Pals Paper Arts 270

That was an interesting Friday. I found out at work that they are having cuts and my job has been eliminated. I have to go in on Monday and see if there are any other positions available that I would be interested in. I believe that everything happens for a reason, so I need to think about what I want to do. I would like to get a job that I really enjoy or maybe find some way to work for myself. Any suggestions would be appreciated! To go along with that cheerful news it rained here all day yesterday. But I’m off to Manhattan this morning and then at The Ink Pad tomorrow so it will be a good weekend!

And yes, Michael has yet another post for you! That’s three in a row! He’s definitely on a roll! You can take a look at his latest creation HERE!

Now on to today’s card, it’s for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 270

I went with a birthday card, they are something that I need to add to my ever growing stash! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. It’s cut to 4″ wide and I heat embossed the chevrons from the Simon Says Stamp I See You Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder down the left side. A piece of Always Artichoke is embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered next to the chevrons with SNAIL. My frame is cut from Sahara Sand using the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Frame Die. I heat embossed the heart image from the same set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Blackberry Bliss and adhered it to the frame with 2-Way Glue. The frame is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The happy is also from the same set and is heat embossed in White on Always Artichoke and adhered to the heart with Foam Tape. To balance the card a bit I cut out the 2 and u from more Always Artichoke using the Papertrey Ink Block Alphabet and Numbers Dies. They are adhered to the card with more 2-Way Glue. You knew there had to be some Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins on there somewhere so I did a scattering of them around the heart. I love that geometric heart and the typed sentiments in the I See You Set, so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge! Thanks very much for coming by today! I wish you all a fun Saturday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 206

It was another overcast day here until around 5:30 and then the sun came out. We are to have another rainy day today, I guess it’s making up for all of the nice weather we had over the summer! Last night I took my aunt and uncle out to Jackie Riley’s Pub for a few drinks and we met up with Brian. I’m not one to go out to a bar but we had a really nice time! I even ran into my friend Victoria, always nice to see her! A pretty good night for a Wednesday!

Before I headed out last night I made my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 206

A simple shaker card, well about as simple as a shaker card can get, and something nice and bright too! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. The panel is a piece of Solar White 80lb, I cut out the negative circle with the Circles Collection Framelits. I used the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Circle and Circle Loops dies to cut out some Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Real Red. The Happy Birthday is adhered around the negative circle with 2-Way Glue along with the rest of the die cuts. I adhered a piece of Window Sheet to the back of the panel. Another circle is cut from a piece of 1/4″ Fun Foam and that is then adhered to the back of the panel with SNAIL. Some confetti that I got from Party City is added and the panel is then adhered to the card with some more SNAIL. Like I said, as simple as a shaker card can get and nice and bright! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you so much for stopping by and have a terrific Thursday! 🙂

SIP Challenge 16 – Card Maker’s Choice!

Monday… why?! LOL! It wasn’t too bad of a day actually. It was in the 80’s and in the middle of the day it rained for about 45 minutes and then the sun was blazing for the rest of the day. Work was busy and I have a training tomorrow, those are always fun! NOT! When I got home my Simon Says Stamp Card Kit had arrived so I played with that for a bit and then watched some TV while Taylor laid in the middle of the floor and watched YouTube on her MacBook. I also spoke to my cousin Jules and she got her new card today. It’s a Citroen C1 in a fun dark gray with a pink roof!

Jules' New Citroen

Cute car isn’t it?! As you can see it was a sunny day in London today too! In other news after a lengthy hiatus Mr. Trent is back with a blog post! He entered the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week! Click HERE and go on over and give his fun card a peek!

Now on to my card for today, it’s time for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge and we have your favorite this week…

SIP Any Challenge 16 800

Yes! Make anything that you like! I went with a Christmas card featuring the now sold out limited edition collaboration Simon Says Stamp with Lawn Fawn Cheesy Holidays Photopolymer Stamp Set and Dies. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of paper from the Lawn Fawn Let’s Bokeh in the Snow 6×6 Paper Pad. Across the bottom is a piece of Chocolate Chip stamped with the Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrops Photopolymer Stamp Set in Early Espresso. The greeting is from the aforementioned Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. For my snowflakes I used the Lawn Fawn Mini Snowflakes Lawn Cuts. They are cut from Solar White 80lb and adhered to the background with 2-Way Glue. The shaker is made using the Lawn Fawn Ready, Set, Snow Photopolymer Stamp Set and Shaker Additions. I stamped the snowflakes in Smoky Slate, the mice are from the Cheesy Holidays Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Copics. I cut them out with the coordinating Lawn Cuts and adhered them to the background with more 2-Way Glue. The shaker is assembled with 1/4″ Fun Foam, Window Sheet and Score Tape. Some Seed Beads are used for the shaker material and I attached it to the card with some Magnet Tape so you can take it off again! I love that little cheese christmas tree, so cute! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Designer’s Choice Challenge! Don’t forget to stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Team’s cards. Pals Paper Arts 269

Oh yes peeps… it’s FRIDAY!! I headed straight over to Scrap-A-Latte after work to finish cutting for class and set up. The drive over was lovely in the convertible! There were 15 people in class last night and like I said, the cards were complicated so the last one finished around 10:00. Not bad, three hours for four cards that had a lot of coloring! I got home around 10:30 and made a quick card for today’s post.

