  • Nautical Tags Birthday

A very good Sunday morning to you! I had a nice day in Manhattan yesterday, it was great to see Jim and Diane and catch up with them. After I left their house I met up with Kim and we went to a little Italian place called Felice for lunch and I had the best homemade ravioli! We stopped back at Kim’s apartment for a bit and then headed downtown. At 14th Street we said good bye and I headed over to the Westbeth Center to meet up with Barbara and catch up with her. There are some fun things in the works at The Ink Pad so stay tuned for more on that! I made it home from the city just in time to say goodbye to my Aunt and Uncle, it was great to have them here and they will be missed. This morning I’m headed back into Manhattan to work at The Ink Pad for the day so if you are around come by and say hello!

My friend Michael is on a roll, he has another post today for the Mojo Monday sketch! Some more really neat Halloween cards! You can check them out HERE! 🙂

My friend Danielle had asked me for a birthday card for her boyfriend’s dad’s birthday. He is a big boat fan so this is what I came up with. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. Down the left side is a piece of paper from the Authentique Seaside 6×6 Paper Pad. I used the Simon Says Stamp Large and Small Tags dies to cut out a piece of Night of Navy and another piece of Seaside Paper. On the larger tag I used the Project Life Corner Rounder to round the bottom corners. Using the Simon Says Stamp Sailboat Die I cut the negative from the smaller patterned paper tag and then tied them together with some Hemptique Natural Hemp Cord. They are then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. A piece of Smoky Slate is cut out with the middle size Simon Says Stamp Splashy Waves Die, stamped with Happy Birthday from the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Messages Photopolymer Stamp Set in Night of Navy and adhered to the bottom of the tag. My anchor is a piece of Solar White 110lb that I cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Set Sail Dies and then covered in Versa-Mark and Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder, it’s heat set and then adhered to card with Ranger Multi-Matte Medium. Finally, a few red enamel dots from Recollections are added and complete the card. Danielle was quite happy with the card and I hope that the recipient was too! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card, thanks very much for visiting and have a simple Sunday! 🙂

  • Pals Paper Arts 270

That was an interesting Friday. I found out at work that they are having cuts and my job has been eliminated. I have to go in on Monday and see if there are any other positions available that I would be interested in. I believe that everything happens for a reason, so I need to think about what I want to do. I would like to get a job that I really enjoy or maybe find some way to work for myself. Any suggestions would be appreciated! To go along with that cheerful news it rained here all day yesterday. But I’m off to Manhattan this morning and then at The Ink Pad tomorrow so it will be a good weekend!

And yes, Michael has yet another post for you! That’s three in a row! He’s definitely on a roll! You can take a look at his latest creation HERE!

Now on to today’s card, it’s for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

    PPA 270

I went with a birthday card, they are something that I need to add to my ever growing stash! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. It’s cut to 4″ wide and I heat embossed the chevrons from the Simon Says Stamp I See You Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder down the left side. A piece of Always Artichoke is embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered next to the chevrons with SNAIL. My frame is cut from Sahara Sand using the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Frame Die. I heat embossed the heart image from the same set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Blackberry Bliss and adhered it to the frame with 2-Way Glue. The frame is then adhered to the card with Fun Foam and SNAIL. The happy is also from the same set and is heat embossed in White on Always Artichoke and adhered to the heart with Foam Tape. To balance the card a bit I cut out the 2 and u from more Always Artichoke using the Papertrey Ink Block Alphabet and Numbers Dies. They are adhered to the card with more 2-Way Glue. You knew there had to be some Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins on there somewhere so I did a scattering of them around the heart. I love that geometric heart and the typed sentiments in the I See You Set, so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge! Thanks very much for coming by today! I wish you all a fun Saturday! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches 206

It was another overcast day here until around 5:30 and then the sun came out. We are to have another rainy day today, I guess it’s making up for all of the nice weather we had over the summer! Last night I took my aunt and uncle out to Jackie Riley’s Pub for a few drinks and we met up with Brian. I’m not one to go out to a bar but we had a really nice time! I even ran into my friend Victoria, always nice to see her! A pretty good night for a Wednesday!

Before I headed out last night I made my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

    Freshly Made Sketches 206

A simple shaker card, well about as simple as a shaker card can get, and something nice and bright too! The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. The panel is a piece of Solar White 80lb, I cut out the negative circle with the Circles Collection Framelits. I used the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Circle and Circle Loops dies to cut out some Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Real Red. The Happy Birthday is adhered around the negative circle with 2-Way Glue along with the rest of the die cuts. I adhered a piece of Window Sheet to the back of the panel. Another circle is cut from a piece of 1/4″ Fun Foam and that is then adhered to the back of the panel with SNAIL. Some confetti that I got from Party City is added and the panel is then adhered to the card with some more SNAIL. Like I said, as simple as a shaker card can get and nice and bright! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you so much for stopping by and have a terrific Thursday! 🙂

  • Paper Players 264

That was a pretty nice Tuesday! Work was just as expected and the training was even more fun that I thought it would be (insert sarcasm)! It was an overcast day but didn’t start to drizzle until around 4:00. When I got home I stopped at my house and watched some YouTube videos before heading out to dinner with the family. We went to the George Martin Burger Bar in Massapequa, Erika works there. It’s a new restaurant, it’s only been open for about three weeks. The food was really good and the place is nice. I even have a family picture for you!

