Fab Friday 39

Ahh… I love it when I get up in the morning and realize that it’s Friday, it makes whole day instantly better! We are supposed to get some rain today but it should be in the 60’s so I’m fine with that. Yesterday was an average day, not too busy and after work was relaxing. Saw Andrew for a bit, watched some TV, a nice relaxing evening. Not a bad way to prepare for Friday! This weekend should be easy too. Haircut on Saturday, Manhattan on Sunday morning and taking the parents to the airport on Sunday evening. What are all of you up to this weekend?

Today is a great Friday also because it’s Fab Friday! And this time around we have a simple sketch for you…

Fab Fri 39 Sketch 4-11-2014

After yesterday’s nice, bold card, I decided a subtle one was in order for today. I would even go as far as to say it’s monochromatic. My card base is a piece of Smoky Slate Core’dinations Card Stock. I always forget to use it, but I really like the linen look of the paper when you don’t do anything to it. In the bottom right corner, I stamped my greeting in Basic Black which came from the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set.  Next up is a small piece of Modern Medley Designer Series Paper and on top of that to the right is a piece of Brushed Silver Card Stock. My main image is also from the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set which I stamped in Basic Black and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I really like the modern, dimensional look of the Dahlia stamp. The lines give it a lot of perspective and it’s a very nice addition to any card and the size is great because it really grabs your attention. I also need to remember to use the Core’dinations Card Stock more often because I really do like the textured look that it has. A Fab Friday is always a good Friday! I hope you enjoyed my simple card for this week’s sketch. Click HERE to go to the Fab Friday blog and see what the rest of the Design Team has for your inspiration and don’t forget to upload your card to the gallery! As always, your visit is greatly appreciated and I hope your day goes by quickly and your weekend gets off to a great start! 🙂

Mojo 340

It was another very nice day here again yesterday. The temperature got up into the low 60’s and the sun was out all day. After that Winter I’m really appreciating the nice weather! Work was busy but I did get to take a field trip to one of my favorite places, the Apple Store. I had to pick up an iMac for the COO. After work I went to my parents for dinner and my brother, his wife and little Daniel were there. He really is just the cutest, happiest little guy. He has a great smile and laughs all the time. Taylor was there too and she got a tattoo for her birthday of Zero from the Nightmare Before Christmas, her favorite movie. After, I came home and crafted for a bit and attempted to get my stuff together for my taxes, it just dawned on me that I only have 5 days left! LOL!

My post for today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch from Julee Tilman…

Mojo340

I decided that I wanted to make a card that only used Photopolymer Stamps. The new ones in the last two Paper Pumpkin kits are Photopolymer so I included them too! I also wanted to use some different colors. My card starts off with a base of Daffodil Delight Card Stock and the background is a piece of Chocolate Chip. My tilted panel is Very Vanilla and the chevron stamp is from last month’s Paper Pumpkin kit. I stamped it in Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango on opposite sides of the top and bottom. A piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is adhered around the back and then I adhered the panel to the card base with SNAIL. The three circles are from the February Paper Pumpkin kit and are also stamped in Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango. I cut the large circle out with the Circles Collection Framelits, I originally used the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch but there was a white border around the circle that just didn’t fit with the look of the card. The other two circles are punched out with the 1 3/8″ and 1″ Circle Punches. The greeting is from the Show and Tell 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip on a piece of Daffodil Delight which I flagged the right side of before adhering it and the circles to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A Brights Collection Designer Button adhered to the ribbon with a Mini Glue Dot finishes off the card. I really like the retro feel of the card which I attribute to the colors. Often times I take color inspiration from a DSP, but I was proud of myself for coming up with a funky color combination! I hope you are inspired to try some different color combinations yourself and that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I appreciate your visit and hope that you have an amazing day!

Paper Craft Crew 88

Monday seems just a distant memory now that we are at Wednesday! LOL! We finished moving at work today. That was definitely more fun than any one person should ever have in one day! NOT! Did I mention that my new office has a glass wall? I feel like Im’ in a fish tank! I’m going to see if I can find some fish window clings to put on the glass! Enough whining about work, it was rainy this morning but the sun cam out in the afternoon and it went up into the 60’s! I got to go outside without a jacket! Pure bliss I tell you! Andrew stopped by after work and we did some more business cards. They will be in Boston this weekend for the BOSS event. They were even asked to perform! Wish them luck!

