  • Paper Players #121

Monday here again so soon, I really do wish the weekend was just a bit longer. Things seem to have returned to normal here on Long Island. The mass hysteria about gas has subsided and most people have power again. My heart still goes out to all of those that lost so much more than power. The only thing to keep in mind is that time erases most things, in time all will get better.

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week the wonderful Anne Marie has give us a color challenge to play with…

As soon as I looked at it saw a nice Holiday card. We have some red and green, even some gold! The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. I used my En Français Background Stamp inked in Old Olive for my background. The flagged pieces consist of a layer of More Mustard embossed with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. On top of that is a piece from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Stack. The final layer is Very Vanilla stamped with a greeting from the Word Play Stamp Set in Bravo Burgundy. The image is from the Bells & Boughs Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black. I used my More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers to color the image in. It is then cut out with the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies and pierced with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Bravo Burgundy to back it. Both pieces are mounted to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the vintage feel you get form the Bells & Boughs Stamp and the En Français Stamp. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. Thank you for visiting today and have great Monday! 🙂

  • Fab Friday 06

Hello everyone, how are you today? I’m doing well, looking forward to the nice weather we are going to have for the next couple of days. Today’s post is for Fab Friday. This time we have a color challenge…

There are two of my favorites, Midnight Muse and Crumb Cake, in there. The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. I embossed a piece of More Mustard with the Holiday Frame Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card with SNAIL. The stamped image and greeting are from the Joyous Celebrations Stamp Set. I stamped the oval in Midnight Muse and the reindeer in Crumb Cake. It’s punched out with the Extra Large Oval Punch and backed with a piece of Cajun Craze that I cut out with the Lots of Tags Sizzlits. The greeting is stamped in Cajun Craze and I flagged the ends before mounting both of them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It’s a nice quick simple non-tradiotional holiday card but if you look at it you can see that the More Mustard as a gold and the Cajun Craze as a red. I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday Color Challenge. Thank you, as always for visiting and especially for all of your comments! Have a great day!

  • Freshly Made Sketches #60

A very good morning to you all! I have some awesome news… I got my power back last night after almost 10 days without it! I cannot tell you how happy I am! It’s so nice to sit at my craft desk and not shiver! LOL! I hope that all of the other people get theirs back soon. There are still about 260,000 people without power on Long Island. It really is terrible that it is taking them so long to fix all of this especially when we are lucky enough to have all of these people from other states here helping us. A big thank you to all of those that have come from all over the country! I also want to take a moment and thank all of you for your wonderful comments. You guys are the best!

Now for today’s post which is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. This week we have a great simple sketch from Tui…

I was in an exceptionally great mood last night when I made this card so I needed something equally as happy to be the main element. I love the santa from the Jolly Old Saint Nick Stamp Set. He is retired but he reminds me of the Coca Cola santa from years ago. The base of my card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Whisper White with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder using no tabs so it was a little more subtle. The two shorter strips of card stock are Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler. I used a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper in the middle for some sparkle. The main image is the happy santa from the Jolly Old Saint Nick Stamp Set (Retired). I stamped him in Basic Black and colored him with Blush Blossom, Cherry Cobbler and Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write Markers. He is cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the same set and is stamped in Gumball Green. I double cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and also cut another one in Gumball Green to back it. Stampin’ Dimensionals also hold it to the card. I really love the classic look of the santa and the sparkle of the Silver Glimmer Paper. I hope that you enjoyed this week’s Freshly Made Sketches card. Thank you for stopping by and for your comments. Have a bright and warm day! 🙂

  • Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge 226

Good morning! Well, someone in New York must have really annoyed mother nature! We got 3 inches of snow today and some more howling wind! Because hurricane Sandy wasn’t enough! I hope she’s done with us for a while. I stopped home last night and it was 38 degrees in my house, now that is a little cold! Yes, there is still no power. But some more people that I live near got theirs back tonight so maybe tomorrow. 😛

Today’s post is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a very nice color combination…