    Burger Bar Dinner 9-2015

From left to right: Erika, my Dad, Mum, Aunt Janet, Me, Uncle Steve, my Brother and little Daniel who is always ready for a picture! When we got home I stayed outside talking to my Uncle until it started to rain around 9:30. A very nice evening indeed!

My card that I have for you today is for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Before we get to it I want to thank Laurie for choosing me as her Headliner for last week’s challenge!! You can see my original post here and the winner’s post here. Now on to this week and it’s a sketch…

    Paper Players #264

I used some more goodies from the My Mind’s Eye My Story Collection. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb with the front covered in a piece of Black. On top of that is a piece of paper from the My Story 6×6 Paper Pad. I adhered a piece of My Story Washi Tape to some Solar White 110lb and then adhered it across the middle with SNAIL. The main panel is a journaling card from the My Story Collection and it’s adhered to the card with Foam Tape. One of the buttons form the My Story Chipboard Buttons has some Hemptique Baker’s Twine tied in a bow though it. It’s already got adhesive on the back so that’s what holds it in place. Finally a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins and some Recollections Enamel Dots finish the card. I do love the colors in the My Story collection and the journaling card makes for a different way to add a greeting! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge! I thank you for visiting with me today and I wish you all a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  • SIP Challenge 16 – Card Maker’s Choice!

Monday… why?! LOL! It wasn’t too bad of a day actually. It was in the 80’s and in the middle of the day it rained for about 45 minutes and then the sun was blazing for the rest of the day. Work was busy and I have a training tomorrow, those are always fun! NOT! When I got home my Simon Says Stamp Card Kit had arrived so I played with that for a bit and then watched some TV while Taylor laid in the middle of the floor and watched YouTube on her MacBook. I also spoke to my cousin Jules and she got her new card today. It’s a Citroen C1 in a fun dark gray with a pink roof!

    Jules' New Citroen

Cute car isn’t it?! As you can see it was a sunny day in London today too! In other news after a lengthy hiatus Mr. Trent is back with a blog post! He entered the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week! Click HERE and go on over and give his fun card a peek!

Now on to my card for today, it’s time for another Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge and we have your favorite this week…

    SIP Any Challenge 16 800

Yes! Make anything that you like! I went with a Christmas card featuring the now sold out limited edition collaboration Simon Says Stamp with Lawn Fawn Cheesy Holidays Photopolymer Stamp Set and Dies. The card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of paper from the Lawn Fawn Let’s Bokeh in the Snow 6×6 Paper Pad. Across the bottom is a piece of Chocolate Chip stamped with the Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrops Photopolymer Stamp Set in Early Espresso. The greeting is from the aforementioned Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder. For my snowflakes I used the Lawn Fawn Mini Snowflakes Lawn Cuts. They are cut from Solar White 80lb and adhered to the background with 2-Way Glue. The shaker is made using the Lawn Fawn Ready, Set, Snow Photopolymer Stamp Set and Shaker Additions. I stamped the snowflakes in Smoky Slate, the mice are from the Cheesy Holidays Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Copics. I cut them out with the coordinating Lawn Cuts and adhered them to the background with more 2-Way Glue. The shaker is assembled with 1/4″ Fun Foam, Window Sheet and Score Tape. Some Seed Beads are used for the shaker material and I attached it to the card with some Magnet Tape so you can take it off again! I love that little cheese christmas tree, so cute! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Stamp, Ink, Paper Designer’s Choice Challenge! Don’t forget to stop by the blog and check out the rest of the Team’s cards. • Mojo Monday 417

Another weekend for the books. Went by too fast as it always does. I had a relaxing day. Heather came by and we went out and got some bagels for breakfast. We stopped back at my house and then stopped by my parents so she could say hello to my Aunt and Uncle. After that Heather went to get a manicure so I went to A.C. Moore to see if the had some Iridescent Medium that I wanted to try, it’s supposed to be a bit like Wink of Stella, I’ll let you know! From there we went to Target and picked up some groceries. Heather headed home and I worked on a few projects and finished up my laundry. Later on I ran to Michaels and picked up some goodies and then stopped by my parent’s again to see my Aunt and Uncle. Around 11:40 I went out to look at the Super Moon. Not a bad Sunday. Here is a picture of the moon from earlier in the evening…

