SIP Challenge 99 – Packaging!

As far as Monday’s go that wasn’t a bad one! The weather was pleasant, sunny but cool. I got a bunch of things done in the morning. Jim stopped by for a quick visit after work and I got to see Taylor for a bit too! I’m going through the craft closet trying to get things together that I don’t use anymore. It’s amazing how much stuff I have accumulated over the past five years! 😀

It’s Tuesday and time for a new Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge

The term packaging covers a broad range of crafty projects! Boxes, gift card holders, wine tags and the list goes on! I love to use stamps to make my own wrapping paper so that’s what I did for today’s challenge and it’s super simple! I have a roll of Kraft Paper so I cut some off and used the Concord & 9th Globe Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set to stamp, randomly, the world on it in Lawn Fawn Noble Fir Ink. When I make the wrapping paper I also usually make a tag. I stamped the world onto a piece of Kraft card stock and used the Coordinating Die to cut it out. On the back I stamped the greeting World’s Best Friend in Fish Tank, punched a hole in top and threaded some Natural Twine through it. Simple and you can also then match your card, tag and wrapping paper together! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team project for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Packaging Challenge! We hope to see what you create in the gallery and if you need a little more inspiration head on over to the BLOG! Thank you for coming by today! Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 340

It couldn’t decided whether it was going to be sunny or rain yesterday but it did finally make up it’s mind around 5:30 when it started to drizzle. Another relatively quiet day at the Store. I did make a card, it’s my daily therapy! After work some dinner with my Parent’s, tacos, and then a night on the couch with the TV. Sometimes when I have a lot on my mind I find the TV distracts me, does that work for you too? Card Class today… fun!

I have my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge to share with you today, they have a fun one this week but before we get to it I want to thank Deanne for choosing my card from last week for her Cut Above! You can see my original post HERE and the winners post HERE! Now for this week…

I haven’t made any sort of 3D card in a long time so I decided I needed to do something about that! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I googled and found some instructions on how to make a step card, got out my Scoring Board and got to work. The Lawn Fawn Road Border Lawn Cut is cut from Battleship Gray and adhered to the front left and back right. My images come from three sets from Lawn Fawn, the Bicycle Built for You, Happy, Happy, Happy and Fab Flowers. I stamped the images from Bicycle Built for You in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them in with Copics. They are are cut out with the Coordinating Lawn Cuts and adhered to the back step with Tombo Dot Runner Adhesive. My happy and Mother’s Day are from the Happy, Happy, Happy Set and are stamped in Lobster, the happy is cut out with the Coordinating Lawn Cut and adhered to the middle step and the Mother’s Day is stamped on the front step. I stamped two butterflies from the Fab Flowers Set in Ballet Slippers, Bubblegum and Memento Tuxedo Black, cut them out with the Coordinating Lawn Cuts and adhered them to the left panel with 3M Foam Tape. I wanted to keep the card on the simple side as to no take away from the step aspect! LOL! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge! I thank you for visiting and wish you a happy Thursday! 🙂

Paper Players 315

What a fun day yesterday at the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store! I mentioned that they are doing construction right?! Well yesterday it was our turn to have the facade of the building taken down. So much noise and mess! Renee was smart and took the day off! I did have one person come in the morning to make the house. Around 3:30 I lost internet because they cut the cable wire! I called the rest of the people that were scheduled to take the class and said we would have to reschedule and I closed up around 4:00. Don’t ask what the cable is just cut it! So annoying! I stopped home and then went over to Heather’s so we could run some errands and have dinner. Kim and Stephanie came by for Thirsty Thursday! We had a great time as always. Today I need to get a ton of projects finished and hopefully we will have internet!

