Exciting news people, it’s Thursday already! Yesterday was a pretty good day. I went and picked up Andrew and took him to LaGuardia for his flight to Los Angeles. It took me less time to drive there than it did to get home from work last night, and I work 10 minutes from my house! The roads around here are not in good shape but the parkways are great. Couple that with the fact that a lot of people didn’t got to work yesterday and it was almost a perfect ride to and from the airport. I had one minor glitch, apparently I had no washer fluid left so my windshield was white the whole time! Not very good especially when the sun hit it. I managed to get home in one piece and promptly filled up the reservoir. Work was good, it was only from 12:00 to 5:00 today, every day should be like that! Andrew’s flight left 25 minutes late but they got to LA on time. I hope he has a great time!

I’m very late this week posting my Paper Players card, not sure what happened! LOL!. This week the challenge is a clean and simple one layer card from wonderful Sandy…

    Paper Players #179

I had a little vision when I read the challenge and then I kept forgetting to make the card! LOL! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Fine Feathers Stamp Set to heat emboss the image on the base using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some Island Indigo and Garden Green are applied using eye shadow sponges to give it color. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set (apparently a favorite of mine this week!) and is stamped in Island Indigo. It doesn’t get much cleaner or simpler than that! I really love the way the feather looks with inks sponged, I used the eye shadow applicators to get a little more precise control. There is my card for this week’s Paper Players CAS One Layer challenge. I really hope that you enjoyed it and thanks for sharing in my day! 🙂

So, I think I mentioned that we were supposed to get snow yesterday. They said it was supposed to start around 12:00, well it started at 8:00 and boy did it snow! There was about 5 inches on the ground when they let us out of work at 2:15. My usual 10 minute ride home was a leisurely 40 minutes. It was nice to get out of work early though because I came home and crafted the evening away! My boss called me and asked to put on the company website that we would have a delayed opening today at 12:00 which is very convenient because I’m taking Andrew to the airport this morning. Hopefully the roads will be cleared and it will be an uneventful trip. He is going to LA where it is warm and I’ll admit I’m a little jealous! 🙂

Today is Wednesday so that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This time around we have a fun simple sketch for you…

    PCCCS077 1-22-2014

I was feeling nostalgic when I sat down to make my card so I dusted off an old favorite of mine! My card base is Very Vanilla Card Stock and the background is a piece of Chocolate Chip that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I keep using the reverse side of the folder, I like it better for some reason! My tag is created using the Angled Tag Topper Punch and the stamp is the “Vintage” Young Vermillion, I love the image, it’s so detailed and he looks great stamped in Chocolate Chip. The larger flag and the stars are Pistachio Pudding, the stars are punched out with the Merry Minis Punch pack and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is also stamped in Chocolate Chip. The three banners are from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** and are stamped in Pistachio Pudding and punched out with the Banner Punch**. I really do still love that little bird and he looks right at home with the modern elements on the card. So there you have my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch. Don’t forget to visit the blog and check out this week’s other inspiration from the rest of the Design Team and enter your card in the gallery so I can see your masterpiece. Thank you for spending some time with me today, I hope that you have a good Wednesday! 🙂

Good day, peeps! Now that we have Monday under our belts we can get on with the rest of the week. My day was pretty average. Work was work, came home, crafted, hung out with Andrew, ran some errands, done! Fabulous news on the weather tonight! Six to twelve inches of snow on the way starting tomorrow at noon. YAY!… NOT. What’s going on in your neck of the woods? If it’s warm where you are, do you have a spare room? LOL!

My inspiration for today’s card comes from this week’s Mojo Monday sketch and it’s a nice, simple sketch from Teresa Kline…

    Mojo329

I used the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper as a starting point for my colors. The card base is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. A strip of the Retro Fresh DSP goes across the middle with a strip of Coastal Cabana on top of that and tucked underneath is a piece of Tangerine Tango that I cut with the Fringe Scissors. Some Gold Foil Sheet is cut out with the Starburst Collection Framelits Dies and I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and my Paper-Piercing tool to pierce the circle. My greeting comes from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set and is stamped in Tangerine Tango; that is also cut out with the Starburst Framelits. Definitely a simple card but I love the color combination from the DSP. And the Gold Foil Sheet looks really cool when it’s paper-pierced. Thanks for taking a look at my Mojo Monday card for this week’s sketch challenge. Your visits and comments are always greatly appreciated and I hope you all have a nice Tuesday! 🙂

  • Control Freaks January Blog Tour

    freakwelcome2013

Hello everyone and welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour featuring products from the 2014 Sale-A-Bration Catalog and Love! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the talented Mary Brown’s blog. I’m excited to share my two cards with you, both of them contain some love so let’s get to them!