Oh, and just because you know how I love Sam, his new single for the James Bond movie Spectre is out today! You can listen here!

Sam Smith - Writing's on the Wall

The quick card is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 269

I have been in a Lawn Fawn frame of mind lately so I dug out an oldie but goodie! The card base is Neenah Solar White 100lb Card Stock. The balloon, clouds and greeting are from the Lawn Fawn Blue Skies Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped part of the greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black on the card base. A piece of Soft Sky is cut out with the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Circles and adhered to the card with SNAIL. The clouds are heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Vellum, cut out with the coordinating dies and adhered to the circle with 2-Way Glue. I colored in the balloon with Copics, also cut out with the dies, and adhered that with some Foam Tape. For the word BLUE I used the Lawn Fawn Owen’s ABC’s Photopolymer Stamp Set, stamped in Pacific Point, cut out with the coordinating dies and adhered to the card with some more Foam Tape. I think that this would make a great little pick me up card to send to someone that might be going through a rough patch, it would brighten my day! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge! Don’t forget that I will be posting the class cards tomorrow! Thanks so much for coming by and I wish you all a fantastic Friday! 🙂

Paper Players 263

TGIW! LOL! We are at the halfway point, didn’t you miss the countdown to Friday?! I didn’t! Ha! The office reared it’s ugly head yesterday and I was super busy but the day did move along quite rapidly. After work I had some quality time with little Daniel, he is such little man now! And fresh! You don’t get kisses anymore! Cheeky little devil! When I got home it was time to change the faucet in the kitchen that my lovely daughter broke while I was away. Thankfully, my dad came over and helped. There is nothing that man can’t do. When that was finished I ran to Michaels to pick up some stuff for card class and tonight I will be off to cut for said class. 🙂

I have been enjoying coloring with my copics and when I saw this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #263

I knew just want I wanted to use! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. My background is a piece of Hello Honey that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangles. The bottom is a piece of Soft Suede also cut with the same die and then again with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders. I traced across the slope with a pencil and then stamped the corn stalks from the Lawn Fawn Happy Harvest Photopolymer Stamp Set in Old Olive using generation stamping. The background is adhered to the card with SNAIL and Fun Foam. All of the rest of the images and greeting are from the same set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Copics. They are all cut out with the Lawn Cuts Happy Harvest Dies and adhered to the card with SNAIL. I love the cute images in the stamp set and I’m really enjoying coloring with the copics! I hope that you enjoyed my fall scene card for this week’s Paper Players Challenge! Thank you for visiting and I wish you all a wondrous Wednesday! 🙂

First day back to work not too bad, I did have over 1000 emails that I finally got though around 3:30. I met with some people to catch up on what happened while I was away. Just another typical day. Mojo Monday 416

And my vacation is officially over and we shall resume our normal week of wishing it was Friday! LOL! I’m back to work today and not looking forward to my email at all. It will be good to see my work peeps but I honestly I haven’t missed it! I had a more productive day yesterday, no where near back to normal but better. I dropped off my cards for class yesterday and will post them here on Saturday. There are 26 in this month’s class between Thursday and Friday! Oh wait, that’s a lot of cutting! LOL! I would say that it will be good to get back into the day to day but I would be lying! I did get to speak to Michael for bit last night, told him all about vacation and got caught up, that was nice! Here’s to hoping today goes fast and smooth!

Monday and it’s time for another fabulous sketch over at Mojo Monday

This was one of those that as soon as I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to do! A nice change from the past few days! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the entire front covered in a piece of Basic Black. The background is a piece of Very Vanilla with a strip of Gold Foil Sheet along the bottom. The two “rings” are also Gold Foil Sheet cut out with the Circles Framelits and adhered with 2-Way Glue. I used them again to cut out a piece of Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper. My congratulations is cut out from a piece of Basic Black with the Simon Says Stamp Congratulations Circle Die and adhered to the DSP with more 2-Way Glue. I then adhered some Fun Foam with SNAIL to the back to hold the circle to the card. My greeting is from the Simon Says Stamp Congratulations Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Basic Black that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Apothecary Labels and it’s adhered with some Foam Tape. Fab Friday 73

And it’s Friday, next week I will be much happier about that! LOL! Yesterday I caught up on some things around the house, took a ride over to see Renee and picked up the stamps for next week’s card class and got to see little Daniel! Not a bad day at all. Today I have some cleaning to do and lots of cards to make. I also need to venture out and get some food!