Today I have my project for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

paper-players-315

My friend Andrea very cleverly said to me, well you were going to share the house on your blog so why not use it for the challenge?! She is so smart sometimes! Here is the 3D Haunted House that I made for the class! I used the Tim Holtz Village Dwelling and the Village Manor Add-On Dies. All of the main parts of the house are cut from Black 110lb Card Stock and the fence, chimneys, door and windows from Battleship Gray. I used Vellum in the windows and the roofs are cut from American Crafts Black Glitter Card Stock. The windows, doors and chimneys have a little Black Soot Distress Ink added. I used Scor-Tape and Multi-Matte Medium to glue everything together. For a little extra spook I added a sparkly bat and ghost. There is a flickering tea light inside too! I do love the way the house came out! It’s simple but fun! I hope that you like my project for this week’s Paper Players challenge! Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a fantastic Friday! 🙂

A very Merry Christmas to you all! I had a somewhat productive Christmas Eve. I had lunch with Heather and then came back home and did some crafty things. After dinner I sat down and watched one of my favorite movies, The Holiday. Today I’ll watch Love Actually, another favorite! And yes, I was at Target last night at 9:00 getting some last minute things! It wasn’t too crowded so I was in and out in no time!

Today’s post is a short one! I have two more ornaments and a card to share with you. I won’t bore you with the details! LOL! Just some pictures and a supply list so you can take a quick peek and get back to your festivities!

NYC Coffee Ornament

Yet another fun day at The Ink Pad! There was a steady flow of customers all day and one of them just happened to be Julianne Moore! Talk about nice! Such a sweet lady and just as amazing in person as she is in the movies! Anna and I had some Hummus & Pita Co. for lunch and it was quite tasty, for dessert some Starbucks! Still loving that Holiday Spice Flat White! I also got myself a Starbucks Christmas ornament, the black and gold one! See isn’t it nice…

Starbucks Balck & Gold Holiday 2015

I love the NYC on it! I also managed to stay awake on the train on the way home and got off at my correct stop! Upon arriving home I had a little crafty time and then watched some TV. I’m back in the city again tomorrow to see my friend Isabella for a bit!

My crafty project for last night was another ornament, I know, I’m a little obsessed, but they are so much fun to make! The backing for this one is Ivory 110lb Card Stock that I cut out with the Papertrey Ink Basic Backer Die. Another piece of Ivory 110lb is cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Nested Circles Craft Dies. The skyline is cut form Black 110lb Card Stock with the My Favorite Things Die-namics New York Skyline Die and then again with the Nested Circle for a perfect fit. The greeting and coffee cups are form the Lawn Fawn Love You A Latte Photopolymer Stamp Set, I stamped heat embossed the greeting with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum also cut out with the Nested Circles and the coffee cups are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Copics. I added some Uni-Ball Gold Gel Pen and Sakura Black Glaze Pen to the black cup and a little Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen to the red one. I adhered the greeting to the rest of the layers with Multi-Matte Medium and the cups are adhered with Foam Tape. A sprinkling of some Gold Chunky Glitter before I used more Multi-Matte Medium to adhere the ornament half and it’s finished! Here’s a little peek at what it looks like before it’s all put together!

NYC Coffee Parts-WM

It’s so much fun to put together all of the things for the ornaments and they really do look so cool hanging on the tree! I hope that you enjoyed my ornament for today! Thank you so very much for your visit today! Have an awesome Tuesday everyone! 🙂

Merry City Shadow Box

It was a busy day at The Ink Pad yesterday! It was also Anna’s Birthday and I didn’t find out until I was standing on the platform waiting for the train! So a belated Happy Birthday to Anna! One of the best parts about hanging out at The Ink Pad is all of the interesting people that you get to meet! I guess I’m a people person because I talk to everyone! I even got to call Grace and let her know that her things that she ordered were ready to ship out! When I got home I had a quick bite to eat and then decided that it was time to get this project out of my head. It took a little longer than I thought it would, about 2 1/2 hours! It was also very hard to photograph! I have been trying since last night to get a good picture and I still don’t love the way it looks. It’s so much cooler in person! It’s my project to share with you today!

