Freshly Made Sketches #89

Well hello Thursday, so nice to see you again. What are you guys up to? I got my new Catalog order last night and went over to my friend Sandy’s and we mounted stamps, chatted and laughed. It definitely made the stamp mounting go faster and I do love a little Sandy time! It was another gorgeous day here yesterday and the first half of today is supposed to be nice but the rain is to come later on and stay through Saturday. Looks like another crafty first half of the weekend!

Today’s post – Freshly Made Sketches #89, a sketch from Rita…

Freshly Made Sketches #89

A fun little square layout indeed! I needed to play with some new goodies so I used a few on this card. The base my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. For the background I used some Whisper White and stamped it with the new Off the Grid Stamp in Gumball Green. The main image and greeting are from the Perfect Blend Stamp Set. I love coffee so I was quite happy to see this really great set in the new catalog! The cup is stamped in Early Espresso and the sleeve in Gumball Green on Crumb Cake. I cut both out with my Paper Snips and adhered them to a base of Gumball Green that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It is backed with some Early Espresso and the flags are cut out with the Bitty Banner Framelits Dies and the new Big Shot Magnetic Platform which works great! Some Early Espresso Bakers Twine wrapped around the left side and tied in a bow finishes off the card. I really do love the new goodies that I used on the card, they may just be my favorites from the new catalog. The Gumball Green and Early Espresso just makes me want a Starbucks! Thank you so much for stopping by to see my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. I hope you have your coffee and have a great day! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 45

Hello there, thanks for stopping by today. How are you? I’m doing just fine. The weather here was beautiful yesterday and last night was perfect have the window open sleeping weather. I love when we actually get Spring weather instead of jumping right into Summer. What is going on in your neck of the woods? It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This week we have a fun little square sketch…

PCCCS045 Sketch 6-05-2013

When I looked at this I immediately had an idea what I was going to do! The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I used a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe stamped with the Woodgrain Background Stamp in Crisp Cantaloupe for the background. A piece of Island Indigo is cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit and on top of that is some Soho Subway Designer Series Paper, some are cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits, and there is also a strip. The greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set and is markered in Island Indigo so I could leave off the you. I cut it out with the Ovals Collection Framelits and used the Occasion Paper Piercing Pack to pierce around the edge. For the you I stamped the letters from the ABC & 123 Sketch Alphabet Stamp Set in Early Espresso and punched them out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. I like the way the letters take the place of the end of the greeting and the flowers in the sketch. Thanks again for stopping by to see my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. Head on over to the Paper Craft Crew blog to see what the rest of the team is up to and enter your card in the gallery. Have a crafty day! 🙂

SUO Challenges #72

Hello, and how are we today? Did we all make it through Monday ok?! I was lucky enough to get through unscathed. It was pouring here this morning and then the rain stopped and it was just muggy and soup like. Not the best hair day! LOL! It’s nice and cool out this morning! My friend Cynthia asked me to post a picture of the venue that I saw the Pitbull concert at on Saturday so here you go…

Jones Beach Theater

Luckily our seats were far enough away to get a good shot of the stage with the water behind it! LOL!

Today I have my Design Team card for SUO Challenges. This time around the theme is weddings so I happily broke out my Best of Brides and Babies Stamp Set. The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock that I cut to 11″ x 3 3/4″. A piece of Basic Black is flagged on the bottom and goes down the middle. I used the Floral Frames Collection Framelits Dies to cut out the background image which is from the Daydream Medallions Stamp Set and is stamped in Smokey Slate. The main image is stamped in Basic Black and is mounted on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I haven’t made a paper bow in a while and I thought it would be the perfect addition to the top. I used Smokey Slate for the bow and adhered it with some Sticky Strip. I love the mix of grays and black the image cut out with the Floral Framelits makes a nice change. Thank you for taking some time out of your day to come by and see my card for this week’s SUO Challenges Wedding themed challenge. Make sure to stop by the blog and see what my comrades have for you and make one for us to see and upload it to the gallery. Have an interesting Tuesday! 🙂

Mojo 296

Monday, Monday, back again. How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was pretty good, I went into Manhattan yesterday and had brunch with my friend Kim at the great Mexican Restaurant called MolĂ©. We had breakfast sandwiches that were delicious and they came with fries, who doesn’t love fries, especially seasoned ones! It’s rainy here this morning and is supposed to be all day but it’s still supposed to be in 70’s so not too bad.