I love Midnight Muse. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do. At first I was thinking fall and then I thought no, a Christmas card. I do love non-traditional Holiday colors so this is perfect! The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Cajun Craze with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Then I adhered a piece of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back with Sticky Strip before I adhered it to the base. The stamped image is from the Snow Swirled Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse on Whisper White. I stamped one the of the snowflakes in More Mustard and punched it out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones give it just a little sparkle. The greeting is stamped in Cajun Craze. I backed them both with More Mustard and adhered them to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the elegance of the tree and the sparkle from the rhinestones. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. • Paper Craft Crew Sketch 15

Happy Wednesday! I hope that you are all well today. Yes, I still have no power, it’s been over a week. Sigh… it’s getting colder and electric would be nice! I hope that all of the other people have found a warm place to stay, I’ll be at Louis’ again. I’m sure that he will eventually tire of me! LOL!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew. This week’s sketch is pretty neat. I liked it so much that I didn’t change anything! Here it is…

My card starts off with a base of Lucky Limeade Card Stock. On the right side we have a piece of paper from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. On the left side I took a piece of Crumb Cake and cut the edge with the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies. I then ran it through the Big Shot again with the Delicate Designs Embossing Folder. Both of the background pieces are adhered to the card with SNAIL. The next element to go on the card are the fagged pieces of Lucky Limeade and Cherry Cobbler. The Very Vanilla piece is stamped with the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set in Crumb Cake and mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I cut the heart out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and then embossed it with the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It too is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The cute little gingerbread man is from the Scentsational Season Stamp Set and is stamped in Crumb Cake and cut out with the Holiday Collection Framelits Dies. I love the gingerbread man with the heart behind him, he’s a very happy guy! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Design Crew Challenge. Don’t forget to head over to the blog and check out the other designers cards and enter one of your own! Also, come back later today, we will be announcing the winner of our respective blog candy! • Paper Players #120

Monday is here again and I am still without power. I did sneak home during “generator time” to make a card. I have been lucky enough to stay at my friend Louis’ house since Friday. My parents are also high on my awesome list as they took gas cans to the station when they got gas an got me 10 gallons! Like I said… awesome parents! The gas lines here on Long Island are still 2 to 3 hours long. There are so many people still without electricity. For all that we have accomplished in the past decade we still can’t manage to keep the lights on? Oh well, maybe someone will come up with a way soon. My thoughts and prayers are also with all of those that don’t have a house left to get lights in. It’s a tough time right now but we will all get through this and come out better!

Now on to happy stuff. Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Players. This week we have a “Give Thanks” challenge from Ann…

It’s a fitting challenge for our current situation. My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Island Indigo for my background. The large image is from the Quint-Essential Flower and is stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the 2 3/8″ Circle Punch. The greeting in the middle is from the Blooming With Kindness Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The smaller images are from the Circle Circus Stamp Set. The ones that are punched out with the 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch are stamped in Pool Party and the tiny ones are stamped in Island Indigo. I thought that it needed a little more so I used some butterflies cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit in Whisper White. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I needed a happy card with some brighter colors and I think this fit the bill. I have a lot to be thankful for, my friends and family that have all been great! I’m a very lucky guy and I know it. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. Thank you so very much for visiting and for all of your comments. You make everything better too! 🙂

  • Pals Paper Arts 146

Wee, it’s the weekend… boo, I still have no power. In all seriousness no power is a small problem compared to what so many other people are going through. My heart goes out to all those that have suffered a loss. We also have this great gas issue to deal with which is definitely not bringing out the best in people. I have none left so I’ll be in for the weekend. I stayed at my friend Louis’ last night so no cold nose this morning. He was nice enough to come and get me! Friends really are the best remedy for almost anything!

