Happy Friday everyone! Did you all enjoy the Stylin’ Stampin’ Blog Tour yesterday? I liked doing some cards with fabric, it was a nice change of pace. What is on for the weekend? We are supposed to get up tp 18 inches of snow here tomorrow night so it looks like if that’s true I’ll be crafting a lot this weekend and I have no problem with that at all! I’m hoping that they are wrong because we all know how I feel about snow!

Today I have my Create with Connie and Mary Challenge card for you. This week we have an In-Color challenge…

    CCMC 238

I was feeling something super clean and simple so this is what I came up with. The base of the card is Calypso Coral Card Stock. I took a piece of Whisper White and drew a line up on the left side 1″ in to help me line up the stamp from the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set that I inked up in Calypso Coral. I used a Hi-Polymer Eraser to erase the line when I was done. They are great because they leave no trace behind at all. If you don’t have one you really should get one! The greetings are from the Ciao, Baby! Stamp Set and are stamped in Island Indigo and Lucky Limeade. I used the Petite Curly Label Punch to punch them out and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Like I said, super clean and simple. I hope you enjoyed my Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge card today. Thanks for stopping by and keep your fingers crossed that weather man is wrong!

  • Stylin’ Stampin’ Blog Tour February 2013

    Blog Hop 2-2013

Good morning! How are you today? Everything is chugging right along this week so no complaints from me! Today I have my post for this month’s Stylin’ Stampin’ Blog Tour. This month we are featuring projects that use fabric. You may have arrived here from Kim Ryden’s blog. She had some neat projects didn’t she?! Today I have two cards for you and both contain some linen fabric.

First up I have what I like to call the mummy card. The card starts off with a base of Primrose Petals Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of River Rock, which has to be my most under used color. To give it a little extra detail I used the Essential Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to make the scallop along the bottom. The panel is created with some linen fabric that I picked up at a craft store. I cut it into strip and used some Sticky Strip to hold it in place around the back and also to adhere it to the card. The little bandaids are form the Patterned Occasions Stamp Set and are stamped in River Rock and Primrose Petals. I cut them out with my Paper Snips and adhered them to the linen strips with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is form the same set and is stamped in Primrose Petals and punched out with the Word Window Punch. I really like the Primrose with the River Rock. They go quite nicely together. After seeing the card you can see why I call it the mummy card!

Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop 2-2013

Next up is a card that contains an item that I forgot I had and it’s the first time I’m using it! The base of this card is Whisper White Card Stock. I cut out a piece of Whisper White with The Lattice Bigz Die and backed it with a piece of Bashful Blue. Before I adhered it to the Gumball Green piece I used some White Stampin’ Emboss Powder to emboss the Thanks so much form the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set. The butterfly is a piece of burlap that I cut out with the Beautiful Butterflies Bgz L Die. For the body I made a paper bead from some First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper. A Mini Glue Dot holds the butterfly and body in place. The flower is some more of the linen fabric that I used on the first card that I cut out with the Fun Flowers Bigz L Die. I used a Stampin’ Spritzer that I filled with some Primrose Petals Re-Inker and half water and half rubbing alcohol to spray the flowers to color them. I put them under my desk lamp to speed the drying and they curled up a little which I was quite happy about. I used some more Mini Glue Dots to hold them on the card and a Large Basic Jewel Pearl is placed in the middle. The card has a nice slightly vintage yet modern feel about it. I really did like making the flower, it was fun!

  • Paper Craft Crew Sketch /Color 027

So, how are all of you today? I’m well, happy that it’s Wednesday. I have a Stampin’ Up! order coming today too, so some new goodies. I find that sitting down at the end of long day and being creative for a few hours is the best way for me to wind down. Sometimes I listen to music but most of the time I just enjoy the quiet. What do you do when you stamp? Do you have a separate space or do you just spread out over the kitchen table? Do you like the quiet or are you rockin’ out as you make stuff?

Wednesday means it’s Paper Craft Crew time! This week we have a sketch and color challenge for you. You con do one or both. I did both this week. Here are the particulars…

    PCCCS028-Sketch

The colors are So Saffron, Wild Wasabi and Perfect Plum.