Coincidentally, I checked the Paper Players to see what this week’s challenge is and it’s Let it Snow! Well I guess that my project works for that! Yay! Here is this week’s Paper Players challenge badge…

Paper Players #274

I used to do a lot of 3D projects and I haven’t done one in a while. I had an idea for a shadow box using the city scene die and some Acetate so here goes! The base of the box is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I cut it to measure 5 1/2″ wide by 11″ long. It’s scored at 1″, 5″, 6″ and 10″. Two more 5″ pieces are scored at 1/4″ and 4 3/4″ or there about! I used the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle to cut out the windows in all three of the pieces. The background is a piece of Basic Gray that I cut out using the Lawn Fawn Snowy Backdrops Lawn Cut. My city silhouette is cut from Black 110lb Card Stock using the My Favorite Things Die-namics New York Skyline Die and it’s scored along the bottom at 1/4″ too. The white pieces with the windows cut out have Acetate adhered to the back. On the inside window I adhered some more White 110lb that I cut out using the Lawn Fawn Small Snowflakes Lawn Cuts using Elmer’s Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive. The greeting is cut from a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper with the Simon Says Stamp Merry & Bright Die and also adhered with Spray Adhesive to the outside window. To assemble the box I used Scor-Tape on all of the folded edges and adhered them one by one. Trust me, it looks so much cooler in person! I think that I should have either made the city scape lighter or the background! Anyway, I hope that you enjoy today’s project and that you are inspired to try something a little different! Thank you so much for sending some of your Sunday with me! Enjoy the rest of your day! 🙂

Control Freaks January Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Hello! I hope that your week is off to a good start! I had a nice day at work and another crafty evening when I got home apart from my little Target run. Guess what?! It’s time for another Control Freaks Blog Tour! This month our theme is Love and just in time for Valentine’s day! There are lots of fun new products in the 2015 Occasions Catalog with a love theme and I hope that you get some inspiration from my projects today. If you are following along with the tour you have arrived here from my talented friend Debbie Henderson’s blog. I have two cards and a little treat holder for you this time around so let’s get to them!

The first card that I have is a fun Valentine that would work for anyone. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I took a piece of Soft Sky and used the Word Bubbles Framelits to cut out the negative in the upper right corner. I also used the dies for the clouds that are cut from more Whisper White. The greeting is from the You Plus Me Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red, using the negative cut out for placement and my Stamp-a-ma-jig. The ballon and the bow are cut out from Real Red and Red Glimmer paper using the Balloons Framelits. I cut out the heart in the middle of the ballon and another one from Red Glimmer Paper using the Hearts Collection Framelits. The basket is stamped in Soft Suede from the Celebrate Today Photopolymer Stamp Set. A piece of Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper is adhered behind the negative heart in the ballon and the balloon and red glimmer heart are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I adhered my clouds to the background and the background to the base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I think that this card would work for just about any age, don’t you?

Control Freaks January Blog Tour Love Balloon Card-WM

My second card is a nice simple one that would work for many different occasions. It begins with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used the You Plus Me Stamp Set and repeatedly stamped the ampersand in Pool party on Pool Party for the background. A piece of Vellum Card Stock cut to the same size as the Pool Party and has one of the greetings from the same set heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used the Spiral Border Punch along the left side and a Mini Metallic Clothespin holds the two sheets together. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals along the back of the Pool Party piece adhere the background to the card. A simple card that would make a great birthday, thank you or Valentine!

My last project for today is a little treat holder. I used some Vellum Card Stock and the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits for the holder. I cut another piece of Vellum out with the Hearts Collection Framelits for my topper. All of the stamps are from the January Paper Pumpkin Kit and are heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some Gold Glimmer paper is punched out with the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and adhered to the Vellum heart with Glue Dots. A Mini Metallic Clothespin is adhered to the back of the heart with Sticky Strip and holds it to the handle on the that box. I would have filled this up with some M&M’s but unfortunately I finished the bag the other day! Time to get some more!

