happy to see the Phone Box in the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set. I stamped the image in Midnight Muse on Very Vanilla Card Stock. The hellos are form the Petite Pretties Stamp Set and are stamped in Summer Starfruit. I used the Petite Curly Label Punch, also a Sale-A-Bration item, to punch them out. Across the bottom is a piece of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. To dress that up a little bit I adhered a piece of Real Red 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around the back. I love the standard red and blue with the pop of Summer Starfruit. How cool is that they included a punch in this year’s Sale-A-Bration?! This is a simple project that will help dress up any little nook in your home. It definitely makes me feel sentimental for merry old England!

Frame - Control Freaks 1-2013 Blog Tour

Next up we have a bird cage. I also picked this up from a local craft store but instead of a bird I thought some flowers would look nice inside. To form the base I used two circles, one in Whisper White and one in Early Espresso. In between the two layers is a piece of floral foam. The flowers are from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set and are stamped in Primrose Petals and cut out with the Floral Frames Collection Framelits Dies. The middles are stamped in Summer Starfruit and punched out with the circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. For the leaves I used the Secret Garden Framelits Dies and some Garden Green. The stems are floral wire and some Mini Glue Dots hold the flowers and Multipurpose Glue holds the leaves. For the middles I used Stampin’ Dimensionals for some depth. A poke with my Paper-Piercing Tool made putting them in the base quick and easy. The stamp around the bottom of the cage is also from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple. I thought it needed some butterflies so I stamped them from the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set in Pool Party and punched them out with the Petite Butterfly Punch. Some Mini Glue Dots hold them in place. I wasn’t too sure about the flowers in the bird cage but I really like the way it looks. Fab Friday 10

Morning all! Happy Saturday! It is frigid here on Long Island today. We have been lucky so far with the weather but I fear our luck may have run out! I had a very nice dinner at TGI Friday’s last night with my friends Anthony and Danielle. We had some of the new Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese Dipping Sauce… WOW! That was some good stuff! I could have had that and only that for dinner. I’m off to Manhattan this morning to meet my Kimmie and have some diner breakfast. I have to be back early because I have lots of stuff to do later on! Don’t forget to stop back for the Control Freaks Blog Tour!

Today’s post is for Fab Friday. This week the folks over there have given us a five color challenge…

Fab Friday Color 10

Pool Party is my fave and I love all of the other colors too. When I saw them I immediately thought of the Dress Up Framelits Dies. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background consists of a piece of Pink Pirouette that I stamped in Pink Pirouette with the Secret Garden Stamp Set. I rounded the corners on it and a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I used to back it. I used the Dress Up Framelits Dies to cut out the dress form from a piece of Crumb Cake and the dress from a piece of Cherry Cobbler. A piece of Creped Filter Paper is cut out with the dress framelit again for the bottom half and a piece of Pool Party 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon makes the belt. I used some butterflies that I cut out with the beautiful Wings Embosslit in Pool Party for the ones on the right and Cherry Cobbler for the buckle. The greeting is from the Petite Pretties Stamp Set** and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Pool Party and punched out with the Petite Curly Label Punch. For a little bling I used some Basic Jewels Rhinestone to form a necklace. I really like the Creped Filter Paper over card stock. It has a fabric like texture and lets some of the card stock color show through. I hope that you enjoyed my Fab Friday card for their color challenge. Thank you very much for checking in and I hope that you have a crafty day! 🙂

Create with Connie and Mary 235

Woo hoo! It’s Friday! I mentioned yesterday that I was going into the city after work and that it would be a long day and it was. I managed to get to the city by 6:15 and go to my appointments and be home by 11:15, as a bonus I stayed awake on the train. It’s a balmy 26 degrees here this morning and that is way too cold for me! We are supposed to have a little bit of a cold spell for a while but hopefully it won’t last long! What are all of you up to for the weekend? I’m out to dinner with my friends Anthony and Danielle tonight then off to Manhattan tomorrow morning again. We have a little Control Freaks Blog hop coming up tomorrow evening too! 🙂

My post today is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. First I want to thank the lovely ladies for choosing me as one for the top three picks for last week’s challenge. You can see my original post here and the Create with Connie and Mary post here. Now on to this week. We have a sweet little sketch to interpret…

CCMC 235

The base for my card starts off with a piece of Tangerine Tango Card Stock with a piece Whisper White on top. I used a piece of Floral District Designer Series Paper in the middle for the background. Before I adhered the panel to the base I used some Sticky Strip to hold a piece of Lucky Limeade 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon vertically on the right side. The panel in the middle is stamped with an image from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set in Lucky Limeade. The main image is from the Patterned Occasions Stamp Set** and is stamped in Tangerine Tango. I used the 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch to punch it out and adhered it to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The little coordinating flowers are from the Itty Bitty Bits Stamp Set and are also stamped in Tangerine Tango. I punched them out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces hold them in place. Finally, some Lucky Limeade Bakers Twine is used to hold on one of the buttons from the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack**. I like the way the Floral District DSP coordinates with the stamped images. I hope that you like my Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge card for this week. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a fun Friday!