Every other Friday it’s time for another Fab Friday challenge and today’s it’s colors…

Fab Fri 73 9-18-2015

I played with some new goodies that I ordered while I was away so they would be waiting for me when I got back! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Very Vanilla. I used the Simon Says Stamp Notebook Edges Die on the left side of a piece of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack and adhered it to the card slightly askew with some SNAIL. The panel in the middle is a piece of Rich Razzleberry with the center cut out with a die from the Simon Says Stamp Happy Day Dies. All of the images are from the Simon Says Stamp Oh Happy Day Photopolymer Stamp Set. The hi is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and adhered behind the negative in the panel. Old Olive and Soft Suede are used to stamp the sprigs and feathers, they are cut out with the matching dies. Some Soft Suede is cut out with the Circle Loops Dies and all of them are adhered to the card with 2-Way Glue. The main panel is adhered with Foam Tape and a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins are added for a little sparkle. I always love a greeting heat embossed on some vellum! Butterfly Postage Wishes & BA

Good day everyone! I’m back in NY, missing my cousins already. We went our for a breakfast yesterday before heading to Heathrow. It started to pour once we got to the airport. Tracey and Jules waited with us for  a long while, we even sat and had a Costa Coffee before we said our goodbyes. The flight home on British Airways was really nice! We sat in Club World with the nice big seats that turn into a flat bed! Lunch was delicious and so was the snack before landing. My friend Betty met us at the plane and walked with us through to baggage claim and we were out in 15 minutes! Heather and Stephanie picked us up and Heather and I had our movie moment! LOL! I unpacked last night and went to be early so that I can try and reset my clock. Today I have some cleaning to do and then finally sit down and make a card, the first time in over two weeks! That has been the longest for me in over 4 years! Wish me luck! Here are some pictures from the plane yesterday…

BA Club World Seats

Our nice big comfy seats, and yes, you sit facing the back of the plane!

BA Club World TV

A view from the seat just as we were flying out into the Atlantic.

Now on to today’s card which I actually made before I left. The card base is the usual Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I stamped the “Vintage” Dictionary Background Stamp in Smoky Slate on a piece of Solar White 80lb. Down the left side is one of the stamps from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set stamped in Real Red and up in the right corner is a stamp from the “Vintage” Office Ephemera Stamp Set stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. Two of the stamps from the same set are stamped in Pacific Point and cut out with my Paper Snips. The butterfly is also from the Butterfly Basics Set and is stamped in Pacific Point, Real Red and Memento Tuxedo Black and then cut out with the Bold Butterfly Framelits. I adhered the background to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL, the stamps are adhered with SNAIL and the butterfly and greeting are adhered with Foam Tape. For the greeting I cut out a piece of Solar White 80lb with the Papertrey Ink Just the Ticket Border Die and stamped it from the Butterfly Basics Set in Memento Tuxedo Black. I resisted the urge to add some sequins, LOL! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card! Thanks for sticking with me through these last two weeks and I wish you all a terrific Thursday! 🙂

SIP Challenge 14 – A Sketch

A very good Tuesday to you! It’s my last day in England and it’s a little rainy today. I have a few last minute bits and pieces to pick up but I think that I can do that locally. Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting my FaceBook friend Lesley! We went to the Crypt for a Latte and some cake and had a lovely time chatting. So much so we got a pot of tea and finished that too! I love when I get to meet people in person and Lesley is just lovely! After that Brian and I went to Leister Square and picked up some souvenirs and then stopped by my Uncle’s before having some wood fire pizza for dinner. On to the station after that to make our way back home. A very nice day indeed! Here are some photos from yesterday!

If it’s Tuesday then it’s time for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge and this time it’s a sketch from me…

SIP Sketch Challenge 14

I had fun playing with a new stamp set and did some watercoloring too! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock and the front is covered with a piece of paper from the My Minds Eye Necessities Wood Paper Pad. The panel on the left is a piece of Smoky Slate that I embossed with the We R Memory Keepers Woven 3D Embossing Folder and backed with a piece of Night of Navy and adhered to the card with SNAIL. The main panel is a piece of Night of Navy backed with some Solar White 80lb. My greeting and flowers are from the Clearly Besotted Fairytale Ending Photopolymer Stamp Set. The greeting is heat embossed with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. I did the same with the flowers but on Canson Watercolor Paper and then cut them out with the matching dies. The flowers are colored in Zig Clean Color Brush Pens and a Water Brush. I adhered the flowers to the panel with some SNAIL and then the panel to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. A few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins complete the card. I love those flowers, especially watercolored. I hope that enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Sketch challenge. Please take a minute to stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Design Team’s cards and enter yours in the gallery! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day! 🙂
