Freshly Made Sketches #69

Hello there! How are all of you doing today? I’m good, I have to run into Manhattan tonight after work so it’s going to be a very long day! I’m hoping to not sleep past my stop on the way home, I have done that before and it’s not fun at all! It was rainy and overcast here again yesterday and is supposed to get much colder. I think we are supposed to get some snow tonight too, hopefully only a dusting. On a side note the 2013 Spring Catalog is one of the featured catalogs on the Google Catalogs App for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android devices. Go to your App Store and download your free copy and take the catalog with you!

For today’s post I have my Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card. This week our sketch is provided by Linda…

Freshly Made Sketches #69

A super clean and simple sketch indeed! In the spirt of trying to get some Valentine’s card ideas that’s what I went with. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Pool Party on the bottom left and some Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper** on the top right. For some separation I punched out a piece of Primrose Petals with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch and used some 2-Way Glue to adhere it diagonally. The images are from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and they are cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. The greeting is from the Seasonal Sayings Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals. I’m really liking the Pool Party and Primrose Petals together and the Sycamore Street DSP from Sale-A-Bration is one of the best yet! I hope that you “loved” my Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card for this week. I also hope that you are getting those lists ready for Sale-A-Bration, it’s almost here! Thanks for checking in with me and I hope you have a fun day! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew Sketch 25

Wednesday already?! Where is the week going? I have been a very busy boy all week, although it does mean that we are closer to Friday! LOL! I know, I’m a little obsessed with Friday! How is everyone today? I’m not too bad. It sleeted here a little last night but has turned to rain and is supposed to stop soon. I guess it’s winter again!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This week have a sketch and color combo. I did the sketch but not the color combo…

PCCCS025-Sketch

Colors: Melon Mambo, Old Olive and Basic Gray

I wanted to use some Summer Starfruit and one of my favorite Designer Series papers, Comfort Café has it in it so I choose the rest of the colors from there. The base of the card is Soft Suede Card Stock. The background is a piece of Comfort Café Designer Series Paper. I backed it with some Very Vanilla to make it a little more ridgid so that it was easier to adhere the piece of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back with some Sticky Strip. A strip of Midnight Muse embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder goes down the left side. I punched out some Cajun Craze with the Curly Label Punch and stamped them in Midnight Muse with an image from the Creative Elements Stamp Set. The hellos are form the Petite Pretties Stamp Set** and are stamped in Summer Starfruit. I used the Petite Curly Label Punch to punch them out and adhered them to the larger labels with SNAIL. They are then adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the way the the image from Creative Elements is similar to the pattern in the DSP and I love the colors! I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s challenge. Click on over and see what the other deigners have in store for you and upload your card! Thanks, as always, for your visit and I hope that you have a very nice Wednesday!

All Dressed Up Birthday & Special Announcements

Good morning everyone! How are we all doing this fine Monday morning? I’m doing well, I had a nice weekend with some fun time on Saturday and some creative time on Sunday. It was a very nicely balanced weekend, something that I am not usually able to achieve. So I don’t know if you noticed but I got a little bored with the blog look. I opened up My Digital Studio and played around and this is what I came up with. What do you think? I know Affection Collection is “Vintage” but it’s still one of my favorite sets. Leave me a comment to share your thoughts on the new look.

Before I get to today’s card I have two exciting things to share with you!

First up is the Dude! You’re Welcome Kit! A kit designed by men for men because “Real Men Build Cards” Check out the fun video…

Now off we go with today’s card. I saw the All Dressed Up Framelits, Pop’ n Cuts and Stamp Set in the Spring Catalog and thought now why would I order that?! That’s way too girly for me! Then I thought, well I have a lot of female friends that would probably appreciate a card made with these fashionable items, so I caved! I made this card for a friend of mine at work for her birthday. The base of the card is Primrose Petals Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla with the Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The pretty dress and dressmakers stand are cut out with the Dress Up Framelits Dies, the stand in Crumb Cake and the dress from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. A thin piece of Silver Glimmer Paper is used for the belt. The flower is Primrose Petals punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and a Basic Jewels Rhinestone is adhered in the center. For the greeting I stamped the happy birthday from the Made for You Stamp Set in Gumball Green. The Print Poetry Designer Series Paper makes a great print for the dress and the card was super simple to make and my friend really liked it and I hope that you enjoyed it too! Thank you so much for spending some time with me today, I always appreciate your visit! Have a great day!