Today’s post – Mojo Monday 296, a sketch from Julee Tilman…

Mojo296

I got up a little early this morning and decided to see how early morning creativity worked! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. The background and the strip of paper across the lower half are from the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper Pack. A strip of Daffodil Delight and a strip of Island Indigo go down the left side. The stamped images are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set, stamped in Basic Gray on Melon Mambo, and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies. For the greeting I used the A Round Array Stamp Set and stamped it in Night of Navy. The 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch punches out the greeting and I backed it with a piece of Night of Navy punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. Some Brights Designer Buttons (Vintage) Finish off the card on the left. I really like the colors in the Gingham Garden DSP, don’t you? Thanks for coming by to see my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card, I appreciate your visit and hope that you have a great day! 🙂

Paper Players #148 :-)

So how was your Saturday? It was a very nice day here yesterday, warm and sunny. I went to see Pitbull and Ke$ha last night at Jones Beach Theater. It is one of my favorite places to see a concert. It’s an outdoor amphitheater right on the water, in fact the stage is in the water! Pitbull was awesome, high energy and a great show. I was surprised that Ke$ha was pretty good too! They had a DJ in between and he was great too! All in all a very nice night!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players. This time we have a theme challenge from the superb Jaydee…

Paper Players #148 Theme Summer 6-02-2013

Summer! I pondered about what stamps to use for a while and then I remembered a “Vintage” one that is the perfect image of summer. The base of my card is Pacific Point Card Stock. The background is a piece of Tangerine Tango and before I adhered it to the card I put a little piece of the Gingham Garden Washi Tape in the upper right. The image is the “Vintage” Sail Away Stamp and I stamped it in Pacific Point and backed it with some Daffodil Delight. The greeting is from the Pursuit of Happiness Stamp Set that will be “Vintage” as of Monday. I used another soon to be “Vintage” product, a Brights Collection Designer Button with a piece of Tangerine Tango in the middle. It sort of reminded me of the sun so it went with the greeting. I think the sail away image with the sketched sail boat and seagulls is perfect for summer, don’t you? Thank you so very much for stopping by to see my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s Summer Theme challenge from Jaydee. Head on over to the Paper Players blog and check out the other awesome designers cards and enter on of yours in the gallery. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Saturday, what a nice day indeed! How are you all faring after your short week? I’m doing well. it was hot and humid here yesterday and we are in for more of the same today. Not complaining, just sharing! Did you all get to place your new catalog orders yesterday?! I did and soon I will have some more fun goodies to feed my creative outlet. I’m off to Jones Beach Theater to see Pitbull & Ke$ha tonight with Heather. I’m a big fan of Pitbull but poor Ke$ha looks like she rolls right out of the dumpster onto the stage. It should be a good night! 🙂

Today’ post – Create with Connie and Mary Colors…

Ahh, Pool Party and Island Indigo, two of my faves! I wanted a nice clean card and I think that’s just what I got. The base of my card is So Saffron Card Stock. A strip of “Vintage” Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper and a piece of Pool Party that is embossed with the Modern Mosaic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder are each flagged and on the right side. Next, a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the Label Love Stamp Set and punched out with the Artisan Label Punch. The center greeting is from the A Round Array Stamp Set and is punched out with the 7/8′ Scallop Circle Punch. Both are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. This is a great quick card and would be good for so many different occasions. I love the layout and the simplicity! Thank you for visiting me today to see my Create with Connie and Mary card for this week’s Color Challenge. I hope that you have a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. 🙂

Now on to today’s post which is my Fab Friday Design Team card. This time we have a rather neat sketch…

Fab Fri 19 Sketch 5-31-2013

This was one of those ones that I knew what I was going to use as soon as I saw it! Love when that happens! The base of my card is Island Indigo Card Stock. I used a piece of paper from the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper Pack and backed it with some Gumball Green. The circle is punched out from the 2 1/2″ Circle punch and backed with some Early Espresso. I choose the images form the Fine Feathers Stamp Set and stamped them in Island Indigo and Gumball Green. The greeting is from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set and is flagged and backed by some Early Espresso. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals give it a little pop. I love the Island Indigo and Gumball Green together. I think the Gumball tones down the Indigo while the Indigo gives the gumball some oomph. Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Design Team card for the sketch from Fab Friday. Freshly Made Sketches #88

Hey, hey! Welcome to Thursday! Yesterday was a nice day here, a little muggy but warm and sunny. One of my co-workers told me that it was always nice to see me because I’m always smiling and genuinely nice. I thought that was a very cool impression to give to people and it was very nice to be told something so sweet. Sometimes a nice comment can make your day even brighter!

