Freshly Made Sketches #53

A good Friday morning to you all! It’s a very good one for me because I am off from work! My cousins and I are headed into Manhattan today so they can do some more shopping. I’m undecided as to whether I want to take the train in or drive. Maybe we’ll go and have some more Korean food for lunch!

Today’s post is for this weeks Freshly Made Sketches but first I want to thank all of you for visiting the Control Freaks September Blog Tour yesterday and also for you wonderful comments. I’m so glad that you liked the projects! Moving right along this week Tui has given us this sketch to work with…

I knew what I wanted to use as soon as I saw this! The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I used some Candlelight Christmas Designer Series Paper strips and some Champagne Glimmer Paper strips for the background. On top of that is a piece of Very Vanilla that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. I Then embossed it with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The images and the greeting are from the No Peeking Stamp Set. The greeting is markered in Real Red, Lucky Limeade and Early Espresso and punched out with the Large Oval Punch. I used the same colors for the cute little snowman and cut him out with my Paper Snips. The little bird is stamped in Real Red and cut out too. They are all mounted to the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the sketch and the stamp set is just too sweet! I hope that you enjoyed this weeks Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card. Control Freaks September 2012 Tour!

Hello everyone and welcome to the September Control Freaks Tour featuring Fall projects! I’m so excited to be a part of this incredibly talented group. If you have arrived here from the tour you have just come from Jason Casper’s site. Didn’t he have some great projects?!?! This is my first tour with the Freaks, how awesome is that?!?! I’m a little excited, can you tell?!?!

The first project I have to show you is a card. Not just any card but a 3D window card that folds flat so that you can still mail it. The base of the card is Always Artichoke Card Stock. I used a piece of Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper to frame the window and I also used a piece down the right side. The images in the back are from the Spooky Bingo Bits Stamp Set and are stamped in Basic Gray, Basic Black and Early Espresso. I also cut one of the tombstones out and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. The image on the piece of Window Sheet is form the Toxic Treats Stamp Set and is stamped in Jet Black Staz-On. The little moon in the upper right corner is made with Tangerine Tango and the 1″ Circle Punch. For the greeting I used the Seasonal Sayings Stamp Set stamped in Tangerine Tango and backed with a piece of Basic Black.

The next project I have to show you is a Halloween Banner. The base of all of the banners is Basic Gray, that I flagged the ends on, with a piece of Crumb Cake that is embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The image on the first banner is from the Toxic Treats Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black on Pumpkin Pie and cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies. Some Basic Black is cut out using the Paper Doily Large Sizzlits Die. I cut out a piece of Basic Gray, flagged the ends and used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce the edges. All of the pieces are adhered using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The next three banners all have a rosette made with Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP and my Simply Scored. The letters are form the Broadsheet Alphabet Stamp Set and are stamped in Basic Black and punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. The flagged pieces of Pumpkin Pie are stamped with the Border Banter Stamp Set and are backed with pieces of Basic Black that are punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle punch and paper-pierced around the edges too.

The last project I have to show you is a wreath. I used the Autumn Accents Bigz Die to cut out all of the leaves from Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze and More Mustard Card Stock. They are all embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I used a hot glue gun and the Silicone Craft Sheet to attach them to the wreath. The greeting is from the Seasonal Sayings Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. I flagged the ends and paper-pierced the top and bottom. The acorns are from the Wonderfall Stamp Set and are stamped in Soft Suede and adhered to the back of the greeting with some Sticky Strip. The greeting is then adhered to the leaves with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Bashful Saffron Baby Banners

Good morning everyone! How are we all doing today? I’m doing well, apart from the torrential rain that we got last night. The weather has been very odd this summer. The rain we get reminds me of Florida rain! This will be my first post for the day but there will be a surprise one later so be sure and come back tonight to see! This morning’s post is a card that I made for my mum to take to a baby shower. The base of the card is Bashful Blue Card Stock. I used the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of So Saffron for the background. The image and greeting are from the Baby Prints Stamp Set and are stamped in Bashful Blue on Whisper White. I used the 3/16″ Corner Rounder to round the corners on the Whisper White and the Bashful Blue that they are mounted to. They are both adhered to the card with Stampin’ DImensionals. The banners are made using the Bitty Banner Framelits Dies with Bashful Blue and are cut in half. They too are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of Whisper White Bakers Twine creates the string that they “hang” from. I was happy to have an excuse to use the stamp set and hope that you enjoyed today’s card. Paper Craft Crew #7 Sketch Challenge

