Ahh… Wednesday, halfway there people! Yesterday was a another gorgeous day, sunny and warm. We did get a little rain last night, but that’s fine. I came home after work and had to make some cards for Danielle at work. Two Father’s Day and one Birthday. I’ll post them sometime next week after they are given to the respective recipients! As an added bonus Andrew stopped by, it was nice to catch up with him. The fundraiser has kicked into high gear and I think he said that we have 72 baskets so far! Pretty impressive! My new Catalog order should be here tomorrow!! Wee!! I know, I have no patience, I had to talk myself out of next day! LOL!

It’s Wednesday so it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew challenge. Here is this week’s sketch…

    PCCCS096 Sketch 6-04-2014

Today’s card uses all new products from the new 2014-2015 Catalog! I started off with a base of Sahara Sand Card Stock and my background is a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. The tag is created with the Angled Tag Topper Punch from a piece of Mossy Meadow and I used the Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce around the edge. My flower and greeting are from the So Very Happy Stamp Set, the flower is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and punched out with the Blossom Punch. I sponged some Crushed Curry Ink in the middle and used my Bone Folder to curl the petals. The greeting is heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits and pierced again with the Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack. My hearts are punched out with the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack from Blackberry Bliss. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I keep saying how much I like the paper in the Moonlight DSP Stack because there are so many different patterns as you can see from this piece and the green tag really makes the flower pop right off the card, too. So that’s my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge! Go over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with the sketch and show us your creativity by adding your card to the gallery! Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

WOW! What can I say! You are all AMAZING! The wonderful, kind, sweet comments that you all left yesterday made that the best Monday EVER!! I really could not hope to know a better bunch of people! You really did make my day! People at work kept asking my why I was smiling all day! I said because there are some really awesome people out there! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

So yes, my day was wonderful, despite my jobs attempts to thwart it! Work was very busy like it always is. I went to my parents for dinner and then ran to BestBuy to get mom a new iPad Air. She has the first generation one and it was well past it’s prime. I set it up and came home and crafted for a bit, the perfect end to a perfect Monday! Did you all place your orders? I did! 🙂

As for the blog candy, I will choose the winner on Friday! Thanks to all 55 of you that left comments! And yes, I replied to every one! 🙂

Oh, before I forget, here is the Holiday Carry-Over list. There are some really good ones on there, I was very happy to see that both snowflake sets and the Framelits made it! Click here to download a PDF of it so you have it handy!

One last thing, if you scroll down past the products at the ned of the post you can see the Hello Kitty card that I made for my boss to give to her niece.

Now on to today’s post which is my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges blog. This time we ask you to Stamp in the Background. That could be a background stamp or a pattern that you create with stamps. I’m sure you knew that though!

I chose to use the Work of Art Stamp Set. The card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped a rainbow with the Work of Art Stamp Set using Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point and Rich Razzleberry. I backed it with a piece of Gumball Green and adhered it to the base. The greeting is from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set and is stamped in Gumball Green and cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it in place and that’s my card! Very simple but nice and bright and colorful! This card would cheer up anyone’s day, don’t you think?! It would also be a good card to make a bunch of and have on hand! And that’s my SUO Challenges card for our Stamping in the Background challenge. Take a little click over to the blog and see what the rest of the Design Team has done and let’s see what you can do, upload your project to the gallery! Thank you so very much for coming by today. I hope you enjoyed the cards and that you have a wonderful Tuesday! 🙂

  • Blog Post 1000, Paper Players 198 & the New Catalog!!!!

Yup! You read that correctly! Today is my 1000 blog post! I can’t believe that it has been that many! I started my blog on August 6, 2011 before I became a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. I had seen a show on PBS where they made a step card and I thought I can do that. I went out the next day and bought some supplies and made the card. Here is that card…

    JKCards 1st Blog Post

I was so proud, I sent it to my Grandmother for her Birthday and she still has it! The first challenge that I entered was Pals Paper Arts 107! I made a card using my first Stampin’ Up! Set. It was a retired set called Punch Box Terrific Tags and it came with the stamps and a punch in a metal box. Here is a picture of that card…