My first card uses some neat Sale-A-Bration goodies and is simple but fun! The base of the card is Strawberry Slush Card Stock and my background is a piece of Blushing Bride. I stamped the greeting from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set in Strawberry Slush on the background and again on a piece of Whisper White. The heart is then cut out using the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and adhered over the other greeting with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My banners are from the Banner Blast Stamp Set** and are stamped in Strawberry Slush and Blushing Bride. I used the Banner Punch** to punch them out and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of White Bakers Twine goes behind the banners to give them something to hang from. I really like the greeting stamped in the popped up heart, it give the card a little something unexpected and the banners are just fun!

CF Jan Blog Tour Card 1-WM

My second card starts with a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock that I trimmed off the two top edges of to give it a tag look. A piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack makes the background with a Tea Lace Paper Doily on top of that. Along the bottom is a piece of Real Red that I trimmed with the Adorning Accents Edgelit Dies. I used the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies to cut out the hearts that are stamped in Coastal Cabana and Pool Party from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them to each other and the card. The greeting is from the Just Sayin” Stamp Set and are stamped in Coastal Cabana and Pool Party. Up top there is a piece of Real Red that I punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and a piece of twine from the Sweet Shop Accessory Pack** is tied in a bow. The Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack has some great colors in it and I do love that Just Sayin’ Stamp Set!

  • Happy Sun & Clouds

Hello there! How nice to see you today! I hope your weekend is turning out to be a good one. Mine is pretty good so far. I had a lovely time in Manhattan yesterday. It was so nice to wake up and be in the city already and not have to drive in. I had a nice relaxing morning with Kim and then went to see my friends Jim & Diane. After that I met Kim for some lunch at the Shake Shack. They have really good burgers, shakes and fries, you need to be bad every once in a while right?!?! We wandered over to BestBuy for a bit and then went back to her apartment and watched a little TV. I came home and finished up some crafty projects before relaxing with a book for a bit before bed. A very nice day indeed. When I got to Manhattan I’m usually on the Upper East side and find myself on Lexington Avenue a lot. I took this picture of Butterfield Market. They have been there for a long time and they have some really tasty treats inside. If you ever find yourself in the are you should definitely stop in for some goodies!

    Butterfield

I find that I need a quick simple card every once in a while just to say hello, how are you. The See Ya Later Stamp Set from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog is perfect for those cards. I also wanted to see if I could make a card and not use 20 products! LOL! Here is what I came up with. My card base is Basic Black Card Stock. I stamped the greeting on the background of Smoky Slate from the See Ya Later Stamp Set** in Basic Black. My sun is a piece of Crushed Curry that I cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies. I used the Word Bubbles Framelits to cut out my clouds and adhered them with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the way the cut outs mirror the stamp and the bright pop of Crushed Curry says it all! So what do you think? Pretty neat for a simple card. I hope you enjoyed it and my little Saturday recap. Thank you for visiting and have a super Sunday! 🙂

  • Pals Paper Arts 188

Hello from Manhattan! I ended up coming in last night to stay with my friend Kim. I took the train in and managed to stop at the Apple Store on my way. Who doesn’t like a late night visit to Apple?! It was nice coming in last night but it’s supposed to rain/snow today. It was a very good idea to come in last night rather than drive in today! Sometimes I have those, sometimes! LOL!

My card today is for one of the sweetest group of people, the Pals. This week over at Pals Paper Arts we have a simple sketch…

    PPA 188

Simple sketches seem to be the trend this week! I do love a simple card, but we all know I love a layered up one too! We’ll have to see about one of those tomorrow! My card begins with a piece of Real Red Card Stock. A strip of Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper goes down the left side. I used some Silver Foil Sheet and the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die to trim each side of the DSP. The greeting is from the Tags 4 You Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red. I used the Label Bracket Punch to punch it out. Another piece of Silver Foil Sheet is cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them both to the card. A simple yet bold Valentine and the Silver Foil Sheet add that little extra something. Thanks for coming by to see my card for this  week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. Have a great Saturday!

  • Freshly Made Sketches 119

Guess what?! It’s FRIDAY!! My favorite day of the week!! I only had a four day week but it felt like much more! Yesterday was productive which is always a good thing. We are supposed to get snow tonight into Saturday morning. I’ll be off to Manhattan and I usually drive in but if there is snow maybe not. I think I may call my friend Kim and see what she’s up to, maybe I’ll stay by her Friday night! It’s always nice to have options! 🙂

Today my post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. This time around we have a fun sketch from Cindy L….