Today I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge. This week’s sketch has a tag, we know how I love those…

PCCCS088 4-09-2014

I strayed from the sketch ever so slightly, just with the sentiment. The base of the my card is Pool Party Card Stock and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake that I stamped with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Crumb Cake Ink. My two strips of Designer Series Paper and the butterfly are from the Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper Pack. For my tag I used a piece of Calypso Coral that I stamped with the Positively Chevron Background Stamp in Calypso Coral and punched it out with the Angled Tag Topper Punch. The greeting is from the Chalk Talk stamp set and is stamped in Gumball Green and cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it at an angle on to the tag. The flower is from the Petite Petals Stamp Set and is stamped in Daffodil Delight and punched out with the Petite Petals Punch and adhered to the card with a Mini Glue Dot. The butterfly is punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch and adhered to the card with a Mini Glue Dot as well. Some Basic Jewels Pearls in the middle of the flower and the butterfly along with a piece Linen Thread through the top of the tag complete the card. It’s been a while since I used the Epic Day This and That DSP. I forgot how much I like the colors and the distressed look of the paper. Take a minute to pop on over to the Paper Craft Crew blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has come up with and enter your card in the gallery too so we can see how you interpreted the sketch! Thanks so much for stopping by for my mid-week post! I hope you have a very happy Hump Day! 🙂

SUO Challenges 94

I do try every week but I’m just not a fan of Monday’s. It started out as a nice sunny day but by 10:00am it was overcast and a little chilly. Work was busy in the morning and then we had a forum at the Carlyle. I did the A/V set up and of course the place didn’t have their sound set up correctly. Never a dull moment! LOL! After work was much better, dinner then card class and Andrew stopped by after. The end of the day was much better than the start, that’s for sure!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog and this time around our theme is Easter…

Screen Shot 2014-04-07 at 10.51.13 PM

I have done a couple of Easter projects recently and I wanted this one to be simple but fun. The base of my card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock and the background is a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper backed by a piece of Tangerine Tango. I took one of the Tea Lace Paper Doilies and sponged it with some Gumball Green and adhered it to the background, cutting a piece of the left side off. The tag is a piece of Whisper White that I punched with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch. Across the bottom I used my Fringe Scissors and some Gumball Green to make some “grass”. My greeting comes from the Eggstra Spectacular Stamp Set and is stamped on the tag in Basic Black. A piece of Daffodil Delight Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon goes through the top and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. Like I said, simple but fun! I really like the sponged doily, it creates a nice break between the tag and the DSP. So there you have my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Easter theme. Take some time to pay a visit to the blog and see what the other talented designers have for your inspiration and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your Easter card! Thanks as always for stopping by today, have a terrific Tuesday!

Paper Players 190

Not a bad Sunday if I do say so myself! I did some crafty stuff in the morning and some laundry. Met Heather for lunch and some errands. They make an excellent tuna wrap at the deli on Central Avenue in Bethpage so we went there and sat outside! Yes, I said sat outside! It was definitely a plus!! After some errands we went back to Heather’s and we listened to some music while she made sauce from scratch. I’m a little obsessed with Zedd at the moment. He’s a DJ but he also does acoustic versions of his songs with live instruments. You can learn more about him HERE. What kind of fun stuff were you up to today?!

It’s Monday and you know what that means, it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge! This week LeAnne has given us a “Three-Spree” challenge…

Paper Players #190

I had a little more fun with my E-Cutter on today’s card. The base of my card is Bermuda Bay Card Stock. On top of that is the background piece, some Pool Party, which I popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals because I cut the “HELLO” out with my E-Cutter and placed some Gold Foil Sheet behind the open letters. The cool thing is that hone I cut out the letters, it also cut out the perfectly sized piece of Card Stock that I needed to use as a background. The feathers are also cut out with the E-Cutter from the Feathered Woodcuts Digital Download from Bermuda Bay. I stamped them in Versa-Mark with one of the stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set and heat embossed them with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A piece of Linen Thread is wrapped around the card and threaded through a Naturals Designer Button and tied in a bow. I finished off the card with some gold and “Bermuda Bay” sequins placed around the card. Following the challenge, I have three feathers and three of each of the sequins; since there are two types of sequins, I have three sets of three objects placed on the card. Challenge accomplished! LOL! For those of you that haven’t tried the E-Cutter, I hope my card has inspired you to experiment. The possibilities are endless and it’s a fun addition to your card-making arsenal. I hope you’ve enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Player’s challenge! Thanks as always for stopping by, and I hope your week gets off to a great start! 🙂

