Paper Craft Crew 65

And here we are at Wednesday again… work, not a lot of fun lately, but I did have a nice evening after I left work. I went over to see my friend Sandy, we had a nice dinner and got to catch up. I don’t see Sandy nearly as much as I’d like to, but we’ll have to remedy that in the future. I came home, met my friend Andrew and went to the gym. All in all, it was a nice way to spend my after work time.

It’s Wednesday, as I have mentioned, and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge. This week we have a simple sketch for you…

PCCCS065 10-30-2013

The layout of the sketch gives you quite a few possibilities. I decided I needed to use one of my new stamp sets that I got during the 25% off promotion. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. On the bottom half, there is a piece of paper from the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper Pack. Above that is a piece of paper from the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper Pack and along the bottom is a piece of Real Red that I punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. Across the middle is a piece of Very Vanilla 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon. My stamped image/greeting is from the Crazy, Mixed-Up Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out and backed it with a piece of Chocolate Chip. The hearts are cut out with the Fashionable Hearts Embosslit and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I decided the card needed a little something more along the bottom, so I cut out a piece of Real Red with the Expressions Thinlits Dies and adhered it with 2-Way Glue. I love when you can use a seasonal Designer Series Paper for something other than it was intended and the Thinlits are by far my favorite product! Thank you very much for stopping by to see my Paper Craft Crew Design Team Card for this week’s sketch challenge. Take some time and head on over to the blog to see what the other designers have done with the sketch, and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on it as well! Have a happy Hump Day!

Today was a busy day at work and a quiet evening at home. I do like it when not too much is going on when I get home, it’s definitely a rarity. I got to sit down and make my card and play around with some other ideas that were floating around in my head. Did some more blog research and started planning what I am going to do for my video. I had a some people ask about the mask that I used for yesterday’s card so here is a picture of it…

Sunburst Mask

I used a ruler to draw lines and then my Paper Snips to cut out the sections. It is 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, just right for a card front. I like it made out of the Window Sheet, I can keep reusing it!

Now on to my card. My inspiration for today’s post is this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch challenge. This week’s sketch is provided by none other than Julee Tilman…

Mojo317

Round or Square… there seems to be a lot of round on the card itself! I pondered my card for a while and as soon as I saw past the circles it all came together. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is two pieces of paper from the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack mounted to a piece of Bermuda Bay with a strip of Bermuda Bay across the middle. I embossed a piece of Smoky Slate with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Folder and adhered it slightly off center. My snowflakes are from the Festive Flurry Stamp Set, inked with Versa-Mark and heat embossed with Pool Party and Whisper White Stampin’ Emboss Powder onto Vellum Card Stock. The Festive Flurry Framelits Dies cut them out perfectly and some carefully placed SNAIL holds them to the card. I choose the greeting from the Tags 4 You Stamp Set. I stamped it in Bermuda Bay and punched it out with the Label Bracket Punch, a Stampin’ Dimensional holds it in place. I love the way heat embossing looks on Vellum and the colors are some of my favorites! Thanks very much for paying me a visit today to see my Mojo Monday card for this week’s sketch challenge. Make today the best Tuesday ever! 🙂

Paper Players 169

Greetings peeps! How was the rest of your weekend? My Sunday was nice and quiet. I ran to Target in the morning with my friend Heather and then I spent the rest of the day crafting and running errands. I do love Sundays when they are like that. I didn’t have time to put together a video this weekend but I will eventually get to it! I did take another step towards moving my blog to the hosted account. Sometime in the next few weeks, when I have a minute or two, I will complete the transition. LOL! Probably later rather than sooner. I will keep you posted.