For the base of my card I started with a piece of Perfect Plum Card Stock. The background is a piece of So Saffron that I stamped in rows with the Amazing Accent Stampin’ Around Wheel in So Saffron. For the piece of Wild Wasabi on the left I embossed it with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. I cut out a piece of Very Vanilla with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and used my Stamp-a-ma-jig with the Amazing Family Stamp Set in Perfect Plum. Some Paper-Piercing is done part of the way around with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. I stamped the friend in Wild Wasabi on another piece of Very Vanilla and flagged the one end. To give it a little definition I ran the side of my Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Write marker along the edges and adhered it to the label with SNAIL. A piece of Perfect Plum makes the base for the 5/8″ Flower Trim that is held in place with a Mini Glue Dot. Some Wild Wasabi punched out with the Blossom Builder Punch creates the leaves. I like the color combination a lot more than I thought I would and the Amazing Family stamps fit great inside the label. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s challenge. Click on over to the Paper Craft Crew site and check out the other designers creations and upload one of yours. Thank you for visiting me today. I hope that the rest of your Wednesday is terrific!

  • Mojo 279

Hello there! One day down, four more to go! How was your Monday? Mine was actually pretty good. I had techniques class last night and we always have a great time. I have to say that if I could craft all day I would be the happiest person on the planet! Steve Jobs once said that “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” I have definitely found what I want to do!!

Tuesday means it’s time for this week’s Mojo Monday post. Julee Tilman has provided us with a nice sketch this week…

    Mojo279

I have some more Valentine’s cards to make so I thought this would be a great sketch for that. I used my favorite stamp set, that unfortunately didn’t carry over, Affection Collection. My card starts off with a base of Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is created with a piece of Pool Party embossed with the Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the square of Primrose Petals on top of that I used the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. The piece of paper is from the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack and is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A thin piece of Basic Gray is embossed with the Needlepoint Border Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The greeting and the image behind the greeting are from the Affection Collection Stamp Set (Vintage). I stamped the scalloped image in Pool Party and cut it out with my Paper Snips. The love is stamped in Primrose Petals and punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A button from the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack has some Pool Party Bakers Twine threaded through and is adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. I love the way that all of the elements of the card go together and the Pool Party/Primrose Petals color combo with the slivers of Basic Gray is just great. I hope that you enjoyed my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for this week. I really appreciate your visit and hope to see you back soon! Have a lovely day!

  • Splitcoast Creative Crew February Challenges

Monday… back again! That weekend really flew by! What did you all do for the Super Bowl? I went to my friends house and had a good laugh and played with the little ones. It’s always a good time! I have to order my February 25th Anniversary Stamp Set and the Sent with Love bundle, I can’t wait to get that little plane! Did you order yours yet?!

For today’s post I have my Splitcoast Creative Crew projects for the February challenges. They come up with some good ones over there! I’m going to show you each card and then the products separately at the end. 🙂

My first card is f0r the Focus Challenge. They choose a doily as the product focus this month. I could be a stamped, punched or a paper one, I choose the new Tea Lace Paper Doilies for my project. The base of this card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Distressed Dots Background Stamp, inked in Certainly Celery, with some Certainly Celery for my background. Next, I adhered a Tea Lace Paper Doily to the card with SNAIL. The tea cup, and all of the other stamps, are from the Tea Shoppe Stamp Set. The tea cup is stamped in Versa-Mark on Certainly Celery and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used my Sponge Daubers to “color in” some areas using the emboss resist technique with Wisteria Wonder. The greeting at the top is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. I backed it with a piece of Whisper White that i cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The tea bag is stamped in Wisteria Wonder on Certainly Celery and punched out with the Large Tag Punch (Vintage) and backed with a piece of Whisper White punched out withe the Extra Large Tag Punch. I punched a hole in the top and used some Wisteria Wonder Bakers Twine for the string. I love the Tea Shoppe stamps with the Tea Lace Paper Doilies, they make a fun card!

    CCREW0213CF

Next up we have a Color Challenge. The colors are Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Pretty in Pink, Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I stamped the Woodgrain Background Stamp in Sahara Sand on Sahara Sand for the background. The greeting and the butterflies are from the Cross My Heart Stamp Set. The greeting is stamped in Raspberry Ripple and cut out with my Paper Snips. For the butterflies I stamped them in Primrose Petals and punched them out with the 1″ Square Punch. Some Pretty in Pink is punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch and used to back the butterflies. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I think the postage stamps work well around the greeting and I like the woodgrain background.