    Freshly Made Sketches #119

I’m loving the Sale-A-Bration Catalog this year, so much that I find myself wishing that it was in the Occasions Catalog instead! My card today starts with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set for my greeting, stamped in Basic Black right on the base. The angled background paper is from the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper Pack**. For the flagged strip across the top half and the flowers I used the Petal Parade Stamp Set**. The strip is stamped in Pistachio Pudding with my Stamp-a-ma-jig and the flowers in Crisp Cantaloupe and Summer Starfruit. I punched the flowers out with the 1 1/4″ and 1 3/4″ Circle Punches and adhered all of the pieces to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do love the colors in the Designer Series Paper and the stamp set has so many fun elements in it! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. Your visits and comments make my day! Enjoy your Friday everyone! 🙂

Hello my crafty peeps! How is your week going so far? Mine is not too bad, work was filled with meetings today. Not my favorite I will admit. After work I ran some errands and relaxed for a bit. The fog rolled in again last night, we have had a lot of fog lately but is seems to be gone this morning. It’s supposed to rain here today and we might get some snow on Saturday. I really am finished with winter! I think I need to have a fundraiser so I can head on over to Oz to see some of my peeps over there! It’s summertime right?!?! 🙂

On a Stampin’ Up! related note while we were at Leadership we got a sneak peek at the next two Paper Pumpkin Kits. The ones for February and March and let me tell you they are amazing! If you were a subscriber and cancelled now is the time to sign up again. They will not send you another starter kit! If you have never subscribed you will definitely want to. The February kit is great but the March kit is a “must have”! I think I will be getting more than one of each that’s how good they are! If you want to subscribe you can click here! I assure you that you will not be disappointed!

My inspiration for today’s card comes from this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. This time around Theresa Kline has given us a very simple sketch…

    Mojo328

Soft Sky Card Stock was my choice of a base color today. Since it is a simple sketch, I decided to use a bold background – a piece of Designer Series Paper from the High Tide Designer Series Paper Pack. Above that is another piece from the same DSP pack that is backed with a piece of Smoky Slate Card Stock. The greeting is from the Hello, Sailor Stamp Set and is stamped in Pacific Point. I backed the Whisper White with another piece of Soft Sky and popped it up with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. A very simple card that would work really well for a masculine birthday, and it’s highly mailable too! It’s always nice to have you stop by and see what I’m up to. I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  • Paper Craft Crew 76

First day back to work… not too bad! It was nice to see my co-workers, they sort of missed me too! It rained here all day today but that’s better than snow! I had to run and see my friend Betty after work and give her some Mac tutoring, bonus, she made some delicious meatloaf for dinner. Nice comfort food for a dreary day like yesterday. 🙂

It’s Wednesday so that means that today’s post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch…

    PCCCS076 1-15-2014

I was going to go with the colors in the sketch because I really like them but as you will see from my card I went in the complete opposite direction! My card base is Basic Gray Card Stock and my background is a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder**. A strip of paper from the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper Pack goes down the left side of the card. I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and some Whisper White for my tag. The greeting is from the See Ya Later Stamp Set** and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple. For my flags I used the Banner Blast Stamp Set** inked with Bermuda Bay, Gumball Green and Summer Starfruit and the Banner Punch** is used to punch them out. Three Basic Gray Candy Dots finish off the card. Lots of colors but I think they all work thanks to the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper! So there you have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Hop on over to the blog to see my talented co-designers take on the sketch and enter your card in the gallery for us to see! Thank you for checking in, have a wondrous Wednesday! 🙂

Sigh… not a happy Tuesday for me, it’s the first day back to work. I’m kidding! LOL! I’m looking forward to seeing my co-workers. Of course I would rather stay home and stamp the day away but for now that isn’t an option! I need to pay for them right?! LOL! I had busy day yesterday, went into Manhattan for a bit for a little crafty time with my friend Isabella. When I got home I tried to get some stuff done around the house but the craft area was calling my name, maybe tomorrow! Here are few more pictures form Leadership! The first one is Ann, Brian, Anne Marie and me, the new Paper Players! LOL! Kidding!

My card starts off with a base of Bermuda Bay Card Stock. The background is a piece of Crushed Curry cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit Die. I used the Geometrical Stamp Set to stamp the black hexagons and filled in some of the spaces with Strawberry Slush hexagons. The tag is created with the Angled Tag Topper Punch. The greeting is also from the Geometrical Stamp Set, stamped in Basic Black, I used the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to cut out pieces of Bermuda Bay and Strawberry Slush to fill in the O’s. A strip of paper from the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper Pack goes across the bottom. A pretty simple card but I really do love that Hexagon Hive Thinlit Die and a tag makes everything better! I appreciate you stopping by to see my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges. Don’t forget to head on over to the blog to see what the other designers have come up with and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the challenge! I hope you have a terrific Tuesday and I’ll see you back here tomorrow morning!
