Paper Craft Crew 113

Is it Wednesday already?! Yeah! I know, I’m wishing the week away but come on, admit it, you are too! LOL! Yesterday was a pretty good day. Daniel was at my parents when I got there, is it possible that he gets cuter every time I see him?! I’ll remember to take some pictures next time, I promise! I came home and made my card for today and Andrew came by and hung out for a while. He worked on his paper for school and I did the blog thing. All in all a pretty good day and an excellent evening! I have some more pictures from Manhattan to share with you today. I however didn’t take these but it’s something that most of us will never get to see. My friend Brian is a fireman, I think I have mentioned that before, and the people in his group went up to the top of the new Freedom Tower and took some pictures. They were up higher than any of us will ever get to go and even though it was an overcast day the pictures are quite cool. The first one is just looking out over manhattan…

WTC Roof 1

The second one is looking down at the reflecting pools…

WTC Roof 2

To think that’s where the two towers used to stand gives me a little chill, I think that the fogginess adds to the picture too.

Now off we go to today’s post. I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch…

PCCCS113 Sketch 10-08-2014

I used a fun set that I had forgotten that I had! My card begins with a base of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock. For the background I stamped the Dictionary Background Stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black on Crumb Cake. All of the stamped images are from the Bite Me Photopolymer Stamp Set. The panel is a another piece of Pumpkin Pie and I heat embossed the spider web in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and backed it with a piece of Basic Black. The two spiders are heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut out with my Paper Snips. I used the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch to punch out the Bite Me and backed it with a piece of Whisper White. Finally, the greeting is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black and I flagged the right side. I’m really loving the color combination and the stamp set is just so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Stop by the BLOG and show us some love by entering your project in the gallery. Thank you for stopping by to share some more pictures with me and see my card, have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 107

Howdy peeps! My Monday was a typical Monday, I wasn’t in the best of moods and work didn’t help. I was glad to come home and then I realized that I had forgotten my iPad on my desk. I called my friend Danielle and she offered to drop it off on her way home. That was really nice of her since I don’t live on the way home for her. Funny how a little random act of kindness can turn your day around! I had card class last night and that is always a laugh. Love seeing everyone and just having a good time! I have a few more Manhattan pics for you today. The first one is the Lennox Hill Healthplex on 14th Street and 7th Avenue. I just think that its a really neat building!

Lennox Hill Healthplex

The next building is on 16th Street and 6th Avenue, all of the other buildings on the street are much older and this one is just a lot taller and much more modern than the rest of them. It sticks out a lot!

West 16th & 6th

It has a very odd angled front, I wonder how you get blinds for those windows?!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Out in the Woods theme. I immediately thought of the Life in the Forest Stamp Set, a little obvious right?! LOL! The card base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Sky. The greeting is from the Hi There Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used a piece of Old Olive for the hills and just took my Paper Snips and cut a wavy line though them and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount them to the card and each other. All of the images are from the Life in the Forest Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, cut out with my Paper Snips and colored in with Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate and Old Olive Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I used one or two Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them to the card and complete my little scene. I really do love coloring in the stamps with the Blendabilities, it gives it such a great look! I hope that you enjoyed my cute little forest scene card for the SUO Challenges Out in the Woods challenge. Head on over to the BLOG and check out what the rest of the design team has come up with and let’s see your take on the theme! Thank you for stopping by and I hope that enjoy your Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 216

So, I had a lovely day in Manhattan yesterday! I met my friend Kim for Breakfast, we went to the diner and then I headed over to see my friends Joe and Penny. I had a nice visit with them. After, I called Kim so we could meet downtown, she was finishing up her laundry so I walked down Broadway to 72nd Street to wait to hear from her so I could jump on the Subway. There is a nice park there outside the Subway Station. I sat there with my headphones on listening to Sam Smith and just soaking up the sun and taking in all of the people walking by. I have to say that I haven’t just sat and “been” for a while and it felt wonderful. I need to remember to do that more often, especially once the weather gets warmer again. After Kim text me I jumped on the Subway and headed downtown. I had to pick up something that they were holding for me at The Ink Pad and then we headed over to The Hummus and Pita Company for a late lunch. I got home around 6:30 and remembered that I had some cards to make so I sat down and crafted for a bit before calling it a night. I do have a few pictures for you today. The first one is on Broadway. They have benches in the between the north and south sides of the street so I sat on one of those for a bit.