    PPA107-WM

Wasn’t my stamping and photography great back then?!?! I joined Stampin’ Up! in September of 2011 and started to use exclusively Stampin’ Up! products shortly after that. I decided that today for the first part of my post I would share with you some of my favorites from the past three years. Here they are…

Yes, that’s a lot of cards, but when you think about it for 1000 posts (each post has at least one card, some more!) it’s not really that many! LOL! I am lucky enough to be a part of some amazing blog teams with some of the most creative people out there. The best part of all of this is definitely the friends that I have made. One of the first blogs that I followed was Mary Fish and I got to meet her last year at convention. She is even nicer in person that I could have ever imagined! There are so many other people that I look up to and now can call friends. Brian King and I speak almost every day. I had the most amazing time last September when I went to visit him in Atlanta. We went Zip-Lining and it’s something that I will never forget. Last but certainly not least, all of you that I get to “speak” to every day. You are the reason that I do this and you make it so much fun!

Before I get to today’s regularly scheduled post since it’s a milestone day I think we need some Blog Candy!! Leave a comment on today’s post and I will send you one of my favorite sets from the new catalog, A Happy Hooray! It has a feather in it so of course it’s a favorite. And who knows, there might even be some more goodies in with it!!

Now we get to today’s regular post which is for this week’s Paper Players. My talented friend Sandy has a wedding theme for us…

    Paper Players #198

I decided that I would go for a very non-traditional card. It starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. The background is Very Vanilla and I used the Mr. & Mrs. Stamp with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to stamp just the Mr. & Mrs.! My ampersand is from the Label Card Thinlits Dies and is cut out from some Gold Foil Sheet. Before I adhered the background to the base I used some Sticky Strip to hold a strip of the Gold Sequin Trim across the middle. Up top is another piece of Gold Foil Sheet  under a piece of Red Glimmer Paper that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits. On top of that is a piece of Baked Brown Sugar that I stamped with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black. The heart in the center is cut out with the same Framelits and Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it over the Gold. Finally the banner is stamped with one of the stamps from the “Vintage” Best of Love Stamp Set in Real Red and I flagged the ends before two more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I think it’s a very fun card with a slightly vintage feel to it. The sparkle from the heart and the shine from the gold make it fun! And there is my Paper Players card for this week’s Wedding challenge from Sandy! I want to thank all of you for coming along on this journey with me. Your visits and comments make all of this possible! Whether you have been here since the beginning or just recently joined me I hope that I continue to inspire you and I look forward to the next 1000 posts!

Oh, I almost forgot! You can place your orders from the NEW 2014-2015 Annual Catalog starting today at 12:00PM Mountain Time! Do you have your lists ready, I do!! 🙂

  • Creation Station Blog Tour – Something for Baby

    creation station header

Ahh… Sunday, always a good day! Welcome to the 3rd Creation Station Blog Tour! I’m hoping that you have been along for the previous tours and if so welcome back! If this is your first time with us then welcome! If you are following the Tour you have arrived here from the very clever Deborah Smart. Those were some great projects, right?! I hope that I can give you some ideas on how to use our featured stamp set Something for Baby and accessory the Hamburger Box Die. The post has lots of pictures that I have taken during the process of making the projects so sit back relax and enjoy!

First up is a fun card/tag/pocket! It can be any or all of the previously mentioned! You’ll see what I mean in a minute. I started off with some Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock that I cut to 6 1/2″ x 4″. I used my Simply Scored to score the card stock on the long side at 1 1/2″ and 4 1/2″.

    Creation Station Inst 4

I ran some Sticky Strip down the flap after folding it and adhered it together to form a pocket. A Tea Lace Paper Doily is adhered to the front and around the back with SNAIL. Next I used my 3/4″ Circle Punch to notch out the top.

    Creation Station Inst 1

All of the stamped images are form the Something For Baby Stamp Set and are stamped in Pistachio Pudding, So Saffron and Baked Brown Sugar. I used the Baby’s First Framelits to cut them out and they are adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue to the pocket.

    Creation Station Inst 2

The piece of Whisper White that I slipped inside is cut out with the Banners Framelits and a small hole is punched in the top.