Hello all and a good Saturday morning to you. I had a very nice day with my cousin yesterday. We went shopping and had some Sonic for lunch. I got one of the balance ball chairs for my craft desk. I see a problem with it all ready though, it’s very bouncy and unknowingly I am bouncing on it all the time!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. I mentioned last week that I was asked to be on the design team and this week is my first week participating as a designer! Thanks again to Pam for asking me to be a member. I’m so happy and can’t wait for the blog relaunch at the end of October. In the mean time why not head on over and post your card in this week’s challenge?! This week we have a sketch challenge…

I had a lot of different ideas as to what I was going to do but after I settled in the rosette the rest of the card just fell into place. The base of the card is Island Indigo Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Crumb Cake with the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. A piece of Very Vanilla I stamped with the Travel Journal Builder Wheel in Crumb Cake, the gears from the Clockworks Stamp Set in Basic Gray and the greeting from the Word Play Stamp Set stamped in Island Indigo creates the piece on the right. A piece of Island Indigo 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon and a Round Designer Ribbon Slide is placed just below the middle of the card and adhered around the back with some Sticky Strip before it is attached to the card. Two pieces of Island Indigo are flagged and attached to the upper left corner. The rosette is made with Fan Fair Designer Series Paper and my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I stamped the pocket watch in Basic Gray and Island Indigo and then cut it out with my Paper Snips. The rosette and watch are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Island Indigo and Crumb Cake are one of my favorite color combinations and I love the Clockworks Stamp Set. Happy Friday everyone! I’m extra happy today because I took the day off from work! My cousin and I are going to spend the day together. We are going to do some shopping and have some lunch, it will be a great day! This week I really loves me some Friday!

Today’s post is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a color challenge…

When I first saw the colors I thought Halloween then I decided instead to go with a sort of longing for spring look. The base of my card is Tangerine Tango Card Stock. The stamped images are all from the Daydream Medallions Stamp Set and are stamped in Rich Razzleberry and Tangerine Tango. I used the Floral Frames Collection Framelits Dies to cut them all out in different sizes. I then mounted them all to each other with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then to a piece of Lucky Limeade that I also cut out with the Floral Frames Collection Framelits Dies. Then I used the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on it before adhering it to the card with some SNAIL. The greeting is from the Perfectly Penned Stamp Set and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry and cut out with my Paper Snips. I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies to cut out another piece of Lucky Limeade and cut off the top and bottom of the piece. The Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool is used to pierce the sides and then both pieces are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For a little bling I added a Vintage Faceted Designer Button and a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper punched out with the 3/8″ Circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and adhered it to the card with some Mini Glue Dots in the center of the “flower”. Happy Birthday…

To me! LOL! So, today is my birthday and I decided to be a ninny and make myself a card! I used some of my current favorite things and some of my favorite neutral colors. The base of the card is Basic Black Card Stock. I used the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on a piece of Basic Gray. Before I adhered it to the card I used a piece of Whisper White 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon with a Round Designer Ribbon Side across the card and adhered it to the back with some Sticky Strip. The happy birthday is form the Memorable Moments Stamp Set and Is stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies. It is mounted with Stampin’ Dimensionals to a piece of Crumb Cake, also cut out with the Labels Framelits, that I pierced with the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. The second greeting/image is from the Convention 2012 Stamp Set I Am… and is stamped and heat embossed the same as the first. For a little bling I used two Basic Jewels Rhinestones above and below the happy birthday. I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and thanks for visiting with me. Have a “Happy” Day!

