SUO Challenges 108

Hmm… so lets see, I had two blog tours in a row so I did’t get to tell you about Sunday! LOL! Sunday was a fun day! I met Michael at the Scrapbook store at noon. Dyan Reaveley was there teaching a class. She is a lovely English lady that has a line of stamps, stencils, ink, etc. called Dylusions with Ranger. Michael introduced me to her and we chatted for a bit. You can see Dyan’s blog HERE. After that we went to lunch in Farmingdale and there just happened to be a street fair so we took a peek that too. From there we stopped at Michaels and then by Kim and Brian’s for a bit. Later on I stopped by Andrew’s to drop off some vitamins, he’s not feeling well and has a busy week ahead of him so we are hoping to keep the cold at bay! As if being sick wasn’t enough he dropped his iPhone in water and came by to get some rice to put it in. Fingers crossed that all is well when he turns it on this morning. Everything always happens at once doesn’t it?! So all in all I had a great weekend and got to see lots of peeps which always makes me happy!!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our The Treats the Thing challenge. I decided that I needed to make another shaker something so this is what I came up with. I took one of the Tiny Treat Boxes and covered the four sides with some All is Calm Designer Series Paper. I decided that the top was a good place for my shaker and I had just gotten some really snowy looking glitter (I know, I don’t really like glitter, but I’ll make an exception every once in a while!) so it needed to be a wintry scene on a very small scale! I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Window Sheet and some Lost Lagoon. One of the Shaker Frames is used to hold my glitter. The images are from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the trees in Pear Pizzaz and my Santa and reindeer are markered with Real Red and Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write Markers. The Circles Collection Framelits cut out the images and complete the shaker frame. My tag is a piece of Lost Lagoon that is punched out with the Note Tag Punch. I heat embossed the sentiments in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder from the Cheerful Tags Photopolymer Stamp Set and a piece of White Baker’s Twine tucked under the shaker holds it in place. A fun little shaker box to put a sweet little gift in! That’s my project for the SUO Challenges The Treats the Thing challenge. So Very Happy Owl

Hello my friends! I am very happy to report that the move went extremely well! Fred showed up at 8:00 and Andrew at 8:20, with Starbucks!! We got right to work and about 80% of my stuff is at the new place. Fred had to leave at 3:30 and Andrew was going to leave at 5:30, he had a BBQ to go to. He said that he didn’t want to leave me here to set up by myself and he stayed until 8:30. I always say how awesome he is and I love it when he proves me right! I couldn’t have done any of this without him and Fred! I’m so incredibly lucky to have the amazing friends that I have and am happy to sing their praises! Andrew will be back over later to help finish up and I’m going to see what I can get accomplished in the new craft space this morning! Speaking of the new craft space since it’s mostly set up I thought I would share a picture of it…

You can see that it’s a cozy space in a walk in closet of the living room. You can also see the color of the living room, and nice almost Coastal Cabana! I wanted something bright and cheery and I think I got it. Yes the shelves are filled with Stamp Sets, when I say that I have an addiction I don’t tell lies! LOL! I’m looking forward to getting in there and making something! The fireworks were going off again last night and little Winston was scared but he stayed still long enough for a little picture too…

Now on to today’s card which I actually made a while ago. It was a just for fun card because I wanted to use the Owl Builder Punch! I haven’t used it ages to make an actual owl! The card begins with a base of Real Red Card Stock and the background is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Bermuda Bay. Next up is a piece of “Vintage” Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. The final layer is a piece of Whisper White that I drew a notebook page on with my Pool Party and Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers. All of the corners are rounded with the “Vintage” 3/16″ Corner Rounder. The owl is punched out with the Owl Builder Punch, his body is Smoky Slate, his eyes are Whisper White, Pool Party and Basic Black and his vest is another piece of Kaleidoscope DSP. The greeting is from the So Very Happy Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and cut out with the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. A piece of Pool Party is flagged and adhered behind it. The Owl and the greeting are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A happy birthday card that uses some of my favorite Designer Series Paper ever, Kaleidoscope! I hope that you enjoyed the pictures and the card for today. Modern Gold Feather Hello