    Creation Station Inst 3

I made a reinforcement for the hole and the threaded some Crisp Cantaloupe Thick Bakers Twine through and tied it in a knot. The greetings on the onesie and the tag are from the Something To Say Stamp Set and are stamped in Baked Brown Sugar. A Mini Glue Dot in the center at the bottom of the pocket keeps the tag from going all the way through. It was a really fun card to make and I love the colors together!

    Creation Station Card 2

    Creation Station Card 1

Up next is a coordinating box that you could use for favors or to give a little gift to someone. I made the box using the Hamburger Bigz XL Die and some Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock. My fellow blog tour mate Jen Arkfeld has a great video on how to make it easier to put the box together, you can check that out HERE. Before I assembled my box I cut a circle out of the top of it with the Circles Collection Framelits.

    Creation Station Inst 5

A piece of Window Sheet is cut to cover the hole and I used Opaque White Staz-On to stamp the Sentiment from the Baby, We’ve Grown Stamp Set.

    Creation Station Inst 6

After I assembled the box I used a greeting from the Something For Baby Stamp Set, stamped in So Saffron and cut out with the Baby’s First Framelits. A piece of Pistachio Pudding that I cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit goes behind it for a little decoration on the front. I’m loving the Hamburger Box Die and the cut out in the top gives it a little extra interest don’t you think?!

    Creation Station Box 1

    Creation Station Box 2

My last project is a card. I love when you can use a set that is specific for one thing for something completely different. The card starts off with a base of Coastal Cabana Card Stock and the background is a piece of Maritime Designer Series Paper. I cut out a piece of Real Red with the Starburst Framelits and then embossed it with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

    Creation Station Inst 9

The tag is created with the Angled Tag Topper Punch and I stamped my greeting from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set in Real Red across the bottom. My ties are from the Something For Baby Stamp Set and are stamped in Coastal Cabana, Real Red and Night of Navy. The Baby’s First Framelits cut them out and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the tag.

    Creation Station Inst 7

A fun easy Father’s Day card from a baby set, love when you can do that!

    Creation Station Card 3

And there you have my third Creation Station post! I really hope that you enjoyed the projects and are inspired by the new 2014-2015 Annual Catalog* goodies! Now you are off to see what Jen Arkfeld has created for you. Don’t forget to check out her video! Thanks so much for coming along, I really hope that you enjoyed yourself! Have a super Sunday! 🙂

  • Modern Gold Feather Hello

Wow that was a long short week! Work was crazy busy yesterday, lots of last minute things to do. I also helped Nancy with her bike. Her and Nicole have their 75 mile bike ride today. I told her that I will miss her! LOL! I can’t even imagine doing that. I stop and think whether I want to drive 75 miles let alone ride! More power to them and I wish them the best of luck! I have lots of projects to make today, tomorrow is the Creation Station blog tour so be sure and come back for that. I also have to get ready for Monday! 😛

I was sitting at my desk last night browsing through the new Catalog and I keep seeing this one project in there that I love so I decided to do a little CASE of it. The card starts off with a base of Crumb Cake Card Stock and the background is a piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. I used two strips of paper from the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper Pack for the flags. A piece of Gold Foil Sheet has some holes punched out with a standard hole punch and happy accident, they lined up nicely with the dots on the DSP! The two feathers are Island Indigo and Basic Black, they are made using the Ovals Collection Framelits and my trusty Paper Snips. I tucked some Gold Sequin Trim behind them and adhered them to the card with Mini Glue Dots. My greeting is from the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Calypso Coral and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. I love the mix of colors with the gold and yes, I’m a bit obsessed with feathers! But you all know that! I hope you got some inspiration from today’s card and that you enjoyed it. Many thanks for stopping by and have a super Saturday! 🙂

  • Just Add Ink 216

Happy Friday peeps! For a 4 day week it sure seemed like 5! It was a gorgeous day here yesterday, sunny and cool. Work was busy, lots of last minute stuff to get done. I came home after work and yes, crafted for a little while. I also had some time to relax and just watch some TV. I have no big plans for the weekend, that’s good. I would like to try to go into the city at some point but I’m not sure if that will happen. I have a big milestone coming up on the blog on Monday, more details to follow!

