Paper Players 182

Wow! that weekend just flew by! My Sunday was a little messed up, I didn’t get up until 9:45! That’s why my post was so late yesterday. I haven’t slept that late in years! It threw my whole day off, so funny how a little routine change can mess things up! I did get to spend some time crafting and ran an errand or two but for the most part I just took it easy. How was the rest of your weekend? I’m so happy that you enjoyed the pictures and I have informed Andrew that he needs to make another card or two! 🙂

Monday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week Nance has given us a fun color combo…

I love these colors together and I took one look at it and the idea for the card crept into my brain! My card base is Midnight Muse Card Stock and the background is a piece of Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper. I used the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on another piece of Midnight Muse and flagged the bottom. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The Secret Garden Framelits are used to cut out a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper and the flowers that are from the Simple Stems Stamp Set and are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe. There is also a strip of Champagne Glimmer Paper across the top. My greeting is from the Simply Celebrate Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with one of the dies from the Circle Card Thinlits. A few loose sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim complete the card. So there you have my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Nance. Freshly Made Sketches 122

Wow! Thursday already! Pretty good speed for this week. The weather you ask… it snowed in the morning and then rained yesterday making the snow nice and heavy and the roads a slushy mess. Last night it went down to 19 degrees so it all froze. Winter is just not very nice this year! I came home last night and crafted for a bit, picked up Andrew from a cappella practice and dropped him at home. He is not feeling well again and has a concert on Friday. Hopefully his cough will be under control by then. It’s miserable being sick as you know but when you sing it’s worse. How is everything in your neck of the woods?

My inspiration for today’s post comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. The sketch this week is provided by Cindy…

I had some fun using a bunch of different elements for this card. The base is Soft Suede Card Stock and the background is a piece of Bermuda Bay That I rounded the top corners of. The strip of paper across the lower half is from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. My heart is a piece of Real Red that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch on a piece of Whisper White and one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies on the bottom to cut out the “xoxo”. My greeting is from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. Three little banners from the Love You More Stamp Set, stamped in Bermuda Bay and punched out with the Banner Punch go across the top of the tag and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I love the negative “xoxo”, it looks neat with the Designer Series Paper showing through and I really can’t get enough of the red and blue together! Paper Craft Crew 79

Hello my friends! Justin here from Alaska… oh wait, I live in New York, it just feels like I live in Alaska! LOL! We got some more snow last night about two inches and it’s raining now. I know you must be sick of hearing about the nasty winter that we are having here and I can tell you that I can’t wait to start talking about driving around with the top down in the car again!! Come on Spring, you can do it! Get here fast!! I wish that the flights to Florida were cheaper for this weekend, I would be on my way down there! 🙂

It being Wednesday and all means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This week we have the following for you…

I do love some flags! I think I was really wanting spring when I made this card, the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog has a nice spring feel to it! My card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of Sahara Sand. A strip of Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper goes across the middle and also is used for one of the flags. My other flag is a piece of Pistachio Pudding that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (also from Sale-A-Bration!) For my greeting is used the See Ya Later Stamp Set (yup, Sale-A-Bration!) stamped in Pool Party and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. The owl Builder Punch is used to punch out the heart from some Crisp Cantaloupe, perfect fit for the stamp! My three flowers are stamped in Summer Starfruit and are from the Best of Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set, they go perfectly with the DSP! Finally, two Subtles Candy Dots complete the card. I really do love the colors in the Sweet Sorbet DSP and I thought that it was really cool the way the tower goes so well with it! Mojo 330 & Guest Card Maker

Ahh… Thursday, one more day to go! Don’t you just love the countdown to the weekend?! I know I do! Most of the snow that we got yesterday morning has blown away, it was nice and windy and cold here again. Work you ask, well it was crazy busy again! I did have a fun evening though. Danielle came over and we went to Friday’s for dinner. We even had some desert, the Tennessee Whiskey Cake and it was mind blowing-ly amazing! After dinner We came back to the house and Danielle sat at the craft desk and made her very first card. It’s a Valentine’s Day card for her boyfriend Derek. I think that she did a fantastic job! I love the colors and there is just enough grey to make it masculine but a good bit of love too! Here it is…