Wow that was a long short week! Work was crazy busy yesterday, lots of last minute things to do. I also helped Nancy with her bike. Her and Nicole have their 75 mile bike ride today. I told her that I will miss her! LOL! I can’t even imagine doing that. I stop and think whether I want to drive 75 miles let alone ride! More power to them and I wish them the best of luck! I have lots of projects to make today, tomorrow is the Creation Station blog tour so be sure and come back for that. I also have to get ready for Monday! 😛

I was sitting at my desk last night browsing through the new Catalog and I keep seeing this one project in there that I love so I decided to do a little CASE of it. The card starts off with a base of Crumb Cake Card Stock and the background is a piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. I used two strips of paper from the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper Pack for the flags. A piece of Gold Foil Sheet has some holes punched out with a standard hole punch and happy accident, they lined up nicely with the dots on the DSP! The two feathers are Island Indigo and Basic Black, they are made using the Ovals Collection Framelits and my trusty Paper Snips. I tucked some Gold Sequin Trim behind them and adhered them to the card with Mini Glue Dots. My greeting is from the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Calypso Coral and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. I love the mix of colors with the gold and yes, I’m a bit obsessed with feathers! But you all know that! I hope you got some inspiration from today’s card and that you enjoyed it. Just Add Ink 216

Happy Friday peeps! For a 4 day week it sure seemed like 5! It was a gorgeous day here yesterday, sunny and cool. Work was busy, lots of last minute stuff to get done. I came home after work and yes, crafted for a little while. I also had some time to relax and just watch some TV. I have no big plans for the weekend, that’s good. I would like to try to go into the city at some point but I’m not sure if that will happen. I have a big milestone coming up on the blog on Monday, more details to follow!

I haven’t played along with the Just Add Ink challenge in a while so I went over to the blog to see what this week’s challenge was. It’s just add watercolor, sounds good to me!

I decided on a simple collage style card and I got to use one of my favorite little birds again! The card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Pool Party that I embossed using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Texture Boutique. They have had some issues with the Texture Boutique, it doesn’t emboss as deeply as it should. They are going to be sending out new plates to use with it stating in June. I find that the subtle embossing is sometimes neat so that’s what I did here. I stamped the Off the Grid Stamp in Versa-Mark on Watercolor Paper and then heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My Aqua Painter and some Crisp Cantaloupe Ink provide the color. I then used my Paper Snips to cut out the stamped image and some Fast Fix Adhesive holds it to the card. Yes, I think I have lost it, fussy cutting the Off the Grid Stamp, but I really like the way it looks! Three hexagon cut out from Coastal Cabana with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The little bird is from the Nature’s Hello Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold him in place too. A few sequins scattered around finish the card. I love the mix of colors and the simple eclectic feel of the card and hope that you do too! Paper Craft Crew 95

Wednesday already! I could really get used to Tuesday being Monday! I’m very happy that you like the three cards from yesterday. As Linda said, we are our own worst critic! It was a little on the muggy side here yesterday and they said it was going to rain today so most of my windows in my apartment were shut. Needless to say it was 88 degrees in the house when I got home. That’s a little warm! There was an awards night at Taylor’s school last night. Taylor received an award for being a model student! She also got to present two awards to teachers that made a difference in her life. It was really neat idea. After the school I came home and just relaxed, it was way too hot to do anything else. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow but it’s also supposed to get a little cooler, no complaints there!

If it’s Wednesday that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

A funky sketch indeed! I was a little puzzled when I first looked at it, I think once I got past the heart I was good! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Hello Honey embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the left and a piece of paper form the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack is on the right. The flower is from the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with my Paper Snips. After the leaves yesterday this was a breeze! LOL! That’s my favorite little bee from the Backyard Basics Stamp Set, he is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Hello Honey and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. The hello is from the Simply Celebrate Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits. I used the new Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce around the edge. My little chevrons are Blackberry Bliss and they are cut out with one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. I love that flower and I’m really going to miss my little bee! There is my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Mojo 347 & Pals Paper Arts 205

Technically it was a long weekend but they are never long enough even when they are three days! I did have a very nice time. Yesterday I went out to my brother’s for a BBQ and then came home and relaxed. It really is nice to just sit around for a bit, it never lasts very long though. I always get an itch to do something and that usually results in me sitting at my craft desk. I realized that I didn’t do my Pals Paper Arts card so I made one on Sunday night. Yesterday I decided that I didn’t like it so I made another one. I don’t usually post the cards that I don’t like but it will be at the end of today’s post and you can judge for yourself.