Today’s post – Freshly Made Sketches #88 from Jen M….

Freshly Made Sketches #88

Sweet and simple! The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I used a piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper across the lower half. The middle panel is made up of a piece of Very Vanilla that I punched the left edge of with the “Vintage” Spiral Border Punch. A sticker from the Epic Day This & That Sticker Sheets is in the middle and I also used one that I backed with some Very Vanilla on the top. The greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set* and is stamped in Calypso Coral and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. I made a larger ticket to back it using the 1/2″ Circle Punch. I like the simple layout and I love the Epic Day goodies. Thank you for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. One more day and it’s Friday so make today a good one!

Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzaz and Blushing Bride along with a new color Smokey Shadow. They have also moved some colors to different families and of course they are retiring some colors. Paper Craft Crew #44 & Sneak Peek

Well, Wednesday already, that’s pretty nice! I think every Monday should be a holiday! How are things by you? Things here are good, it rained all afternoon today but we are moving along to a heat wave for the rest of the week. We are supposed to get up into the 90’s by Friday. Once again no real buffer between the seasons. It felt like October here on Saturday and a week later we are in Florida!

Today’s post – Paper Craft Crew Design Team Sketch #44…

PCCCS044 Sketch Theme FD 5-29-2013

A cute little sketch that at first I thought a window would be a good way to go but that was too obvious. The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. The background is a piece of Raspberry Ripple that I stamped with the Woodgrain Background Stamp in Raspberry Ripple. The next layer is some Soft Suede that is embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with some Very Vanilla. All of the images that are punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch are from the new Postage Collection Host(ess) Stamp Set* (can you tell it’s one of my favorites?!). Across the bottom is some paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack with some Raspberry Ripple 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon. The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and fits with the theme of Father’s Day for this week’s sketch. I really am quite fond of the Postage Collection Set* and I’m loving the colors! Thank you for stopping by to see my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch. I hope you’ll take some time to check out what the other designers have for you over at the blog and upload a card of your own so wee can take a peek. Enjoy your Wednesday everyone! 🙂

Memorable Apothecary Thoughts Special Occasion

Hello there! Even though the weekend was a three day one for me it still seemed to fly. I did get a lot accomplished and spent some time relaxing and seeing friends. I got to watch the two little munchkins Izzy and Savannah yesterday and then went back over for a BBQ in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day here, not too hot and nice and sunny. All in all a very nice weekend indeed. Now if only we could get a three day weekend every week! LOL!

Today I have a card and frame that I made for a friend at work. It’s his parent’s 60th wedding anniversary. Wow! 60 years together, that’s quite an incredible feat. He asked if I could make him a card for them, he said that he hear that I made nice cards. I said that I would be happy to. I also got to scan in their wedding album and there was this photo that I saw and I knew that I wanted to do something to it. I knew just what I was going to do too.

For the card I started with a base of Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock and rounded the bottom corners. The stamped image is from the Apothecary Art Stamp Set and is stamped three times, once in Costal Cabana*, again in Crisp Cantaloupe* and one more time in Smokey Slate*. The Costal Cabana* one is cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and backed with a piece of Brushed Silver Specialty Card Stock. For the Crisp Cantaloupe* one I fussy cut the wreath out and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Smokey Slate* is just the banner and I heat embossed the greeting from Loving Thoughts Stamp Set with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and adhered it with more Dimensionals. The 60th is from the Memorable Moments Stamp Set and is stamped in Costal Cabana* and fussy cut too. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones finish the card.

The frame has an antiqued silver finish. I printed the photo out on photo paper and then printed it again and just cut out the invitation. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals pop up the invitation to give it some depth. The flowers are just simple ribbon flowers that I picked up at the craft store and individually glued them to the picture. They matched the flowers that were in his mother’s bouquet perfectly. I thought it was a nice way to give the picture some added depth and sentimental value. Below is the whole frame and a close up of the flowers.

The person asked me how much I wanted for the card and I said let it be my gift to your parents. He said that my gift was being kind enough to share my talent with others. I can’t explain how great that made me feel. He really like the card and the frame. I was very to happy to have been able to make such an important card, one that I probably won’t get to make again. I hope that you enjoyed seeing both of the projects and that you are inspired to do something a little different once in a while, it can be a lot of fun! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!