I haven’t played along with the Just Add Ink challenge in a while so I went over to the blog to see what this week’s challenge was. It’s just add watercolor, sounds good to me!

I decided on a simple collage style card and I got to use one of my favorite little birds again! The card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Pool Party that I embossed using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Texture Boutique. They have had some issues with the Texture Boutique, it doesn’t emboss as deeply as it should. They are going to be sending out new plates to use with it stating in June. I find that the subtle embossing is sometimes neat so that’s what I did here. I stamped the Off the Grid Stamp in Versa-Mark on Watercolor Paper and then heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My Aqua Painter and some Crisp Cantaloupe Ink provide the color. I then used my Paper Snips to cut out the stamped image and some Fast Fix Adhesive holds it to the card. Yes, I think I have lost it, fussy cutting the Off the Grid Stamp, but I really like the way it looks! Three hexagon cut out from Coastal Cabana with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The little bird is from the Nature’s Hello Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold him in place too. A few sequins scattered around finish the card. I love the mix of colors and the simple eclectic feel of the card and hope that you do too! Many thanks for your visiting with me today to see my card for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge. Have an amazing Friday my friends! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches 138

Hello Thursday! It’s always nice to see you! Work was a little crazy yesterday. We have a fashion show this Friday night and someone was supposed to do the program but I was the lucky one that ended up with that task! I love when things get dumped don’t you?! I did have a nice evening when I got home. I made a few cards. My boss asked me to make a birthday card for her soon to be 7 year old niece. I said sure. She said she loves Hello Kitty… hmm… who doesn’t! LOL! I don’t know if I have ever mentioned the fact that I don’t really care much for punch art. I don’t think that I have ever made a punch art card, well, I have now. I will post it in the near future and you can let me know what you think about it!

The other card that I made last night was my one for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Jen T…

    Freshly Made Sketches #138

I love the sketch! I thought of a few different options and settled on this. The card base is Crumb Cake Card Stock and the background is a piece of Mossy Meadow that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My stamped images are from the Perfect Blend Stamp Set. I stamped the coffee cup in Memento Tuxedo Black on Whisper White and cut it out with my Paper Snips. I stamped it again in Jet Black Staz-On on a piece of adhesive cork sheet and cut that out too. The backing is a piece of Vellum Card Stock, I rounded the corners with the Project Life Corner Rounder. A piece of the Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon is stapled to the top and I adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals, hiding them behind the cup. A simple but masculine card that would work well for a birthday or even a just because card. We don’t send enough of those and I think we should make an effort to send more! So that’s my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Jen T. Did you enjoy the card? Let me know by leaving a comment! I love hearing your descriptions and about your day too! Thank you very much for your visit and I’ll see you tomorrow! Have a super Thursday! 🙂

  • Paper Craft Crew 95

Wednesday already! I could really get used to Tuesday being Monday! I’m very happy that you like the three cards from yesterday. As Linda said, we are our own worst critic! It was a little on the muggy side here yesterday and they said it was going to rain today so most of my windows in my apartment were shut. Needless to say it was 88 degrees in the house when I got home. That’s a little warm! There was an awards night at Taylor’s school last night. Taylor received an award for being a model student! She also got to present two awards to teachers that made a difference in her life. It was really neat idea. After the school I came home and just relaxed, it was way too hot to do anything else. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow but it’s also supposed to get a little cooler, no complaints there!

If it’s Wednesday that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

    PCCCS095 5-28-2014

A funky sketch indeed! I was a little puzzled when I first looked at it, I think once I got past the heart I was good! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Hello Honey embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the left and a piece of paper form the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack is on the right. The flower is from the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with my Paper Snips. After the leaves yesterday this was a breeze! LOL! That’s my favorite little bee from the Backyard Basics Stamp Set, he is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Hello Honey and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. The hello is from the Simply Celebrate Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits. I used the new Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce around the edge. My little chevrons are Blackberry Bliss and they are cut out with one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. I love that flower and I’m really going to miss my little bee! There is my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Stop by the blog to see the projects from the other designers and enter your card in the gallery, You may be chosen as a featured artisan! I hope you are enjoying the sneak peeks and my card. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and see what I’m up to! Have a great Wednesday! 🙂