My first card is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Tall and skinny, my favorite! The base of the card is Coastal Cabana Card Stock. In the middle is a piece of Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Smoky Slate. The strip across the lower half is also Eastern Elegance DSP, I backed it with a piece of Crushed Curry to make it a little sturdier. The ribbon is Silver 1/8″ Ribbon. Tucked behind it is one of the images from the Happy Day Stamp Set stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. In the middle is one of the greetings from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set, stamped in Crushed Curry and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the whole panel to the card. One of the Basic Metal Buttons is added with a Mini Glue Dot on top of the ribbon and finishes off the card. I have neglected the Eastern Elegance DSP for a while and am glad I got to use it one more time before it goes “Vintage”!

Next up is my final card for the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

This cad is filled with new goodies! The base is Pistachio Pudding Card Stock and the background is a piece of Hello Honey that I embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The three panels are Lullaby Designer Series Paper backed with Baked Brown Sugar. All of the images are from the Nuts About You Host(ess) Stamp Set. The tree is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. Apparently I lost my mind a little because I stamped the tree again in Pistachio Pudding and fussy cut the leaves out. Nuts right?! (Goes with the name of the stamp set!) The bird is also cut out with my Paper Snips and is stamped in Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar. My greeting is also stamped in Coastal Cabana and adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I used the 3/4″ Circle Punch to punch out the other little bird, the greeting didn’t make much sense with just the one bird! LOL! The leaves were a lot of work but I think well worth it. I really hope that you enjoyed both cards for Mojo Monday and the Pals Paper Arts challenge. The other Pals Paper Arts card is at the end of the post, I’m sure you will see why I didn’t like it! Paper Players 197

Happy Memorial Day! Let’s not forget that not only does this mark the official start to the Summer season but we also need to remember the men and women that serve in our armed forces and protect our freedoms. It was just a beautiful day here yesterday. I went for a nice ride in the convertible, had some Subway for lunch and watched Red 2. I have been really into these action movies with lots of explosions lately. Hmm… wonder what that is about?! LOL! I’m supposed to go out to my brother’s for a BBQ today and who knows what else?! What fun festivities are you up to today?

I had a pretty good idea of what I was going to do when I first saw the sketch. My card base for today is Sahara Sand Card Stock. The strip of paper down the center is from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. I keep saying that it has great colors and awesome patterns and it does! My panel in the middle is a piece of Hello Honey backed with Blackberry Bliss. I cut the leaves out from Perfect Plum using the Little Leaves Sizzlit. The flowers are from the Petite Petals Stamp Set and are stamped in Blackberry Bliss and punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. My butterfly is from the Nature’s Hello Host(ess) Stamp Set and is also stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. 2-Way Glue holds the leaves and Mini Glue Dots and Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the flowers and butterfly in place. I used the Perfect Plum for the leaves because I thought that the lighter purple in the DSP looked like it. Love the fact that it looks a little like lattice too! I hope that you enjoyed my bright card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Doily Blossoms Lace Birthday

Sometimes playing it by ear is a good thing. I had a nice day yesterday filled with friends. Kim asked me to watch the munchkins for a bit while she ran to the store. Izzy and I sat and colored while Savannah sat in the laundry basket and played on the iPad. After that I went over to see Heather, She did something to her back so we went to the Dr. and then out to lunch. The evening was capped off by an impromptu BBQ and some wine. I came home and decided that I needed a little destruction so I watched A Good Day to Die Hard. The perfect movie when you want some explosions! LOL! Pretty good day huh?! What have you all been up to?!