It’s Monday so that means it’s Paper Players time! This week we have a fun sketch from the lovely Anne Marie…

Paper Players #169

I was playing around with the “shimmer spritz” that I made the other day again. I also made a sunburst mask out of a Window Sheet. I thought that would be better because then I can reuse it. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. My main panel is a piece of Whisper White that I spritzed my sunburst on using the mask and I backed it with a piece of Brushed Gold and Bermuda Bay. Next up is my strip of Bermuda Bay that I heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder using a stamp from the Background Builders Stamp Set. I tucked three Brushed Gold flags that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits under the left side. My ornament is from the Ornament Keepsakes Stamp Set, I heat embossed it with Gold and cut it out with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits. Three “Vintage” Metallic 3/16″ Brads backed with Bermuda Bay are up in the left corner. My greeting is stamped in Bermuda Bay and is from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set. The pictures don’t really show you how nice and shimmery the sunburst is and I really like the gold and Bermuda Bay together. I know, I have been using a lot of gold lately, we all have phases right?!?! Thanks for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. I hope you enjoyed the card and that your day is pretty awesome! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 177

Yesterday turned out just as planned! I went into Manhattan to take my friend Kim home and my friend Andrew (the one that made the card) came along. We had some lunch at the diner. After lunch we left Kim and headed Downtown. We made stops at the Apple Store 5th Avenue (The Cube) and then headed over to Park Avenue to walk over to Grand Central Terminal. The middle island in the street on Park Avenue has been host to some really great art. The following are pictures of two of the metal sculptures that are currently on display by artist Albert Paley. You can read more about him here.

Park Ave Sculpture 1

Park Ave Sculpture 2

The first one looks like a tree to me and the second one looks a little like a caterpillar. After that we stopped by the Apple Store in Grand Central and then took the subway down to Chinatown and wandered around there for a while. I was home by 8:00 and Taylor and I watched Now you See Me which was pretty good. Definitely a very good day!

My post for today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This time we have a sketch from the MDS wonder Nicole Watt…

PPA 177

I love it! Nice and simple. I just got some new goodies so I decided to use them on my card. The base of the card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. The next layer is a piece of Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock. The top panel is another piece of Midnight Muse and I used the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set and some Encore Metallic Silver ink to stamp the snowflakes. To give them a frosty look I heat embossed them with some Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The greeting is stamped in Midnight Muse on Sahara Sand and I flagged the right side. I really like the way the Encore Metallic Silver Ink looks with the Clear Embossing Powder over the top. Thank you for coming by today to see my Manhattan pictures and my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. I love to have you stop by and I hope you have a lovely Sunday! 🙂

Just Add Ink 188

Yesterday I managed to sneak out of work early. My friend Kim was coming in from Manhattan to stay with me for the night, and I desperately needed to straighten up my house. I managed to get most of the stuff done that I wanted to accomplish, and I picked Kim up from the train station at 6:40. She came out to go with me to my friends Brian and Kim’s daughter’s 1st and 3rd birthday party. It was optional costumes, so I wore a Batman shirt with a cape velcroed on the back. We had a good time, and it was great to see all my friends. Today, I will take Kim home later and my friend Andrew will join me because him and I will go for a long walk in the city, and I will see if can take some pictures for you to show you tomorrow.

The inspiration for today’s card comes from this week’s Just Add Ink challenge. They have asked us to just add grunge…

JAI Grunge 188

The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock and the background is a piece of the Birch Paper from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit. I backed it with a piece of Chocolate Chip to make it sturdier and I wrapped a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon around the lower half. It’s mounted to the Midnight Muse card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The leaf is from a pair of old jeans and I cut it out with the Autumn Accents Bigz Die and adhered to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. I chose the greeting from the Harvest of Thanks Stamp Set and stamped it in Crushed Curry, cut it out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies and adhered it to the Burlap Ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the leaf cut from the jeans and the thanks definitely gives it the grunge without making the whole card look dirty. I appreciate you stopping by to see my card for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge. Thank you very much, and have a super Saturday!

Freshly Made Sketches 109

Ready… set… it’s FRIDAY!! LOL! I do get rather excited at the prospect of the weekend don’t I?! Yesterday was back to busy at work but I knew that would happen. I went to the gym straight after work and am actually really enjoying it. After I came home I puttered around in the craft area and made a few things. That’s always my favorite way to end the day! I’m still not sure what I’m doing about the blog, I will keep you posted.

For today’s card I have my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge from Jen M….