Today’s post is for Pals Paper Arts. This time we have a color challenge…

The color combination would be nice for so many things but I immediately thought holiday card. The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Riding Hood Red with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background and I tried something a little different, when I ran it through the Big Shot I did it on no tabs to give it a little more subtle look. All of the stamped images are from the Open Sleigh Stamp Set. I stamped the sleigh on a piece of Very Vanilla in Crumb Cake and then again in Riding Hood Red. Using my trusty Paper Snips, I cut out the red sleigh. The Merry Christmas is stamped in Riding Hood Red. I flagged the one end and used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and the Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce the 3 sides. The greeting and the phrase are stamped in Riding Hood Red and I used the Postage Stamp Punch to edge them. I mounted all of the elements to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals including the sleigh. I love the vintage look of the card and the simplicity makes it a great card to duplicate. I hope that you enjoyed my Pals Paper Arts card. Hopefully you are all warm and will have a good day! Thank you for visiting!

  • Freshly Made Sketches #59

A very good Friday morning to you! I am always a happy boy on Friday. We still have no power and it’s getting a little colder each night. Hopefully later on today when I get home all will be back to normal. Today’s post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. This week’s sketch is provided by Cindy…

Funnily enough at the beginning of the week I was thinking that I wanted to do something with the Postage Due Stamp Set, I even had the images stamped and Cindy must have read my mind! The base of my card is Old Olive, a color that I haven’t used in a while. I used a piece of Bravo Burgundy for my background panel and adhered a piece of Retired Very Vanilla 1/4″ Grosgrain Ribbon with a Round Designer Ribbon Slide to it before mounting it to the card with SNAIL. The Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is used on a piece of Old Olive to go across the middle of the card. The 2 cent images are from the Postage Due Stamp Set and are stamped in Bravo Burgundy and Old Olive and the 25 cent stamp image is from the Merry and Type Stamp Set and is stamped in Old Olive. They are all punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount them to the card. I really like the sketch and the one stamp makes this a great quick Christmas card. I hope that you enjoyed this week’s Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card and thank you very much for stopping by. Have an awesome Friday!

Lots of elements and room for interpretation. My card starts with a base of Always Artichoke Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Crumb Cake with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Across the bottom is a piece of Riding Hood Red that I stamped with the Good Cheer Builder Wheel in Riding Hood Red. A piece of retired Riding Hood Red Satin Ribbon goes across the middle. The image is from the Winter Memories Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black and colored in with Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke,  Marina Mist, Rose Red, Perfect Plum, Crumb Cake, Pretty In Pink, Bashful Blue and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Markers. I cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies, turning it a second time to get the squared shaped. Some piercing with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool helps dress it up and it’s adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Merry Minis Stamp Set and the Merry Minis Punch Pack make the little banner stamped in Riding Hood Red and Always Artichoke. Some Whisper White Bakers Twine strings them together. The greeting is from the Winter Memories Stamp Set too and is stamped in Always Artichoke and underlined with the Always Artichoke Marker. I edged it with the marker to before I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The button is a Naturals Designer Button with a Whisper White Bakers Twine bow. I adhered it to the card with two stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the homey warm feel of the card, it makes all of the coloring worth it! • Mitten Tulips Thanks CASE

Is it Sunday already? Wow, yesterday just flew by! I had a nice time in the city and then I went to visit my friend Sandy and we crafted for a bit. I always have fun crafting with Sandy! Today’s post is a Thank You card that I made a little while ago for my friends Danielle and Anthony. I CASE’d the card from Stampin’ Success. They have some really neat ideas in there! The base of the card is Very Vanilla Card Stock cut to 5 1/2 x 7 and folded in half to make it note card size. I stamped the border along the bottom from the Make a Mitten Stamp Set in Gumball Green. The “tulips” are stamped from the same set in Primrose Petals and punched out with the Mitten Builder Punch. The strip of hearts is embossed with the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folder using some Summer Starfruit. I cut thin strips of Gumball Green for the Stems and the leaves are the thumbs from the Mitten Builder Punch too. The greeting is from the Wacky Wishes Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals. I really like the idea of using the Mitten Builder Punch to make the tulips, so clever. I hope that you liked today’s thank you card and thank you so much for coming by today. Have a great Sunday everyone! 🙂