She colored the love in to make it look a little chalky and the Designer Series Paper is the “Vintage” More Amore from last year’s Occasions Catalog. I love the Smoky Slate with the paper, too bad we didn’t have that color last year! 🙂

Now on to my post for today which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch…

A fun tall & skinny card! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. A piece of Strawberry Slush and a piece of Gold Designer Vellum with some Gold Sequin Trim create the background. Next up is a piece of Blushing Bride that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Sale-A-Bration. I stamped the Flowerful Heart in Strawberry Slush and cut it out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. A piece of Coastal Cabana is cut out with them too and paper-pierced using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack. My greeting is form the “Vintage” Perfectly You Host(ess) Stamp Set form the 2013 Holiday Catalog and is cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it all to the card. I really liked the sketch this week and love the heart hanging off the side of the card. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and my friend Danielle’s card! Freshly Made Sketches 120

It’s my favorite day as you well know! It’s FRIDAY! Wee! The past two weeks have not been full work weeks but them seem longer for some reason. I hope that the weekend goes just as slowly! I have a party to go to tomorrow night and it’s supposed to snow again. I’m sure that you are sick of hearing about my hatred of snow, but I really do not like it! LOL! Sunday I think will be a relaxing day, maybe even a movie! What’s on for the weekend for you?!

The card that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and Rita has given us this…

I had a few different versions of my card before I actually decided to glue it all together! My card base is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The piece that I used is quite different from the rest of the prints, love that! I created my banner by using two sizes from the Banners Framelits Dies to cut out some Basic Black and adhered it to the background with 2-Way Glue. My greeting is from the You’re Lovely Stamp Set** from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog, just four more days until you can get some goodies for yourself! I used Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder to heat emboss the image on Basic Black. The Deco Labels Framelits Dies are used to cut it out and also for the piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I backed it with. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere both to each other and the card. I’m liking the black embossed with the gold and the DSP is a really neat pattern! Paper Craft Crew 77

So, I think I mentioned that we were supposed to get snow yesterday. They said it was supposed to start around 12:00, well it started at 8:00 and boy did it snow! There was about 5 inches on the ground when they let us out of work at 2:15. My usual 10 minute ride home was a leisurely 40 minutes. It was nice to get out of work early though because I came home and crafted the evening away! My boss called me and asked to put on the company website that we would have a delayed opening today at 12:00 which is very convenient because I’m taking Andrew to the airport this morning. Hopefully the roads will be cleared and it will be an uneventful trip. He is going to LA where it is warm and I’ll admit I’m a little jealous! 🙂

Today is Wednesday so that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This time around we have a fun simple sketch for you…

I was feeling nostalgic when I sat down to make my card so I dusted off an old favorite of mine! My card base is Very Vanilla Card Stock and the background is a piece of Chocolate Chip that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I keep using the reverse side of the folder, I like it better for some reason! My tag is created using the Angled Tag Topper Punch and the stamp is the “Vintage” Young Vermillion, I love the image, it’s so detailed and he looks great stamped in Chocolate Chip. The larger flag and the stars are Pistachio Pudding, the stars are punched out with the Merry Minis Punch pack and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is also stamped in Chocolate Chip. The three banners are from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** and are stamped in Pistachio Pudding and punched out with the Banner Punch**. I really do still love that little bird and he looks right at home with the modern elements on the card. So there you have my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch. Control Freaks January Blog Tour

Hello everyone and welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour featuring products from the 2014 Sale-A-Bration Catalog and Love! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the talented Mary Brown’s blog. I’m excited to share my two cards with you, both of them contain some love so let’s get to them!

My first card uses some neat Sale-A-Bration goodies and is simple but fun! The base of the card is Strawberry Slush Card Stock and my background is a piece of Blushing Bride. I stamped the greeting from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set in Strawberry Slush on the background and again on a piece of Whisper White. The heart is then cut out using the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and adhered over the other greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My banners are from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** and are stamped in Strawberry Slush and Blushing Bride. I used the Banner Punch** to punch them out and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of White Bakers Twine goes behind the banners to give them something to hang from. I really like the greeting stamped in the popped up heart, it give the card a little something unexpected and the banners are just fun!