Today I’m sharing with you a card that I made for my friend Danielle to send to her aunt. When I make a card for someone, especially someone that I know, I try to incorporate a little bit of them into the card, The base of the card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I stamped the Hello Doily Stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla in Soft Sky and then the greeting in Melon Mambo from the Simply Sketched Host(ess) Stamp Set. Across the middle is a piece of the 5/8″ Crochet Trim. I stamped a ticket from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set in Blushing Bride and punched it out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. The flagged piece is stamped with one of the stamps from The Open Sea Stamp Set in Lost Lagoon and one of the Very Vintage Designer Buttons with some Linen Thread tied in a bow is adhered on top of them with a Mini Glue Dot. Next up are three flowers and some leaves from the Stippled Blossoms Stamp Set. They are stamped in Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo for the flowers and Wild Wasabi and Always Artichoke for the leaves. Some Paper Snip action and Stampin’ Dimensionals help get them on the card. To finish it off I “scattered” some Basic Jewels Pearls. The card has a vintage feel but with a clean and modern twist just like the person that received it! I had fun making this card and love the way it came out and hope that you do too! Fab Friday 42

You have taken you sweet time getting here Friday, but I’m glad that you have finally arrived. And you are kind enough to bring with you an extra day off! It was gloomy here all day yesterday but didn’t rain until this morning. They have changed the wether and it’s supposed to be nice on Sunday and in the 80’s on Monday. That’s a much better outlook for the first official weekend of summer don’t you think?! I did have a nice evening, I met up with my friend Joe for a drink. He’s back to LA on Monday. I’ll have to see about going out there to see him I think!

The Friday is extra awesome because it’s a Fab Friday week! This time we have a fun color challenge for you…

I love it when we have colors that I wouldn’t think to put together! I decided that funky colors needed a funky card! Mine starts off with a base of Very Vanilla Card Stock. The strips of DSP down the left and across the lower half are both from the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper Pack. On top of the strip down the left is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. The rectangle is a piece of Pool Party that I stamped with one of the stamps from The Open Sea inked in Pool Party. My flower is from the Simple Stems Stamp Set and is stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits. For the greeting I used one of the stamps from the A Round Array Stamp Set inked in Summer Starfruit and punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. Finally, my little balloon is from the Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set and is also stamped in Summer Starfruit and cut out with my Paper Snips. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A little bit of collage feel but not cluttered. Like I said, I love using different fun color combos! Paper Players 195 & a Few Extras!

Happy Monday! Yes, happy because yesterday was such an amazingly gorgeous day here on Long Island. I mean perfect temperatures, in the low 70’s and the sun was shining, there was even a slight breeze. Just complete bliss! I went and met my friend Joe for breakfast. He is in town from Los Angeles for a bit. We went to the diner and then came back to my house and caught up. It was good to see him, it’s been over a year. He is here for a little bit longer so I hope to see him again before he goes back. After I went for a nice ride in the convertible and I did manage to craft for a bit and watched a little TV too. All in all an almost perfect day! Also, thank you all so much for your wonderful comments on both cards from yesterday’s post. I really appreciate you taking the time to write and I know that Andrew does too! I hope that your Sunday was just as amazing!

If you scroll to the bottom of the post you will see the cards that I made for my friend Danielle. They are all duplicates of ones I have made before. One is a recent one and the other two are from a long time ago. 🙂

Monday, yes, that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my talented friend Sandy has given us a color challenge with a great inspiration picture…

Paper Players #195

Today’s card is sort of a toned down collage card. I used only two stamp sets! I’m just as shocked as you are! LOL! The base is So Saffron Card Stock and I stamped the images from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set in So Saffron right on the base. A piece of Gold Foil Sheet cut out with the On Film Framelits is adhered to the base to frame a piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper that I punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. I stamped the image in the circle in Calypso Coral from the same set and punched it out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, it serves as the anchor for the rest of the goodies. The flowers are also from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set, I heat embossed them with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Calypso Coral and then cut them out with my Paper Snips. Some Pear Pizzaz cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit are tucked behind them. My greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is stamped in Pear Pizzaz. I cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits and also a piece of Gold Foil Sheet to back it. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. I think it’s a fun eclectic card and I love the gold accents, they go so nicely with the So Saffron and Calypso Coral.