Broadway & 89th

Next is a picture of the Broadway and 72nd Street Subway entrance. This is where I sat and listened to my music.

Broadway & 72nd Station

You can see from the pictures what a gorgeous day it was, I have to admit that it was very hard to get up from that bench!

Today is Monday so that means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This time Jaydee has a Halloween theme for us…

Paper Players #216

I have made quite a few Halloween cards this year using stuff from the new catalog so I decided to dust off an oldie but goodie for this one. My card begins with a base of Basic Gray Card Stock. The first layer of my background is a piece of Basic Black. I used the Homemade Holiday Framelits to cut out three houses from the Black. I then stamped the images from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark Ink on Smoky Slate and heat embossed them with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. They too are cut out with the Homemade Holiday Framelits and put back into the negatives on the Black. Over the top is a piece of Vellum Card Stock. All of my images are from the “Vintage” Fang-tastic Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with my Skin Tones Assortment, Wisteria Wonder, Smoky Slate, Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I used my Paper Snips to cut them all out and adhered them to the Velum with SNAIL. The greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I adhered the Vellum to the card with SNAIL carefully placed behind the images. I love the depth that the Vellum gives the card, almost like fog and makes the houses seem further back and the stamp set is just too cute! I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Halloween theme from Jaydee. I love having you stop by to see what I have been up to and I hope that you have a marvelous Monday! 🙂

Creation Station Tour – Fall Fest

creation station header

Hello peeps! How is your weekend going so far? Mine is going well! I was in Manhattan most of the day yesterday and despite it being dreary and rainy I had a nice time seeing my friend Isabella! After I took the subway down to the Ink Pad and made a new friend. Michael is another crafty person and I had a nice chat with him. Hopefully I will see him again soon! After I came home I made a card, I had to it was World Card Making Day after all! Did you get to make a card or two yesterday?!

Sometimes Sunday’s mean it’s time for another Creation Station Blog Tour! Today is one of those Sundays! This time around we are doing a Harvest theme focusing on the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Tiny Treat Boxes. If you are following the tour then you have arrived here from the very talented Jennifer Downey’s Blog. I have three projects for you today, two cards and a little box. Lets get to them shall we?!

My first card uses the night sky technique that I did a little while ago. I really loved the way it looked and had to do it again! The base of the card is Night of Navy Card Stock. I used a piece of Watercolor Paper and the Tim Holtz Mini Ink Blending Tool with some Daffodil Delight first to create the moon. I then took some Post-it Tape and used the 1 1/4″ Punch to punch out a piece to mask over the moon.

Creation Station Tour 11 6-WM

Night of Navy and Blackberry Bliss are used to create the rest of the sky. The stars are Perfect Pearls mixed with a little water and dotted on with a paintbrush.

Creation Station Tour 11 7-WM

To make my ghost I took my Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker and colored around just the edge of the ghost stamp and stamped it on some more Watercolor Paper.

Creation Station Tour 11 2-WM

I then used a paintbrush and water to pull the ink into the middle of the ghost.

Creation Station Tour 11 3-WMCreation Station Tour 11 4-WM

A quick trip through the Big Shot with the Fun Fall Framelits and some black eyes that are punched out with the 1/8″ Circle Punch and he’s ready to go on the card.

Creation Station Tour 11 5-WM

But first I heat embossed one of the greetings from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A simple mailable card that uses two fun techniques!

Creation Station Tour 11 Boo Night Sky-WM

Next up is another neat card. The base of this one is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper Pack. The panel is Sahara Sand and I used the Project Life Corner Rounder to round the corners. My partial circle is cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. The greeting is from the For All Things Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. For a little extra detail I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce all around the edges before adhering the panel to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The pumpkin and leaves are all from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Pear Pizzaz. I cut them out with the Fun Fall Framelits and adhered the to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. Another simple card but I love the piercing detail and the circle cut out!

Creation Station Tour 11 Hello Fall Pierced-WM

My last project is a box that I made using the Tiny Treat Boxes. They are 25 in a pack for $6.95! How can you go wrong?! To make my box I first separated it at the seam by prying the two pieces apart. I did this so I could cut out the pumpkins using the Fun Fall Framelits from the opposite sides of the box.

Creation Station Tour 11 1-WM

I then took some Vellum Card Stock and glued it to the inside of the box before using some Sticky Strip to adhere it back together. The embellishment on the top of the box is a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that I trimmed the sides off of and pulled some threads out. I adhered it to the box top with some more Sticky Strip. Next up is some of the Tangelo Twist Sequin Trim from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit adhered with some Glue Dots. My pumpkin is from the Fall Fest Set and is cut out with the Fun Fall Framelits. I cut out one of the leaves stamped in Pear Pizzaz and used one of the Autumn Wooden Elements along with some of the black twine from the Paper Pumpkin Kit. A Stampin’ Dimensionals holds it in place.  Again, I have forgotten to pick up some of the tea lights! When I do get some I will take pictures of the place card holder and this box! LOL! I love all of the elements and simplicity of the box!

And there you have my three projects for the Creation Station Blog Tour for our Fall Fest theme. I really hope that you enjoyed the projects and are inspired to make some of your own. Now continuing on with the tour your next stop is our fearless leader Jen Arkfeld. She’s a clever one isn’t she?! Thank you for coming by to see my projects! I appreciate your visit and hope you have an amazing Sunday! 🙂

Little White Merry Christmas

Happy World Card Making Day!! Do you have anything fun planned for today?! I hope that you will be making at least one card to celebrate!! My Friday was a very good one indeed! I got to do my monthly delivery field trip and the rest of the day was manageable as an added bonus! I came home and worked on my card for today and some projects for Sunday. I’m off to Manhattan for a bit this morning to see my friend Isabella. I haven’t see her since the beginning of the summer, lots of catching up to do!

The card that I made for you today is one that popped into my head while my friend Sandy was here for a little visit last night. It’s a simple pretty traditional Christmas card to make up for my very non-traditional one yesterday! 😛

The card base is a piece of Mossy Meadow Card Stock. I think that Mossy Meadow has definitely become my favorite Christmas green! Next up is a piece of Cherry Cobbler. I embossed the “Christmas” from the “Vintage” Joy to the World Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The frame is a piece of Crumb Cake and I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to create it. The merry is cut out with the Little Letters Thinlits across the bottom. My scene is created using the White Christmas Photopolymer Stamp Set. All of the elements are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, I colored in the stars with Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers and did a little shading under the polar bear with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I used the Color Lifter to lighten up the shading and adhered the panel to the back of the frame with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. A strip of Crumb Cake under the Christmas completes the card. I love those Little Letters Thinlits, especially the negative of the letters and the White Christmas Set makes it easy and fun to create a little scene! I hope that you like today’s simple Christmas card. I thank you very much for spending a little time with me today! Now go and a make a card and celebrate World Card Making Day!! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 222

Ahh… the stress of the week just seems to melt away on a Friday! I’m looking forward tot his weekend too, I’ll be in Manhattan on both Saturday and Sunday! Yesterday was pretty uneventful, which is definitely not a bad thing. I came home and crafted for a bit and then ran to Target with Taylor. It seems that I’m in Target a lot, probably much more than I should be but it’s very close and they pretty much have anything that you could ever need. It was a very overcast morning here yesterday but the sun did peek out for a bit in the afternoon. Today is supposed to be sunny and in the 70’s, perfect weather of you ask me!

Today I have my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 222

Now, you know how I love a Holiday card that has absolutely no red and green in it, well, when I looked at the colors I saw a Christmas card! I know, I’m a little odd but that’s me! LOL! My card starts off with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of So Saffron and embossed it with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The four ornaments are from the Cheerful Christmas Stamp Set and are heat embossed in Calypso Coral Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum Card Stock and cut out with my Paper Snips. I love to fussy cut but fussy cutting Vellum is not a lot of fun! LOL! I used some Early Espresso Baker’s Twine behind the ornaments that are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and taped it behind the background with some Washi Tape. The panel is then adhered to the card with Fast Fuse Adhesive. I used the Note Tag Punch to punch out a piece of Calypso Coral that I heat embossed my Greeting from the Merry Everything Stamp Set in Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The hole in the top is punched out with the 1/8″ Circle Punch and another piece of Early Espresso Baker’s Twine is tied through it. Some Crystal Effects keeps the twine in place on the card. Yes, Christmas is a red and green but the ornaments can be any color and so can your tags! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge and that I have inspired you to make a non-traditional Holiday card!! Thanks so much for indulging me and coming by! You are the best blog peeps in the world! Have a super fantastic Friday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 156

And how was your Wednesday? I hope that it was a good one. My day was repeat of yesterday at work – so much fun! The day got infinitely better once I made my escape! I ran to Target with Heather to pick up some groceries and other necessities. It was a rainy dreary day here all day and Heather’s mood was similar, but I managed to cheer her up a bit! Little Winston decided that it would be a good idea to eat one of the mushrooms in the backyard the other day. He was quite sick on Monday night. I looked up the mushroom on Google and sure enough it was poisonous. The web site that I was on said that unless you catch it in the first four hours you just have to let it play through. It also said that it’s rarely fatal so I kept my fingers crossed and he seems to be fine today. I did go out and pull up all of the ones that I could find just in case he decides to have another bout of curiosity! Never a dull moment!

In a bit of fun news Stampin’ Up! is having a Stamp, Stock & Save promotion. Select Stamp Sets, Card Stock, Envelopes, Adhesive and Ink are on sale now through October 6th. You can see the flyer below or click HERE for a PDF.

It’s a good time to stock up on with savings of 15% to 20%!!

Today’s card is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from the lovely Narelle…

Freshly Made Sketches #156

As soon as I saw the sketch an idea of what I wanted to do began to take shape. The base for my card is Pool Party Card Stock. I stamped my greeting from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Lost Lagoon in the lower right corner. A piece of Smoky Slate, some 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon and some Lost Lagoon 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon are adhered centered on the lower half of the base. My fun star shaker is a piece of Lost Lagoon with one of the images from the Merry and Bright Stamp Set stamped in Lost Lagoon. All of the pieces are cut out with the Stars Framelits, including a piece of Window Sheet and some Silver Foil Sheet as the frame. I used regular foam tape to create the space to put the Frosted Sequins in, doubled so they would get a little more movement, and adhered the pieces together. My last little detail is a piece of Vellum that I heat embossed another image from the Merry and Bright Stamp Set in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and again used the Stars Framelits to cut it out. It too is adhered with some tiny pieces of foam tape. A fun shaker card to make someone’s Holiday extra special! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. As always, I appreciate you taking a little time to come by and see me and I hope that you have a great Thursday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 112

I do enjoy a Wednesday, it’s the halfway point and after the day I had yesterday I’m glad to be that much closer to Friday. Work made up for all of the pleasant days that I have had by being just annoying. We have good days and bad days, that’s just the way things work right?! I ran Heather over to her catering job to pick something up after work and then had dinner. I did get a call from my friend at the Apple Store yesterday telling me that he had an iPhone 6 for me to pick up. My friend Kim in the city wanted one and she is on my plan so I headed over and picked it up. I also stopped at BestBuy to get her a case and a screen protector. Now to get it to her, because once the new phone is purchased the old one gets shut off! My friend Chantal to the rescue! I went and dropped it off at her house and Kim will go over to her office and pick it up tomorrow. It was a very involved process to make it all come together but it did in the end!

When I did my post yesterday the Tuesday specials from Stampin’ Up! weren’t up yet so here they are for you today…

It looked vaguely familiar to me so I decided not to use the speech bubbles again. I started off today’s card with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock and on top of that is a piece of Basic Black. The top panel is a piece of Tangerine Tango and I stamped one of the images from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black on it. My pumpkins and leaf are cut out using the Fun Fall Framelits. I cut one of the pumpkins out of the pane and one from Crushed Curry. The leaf is cut from a piece of Sahara Sand. Before I adhered the panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I tucked a piece of the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper behind the negative pumpkin and I stamped the greeting from this month’s Paper Pumpkin Kit in Memento Tuxedo Black. The other pumpkin and leaf are adhered with more Stampin’ Dimensionals and three black enamel dots are secured in the lower right corner. A fun and different Halloween card don’t you think?! That’s my interpretation of this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. Stop by the blog and see what my fellow Design Team members have done with it and let’s see what you do too, upload you card to the gallery! Thank you for coming by to see me today, I hope that you enjoyed the card and that you all have a the best Wednesday in recent memory! 🙂

Made it through Monday and I’m happy to see that you did too! My day was pretty average. I got stuff done at work and when I came home little Daniel was there for dinner. I spoke to my sister-in-law Erika about his birthday party decorations and we are going to make them on the 18th of October. Andrew stopped by for a little visit on his way home from school, always a nice surprise! Heather had to take her car to her dad in Valley Stream to get her tire fixed so I followed her there and drove her back. We hung out at her house for a bit and had a nice long chat about the goings on in our lives. Always good to talk about that sort of stuff and get another opinion so we know that we are not ready to board the crazy train! LOL! So, it was a very good day!

Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Yeah! Another Tall & Skinny card! They are fast becoming my favorite cards to make! The card I made for today starts off with a base of Smoky Slate Card Stock and for the background I used a piece of paper from the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. Across the top is a piece of Crushed Curry that I heat embossed the greeting from the Hi There Stamp Set in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My banners are all pieces of paper from the Flashback Designer Series Paper Pack. I thought the card needed a little more so I used my 1/4″ and 1/2″ Circle Punches to make some “page protectors” using Real Red, Pool Party, Crushed Curry and Smoky Slate. I adhered them in a line down the left side of the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. A rather simple, highly mailable and somewhat masculine card that would be great for a birthday, thank you or just about any other occasion don’t you think?! That’s my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making it! Thanks so much for coming by to spend a little time with me today! Have yourselves a tantalizing Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 215

I’m not going to make my usual comment about the weekend being over. I had a nice weekend, got some things done and saw a lot of peeps. Yesterday I finally got some cleaning done and finished up some projects. I also went to dinner at Ruby Tuesday’s with my friend Maureen. Not a bad day at all. Now I will begin my mental countdown to Friday! LOL! Oh come on, you know that those of you that work are doing the very same thing! 😛

If it’s Monday then it’s time for the Paper Players! This week we have a fun sketch from my friend Sandy…

Paper Players #215

I did ponder what I was going to do for a little bit, actually while I was vacuuming! I finally settled on this. My card base is a piece of Pistachio Pudding Card Stock. I stamped the parkay pattern from the Truly Grateful Stamp Set Early Espresso on Soft Suede. The butterflies are from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set and are heat embossed in Calypso Coral on Vellum. I punched them out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch. Before I adhered them to the card I stamped my greeting from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set in Early Espresso using my Stamp-a-ma-jig. The butterflies are then adhered to the wood panel with Glue Dots. For a little sparkle I “sprinkled” a few Pistachio Pudding sequins from the 2013-2014 In-Colors Sequin Assortment along the bottom right. I love the bold pop of the butterflies against the nice dark wood panel and I think that Pistachio helps balance everything out. There you have my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from Sandy. I hope that you like the card. Thank you for coming by to see me and I wish that you all have a marvelous Monday! 🙂