My second card starts with a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock that I trimmed off the two top edges of to give it a tag look. A piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack makes the background with a Tea Lace Paper Doily on top of that. Along the bottom is a piece of Real Red that I trimmed with the Adorning Accents Edgelit Dies. I used the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies to cut out the hearts that are stamped in Coastal Cabana and Pool Party from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them to each other and the card. The greeting is from the Just Sayin” Stamp Set and are stamped in Coastal Cabana and Pool Party. Up top there is a piece of Real Red that I punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and a piece of twine from the Sweet Shop Accessory Pack** is tied in a bow. The Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack has some great colors in it and I do love that Just Sayin’ Stamp Set!

Happy Sun & Clouds

Hello there! How nice to see you today! I hope your weekend is turning out to be a good one. Mine is pretty good so far. I had a lovely time in Manhattan yesterday. It was so nice to wake up and be in the city already and not have to drive in. I had a nice relaxing morning with Kim and then went to see my friends Jim & Diane. After that I met Kim for some lunch at the Shake Shack. They have really good burgers, shakes and fries, you need to be bad every once in a while right?!?! We wandered over to BestBuy for a bit and then went back to her apartment and watched a little TV. I came home and finished up some crafty projects before relaxing with a book for a bit before bed. A very nice day indeed. When I got to Manhattan I’m usually on the Upper East side and find myself on Lexington Avenue a lot. I took this picture of Butterfield Market. They have been there for a long time and they have some really tasty treats inside. If you ever find yourself in the are you should definitely stop in for some goodies!

I find that I need a quick simple card every once in a while just to say hello, how are you. The See Ya Later Stamp Set from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog is perfect for those cards. I also wanted to see if I could make a card and not use 20 products! LOL! Here is what I came up with. My card base is Basic Black Card Stock. I stamped the greeting on the background of Smoky Slate from the See Ya Later Stamp Set** in Basic Black. My sun is a piece of Crushed Curry that I cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies. I used the Word Bubbles Framelits to cut out my clouds and adhered them with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the way the cut outs mirror the stamp and the bright pop of Crushed Curry says it all! Freshly Made Sketches 119

Guess what?! It’s FRIDAY!! My favorite day of the week!! I only had a four day week but it felt like much more! Yesterday was productive which is always a good thing. We are supposed to get snow tonight into Saturday morning. I’ll be off to Manhattan and I usually drive in but if there is snow maybe not. I think I may call my friend Kim and see what she’s up to, maybe I’ll stay by her Friday night! It’s always nice to have options! 🙂

I’m loving the Sale-A-Bration Catalog this year, so much that I find myself wishing that it was in the Occasions Catalog instead! My card today starts with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set for my greeting, stamped in Basic Black right on the base. The angled background paper is from the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper Pack**. For the flagged strip across the top half and the flowers I used the Petal Parade Stamp Set**. The strip is stamped in Pistachio Pudding with my Stamp-a-ma-jig and the flowers in Crisp Cantaloupe and Summer Starfruit. I punched the flowers out with the 1 1/4″ and 1 3/4″ Circle Punches and adhered all of the pieces to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do love the colors in the Designer Series Paper and the stamp set has so many fun elements in it! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. Paper Craft Crew 76

First day back to work… not too bad! It was nice to see my co-workers, they sort of missed me too! It rained here all day today but that’s better than snow! I had to run and see my friend Betty after work and give her some Mac tutoring, bonus, she made some delicious meatloaf for dinner. Nice comfort food for a dreary day like yesterday. 🙂

It’s Wednesday so that means that today’s post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch…

I was going to go with the colors in the sketch because I really like them but as you will see from my card I went in the complete opposite direction! My card base is Basic Gray Card Stock and my background is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder**. A strip of paper from the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper Pack goes down the left side of the card. I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and some Whisper White for my tag. The greeting is from the See Ya Later Stamp Set** and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple. For my flags I used the Banner Blast Stamp Set** inked with Bermuda Bay, Gumball Green and Summer Starfruit and the Banner Punch** is used to punch them out. Three Basic Gray Candy Dots finish off the card. Lots of colors but I think they all work thanks to the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper!