Mojo 258

Hello there peeps! How are we doing today? I’m good, my cousin arrived safely and card class was lots of fun last night as always. Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This week Julee Tilman has given us this sketch…

What a nice clean sketch! The base of my card is Chocolate Chip Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. Two pieces of Soft Suede are used for the flagged banners across the middle. I used the 1″ Circle Punch, with Soft Suede and Chocolate Chip,  and my paper snips for the semi-circles in the top left. A piece of Sahara Sand is cut out with the Autumn Accents Bigz Die and then stamped with the Wonderfall Stamp Set using my Stamp-a-ma-jig in Chocolate Chip. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A Naturals Designer Button threaded with some Linen Thread is adhered to the leaf with a Mini Glue Dot. The greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set. I stamped it in Chocolate Chip and cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I love all of the rich browns against the bright embossed background and the clean simplicity of the card. I hope that you enjoyed this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card. Paper Craft Crew Sketch 6

A good Sunday morning to you all. I had a nice crafty Saturday and today with be laundry and clean the house day. I’m thinking that I will have liked Saturday better than Sunday this weekend! Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew. The blog is in the the process of being revamped and they will have a launch at the end of October. I also have some really exciting news. The owner of the blog, Pam, has asked me to be a member of the design team! Well, I can tell you that I was a little happy to hear that! For my first week playing we have a sketch challenge…

A nice simple layout and I decided to mix some old with some new. The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Soft Suede with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. A piece of Comfort Café Designer Series Paper is mounted to a piece of Pool Party and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals for the next layer. I used the Border Banter Stamp Set, stamped in Midnight Muse and Summer Starfruit, and some Very Vanilla to crete the flags. A piece of Summer Starfruit cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlits die is the placed behind the images from the Artistic Etching Stamp Set. They are stamped in Midnight Muse and Summer Starfruit. The large lacy circle is cut out with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch and the crown and amour are cut out with my Paper Snips. They are all mounted to the card with Stampin Dimensionals. I like the mix of the softness of the Comfort Café DSP with the graphic nature of the Border Banter. Fab Friday 01

Hello all and welcome to an early Wednesday brought to you by our day off this week, Monday. Thanks Monday, for one of the first times in recent memory I like you! LOL! Today’s post is for a new weekly challenge called Fab Friday. It was founded by Mindy Backes and is made up of a wonderful team. I decided that seeing as it’s the inaugural challenge let’s give it a try. The challenge is for every other Friday and this week we have a sketch…

I have to say that I kind of like it! The base of my card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I took a piece of Lucky Limeade and cut the lower edge with the Finishing Touches Edgelits. A piece of Primrose Petals is embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and placed right above the bottom. The stamped images on top are from the Watercolor Winter Stamp Set, The pine needles are stamped in Lucky Limeade and Early Espresso on a Very Vanilla background. The poinsettias are 2-Step Stamped in Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals. I used my Paper Snips to cut them out and mounted them to the background with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Chock Full of Cheer Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso, I flagged the left side and on the right side is a Natural Designer Button with some Linen Thread adhered with a Mini Glue Dot. I have had a bit of an obsession with Primrose Petals lately I know. For some reason it reminds me of Teaberry Ice Cream that I have only ever had in Pennsylvania when I stayed at my Grandmother’s house. Maybe I’m feeling nostalgic! Good morning peeps! Or is it?! Back to work, but it’s a short week! I had a very productive weekend and I even got to relax a little. Now I did put off some cleaning for next weekend but like they say Rome wasn’t built in a day. Now for today’s post which is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This week Julee Tilman has given us this layered sketch to work with…

I have to admit that this card took me a little time to make. I was undecided as to what I was going to use and I went back and forth for quite a while but in the end I’m quite happy with the results. The base of the card is Early Espresso Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Primrose Petals with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The next layer is a piece of Candlelight Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper that I adhered to a piece of Lucky Limeade that I edged with the Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies. The ribbon across the lower portion is Primrose Petals 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon. I used some Sticky Strip to adhere it around the back and then mounted the whole thing to the card with SNAIL. The top layer is a piece of Primrose Petals that I stamped in Primrose Petals with the En Français Background Stamp. It’s backed by a piece of Very Vanilla and adhered to the card with Stampin Dimensionals.The flagged piece is also from the Candlelight Christmas Specialty DSP pack. For the main image I stamped a snowflake from the Snowflake Soiree Stamp Set in Primrose Petals after I cut out the circle with the Circles #2 Bigz Die. I backed it with a piece of Lucky Limeade that I punched out with the 2 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. The two snow flakes at the top and bottom of the main image, stamped in Lucky Limeade, are also from the same set and are punched out with the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flagged greeting is form the Joyous Celebration Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso. I know, you have heard it before but I am a really big fan of non-tradiotional holiday colors.
