Freshly Made Sketches #51

Good morning everyone! How are we all faring this week? I’m doing pretty well, although I do feel like I live in a swamp for the past two days. It has been so humid here on Long Island and we have had torrential rain for a good part of the day for the past two days. Hopefully the humidity will break today! Fingers crossed!

Today’s post os for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. Before we get to that I want to thank Alissa for choosing me as her Perfect Prince for last week’s challenge! You can see the original post here and the Freshly Made Sketches post here. Now on to this week. Cindy has provided us with this neat sketch…

When I saw it I knew I wanted to do a holiday card. I also wanted to mix up the colors a little too. I started with a base of Night of Navy Card Stock. I took a piece of Soft Suede and trimmed right edge with the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies. To the top of that I adhered a piece of paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The main stamped images are form the Affection Collection Stamp Set. The large image is stamped in Night of Navy and cut out with the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies along with a piece of Cherry Cobbler one size up. I used the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and the Paper-Piercing Tool around the edge of both. The flagged stamp is stamped in Soft Suede. I stamped the large image again in Cherry Cobbler and used the Modern Label Punch to punch out the middle. The greeting is from the Petite Pairs Stamp Set and is stamped in Night of Navy. All of the pieces are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For a little bling I used the Owl Builder Punch to punch out the heart from a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper. I really like the color combination and will definitely be using it again. I hope that you enjoyed this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card. Thank you for visiting and for your comments. Have an amazing day!

Fab Friday 01

Hello all and welcome to an early Wednesday brought to you by our day off this week, Monday. Thanks Monday, for one of the first times in recent memory I like you! LOL! Today’s post is for a new weekly challenge called Fab Friday. It was founded by Mindy Backes and is made up of a wonderful team. I decided that seeing as it’s the inaugural challenge let’s give it a try. The challenge is for every other Friday and this week we have a sketch…

I have to say that I kind of like it! The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I took a piece of Lucky Limeade and cut the lower edge with the Finishing Touches Edgelits. A piece of Primrose Petals is embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and placed right above the bottom. The stamped images on top are from the Watercolor Winter Stamp Set, The pine needles are stamped in Lucky Limeade and Early Espresso on a Very Vanilla background. The poinsettias are 2-Step Stamped in Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals. I used my Paper Snips to cut them out and mounted them to the background with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Chock Full of Cheer Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso, I flagged the left side and on the right side is a Natural Designer Button with some Linen Thread adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. I have had a bit of an obsession with Primrose Petals lately I know. For some reason it reminds me of Teaberry Ice Cream that I have only ever had in Pennsylvania when I stayed at my Grandmother’s house. Maybe I’m feeling nostalgic! Has any one else ever had Teaberry ice cream? Anyway, I hope that you enjoyed the very first Fab Friday Sketch Challenge card. Thank you so very much for visiting and for all of your comments, I love them! Have a crafty day! 🙂

Mojo 257

Good morning peeps! Or is it?! Back to work, but it’s a short week! I had a very productive weekend and I even got to relax a little. Now I did put off some cleaning for next weekend but like they say Rome wasn’t built in a day. Now for today’s post which is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This week Julee Tilman has given us this layered sketch to work with…

I have to admit that this card took me a little time to make. I was undecided as to what I was going to use and I went back and forth for quite a while but in the end I’m quite happy with the results. The base of the card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Primrose Petals with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The next layer is a piece of Candlelight Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper that I adhered to a piece of Lucky Limeade that I edged with the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies. The ribbon across the lower portion is Primrose Petals 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon. I used some Sticky Strip to adhere it around the back and then mounted the whole thing to the card with SNAIL. The top layer is a piece of Primrose Petals that I stamped in Primrose Petals with the En Français Background Stamp. It’s backed by a piece of Very Vanilla and adhered to the card with Stampin Dimensionals. The flagged piece is also from the Candlelight Christmas Specialty DSP pack. For the main image I stamped a snowflake from the Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set in Primrose Petals after I cut out the circle with the Circles #2 Bigz Die. I backed it with a piece of Lucky Limeade that I punched out with the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. The two snow flakes at the top and bottom of the main image, stamped in Lucky Limeade, are also from the same set and are punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flagged greeting is form the Joyous Celebration Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso. I know, you have heard it before but I am a really big fan of non-tradiotional holiday colors. I love these colors together and the sketch provides some rich layering. I hope that you enjoyed this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card and as always thank you for stopping by. I love reading your comments so don’t forget to leave me one! Have a great day!

Paper Players #111

Good morning everyone and happy Labor Day! I’m always happy on Labor Day because it’s a holiday and I have no work! LOL! I hope that everyone is having a nice weekend. I am having a good one. I got lots of stuff accomplished and made a bunch of cards too.