  • Mojo 347 & Pals Paper Arts 205

Technically it was a long weekend but they are never long enough even when they are three days! I did have a very nice time. Yesterday I went out to my brother’s for a BBQ and then came home and relaxed. It really is nice to just sit around for a bit, it never lasts very long though. I always get an itch to do something and that usually results in me sitting at my craft desk. I realized that I didn’t do my Pals Paper Arts card so I made one on Sunday night. Yesterday I decided that I didn’t like it so I made another one. I don’t usually post the cards that I don’t like but it will be at the end of today’s post and you can judge for yourself.

My first card is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

    Mojo347

Tall and skinny, my favorite! The base of the card is Coastal Cabana Card Stock. In the middle is a piece of Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Smoky Slate. The strip across the lower half is also Eastern Elegance DSP, I backed it with a piece of Crushed Curry to make it a little sturdier. The ribbon is Silver 1/8″ Ribbon. Tucked behind it is one of the images from the Happy Day Stamp Set stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. In the middle is one of the greetings from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set, stamped in Crushed Curry and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the whole panel to the card. One of the Basic Metal Buttons is added with a Mini Glue Dot on top of the ribbon and finishes off the card. I have neglected the Eastern Elegance DSP for a while and am glad I got to use it one more time before it goes “Vintage”!

Next up is my final card for the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

    PPA 205

This cad is filled with new goodies! The base is Pistachio Pudding Card Stock and the background is a piece of Hello Honey that I embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The three panels are Lullaby Designer Series Paper backed with Baked Brown Sugar. All of the images are from the Nuts About You Host(ess) Stamp Set. The tree is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. Apparently I lost my mind a little because I stamped the tree again in Pistachio Pudding and fussy cut the leaves out. Nuts right?! (Goes with the name of the stamp set!) The bird is also cut out with my Paper Snips and is stamped in Coastal Cabana and Baked Brown Sugar. My greeting is also stamped in Coastal Cabana and adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I used the 3/4″ Circle Punch to punch out the other little bird, the greeting didn’t make much sense with just the one bird! LOL! The leaves were a lot of work but I think well worth it. I really hope that you enjoyed both cards for Mojo Monday and the Pals Paper Arts challenge. The other Pals Paper Arts card is at the end of the post, I’m sure you will see why I didn’t like it! I appreciate you coming by to see me today. Enjoy your Tuesday peeps! 🙂

  • Paper Players 197

Happy Memorial Day! Let’s not forget that not only does this mark the official start to the Summer season but we also need to remember the men and women that serve in our armed forces and protect our freedoms. It was just a beautiful day here yesterday. I went for a nice ride in the convertible, had some Subway for lunch and watched Red 2. I have been really into these action movies with lots of explosions lately. Hmm… wonder what that is about?! LOL! I’m supposed to go out to my brother’s for a BBQ today and who knows what else?! What fun festivities are you up to today?

Before I get today’s card I wanted to thank all of you for your lovely comments on yesterday’s card. I had so much fun making it and I’m so happy that you liked it so much! You guys make my day and bring a big smile to my face! Holiday or not it’s Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from lovely LeAnne…

    Paper Players #197

I had a pretty good idea of what I was going to do when I first saw the sketch. My card base for today is Sahara Sand Card Stock. The strip of paper down the center is from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. I keep saying that it has great colors and awesome patterns and it does! My panel in the middle is a piece of Hello Honey backed with Blackberry Bliss. I cut the leaves out from Perfect Plum using the Little Leaves Sizzlit. The flowers are from the Petite Petals Stamp Set and are stamped in Blackberry Bliss and punched out with the Petite Petals Punch. My butterfly is from the Nature’s Hello Host(ess) Stamp Set and is also stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. 2-Way Glue holds the leaves and Mini Glue Dots and Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the flowers and butterfly in place. I used the Perfect Plum for the leaves because I thought that the lighter purple in the DSP looked like it. Love the fact that it looks a little like lattice too! I hope that you enjoyed my bright card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. I know that I say it every day but I really do love your visits and I hope that you have a safe and happy Memorial Day! 🙂