Control Freaks December Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Hello everyone and welcome to the Control Freaks December Blog Tour. This month we are featuring sneak peeks from the upcoming 2015 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogs. You can order from the catalogs starting January 6, 2015. If you are following along on the tour you have arrived here from Melissa Davies blog. Such awesome projects as always. I have two cards and a treat holder for you today! I kept my theme very masculine too! Love all of the new “guy” stamp sets and Designer Series Paper in the new catalog!

Lets get started with my first card which is a birthday card. The card base is Soft Suede Card Stock and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake that I embossed with my favorite, the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. A piece of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack is adhered on top of that. To create my tag I used the new Ornate Tag Topper punch and a piece of Very Vanilla. My image is from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with my Crumb Cake and Skin Tone Assortment Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. A piece of Gold Baker’s Twine is knotted in the top and the tag is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few dots of Crystal Effects keep the tails in place. My greeting is from the Four You Stamp Set and is heat embossed on Vellum and cut out with the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits. Some carefully placed 2-Way Glue adheres it to the card. I love the new Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack, the photographic pages are great and they are all neat prints on the other side!

Control Freaks December Tour Card 1-WM

The second card that I have for you is a masculine take on a shaker card. For this one I used Island Indigo Card Stock for the card base. The background is another piece of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack backed with a piece of Basic Black before adhering it to the card base. I used the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlit to cut out a piece of Vellum. The greeting is from the Adventure Awaits Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I put the envelope together with some Fast Fuse Adhesive and before closing the last flap I sprinkled in some Frosted Sequins and a few light blue ones that I had. The envelope is adhered to the card with some more Fast Fuse and two pieces of Stacked with Love Designer Washi Tape are placed on the top and bottom. I love the rippled water picture with the Island Indigo and Basic Black. The envelope makes a cool shaker for the sequins too!

Control Freaks December Tour Card 2-WM

For my final project I have a little treat bag. This is a made with a new Thinlit that’s pretty cool! Some Crumb Cake Card Stock is cut out with the new Mini Treat Bag Thinlits. I used some of the other elements in the Thinlits to cut out the two star borders and the center window. A piece of Window Sheet is adhered behind the middle cut out and some Night of Navy behind the stars. The enjoy is cut out form a piece of Silver Foil Sheet and adhered to the window with Multi-Purpose Glue. I put the bag together with Sticky Strip and slid a rather large chocolate chip cookie inside. A pretty neat way to give a little gift and since you make the bag yourself it can be made from and Designer Series Paper or Card Stock. You can coordinate it with anything that you would like!

So there is a nice big sneak peek at some of my favorite things from the upcoming 2015 Occasions Catalog! I hope that you enjoyed the card and treat bag and that you have found a little inspiration for what you might like from the catalog! Now you can continue on with the tour by visiting the talented Judy DiScipio’s blog. She has some fun stuff for you! SUO Challenges 108

Hmm… so lets see, I had two blog tours in a row so I did’t get to tell you about Sunday! LOL! Sunday was a fun day! I met Michael at the Scrapbook store at noon. Dyan Reaveley was there teaching a class. She is a lovely English lady that has a line of stamps, stencils, ink, etc. called Dylusions with Ranger. Michael introduced me to her and we chatted for a bit. You can see Dyan’s blog HERE. After that we went to lunch in Farmingdale and there just happened to be a street fair so we took a peek that too. From there we stopped at Michaels and then by Kim and Brian’s for a bit. Later on I stopped by Andrew’s to drop off some vitamins, he’s not feeling well and has a busy week ahead of him so we are hoping to keep the cold at bay! As if being sick wasn’t enough he dropped his iPhone in water and came by to get some rice to put it in. Fingers crossed that all is well when he turns it on this morning. Everything always happens at once doesn’t it?! So all in all I had a great weekend and got to see lots of peeps which always makes me happy!!