Before I get to today’s post I would like to thank LeAnne for choosing my card as Headliner for the Paper Players Challenge 110. I’m so glad that she enjoyed the card, it has some of my favorite colors in it and I love the Wonderfall Stamp Seta and the Autumn Accents Bigz Die. You can see the original post here and the Paper Players post here. For this week’s Paper Players Challenge Jaydee has asked us to use leaves or a tree in our project…

Seeing as I had just used the Wonderfall set I decided to go with a favorite of mine that carried over from the 2011 Holiday Catalog, Gently Falling. The base of my card is Cajun Craze Card Stock. I used the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and a piece of More Mustard for the background. The Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies cutout is paper-pierced with the Festive Paper -Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing tool. I used my Color Spritzer tool and an Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker to spritz the card stock before adhering it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It creates the backdrop for the wreath I made with the Gently Falling Stamp Set. I stamped the outline of all of the images in Early Espresso. The fill in colors are Riding Hood Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede. I cut all of the stamped images out with my Paper Snips and mounted them to the Window Frame with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso, punched out with the Word Window Punch and mounted to a piece of Riding Hood Red that I punched out with the Modern Label Punch. It too is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the final touch I used one of the Brushed Bronze Designer buttons. I tied some Linen Thread through a Brights Designer Button and adhered it to the Bronze button with some Mini Glue Dots and then adhered them to the card with more Mini Glue Dots. It felt good to use one of my older sets and I like the color combination with the pops of red. I hope that you enjoyed this weeks Paper Player Challenge card and that you have a great day.Thank you so much for spending some time with me today.

Primrose Limeade Espresso Ornaments Tags

Hello and a good Sunday to you! Welcome to day two of our three day weekend. I think it’s going a little quicker that I would prefer but what can you do?! I still have lots to do before Tuesday becomes this weeks Monday so let start today’s post. As you know I’m a big fan of non-tradiotional Holiday colors so for today I’m posting some 3 x 3 cards that would make nice note cards or gift tags. I was inspired by a card that I saw in the August issue of our Demonstrator magazine, Stampin’ Success. I made a few modifications but kept the layout basically the same. I started with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock cut to 6″ x 3″. Using the Large Scallop Edgelits Dies I took off about 1/4″ from the end of each one and used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce along the scallop. I then scored them and added a piece of Lucky Limeade under the scallop to make them 3 x 3 again. The layers in the middle are built using the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies. I used Early Espresso for the bottom and pierced the edges. The next layer is Primrose Petals and again is pierced and adhered to the bottom layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The ornaments are from the Keepsake Ornaments Stamp Set and are all stamped in Lucky Limeade and cut out with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits Dies. They too are mounted to the Primrose Layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The merry is from the Pennant Parade Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and adhered with some SNAIL. They look like they are more work than they are, the Framelits make cutting everything out a breeze. I hope that you are enjoying the non-traditional Holiday projects and that it’s making you think outside the box! Thank you very much for visiting today and enjoy!

CCMC 216

Good morning and welcome to day one of our three day weekend! It was a good day yesterday because we got out of work at 3:00. To make the day even better my very talented friend and daughter’s mom gave an early birthday present…

A beautiful bracelet! It’s made with sterling silver beads and hammered button closure with black leather cord. I love it! You can visit her Etsy shop and see all of the beautiful creations by clicking here. I think that she is quite talented! 🙂

Now on to today’s post, it’s for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a color challenge…

When I first saw the colors I thought Halloween and then I thought no, they would be great for a non-tradiotional holiday card. We all know how I like non-tradiotional holiday colors. I got the idea for the card from the Demonstrator magazine Stampin’ Success. The base of the card is Night of Navy Card Stock. I cut a piece of Sahara Sand to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack for the circles on the lower right. I stamped the greeting from the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set in Rich Razzleberry and then markered the “on earth” in Lucky Limeade and flagged the ends. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals are used to adhere the whole thing to the card base. The stamped images are form the Merry Minis Stamp Set and are stamped in Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy and Lucky Limeade. I used the coordinating Merry Mini’s Punch Pack to punch them out and they are also adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the simplicity of the card and originally I was going to use Crumb Cake for the background but decided to go with one of my more neglected colors, Sahara Sand, instead. I think it worked out quite well. I hope you enjoyed this weeks Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge card, let me know what you think by leaving a comment. Have a wonderful Saturday and thanks for visiting!