Freshly Made Sketches #109

A SUPER simple sketch wouldn’t you say?! I have done my best to keep my card as clean as possible. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is a piece of Primrose Petals that I embossed with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My main panel is a piece of Primrose Petals that I backed with a piece of Very Vanilla and a piece of Vellum Card Stock. I cut the love out with the Expressions Thinlits Dies from Gold Foil Sheet and adhered it with 2-Way Glue. I also used some more Gold Foil Sheet to cut out two butterflies with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. I like the change of backing the darker card stock with vanilla and I do love some vellum! Thanks for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! You guys rock!! I hope that you enjoy your Friday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 64

Yup, it’s Wednesday, halfway there! Yesterday was nice, my boss took my department out to lunch for our hard work that we put into making the Gala on Friday a success. We had some burgers and a very nice time. The weather here is supposed to change today, it’s going to get a lot cooler and rain… boo. Well, it is October so I guess it’s time.

Today I have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge and here is the sketch…

PCCCS064 10-23-2013

This was one of those times that I had an idea as soon as I saw the sketch, love when that happens! The base of the card is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. A piece of paper from the Etcetera Designer Series Paper Pack is used for the background with some Old Olive across the bottom and a piece of Very Vanilla cut out with the Tasteful Trims Bigz XL Die. The main panel is a piece of Very Vanilla backed by Pool Party. The reindeer is from the Warmth and Wonder Host(ess) Stamp Set. All of the other images are from the A Banner Christmas Stamp Set, the Merry is cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The HO-cubed is punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch and the snowflakes with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. A piece of Baked Brown Sugar 3/8″ Ruffle Stretch Trim Ribbon is adhered around the back and the panel is mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. You all know I like an unusual color combination for a Holiday card, and this one certainly fits the bill. I would even go as far to say as it has a little bit of a vintage feel to it. Thanks, as always, for stopping to see my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. Take some time to check out the other Design Team members’ projects on the blog. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

SUO Challenges 82

Sometimes my job is absolutely insane, well, most of the time. I work in a very busy department, we “help” out everyone in the building. I’m lucky because I really do like the four people in my department and my boss is just a really good person. Every once in a while when you do go beyond what is really your job something nice happens. There was a presentation today with Pace University and I offered to do the media set up. Our IT Department is mostly useless and I do like to make sure that the CEO and COO don’t look like fools. After the presentation they both thanked me for making myself available to assist and that they knew because I was there it would go smoothly. Amazing how something so simple as a little thanks can make your day. 🙂

SU! Weekly Deals 2 10-22-2013

Now for the reason you spend a little time with me, today’s post and it’s for SUO Challenges. This time around we are given a theme… Harvest. When I thought of that I immediately thought of the Harvest of Thanks Stamp Set, I know, genius right?! LOL! I did want to mix it up a little to keep things interesting! For the base of my card I used some Elegant Eggplant Card Stock. A piece of Early Espresso Core’dinations is embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and lightly sanded with the Stampin’ Sanding System. Next up is the backdrop for my main image which is made using the Truly Grateful Stamp Set and some Crushed Curry Ink. I stamped the image twice, trimmed it and backed it with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The main image is from the Harvest of Thanks Stamp Set and I stamped the image three times, once in Cherry Cobbler, again in Elegant Eggplant and finally in Crushed Curry. They are cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies and I used my trusty Paper Snips to separate the pieces and then some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it all together. I like the colors together, especially the brightness of the Elegant Eggplant, I haven’t used that color in a while. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for the theme challenge over at SUO Challenges. Visit the blog to see what the other Design Team members have for inspiration and enter your card in the gallery for us to see. Thanks you so much for visiting today. Have a great Tuesday! 🙂

Double Header Monday!

I had a lovely day in Manhattan yesterday. It was a little on the cool side but the speed at which I walk warms me up quite quickly! LOL! I do try to remember to take a picture of anything that I see that strikes me as fun. My friend Isabella told me about this new little shop that opened up on Lexington Avenue called Tinsel. She said it had all kinds of neat things inside and she was right. I took a picture of the storefront, you can see a sampling of some of the goodies along with the reflection of a NYC Taxi. It’s hard to take a picture in NY without getting a Taxi in it! You can just see the sign TINSEL Covered with antique glass glitter in the window…

Tinsel Lex

It was a really fun shop and they had so many neat goodies, But I behaved! Maybe next time! 😛

So you see from the title of today’s post it’s a double! I realized last night that I hadn’t gotten my Pals Paper Arts card in and it closes today. Where does the week go?! I always post my Paper Players card on Monday so I decided to give you a two fer!