Beautiful Musical Doily Silhouette

Yesterday was a nice day here, it was in the high 50’s and just windy but the sun was out all day. I made some projects in the morning and then went out with Heather for a good part of the day. We ran some errands and even braved IKEA which is a zoo on the weekends. I got some new under-cabinet lighting for the kitchen and a few other odds and ends. I came home and worked on some more projects and finished the evening with a visit from Andrew, always a nice way to end the day. It’s supposed to be nice again today here, maybe even top down nice! How is your weekend going? What have you been up to?

Today I have a card that made a little while ago. It’s one that I was just sitting there playing around with different things and it just came together. I really have been loving the heat embossing lately and I enjoy mixing all different elements together to see if they work. My card starts off with a base of Midnight Muse Card Stock. The background is a piece of Pool Party and all but one of my stamps is stamped on it. Across the bottom is the Music Notes Stampin’ Around Builder Wheel stamped in Baked Brown Sugar. Up in the left corner is the Hello, Doily Stamp also stamped in Baked Brown Sugar. The leaves are from the Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set and are heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I like the way that some of it is around the edge of doily too. The sweet and hugs are from the Countless Saying 1 & 2 Photopolymer Stamp Sets and are stamped in Midnight Muse. For the greeting I used the A Round Array Stamp Set and stamped it in Midnight Muse on a piece of Blushing Bride and punched it out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. It’s backed with a piece of Midnight Muse that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits and they are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally, I used the Beautiful Wings Embosslit to cut out my butterflies from some Gold Foil Sheet and adhered them with little pieces of Sticky Strip. I love the colors, especially when I can make a card without using any White or Vanilla and the mix of stamps is eclectic but I think it all goes together nicely. You’ll have to let me know what you think! I really hope that you enjoyed my “just for fun” card today! I thank you for taking some time to visit me and hope that you have an excellent day! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 198

FACT: My favorite cup of coffee is definitely the first one of the day! 🙂 Hello peeps and welcome to Saturday! I had a rough day at work yesterday, we moved offices and that was way more work than it needed to be. I’m not loving my new space but it’s temporary because we are moving again in October to a brand new space. Why just move once when you can do it twice?! I did have a very relaxing evening at home last night. I watched a couple of movies on HBO and crafted for bit. It was rainy and chilly here yesterday so I had no desire to go anywhere. A nice quiet evening at home was just what I needed after my busy week! How was the start to your weekend?

This week over at the Pals Paper Arts they have a color challenge. I love when I see one of those and think hmmm…

PPA 198

After a little pondering I saw stars! LOL! I also made my card skinny (3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″) so I could let the sentiment hang off the side and it still will fit inside a standard envelope. The base of today’s card is Old Olive Card Stock. My background is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped some images from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Pool Party on. For the greeting I heat embossed one from the Four Your Stamp Set in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Old Olive and cut it out with the Word Bubbles Framelits Dies. The stars are from the Simply Stars Stamp Set and are stamped in Summer Starfruit and cut out with my Paper Snips. Three more stars are punched out from some Summer Starfruit with the Merry Minis Punch Pack. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. So, after finishing my card I really do like the color combination! The greeting heat embossed on the Old Olive is definitely my favorite element on the card. I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. You know how much I appreciate you coming by to see what I’m up to and I hope that you have an excellent Saturday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 130

Yes people… it’s FRIDAY!! I did get to leave work early yesterday, at 3:00, and I was home and napping by 3:15! I woke up around 4:30 and went to my parents to get Winston and came back home and dropped him off because I had to go and pick my friend Chantal up from the train station. We went to Friday’s for dinner and then came back to my house and caught up. I haven’t seen her in a few months and that’s way too long! We had a very nice evening and have promised to have dinner once a month from now on. I have no plans tonight so maybe it will be a movie night! What are you doing to get your weekend started?!