    CCREW0123DF

For my final card we had a Holiday Challenge. I went with Valentine’s Day since it the next one! The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for my background. The hearts and flag are form the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set. The large scallop heart is stamped in Primrose Petals, the smaller heart in Pool Party on Pool Party and the flagged one in Primrose Petals. They are all cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Collection Dies. The tickets are from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set and are also stamped in Primrose Petals and I punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the tickets and the Honeycomb folder is definitely one of my favorites!

  • Paper Players 131 🙂

Hello everyone! The weekend is just flying by again as usual. I had a nice morning in Manhattan yesterday, I got all of the things I wanted to get done done! It snowed here again last night, just about an inch and is still bitterly cold. The child and I went to Panera for dinner last night and had some quality time, always a good thing.

It’s Sunday so that means it time to play along with the Paper Players again! Before we get to this week’s challenge I wanted to congratulate Linda on being my choice for Cut Above on last week’s sketch challenge. This week Nance has a theme for us…

    Paper Players 131 2-03-2013

Not my favorite, or anyones favorite, card to make. They are unfortunately a necessary thing though. I think they should be as simple as possible so I kept my card just that. The base of my card is Chocolate Chip Card Stock. I stamped the flower images form the Nature Walk Stamp Set in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla. The greeting is stamped on it too from the Word Play Stamp Set in Chocolate Chip. The bird is also from the Nature Walk Stamp Set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip. I backed him with some Chocolate Chip and adhered him with some SNAIL. Simple but not sad, that’s my rule for sympathy cards. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this weeks Paper Players Challenge from Nance. Click on over to the Paper Players blog to see what the rest of the design team has for you and enter you card so we can see what you come up with. Thank you for visiting with me and I hope you have a nice day.

  • Fab Friday Sketch 11

Hey there! It’s Saturday and I’m off to Manhattan this morning. I think I’m driving in so there will be no reading on the train today. It is bitterly cold here and quite windy. I went to dinner with Danielle, Anthony and Bill last night to Applebee’s. They have a Southwest Chopped Chicken Salad that is quite good. How are all of you doing today?

Before we get to today’s card did you see the cool little promotion that Stampin’ Up! has from now until April 30th? I have been wanting an airplane stamp for a while and wouldn’t you know it there is one in the new set! I really like the Designer Series Paper in it too. You can get a bundle of the Sent With Love Clear Mount Stamp Set, Sent with Love Designer Series Paper and a package of Calypso Coral Bakers Twine for only $25.50. That 20% off the price if you buy them separately. You can click on the flyer below to download a PDF to take a closer look.

Now on to the post! Today’s card is for the Fab Friday Challenge. This time we have a sketch…

    Fab Friday Sketch 11

It was funny that when I saw it I thought that I would use one of these little paper bags that I picked up from the craft store. The base of my card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock. Down the middle is a piece of Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper. On top of that is the little paper bag that I stamped with the Sunshine Clear Mount Single Stamp in Tangerine Tango. The sun over the “o” is a piece of Tangerine Tango that I punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. I put it back in and punched it again to get the “pinked” edge. In the middle is a piece of Daffodil Delight that I punched out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch. For the banner across the bottom I flagged the ends of a piece of Tangerine Tango and stamped an image from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set in Tangerine Tango. The best part is that you can put a gift card or a little note inside the paper bag! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday Sketch challenge. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day! 🙂

  • Create with Connie and Mary 237

Woo hoo… it’s Friday! The end of another work week and the start of the glorious weekend! Do you all have some good stuff planned for this weekend? I’m off to Manhattan on Saturday morning and then I plan to have a relaxing day on Sunday. There is always so much to do and just not enough time to do it all. If I could give up sleep I gladly would! I could get so much more done!

Today’s post is for this weeks Create with Connie and Mary. This week we have a sketch challenge from the ladies…

    CCMC 237

A nice clean layout with some great possibilities. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Midnight Muse with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Before I adhered it to the card with SNAIL I used some Sticky Strip on the ends of the Pool Party ribbon from the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack to hold it in place. The panels are Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper and are cut out with the Scallop Rectangle Clearlit. I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut 1/3 off of each one and adhered them to the background with SNAIL. The fun little whale is form the Oh, Whale! Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse and cut out with the Happy Whale Clearlit. I mounted him to the card with some Stampin’ Dimensionals and used the same to adhere the greeting that is from the same stamp set and is stamped in Pool Party. I punched it out with the Word Window punch, it fits just perfectly! I really like the Pool Party and Midnight Muse together and the whale really is cute. I hope that you like my Create with Connie and Mary challenge card for this week. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a fantastic Friday!