First up is my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s sketch challenge. A thank you to the very talented Brian for choosing my card as his pick for last week’s color challenge. You can see my original post here and the Pals Paper Arts post here. Now for this week’s sketch…

PPA 176

An interesting sketch don’t you agree?! I pondered for a while and finally the idea started to form, scary little place my brain is! LOL! The base of my card is Bermuda Bay Card Stock. The top panel is a piece of Sahara Sand that I stamped with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Bermuda Bay. To mix it up a little my diagonal is a piece of Vellum Card Stock with some Brushed Gold behind each side. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The three butterflies were created using a piece of Sahara Sand and little concoction that I mixed up. I took one of my Stampin’ Spritzers and put 18 drops of Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Ink Refill and some of the “Vintage” Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. I topped it off with some rubbing alcohol and spritzed the Sahara Sand. My Bitty Butterfly Punch set them free from the card stock and some more Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. Across the bottom is another piece of Brushed Gold that I embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My greeting is from one of the Paper Pumpkin Sets and is heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Bermuda Bay and is backed with more Brushed Gold. I really love the Bermuda Bay with the Gold, it has a rich Tiffany look and the sparkly butterflies are fun too! And that takes care of my Pals Paper Arts card for this week’s sketch challenge.

Now on to my Paper Players card for this week’s theme challenge. LeAnne has asked us to make a CAS Masculine card…

Paper Players #168

I didn’t want to use dark colors, that’s the “traditional” masculine card, I wanted bright! The base of my card is Soft Suede Card Stock. I took a piece of Whisper White and stamped it in Coastal Cabana with the World Map Background Stamp. The scalloped strip of Coastal Cabana on the left is cut out with the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die and a strip of Champagne Glimmer Paper is on top. The nautical images are from the The Open Sea Stamp Set (which is actually one of the first sets I purchased!) and are stamped in Soft Suede. The ship is cut out with my Paper Snips and the compass is punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. I choose the greeting from the Make a Wish Stamp Set and they are all adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I personally would love to get a card like this for my birthday and I did a survey and the result was the same! LOL! I love the World Map Background Stamp and the Open Sea is still a favorite! Thanks for coming by to see my Paper Players Card for this week’s CAS Masculine challenge from LeAnne! I hope that you enjoyed my Monday Double Header!! Have a crafty day peeps! 🙂

Control Freaks October Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Hello everyone and welcome to the October Control Freaks Blog Tour! Our theme for this month’s tour is Gratitude. A very fitting theme seeing as the time of year we are coming up on there are so many things that we all have to be grateful for. The holiday’s help us to stop and remember that. If you are following the tour then you have arrived here from LeeAnne Greff’s blog. When I think of grateful I think of thank you cards so I made a box of thank you cards that are great to have handy or they would make a fun gift for someone.

I saw a tutorial on Pinterest where someone had used the Envelope Punch Board to make a box to hold four cards with envelopes, well, I had to give that a try! The box for the cards is made from Crumb Cake Card Stock that is cut to 9″ x 9″ and then using the Envelope Punch Board it’s scored and punched at 3 1/2″ and 4 1/2″. You then flip it and do the same on the opposite side. For the two remaining sides you follow the score lines from the previous sides and when you are finished you have your box. Some Sticky Strip holds it together and a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon is wrapped around it to hold it closed. I used the Snow Day Stamp Set to stamp my snow man in Whisper White Craft Ink on Soft Sky and cut him out with my Paper Snips. His buttons and face are Basic Black and his nose is Pumpkin Pie. A piece of Sahara Sand and a piece of Soft Sky are cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits Dies. The Soft Sky piece has his arms stamped in Soft Suede on it and its all adhered to the Burlap with Sticky Strip. A little piece of Burlap is also used for his scarf. I did the same process for the four snowmen on the cards. The greeting along the bottom and snowflakes are stamped in Soft Sky on Sahara Sand. The main greeting is from the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede on Soft Sky and punched out with the Label Bracket Punch. Some Crumb Cake Envelopes complete the set. I’m going to use mine as a gift for someone this holiday season. Who couldn’t use a nice set of handmade thank you’s to send out?! I hope that you enjoyed my project for this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour. Now on to your next stop, up next is Jan Tinklenberg, enjoy! Thanks so much for stopping by here and have a great day! 🙂