My post for today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Linda…

Freshly Made Sketches #130

I got my inspiration from my comforter, I look at it all the time and for some reason I just had to make a card using the colors in it…

FMS 130 Insp

My card is very simple and has a sort of ombre look to it. The base is a piece of Island Indigo Card Stock and the background, a piece of Whisper White. I backed another piece of Whisper White with some Bermuda Bay to create the frame for my sentiments. They are from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set and are stamped in Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana, I cut them out with my Paper Snips and adhered them with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. Before I adhered the panel to the card I put a piece of Retro Fresh This & That Designer Washi Tape down. The ampersand is from the same set and is stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with my Paper Snips and also mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Like I said a very simple card that pulls all of it’s colors from the comforter! Let me know atht you thought of today’s card by leaving me a comment! Thanks very much for coming by to see what I’m up to and have an awesome Friday! 🙂

Yes, my post is quite early today and that’s because I need to be at one of our other work locations at 6:30! That’s a little early even for me to actually be at work! Hopefully that will mean that I will be getting out early too. I had a lovely evening last night with Heather. We had some Subway for dinner and the headed over to the movies to see Divergent. I haven’t read the books yet but after seeing the movie I think I’m going to have to, I really enjoyed it and so did Heather. I don’t know if I can wait until the next one comes out, that’s why I’m going to have to read the books! 🙂

As promised today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge from Julee Tilman…

Mojo339

I do love the tall skinny sketches, I’m going to have to keep the size in mind when just making a regular card too! My card starts with a base of Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. Across the top is a piece of Coastal Cabana that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, I used the reverse side of it, I like it a little better that way! My two strips of paper are from the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper Pack, it was hard for me not to back them with something but I managed! LOL! For the greeting I used the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set. I stamped the image in Tangerine Tango and cut it and a piece of So Saffron out with the Chalk Talk Framelits. I stamped the image again in Coastal Cabana and cut out just the “i can’t” with my Paper Snips and popped it up on a Stampin’ Dimensionals. More of them are used to adhere the greeting to the card. The arrows on the top left and the camera are from the Peachy Keen Stamp Set, the camera is stamped in Coastal Cabana and the arrows in Tangerine Tango. I used the On Film Framelits to cut out the arrows and Paper Snips for the camera. A piece of Silver Foil Sheet punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack creates the lens on the camera. And there you have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch. I really love the colors and patterns in the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper, they are just fun! I thank you very much for coming by to see me today and I hope that you have a very good Thursday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 87

I’m very happy to report that the weather here yesterday was quite nice, we got into the high 50’s! That feels a lot better than the low teens! After work I stopped by my parents to get Winston and see little Daniel, he’s still just as cute! I stopped home and started a card and then went over to my friends Brian and Kim’s for taco night! Heather was there too. I love taco night, it’s so much fun and the tacos are always delicious! It’s always great to see the little princesses too! I came home and finished my card and had some coffee. I drink about 6-8 cups of coffee a day and most of them after I get home! Sometimes I wish it had the desired effect and kept me up up but I think that I’m immune to it! LOL! What were you all up to?

It’s Wednesday so that means I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for our sketch this week…

As soon as I saw the sketch I knew exactly what Stamp Set and Designer Series Paper I wanted to use. The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock and the background is a piece of Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper along with the large flag. The large stamped image is from the Tea Party Stamp Set and is stamped once in Pear Pizzaz and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits and again in Wisteria Wonder. I cut out the tea cup with my Paper Snips and adhered it to the Pear Pizzaz one with a Stampin’ Dimensional. It’s backed it with a piece of Crushed Curry cut out with the same Framelits and adhered that to the card also with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The small flag at the top is Soft Suede cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits and some Wisteria Wonder is punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. In the lower right is a greeting from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Suede and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. The large flower is from the Petite Petals Stamp Set, stamped in Wisteria Wonder and punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. A few Basic Jewels Pearls in the middles of all of the flowers completes the card. I do love the Tea Party Stamp Set and don’t use it enough! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Stop by the blog and see what the rest of the team has come up with and enter your card in the gallery so we can see what you do with the sketch. Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂
