Control Freaks Convention Swap Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour Featuring our Convention swaps! I had the best time at Convention and it was amazing to see everyone in person for the swap!! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the clever Mary Brown’s blog, now those were some great cards and that cute memo pad, WOW! This month I have two fun cards for you so let’s get to them!

My first card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. For the background I used the Zig Zag Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on a piece of Real Red. A strip of Flashback Designer Series Paper goes down the left side. I used the On Film Framelits to cut out a piece of Pool Party and adhered a piece of Vellum to the back side. The greeting is from the Be the Star Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and punched out with the What’s Up Punch. Finally I stamped the Snapshot Stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black on Smoky Slate and used my Paper Snips to cut it out. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. A fun bright card that would make a great birthday or just because card for anyone!

CF Conv Swap 1-WM

My second card uses the fun Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Flower Fair Framelits. Isn’t it great when you have a matching Stamp Set and Framelits?! I started my card off with a base of Bermuda Bay Card Stock and for the background I used a piece of Pistachio Pudding that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is a piece of the Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper. The flower is stamped in Tangelo Twist and cut out with the Framelits, a Stampin’ Dimensional holds it in place. The greeting is also from the Flower Fair Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Crushed Curry. I used the Banner Punch to create my flag on the right. I love the fun colors in the Confetti Celebration DSP and like I said the Stamp Set and Framelits together make everything better!

CF Conv Swap 2-WM

So, what did you think of my Control Freaks Convention 2014 Swaps?! I hope that you enjoyed them! Now you are off to see what the clever Heidi Boos has in store for you! Enjoy the rest of the tour and thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Framed Hello from the Heart

Day two of Convention is behind us and what a great day it was! The morning session was fun and informative. After that we kind of did what we wanted, nothing scheduled. I had lunch with Mary, Brian, Maggie, Nicole and her her husband Brian at Blue Lemon. After, I went to the Convention Store and got my new goodies from the Holiday Catalog, and then met up with the Control Freaks for our Convention Swap. I was lucky enough to be chosen to get a VIP Backstage tour today for me and three friends. Brian, Maggie and Wendy will be joining me! I’m excited for that and can’t wait! Last night was awards night and it was great to see everyone be recognized for their achievements. I even got to go up on stage and help with the reveal for the incentive trip for next year! Brian made Founders Circe, the first male demo ever to do that! The after party was great, it had a western theme and there was even a mechanical bull! I got to see Shelli and Sterling, such nice people. I also got to see Sarah and her husband Sean, we had a nice long chat and watched some people on the mechanical bull. Here are some more pictures tom yesterday!

Becky & Me

The lovely Beck Roberts and I after the Control Freaks swap!

Green Ball

There I am on stage for the incentive trip reveal, I’m the green ball on the right!

Brian P. & Me

Brian Pilling is quite the line dancer and a good sport. He helped me play a little joke on Maggie!

Shelli, Sterling & Me

Two of the nicest people that you could ever want to meet!

Sarah, Scott & Me

Sarah and her husband Scott are just awesome!

I say it all the time but the best part of Convention is seeing everyone!! It really is an amazing time!!

Today happens to be one of those days where I have a “just because” card. No challenge, no sketch, just for you! Today’s card uses the Groovy  Love Stamp Set. The card begins with a base of Crumb Cake Card Stock. My background is a piece of Blushing Bride that I stamped with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Crumb Cake, I really do love that stamp. It works for so many different things. My frame is a piece of Early Espresso Card Stock. I created the frame by cutting out a piece of paper and using the Squares Collection Framelits in the middle. Next up I used the Little Letters Thinlits to cut out the word “hello”. I popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to the card. The three hearts and greeting are from the Groovy Love Stamp Set and are stamped in Cherry Cobbler. The hearts are punched out with the Sweetheart Punch and the greeting is cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. They too are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really love the negative space created by the letter dies. More so than the letters themselves! LOL! I think it gives a fun dimension to the card. So there you have my “just because” card, just for you! I thank you for coming by and seeing what I’m up to! I hope that you are enjoying the pictures!! 🙂

Fab Friday 46

Happy Friday!! First day of Convention is done! I had an excellent day! I got to meet so many people and see lots of friends! I think that is definitely the best pat of convention! The opening session was great, Shelli was fantastic as always. Pam Morgan walked us through the new Holiday Catalog, we got out copy and you are going to love it! There are new feathers and framelits, more sequins and even some enamel dots!! LOL! I had a wonderful dinner with my friend Maggie at the Cheesecake Factory. After we had a great conversation with Robynn from the events department, such a fun lady! Here are some pictures for you…

How can Friday get any better?! Not only am I at Convention but it’s also time for the Fab Friday challenge. This time around, we have a color challenge for you…

Fab Fri 46 Colors 7-18-2014

The base of my card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock and the background is a piece of Whisper White that I offset in the lower left hand corner of the card. I rounded the top right corner with the Project Life Corner Rounder. A piece of Retro Fresh Washi Tape goes across the lower part of the card. My greeting is from the Hi There Stamp Set and is stamped in Strawberry Slush. My three feathers are from one of my favorite stamp sets, the A Happy Hooray Stamp Set. I heat embossed each one with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Daffodil Delight, Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana. They are cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A nice, simple, bright and cheery card using my favorite… feathers! I hope you enjoyed the card for today’s Fab Friday color challenge. Don’t forget to stop by the blog and see what my other talented Design Team-mates have come up and I think you should make a project and enter it in the gallery so we can see your take on it! Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed the pictures, there will be plenty more tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by, have a great Friday!! 🙂

Mojo 354

Yesterday was a day that I won’t soon forget! LOL! After almost 24v hours of travel I finally arrived in Salt Lake City at 5:30 and my wonderful friend Wendy picked me up from the airport. How awesome to see a friendly face right away! I have to say that even though it was a long process it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I met a very nice young man named Peter on the flight from NY to Austin and we chatted the entire flight. When we landed in Austin we got a cab and went to What a Burger to get some food. Went back to the airport and slept a little. He was on my flight to Long Beach too so it was great to have a friend to travel with. He headed off to LA from Long Beach but he said that he will come to NY one day and I’ll take him around and show him the town. Everything happens for a reason right?! Yes, it was a very long night/day but in the end it was all worth it! I have some pictures that I took from the plane to share with you…

These are the mountains that we flew over on the way into Long Beach…

And here is a shot of Long Beach on final approach…

This was my view when I was having Lunch…

Pretty neat huh?! I think that I will have to go back to Long Beach, it seemed like a very nice place to visit!

Now on to my card for today which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo354

Today’s card starts off with a base of Tangelo Twist Card Stock and the background is a piece of Pistachio Pudding that I embossed with the Tiny Triangles Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Next up is a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the “Vintage” Film Strip Stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black. The panel on top of that is a piece of Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. I stamped the Snapshot Stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black on Smoky Slate Card Stock and backed it with a piece of Silver Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Starburst Framelits. My greeting is from the Hip Notes Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on a piece of Strawberry Slush that I cut out with the File Tab Edgelits. I am loving the funky colors in the Confetti Celebration DSP and the pop of silver behind the camera is fun.

Paper Craft Crew 102

So where do I begin? Well, lets start with where I currently am, I’m in Austin, TX. I know you thought I was going to Salt Lake City, me too. Everything went rapidly downhill around 5:15 yesterday when I got the notification that my flight from New York to Salt Lake City had been cancelled. I immediately called JetBlue to see what I could do about rescheduling. Andrew called from his phone and I tried other things on mine. We were on hold for and hour before I got to speak to anyone. When I finally got through I was told that all flights for Wednesday and Thursday were full and they could refund my money for my outbound flight. Umm… nope! I asked to speak to a supervisor and explained that it was very important that I got to Salt Lake City the latest Wednesday afternoon. She tried about 20 different scenarios of me leaving from various cities and connecting through all different ones. We finally settled on NY to Austin, 6 hour layover, Austin to Long Beach, CA, 6 hour layover and finally Long Beach, CA to Salt Lake City arriving at 4:30PM. Yes, it’s the longest trip ever to get from NY to Salt Lake City but I will get there. I have had about an hour of sleep, if you notice any errors in my post let me know! LOL!

It’s Wednesday so that means I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch…

PCCCS102 7-16-2014

My card begins with a base of Basic Black Card Stock and the background consists of two sections. The one on the right is a piece of Crushed Curry Card Stock that I stamped with the Alphabet from the Tap Tap Tap Stamp Set in Crushed Curry. On the left is a piece of Flashback Designer Series Paper. The rest of the stamped images are also from the Tap Tap Tap Stamp Set. The notebook paper is stamped in Pool Party, the note flag is stamped in Real Red and for the typewriter I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black along with the greeting and colored it in using the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I really like the vintage feel of the stamp set and I think it pairs quite nicely with the Flashback DSP. I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Please take a minute to go over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the sketch. I’ll hopefully have a much better rest of my day today, only a few more hours and I’ll be In Salt Lake City!! Thanks for coming along on this journey! LOL! Have great day and may all of your travels be direct and quick! 🙂

SUO Challenges 101

Today’s the day, or I should say tonight’s the night! If the weather cooperates I will be getting on a flight to Salt Lake City at 8:30PM. Andrew is going to come by today and spend some time with me and then take me to the airport. If all goes well I will land in Utah at 11:45PM. I did treat myself to a little upgrade to sit in the first row with some extra room and be the first one off the plane! I have a hotel by the airport for the first night, my roomie Brian arrives on Wednesday at 10:30AM. I’m going to meet my buddy Wendy for some breakfast and then head back to the airport to meet up with Brian! I’m very excited to go! Please weather cooperate! I did have a nice day yesterday. Got some crafting done in the morning and then Sandy and Heather both came by for some lunch. I ran some errands with Heather and then went over by her for dinner. We had New England clam chowder and grilled cheese with turkey bacon. After dinner we did a quick run to IKEA and it was pouring when we came out. We haven’t had rain in a long time so no complaints! I went back to Heather’s for a bit and then came home and assembled my new little storage drawer. All in all a good day!

It’s Tuesday so it’s time for Stampin’ Up! weekly deals and here they are…

My post for today is for this week’s SUO Challenges. This time the theme is Bows, Bows, Bows! I’m not a huge bow fan but I do like them occasionally. My card was inspired by one that I saw on Pinterest. The inspiration card used a die to cut out part of the greeting and we don’t have one like it. No worries, I used my handy e-cutter! My card begins with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used my e-cutter to cut out the you from a piece of Lost Lagoon. On the top of the panel is a piece of paper from the Midnight Designer Series Paper Stack. Under that is a strip of paper from the Gold Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. Before I adhered the panel to the card with lots-o Stampin’ Dimensionals I tied a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe Thick Baker’s Twine in the required bow around it. The banner is created with the Bitty Banners Punch and the “Vintage” Sans and Stripes Alphabet Photopolymer Stamp Set stamped in Calypso Coral. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the banners in place. I love the colors together and the layout of the card is just fun! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for the SUO Challenges Bows, Bows, Bows challenge. Stop by the BLOG and see what my fellow design Team members have created and enter one of your projects in the gallery. I appreciate your visit and if all goes well I will be blogging from Utah tomorrow! Have a great day my friends! 🙂

Paper Players 204

It’s the best Monday ever! Why you ask… I’m off from work today! I also was super productive yesterday and got almost all of my projects finished! I also worked on the apartment a bit more. I had planned to relax a little but the night got away from me as it usually does. I have to say that spending a good part of the day crafting is ok with me. I also got to Skype with my friend Wendy for bit! That was lots of fun! Sandy is supposed to stop by for lunch today and I’m hoping to see Andrew at some point. He is taking me to the airport tomorrow, such a good guy!

In the midst of my crafting today I made my Paper Players card for this week’s color challenge from LeAnne…

Paper Players #204

I definitely had to think about this one for bit but I finally came up with something and managed to use no white or vanilla card stock! Don’t be afraid! LOL! The base of the card is Blackberry Bliss Card Stock. I took a piece of Wisteria Wonder, trimmed it and the used the Stars from the Hearts & Stars Mask to apply some embossing paste to it. Next up is another piece of Blackberry Bliss that I cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits and heat embossed a stamp multiple times from the Be the Star Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My stars are Lost Lagoon and are all cut out using the Stars Framelits. I popped them up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and the one in the middle has a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper that I punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Mossy Meadow. I flagged the ends and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. A funky card for a funky color challenge. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from LeAnne. Thank you for checking in and I’ll see you back here tomorrow for my SUO Challenges card! Have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

Rhinestone Sunshine

Well, I had a nice productive day yesterday, I didn’t get all of the things on my list done but I did get a bunch of other organizing around the house stuff done. Andrew stopped by for a bit last night and helped me put up some towel bars in the bathroom and other various little loose ends. I got my Vintage New York City pictures up too! here they are…

LR City Pics

The neat little strip of lights across the ceiling I picked up at BJ’s. They can change to all different colors and strobe and do all sorts of neat things. You can dim them too which comes in handy for watching a movie! We relaxed and talked for a bit and then he had to go and help his dad. I did manage to get a haircut yesterday too, now that my hair is short agin I need to go a lot more often, which is better than the alternative! I did get to relax for a bit last night and slept in a little but today I need to kick it into high gear! Lots to get done! I would like to not have too much to do on Monday and Tuesday I’ll pack. 🙂

The last card that I made last night after Andrew left is the one I’m posting today. It’s funny how sometimes I can spend some time with a person and then as soon as they leave I have an idea for a card. I guess it’s a reflection of how I feel at the time and I need to get it out! LOL! The card begins with a base of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock, which was actually the last thing the I choose. That seems to happen a lot lately, the base get picked last. The main panel is a piece of Whisper White, remember that stencil that I made a while back, I used that and sponged on some Daffodil Delight.I sponged another piece of Whisper White and stamped the face from the Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black. I used my Real Red, Bermuda Bay and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Markers to color in the face and punched him out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. A piece of Pumpkin Pie is cut out with the Starburst Framelits and backs the face before I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the same set and is stamped in Pumpkin Pie. I thought he could use a little sparkle so I randomly placed some Basic Jewels Rhinestones on the rays. A simple card that is sure to brighten anyones day! I hope you enjoyed my happy card for today. Thank you for taking some time out of your day to come and visit! Have a great Sunday peeps! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 211

I don’t think words can describe how good it feels to be done with work for an entire week. Today was a great Friday too! I got to run some errands and see a friend on one of them. I had a nice chat with an old friend when I got home and then spent a little time in the craft space. I also had another pretty neat suggestion for the name of said craft space… the stamping galley. What do you think of that? I kind of like it! Still have some time to get your suggestions in! I’m in for a busy weekend, but it’s supposed to rain here on Sunday so that will definitely make getting my stuff done easier because I won’t want to be outside!

Last night I sat down and did my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color challenge…

PPA 211

When I first looked at it I thought nautical but then I changed my mind! The base of the card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock. I stamped the flowers from the Hello Darling Stamp Set in Daffodil Delight on Whisper White and adhered the panel to the card base. The front panel is Night of Navy and I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits to cut out the center. Around the cutout I used the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce a nice border. My greeting is also from the Hello Darling Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the panel in place. I used some Basic Jewels Pearls in the flower centers and then some randomly scattered in the lower left corner complete the card. I am really enjoying the Hello Darling Stamp Set, the greeting is great and so are the images! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Your visits make my days complete and I appreciate that! Have a super Saturday my friends! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 144

An extremely happy Friday to you my friends! It is my last day of work for a whole week! The best part, next week I will be in Salt Lake City for Convention! I’m going to try and sneak out a little early today too, gots to get my stuff done! I had a nice evening last night. I ran to DSW with Heather and then went back to her house so she could pack. She is going to Boston for the weekend with her boyfriend. After that we came back to my house and she helped me organize the apartment a bit more. Little by little it’s getting done and is almost finished! Yeah! There are some things that I would like change and will in time. Our project for this evening was my glass cabinet that houses all of my Hard Rock Cafe glasses that either I have bought or someone else has brought back for me. I have quite a few! Productivity feel so good!

My post for today contains my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. This week’s sketch is provided by Karren…

Freshly Made Sketches #144

I don’t usually like to use a “busy” Designer Series Paper for the background but I actually really like this one! My card begins with a base of Whisper white Card Stock and I used a piece of paper from the Gold Soiree Designer Series Paper Pack to cover the entire card front. A piece of Garden Green is embossed with the Lovely Lace Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered to the base. The stamped images are from the Hello Darling Stamp Set. My doilies are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Calypso Coral, then punched out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sequins are heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Whisper White. My greeting is from the Good Greetings Stamp Set (from the upcoming Holiday Catalog) and is stamped in Calypso Coral. I used my Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blendabilities Marker to color one of the Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons and tied a piece of White Baker’s Twine in a bow before adhering it to the card with a Mini Glue Dot. I love that we have a sequin stamp and how cool does it look heat embossed in Gold?! Did you enjoy today’s card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge? Let me know by leaving me a comment! I really love having you come by to see what I’m up to and I wish you all a stupendous Friday! 🙂