Paper Players Color Challenge #128

Happy Sunday peeps! I had a very nice time in Manhattan yesterday. Kim and I went to the diner for breakfast. After that we went down to the Village an wandered around. We stopped at Chelsea Market, which smelled divine. We wandered around and made our way up to Korea Town and had some Korean food for dinner. It was a nice nothing planned see where the day takes you kind of day. We didn’t get to the movies but that’s ok, we’ll see something next time.

Sunday also means that it’s time for another challenge from the Paper Players. This week we have a color challenge from Anne Marie…

Paper Player 128 1-13-2013

I puzzled over what to do for this one. I finally settled on a clean and simple card. The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Daffodil Delight with the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is stamped with an image from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set in Pacific Point. I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies to cut it and before it is adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I pierced around the edge with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. The tickets across the bottom are from the Take a Ticket Stamp Set and are also stamped in Pacific Point. I punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and adhered them with some more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I thought the card needed a little bling so I put some Basic Jewels Rhinestones on the main image. Who wouldn’t want to get a card proclaiming that they are amazing?!?! I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Paper Player Color Challenge from Anne Marie. Oh, congratulations to Audrey for being my choice for Cut Above for last week’s challenge. Don’t forget to click on over to the Paper Players blog to see what the other designers have come up with and enter your card for us to see! Thanks for paying me a visit today. I hope you have a nice relaxing Sunday! 🙂

Create with Connie and Mary 234

Morning all! Ahh… Saturday how I love thee! I’m off to the city this morning to visit my friend Kim. We are going to the movies later to see the Life of Pi and after that maybe we’ll get some Korean food, yum! What are you all up to today? It’s supposed to be in the 50’s here and tomorrow we are supposed to get up to the 60’s! Now that’s more like it! I’m sure that it will be short lived but appreciated none the less.

Today’s post is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. For this week’s challenge they have given us a color challenge…

CCMC 234

A very different color combinations for me. I do love Midnight Muse and I wanted to do something a little different. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock and I stamped the leaves from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set** in Midnight Muse down the right side of the base. The background and the Pink Pirouette rounded squares are both embossed with the Vine Street Textured Impressions Embossing Folder**. The larger rounded squares under the Pink Pirouette ones are Midnight Muse. I rounded the corners with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and the Pink ones are rounded with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. The “petals are adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting I used the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set stamped in Midnight Muse and rounded all of the corners of it with the 3/16” Corner Rounder. I really like the retro modern feel of the card and I enjoyed the colors together more than I thought I would. I hope you like my Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge card for this week. Thank you for visiting me today and don’t forget to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players Color Challenge from Anne Marie. Have a adventurous day! 🙂

Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad January Blog Hop!

Blog Hop Banner January 2013

Good day to you and welcome to the January edition of the Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad Blog Hop featuring products from the Stampin’ Up! 2013 Spring Catalog. We have some great projects in store for you today! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from Terry Blais‘ blog, didn’t she have some great stuff to share with you? I have two projects for you today, a card and a box that would be great for some chocolates!

First up we have the card. The base of it is Raspberry Ripple Card Stock. The background is created with the Woodgrain Background Stamp, in Summer Starfruit, and some Whisper White Card Stock. A strip of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack goes across the bottom. The flowers and leaves are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies. The leaves are stamped in Gumball Green and the flowers in Raspberry Ripple on Primrose Petals. I used the Boho Blossom Punch for the centers in Summer Starfruit and a Basic Jewel Pearl is adhered in the middle of each. The flowers are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting I stamped the happy birthday from the Made for You Stamp Set in Raspberry Ripple. I love the woodgrain as a background for the flowers and the framelits make cutting them out so easy. I have a few people in mind that might like this for their birthday!