Quint-Essential Cute Flourishes Indigo Pool CAS

Hello everyone! How are we all doing today? It’s Wednesday so we are halfway there people! The best part is I realized today that Monday is a holiday! Three day weekend!! Woo hoo! Today’s post is a Clean and Simple card, although from the supply list it doesn’t look that way. It honestly took me about 25 minutes to come up with and make the card. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped an image from the Flowering Flourishes Stamp Set in Pool Party and the greeting is from the Curly Cute Stamp Set stamped in Island Indigo. The Quint-Essential Flower is definitely one of my more neglected stamps. I have come up with a clever way to incorporate it more. I stamped it in Island Indigo and then again in Pool Party. Using the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch I punched them both out. I then used the 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle punch to punch out the Pool Party one. The middle of that piece is punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch and again with the 1/2″ Circle Punch. I assembled the flower using a Shaker Frame for the flower and a Stampin Dimensional for the middle piece. A Vintage Faceted Designer Button with a Basic Jewels Rhinestone finishes of the flower. Using the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch I punched a circle out of the front of the card. I used some SNAIL to adhere the punched circle to the inside and then adhered the flower to that. A few more Basic Jewels Rhinestones complete the card. For a card that is basically just punching and stamping I like the little wow factor that the punched circle gives. As you can see in the pictures when you close it the stamped image continues inside and also makes it easy to see where you can write. I hope that enjoyed today’s card and thanks so much for checking in with me. Don’t forget to leave a comment and have a great day!

Mojo 256

Hello and good morning! How is everyone today? I’m doing well, made it through Monday. We had the Barclays Golf Tournament here in Bethpage State Park for the past week and it turned my 8 minute ride to work into a 25 minute ride. Thankfully it’s over and things were back to normal yesterday morning. Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This week we have a very nice sketch from Julee Tilman…

We all know that I always do the square card and this week is no exception. The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Primrose Petals with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to use for my background. The flagged strips of paper are all from the Candlelight Christmas Designer Series Paper Pack. For the main image I stamped the pine needles from the Watercolor Winter Stamp Set in Lucky Limeade and cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies. The greeting is form the Greetings of the Season Stamp Set. I stamped it in Primrose Petals and then I markered the On Earth and stamped it, cut it out and flagged the ends. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to the Peace part. The pinecones are also from the Watercolor Winter Stamp Set and are 2 Step Stamped in Early Espresso for the outline and Soft Suede for the inside and they too are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. As we know I love non-tradiotional Holiday colors so I’m really liking this card. All of the items that I used to make are available in the 2012 Holiday Catalog. I hope that you enjoyed this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card and thank you very much for visiting. Have a simply amazing day!

Paper Players #110

Happy Monday peeps! Yeah right! Monday comes so fast, I wish it were a three day weekend every week. I would like to go back in time and have a word with the person that decided on the 5 day work week! LOL! Anyway, I had a nice weekend and hope that you did too. Today’s post is for this weeks Paper Players Challenge. I checked twice just to make sure that I got it right! The lovely LeAnne has given us this sketch to work with…

My card this week has lots of layers and of course some paper-piercing! It’s a nice masculine fall themed birthday card. The base of my card is Island Indigo Card Stock. I embossed a piece of the Core’dinations Card Stock in Early Espresso with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Using the Core’dinations Sanding System I sanded the card stock to really make the grain of the wood stand out. I like the fact that when you sand it the paper has an almost velvet feel to it. I stamped two leaves from the Wonderfall Stamp Set in Island Indigo on Crumb Cake and then used my Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and the Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce around the outside edges. They are mounted to two pieces of Island Indigo and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The patterned piece of paper in the middle is from the Festival of Prints Designer Paper Stack and is backed by a piece of Early Espresso. The large maple leaf and acorn are cut out with the Autumn Accents Bigz Die and are also form the Wonderfall Stamp Set, the leaf is stamped in Island Indigo and the acorn is stamped in Early Espresso, both on Crumb Cake. Finally the greeting is from the From My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo on Crumb Cake and I used the Paper-Piercing goodies again along the top and bottom of the sentiment. I cut it out using the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and all of the pieces in the middle are mounted to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the color combination and what guy wouldn’t want to get this card for their birthday?! I hope that you enjoyed this weeks Paper Players Challenge card. Have an interesting Monday and thanks for popping in!

Baja Vanilla Suede Wedding

Hello peeps! How are you all doing on this fine Sunday? I’m doing great! I got most of what I wanted to accomplish done yesterday and I am hoping to get the rest finished today. As I mentioned I had a wedding to go to on Friday night and I thought I would share with you the card that I made for the happy couple. The base of the card is Baja Breeze Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. I used the Wedding Words Jumbo Wheel inked in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla and cut a strip of it and flagged the end. Next to that is a piece of Baja Breeze with a piece of Very Vanilla 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon (Retired) adhered to the front and I flagged the ends on both of them. Both are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The cake is from the Love & Laughter Stamp Set and I used VersaMark on Baja Breeze with Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder to heat emboss the image. I cut it out with my Paper Snips and mounted it to a piece of Soft Suede that I cut out with the Floral Frames Framelits Dies. The greeting is also from the Love & Laughter Stamp Set and is stamped in Baja Breeze and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. I trimmed off the top and bottom and mounted it to a piece of Soft Suede that is also punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. For a little bling I punched a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper out with the Small Heart Punch. I love the colors and the cake. I hope that enjoyed today’s card. Thank you very much for checking in and have a great day!