Before we get to today’s post here are the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up!…

Weekly Deals 10-21-2014 2

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our The Treats the Thing challenge. I decided that I needed to make another shaker something so this is what I came up with. I took one of the Tiny Treat Boxes and covered the four sides with some All is Calm Designer Series Paper. I decided that the top was a good place for my shaker and I had just gotten some really snowy looking glitter (I know, I don’t really like glitter, but I’ll make an exception every once in a while!) so it needed to be a wintry scene on a very small scale! I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Window Sheet and some Lost Lagoon. One of the Shaker Frames is used to hold my glitter. The images are from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the trees in Pear Pizzaz and my Santa and reindeer are markered with Real Red and Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write Markers. The Circles Collection Framelits cut out the images and complete the shaker frame. My tag is a piece of Lost Lagoon that is punched out with the Note Tag Punch. I heat embossed the sentiments in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder from the Cheerful Tags Photopolymer Stamp Set and a piece of White Baker’s Twine tucked under the shaker holds it in place. A fun little shaker box to put a sweet little gift in! That’s my project for the SUO Challenges The Treats the Thing challenge. Let’s see what fun projects you can come up with, head on over to the blog for some more inspiration and upload yours to the gallery! I hope you enjoyed my little shaker box and I thank you for coming by for my little recap. Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

Creation Station Tour – Wondrous Wreath

creation station header

Hi there and happy Sunday! I had a very busy day yesterday. I woke up and crafted for a bit and then I had to get ready for Erika to come over and make Daniel’s birthday decorations. Before that Andrew, my brother, Erika and I went to Croxley’s Ale House for lunch. We met two of my brother’s friends there and had a very nice lunch. They have 10 Cent wings and really good burgers and a very large selection of beer! After lunch we came back to my house and Erika and I worked on Daniel’s party decorations and Andrew worked on moving the rest of my blog over. The decorations are mostly finished and there is only one more piece to do for the blog. I have already reassigned the jkcardsonline.com web address to the new one, I just have to move the subscribers over and then I will be able to take down this one and only use the new one. For now I will be posting on both blogs, hopefully only until Monday! As I said I will also send out a test post to make sure that all of you are getting the emails. Thanks for you patience during the transition!

It’s time for another Creation Station Blog Tour and this month we are featuring the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. Well, it’s generally an all around wreath theme! If you are following along with the tour you have arrived here from the talented Deborah Smart’s blog. Such great projects!! I have a card and a home decor project for you today so let’s get to them!

First up is a neat Christmas card. For the base I used a piece of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. My wreath is from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Vellum Card Stock. I sprinkled some Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder over the image and used my Heat Tool to set it. When you stamp on Vellum the ink takes a while to dry so it the perfect excuse to heat emboss it! I stamped it again with the berries from the set and used Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder for those. The Wondrous Wreath Framelits cut it out and some Multi-Purpose Glue adheres it to the card. The bow is from the same set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and also cut out with the Framelits. A little bit of Stampin’ Dimensional holds it to the wreath. I cut the Joy out from the Wonderful Wreath Framelits from a piece of Cherry Cobbler and heat embossed it with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder twice. I think that it gives it a very cool look, almost like patent leather. Some more Multi-Purpose Glue adheres that to the card. I love the simple elegance of the card and especially the shine on the Joy!

My next project is a fun wreath that will go on my wall somewhere in the house. I used a simple twig wreath that I had laying around in the Stampin Galley for my base. To create the bow I used the Gift Bow Bigz L Die and some Red Glimmer Paper. The berries around the wreath are also Red Glimmer Paper that I punched out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch. In the center hanging from apiece of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine is a piece of Vellum Card Stock that I cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. My letters are Gold Glimmer Paper and I used the Little Letters Thinlits to cut them out and I adhered them with Multi-Purpose Glue. The ampersand is Red Glimmer Paper and is cut out with one of the dies from the Label Card Thinlits. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals pieces to adhere that then tied it to the wreath. The bow and all the “berries” are adhered with hot glue to make sure that they stay in place! I love the sparkle of all of the Glimmer Paper and the unexpected hanging greeting in the middle!