Stylin' Stampin' Blog Hop 1-10-2013

Next we have a box. It definitely would be great for some chocolates but you could also fit a host of other more “precious” gifts inside. The box measures 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ x 1 1/2″ and is created using Crumb Cake Card Stock and my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. To decorate the box I used the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders with some Primrose Petals. The flags are made from pieces of More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper. For the heart I stamped the image from the You are Loved Stamp Set in Primrose Petals and cut it out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. I pierced around the edge with the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool and adhered it to the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The love is from the same set and is stamped in Pool Party and Primrose Petals. I used the Decorative Label Punch and the Large Oval Punch to punch them out and layered them for more dimension. I still vote that we fill the box with some chocolate!

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge #24

Hello everyone! So here we are at Wednesday, almost there! The weather has been much nicer around here lately. It has been in the 40’s and I think it’s supposed to go up to the 50’s over the weekend. I’m making a list of things that I want to do when it gets warmer outside. Does it show that I can’t wait for the spring?!?!

If it’s Wednesday that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This week we have a simple sketch…

PCCCS024-Sketch

I wanted to use some new products from the upcoming Sale-A-Bration promotion that starts January 22, 2013. I also haven’t tried the Creped Filter Paper that I got from the 2013 Spring Catalog so I incorporated it into this card. The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. The background is a piece of Creped Filter Paper. I used my Glue Stick to adhere it to the card base. For the strip of Paper I used a piece from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. The flags are Soft Suede, the bottom one has some Metallic 3/16″ Brads on it. I used the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set** for the image and greeting. I stamped both of them in Midnight Muse and used the 2 1/2″ Circle punch to punch out the Penny Farthing. The large button is one of the Silver Basic Designer Buttons and I threaded some Whisper White Bakers Twine through the holes and left the ends long before adhering it to the card with some Mini Glue Dots. This card would be great for a masculine birthday card and I really like the texture that the Creped Filter Paper gives the background. I hope you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Head on over to the blog and see what the other designers have come up with and post a card of your own! Thanks, as always for taking some time to stop by and see what I’m up to. I hope that you all have a wonderful day!

One down and four more to go! How was everyone’s Monday? Mine was bearable, but just! I did have card class with my daughter last night and I always enjoy that. Valentine’s projects were last night’s focus. Some 3 x 3 cards and a box, a Pillow Box and a card. Is it wrong of me that I keep my projects because I like them?!?! If I feel the need to give one to someone I make a duplicate, I have a lot of cards! LOL!

Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. For this week Julee Tilman has provided us with this sketch…

Mojo275

I’m liking the panels on this one, I also knew as soon as I saw it what I was going to use! The base of my card is Calypso Coral Card Stock, a color I haven’t used in a while. I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. The pieces of paper are from the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper Pack. The top most one is backed by a piece of Calypso Coral. I took a piece of Early Espresso and adhered a piece of Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon to it and mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the Soda Pop Tops so that’s what I used in the middle. I stamped two images form the Collage Curios Stamp Set in So Saffron and Calypso Coral. The 1″ Circle Punch crops it out for a perfect fit in the middle of the Soda Pop Top and a Stampin’ Dimensional holds it in place. The greeting is from the My Little Valentine Stamp Set that is part of one of the Valentine’s Promotions that Stampin’ Up! is running right now. It punches out perfectly with the Small Oval Punch and a piece of Lucky Limeade, punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch, backs it nicely. One more Stampin’ Dimensional adheres it to the card. I really like the Tea for Two DSP and the Soda Pop Tops are my absolute favorite! I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for this week. Thanks so much for checking in with me and I hope that you have a great day!