  • Freshly Made Sketches #71

Hello peeps! What’s going on in your neck of the woods? Same old same old here on Long Island. But the week is almost over, time seems to moving along at a rapid pace. I can’t believe that we are at the end of January already! Ahh… but before you know it it will be spring! I like the fact it stays light past 5 o’clock now. More daylight always means more happy!

So today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. But before I get to that I want to thank one of the amazing Demonstrator Support Reps from Stampin’ Up! Last week I email Demo Support because I wanted to know exactly how they made one of the cards they demoed at Leadership. I thought it was strange that I had not heard back, they usually get back to you within two days. Well, I got an email from Pam today with the instructions and an apology for the delay. Thank you very much Pam! You made my evening. I’m thanking Pam in the hopes that she sees this because there is no way for us to email the same rep back so, today’s card is for Pam. 🙂

This week’s sketch is provided by the clever Linda C….

    Freshly Made Sketches #71

I love that fact that it has a tag on it. I haven’t done anything with a tag in a long time. The base of my card is Sahara Sand Card Stock. It is definitely my new Crumb Cake. I love the grayish sand color! The background is made with a piece of Island Indigo embossed with the Vine Street Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I created the tag using my Simply Scored Tool. I cut a piece of Sahara Sand to 1 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ and used the Diagonal Plate to score the corners and then cut the off with my Stampin’ Trimmer. The reinforcement at the top is punched first with a regular hole punch and then with the 1/2″ Circle Punch. I used a stamp from the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set inked in Sahara Sand to give the tag some texture. The feathers (my question to DS) are made from Creped Filter Paper and the Blossom Builder Punch. I sponged them in Island Indigo and adhered a piece of Whisper White Bakers Twine on the back and used my Paper Snips to cut in at an angle along the edges. They make some really nice looking feathers! They are adhered to the tag with Multipurpose Glue. The flower is from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo on Sahara Sand and cut out with the Floral Frames Collection Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Island Indigo punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and a piece of Sahara Sand punched out with the  1 3/8″ Circle Punch. An In-Color Printed Brad holds it together and the flower and the tag are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting I stamped a piece of Sahara Sand with the vine from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set in Sahara Sand and then stamped the greeting form the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set in Island Indigo. A flagged end and some SNAIL and the card is complete. I hope that you enjoyed my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. Thank you for taking some time out of your busy day to visit, I always love having you stop by! Have a fantastic day!

  • Paper Craft Crew Sketch 027

Wednesday! Halfway to Friday! So, I have decided to stop obsessing about the weather. I will say one last time that I am looking forward to spring. Yesterday was an early to work day. I’m feeling a bit sluggish today, 5 hours of sleep is apparently not enough for me. I’ll have to see if I can catch up later, probably not! How are all of you today? I am having a quiet week so no complaints on my end. 🙂

For today’s post I have my Paper Craft Crew card. This week we have a sketch…

    PCCCS027-Sketch

I’m really liking the colors in the Sycamore Street DSP from Sale-A-Bration so there is little strip on my card again! The base of today’s card is a piece of Island Indigo Card Stock. Some Sahara Sand is embossed with the Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. I stamped the greeting and the umbrella handle on a piece of Whisper White. The greeting in Tangerine Tango and the umbrella handle in Soft Suede. The top of the umbrella is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with my Paper Snips. I curved it and mounted it to the greeting panel with a Stampin’ Dimensional. All of these elements are from the Rain or Shine Stamp Set. A strip of Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper goes across the top and on top of that is a piece of Pool Party that I embossed with the Needlepoint Border Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The image inside the Soda Pop Top is form the Spring Sampler Stamp Set and is stamped in Tangerine Tango and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I choose a Tangerine Tango Button from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack and put a thin piece of Pool Party through it for the “thread”. Both the Soda Pop Top and the button are adhered to the card with Mini Glue Dots. I really do like this card a lot, I’m usually my worst critic, but this one I like! I hope that you like it too. Thank you for looking at my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoy your day… Rain or Shine!