Yay! A Tall & Skinny, love those! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with the front covered in a piece of Basic Black. My panel is a piece of paper from the My Mind’s Eye My Story 6×6 Paper Pad and it’s backed with Basic Black and adhered with Fun Foam and SNAIL. Across the bottom is a piece of My Story Washi Tape that I adhered to a piece of Solar White and then to the card with SNAIL. My square is a piece of Basic Black backed with some Blushing Bride and adhered to the card with Foam Tape. The butterfly is cut out from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet with the Simon Says Stamp Leanna Craft Die and adhered to the square with a Glue Dot. I heat embossed the greeting from the Simon Says Stamp Paper Hug Photopolymer Stamp Set in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Basic Black and adhered it to the center of the butterfly with Foam Tape. Finally some Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins finish the card. I do love that My Mind’s Eye My Store collection, great colors and fun embellishments! • Cardinal in the Park

Hmm… Sunday already! There goes that weekend flying by once again! Yesterday I was determined to get some things accomplished. I ran over to Scrap-A-Latte in the morning and picked up some things to start working on next month’s cards for class. When I got back to the house I straightened up a bit and the made a few cards. Around 6:00 I started to head over to Brian and Kim’s for Brian’s birthday, I had to make a few stops along the way. It was nice to see everyone and just laugh! By the time I got back home it was late and I just wanted my bed! LOL! How was your Saturday?

For today’s card I have another Holiday card. I know that I said that it was too early to start on them but the Holiday’s will be here before you know it! LOL! The base for the card is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the new Lawn Fawn Snowy Backdrop to cut out a piece of Soft Sky, it cuts a perfectly sized card front with lots of falling snow. I adhered it to the card with a combination of SNAIL and 2-Way Glue. Across the bottom is a piece of Solar White 80lb, I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders across the top and adhered that to the card with SNAIL. The park bench, lamppost and greeting are all from the Lawn Fawn Winter in the Park Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut out with the coordinating Lawn Cuts. My trees and cardinal are from the Lawn Fawn Joy to the Woods Photopolymer Stamp Set, they are also stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and are also cut out with the coordinating Lawn Cuts. I used my Copics to color in the bird and the lights in the lamppost. Everything but the bench and bird are adhered to the card with 2-Way Glue, Foam Tape holds the others in place. Yes, I have been loving Lawn Fawn lately, probably because they have so many images that are fun to color in! I hope that you enjoyed my Holiday card for today! Thank you very much for taking a little time to come by and see me today! Have a creative Sunday! 🙂

  • Pals Paper Arts 269

Oh yes peeps… it’s FRIDAY!! I headed straight over to Scrap-A-Latte after work to finish cutting for class and set up. The drive over was lovely in the convertible! There were 15 people in class last night and like I said, the cards were complicated so the last one finished around 10:00. Not bad, three hours for four cards that had a lot of coloring! I got home around 10:30 and made a quick card for today’s post.

Oh, and just because you know how I love Sam, his new single for the James Bond movie Spectre is out today! You can listen here!

Sam Smith - Writing's on the Wall

The quick card is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

    PPA 269

I have been in a Lawn Fawn frame of mind lately so I dug out an oldie but goodie! The card base is Neenah Solar White 100lb Card Stock. The balloon, clouds and greeting are from the Lawn Fawn Blue Skies Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped part of the greeting in Memento Tuxedo Black on the card base. A piece of Soft Sky is cut out with the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Circles and adhered to the card with SNAIL. The clouds are heat embossed in Hero Arts White Embossing Powder on Vellum, cut out with the coordinating dies and adhered to the circle with 2-Way Glue. I colored in the balloon with Copics, also cut out with the dies, and adhered that with some Foam Tape. For the word BLUE I used the Lawn Fawn Owen’s ABC’s Photopolymer Stamp Set, stamped in Pacific Point, cut out with the coordinating dies and adhered to the card with some more Foam Tape. I think that this would make a great little pick me up card to send to someone that might be going through a rough patch, it would brighten my day! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge! Don’t forget that I will be posting the class cards tomorrow! Thanks so much for coming by and I wish you all a fantastic Friday! 🙂

  • Freshly Made Sketches 205

Another busy day at the office. The weather here has been really nice though, in the 70’s and sunny. Sort of the same as it was when I was in London! After work I went over to Scrap-A-Latte and did my cutting for card class. I can’t wait to post the cards on Saturday so you can see them! I love them! LOL! When I got home I had a sandwich and then made my card for today. A relatively quiet evening.

And that card is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

    Freshly Made Sketches 205

I wanted to use a cool new die that I recently acquired! My card base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I flagged a piece of My Minds Eye Christmas on Market Street Vellum and adhered it to the card. Next up is the Simon Says Stamp Merry Christmas Ornament Die cut from a piece of Cherry Cobbler with a little SNAIL at the top to hold it in place. Finally a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper is adhered across the top. A quick and simple Christmas card but that die makes it look amazing! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thanks very much for taking some time to stop by and I wish you a very good Thursday! 🙂