Splitcoast Creative Crew

Monday, Monday… back so soon I see! How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was pretty good. I didn’t get all of my projects done but I did get most of them. The weather was very nice here yesterday and I can sense the extra minutes of daylight we are getting each day on way back to glorious spring!

Today I’m posting two cards that I made for the Creative Crew over on Splitcoast. They kindly asked me if I would be a part of the crew for the next four months and I happily agreed. You can visit the challenge gallery here and upload your own cards. They also have a scrapbook challenge which I didn’t do this month but I will give a go next month!

My first card is all about Designer Series Paper. The challenge is to use a favorite designer series paper and convince you to love it too. The base of the card is Not Quite Navy Card Stock and the background is a simple piece of Very Vanilla. The vest is made from Parker’s Patterns Designer Series Paper. It is just a rectangle that I cut a “v” in and used the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch to make the arm holes. The bowtie is from the Dapper Dad Stamp Set and is stamped in Sahara Sand and the greeting is form the the Apothecary Art Stamp Set and is stamped in Not Quite Navy. What vest would be complete without some Naturals Designer Buttons?! It’s a really simple card and would also make a great Father’s Day card. I really do love the DSP, it’s got some nice masculine patterns and bold colors in it too!

CCREW0113DF

The second card is all about SIP… stamps, ink and paper and that’s all I used on it. The base of the card is Rose Red Card Stock. Across the lower half is a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped with the chevron stamps from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set in Rose Red and Pretty in Pink. The main panels also has images stamped from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set. The flowers are stamped in Rose Red and Pretty in Pink and the greeting in Rose Red. I backed it wait a piece of Pretty in Pink before adhering it to the card with SNAIL. Super simple, no Big Shot, no Punches just SIP!

CCREW0113CF

There is also a third card that I made but I think you can take a look at that one when you go and check out the gallery! I hope that you enjoyed my first two cards for the Splitcoast Creative Crew. Thank you so much for stopping by and don’t forget to enter your card in this weeks “Love is in the Air” challenge from Ann over at the Paper Players! Have a very nice day!

Paper Players #127 :-)

A very good Sunday morning to you all! I had a nice day yesterday. Taylor and I both got much needed haircuts, we went to lunch with my friend Louis at Panera (a favorite of mine). After lunch went to MJM Shoes and Taylor and I both got Vans sneakers for $12.99! The bargains didn’t stop there, I went to the Gap later on with my friend Heather and got jeans for $11.59 and a winter coat for $35.68! I love a good bargain!

Today is an especially good day for me as I start my Guest Designer term with the Paper Players! I have been playing along with them for over a while and have enjoyed every one of their challenges. They are a talented group and I always look forward to seeing what wonderful creations they come up with. For the first challenge of the New Year Ann has given us a “Love is in the Air” challenge…

A great challenge to give you a head start on your Valentine’s cards! And who doesn’t like a little romance?!?! My card starts off with a base of Pool Party Card Stock that I stamped in Pool Party with the Netting Background Stamp. Across the bottom is a piece of Primrose Petals that I embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the top I used the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and Hearts a Flutter Framelits that I used to cut out the flags that are stamped in Primrose Petals. The greeting is from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set and is also stamped in Primrose Petals and I cut it out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. In the middle of the card is a piece of Real Red that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. The edge is pierced using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. On top of that is a piece of Pool Party that I cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit and The heart image on top of that is also from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals and cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. I mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the final piece I used the Pinwheel Sizzlits Die to cut out a piece of More Amore Specialty Designer Series paper and a 1/8″ Silver Mini Brad to hold it together. A Stampin’ Dimensionals adheres it to the card. I love all of the new products from the 2013 Spring Catalog and they go so well with the items from the 2012-2013 Annual Catalog. I hope that you enjoyed my Valentine’s card for this weeks Paper Players “Love is in the Air” challenge form Ann. Head on over to the blog and see what wonderful creations the other designers have come up with and post a card of yours while you’re there! Thanks for checking in with me today and I hope that you have an enjoyable Sunday!
