Paper Craft Crew #38

Ahh… Wednesday, halfway there! How is your week going so far? Mine is pretty good, no complaints. It was a pretty nice day here yesterday, not too cold, not too hot. It sprinkled for a few minutes and then it was done. It is raining this morning but I don’t think it’s supposed to do it all day. I have a workshop tomorrow night with my friend Melissa. It will be a good time, a small crafty gathering. I’ll post the cards sometime in the future so you can see what we made. 🙂

On a fun note, a fellow demonstrator was inspired by the card that I made last week for Fab Friday. Erica Cerwin did a beautiful job on her card and was kind enough to mention me on her blog. You can see her post here and the card that I made here.

Today’s card – Paper Craft Crew Sketch 38…

I knew that when I saw it was going to keep the butterfly. The base of my card is Wisteria Wonder and the background is Daffodil Delight stamped with the Woodgrain Background Stamp inked in Daffodil Delight. The is a doily from the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit and the rounded flag from the Hearts a Flutter Framelits. The large flower is from the Floral Frames Collection Framelits and it’s embossed with the “Vintage” Vine Street Embossing Folder. A Beautiful Wings butterfly and a rolled paper rose give the card some dimension. The greeting is from the Wacky Wishes Host(ess) Stamp Set and some Itty Bitty Punch Pack flowers with Basic Jewels Pearls complete the card. A CASE for Monday

Happy Monday… NOT! LOL! Poor Monday always has a bad rap because it starts another work week. I had a great weekend and the weather was almost perfect. I did a little running around yesterday morning and had some lunch with Maureen. I also started to organize my craft area which has become quite large, soon the bed will have to leave! Some cards were made and then I found a 16 Handles Froyo not far from here so I alerted my peeps and off we went. My friend Kim’s two little girls are just the cutest, Izzy says my name now and I melt! I even got to see the child last night, a great way to cap off any evening. 🙂

Today’s card – A CASE – from Stampin’ Success…

I know that most of you know that us Demonstrators get this great magazine every two months (used to be every month, I miss it!) and on the front cover and inside were these great flowers and one was made into a card. I did a little CASE of the card, I did change a few things, but I really like the way it came out. The base of the card is Calypso Coral and the background is a piece of Whisper White. I sponged some Calypso Coral on the front and along the edges. Some paper-piercing is done around the perimeter and the greeting is stamped from the Blooming with Kindness Stamp Set in Soft Suede. The doily is heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and there is some Creped Filter Paper and This and That Washi Tape on there too. The flower is created using the Blossom Punch and some distressing with my Bone Folder and the Stampin’ Pierce Mat. Some leaves from the Secret Garden Framelits and a piece of 5/8″ Flower Trim in the middle. A few spots and Basic Jewels Rhinestones finish off the card. I hope you enjoyed my CASE today. Fab Friday 16

Guess what?!?! It’s FRIDAY!! Woo hoo!! One of my favorite days of the week! This was a very busy week and I will be super happy at 5:00 when it’s finally over. I’m out to dinner with my friend Anthony and his mom tonight. We are going to get him an iPad for his birthday! I always love a trip to the Apple Store and some time with my peeps is always great. I’m off to the city tomorrow to see some friends and wander around a bit. Then it will be a crafty Sunday! 🙂

Today’s card – Fab Friday Color Challenge Design Team…

I was inspired by my clever friend LeAnne’s card from Tuesday. I love the Chevron Embossing Folder and cut out it looks great. It does take a little time but the end result is quite cool. The base of my card is Crumb Cake. I embossed some Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Summer Starfruit with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and used my Paper Snips a lot! A piece of Crumb Cake made into a tag and stamped with the Oh, Hello! Stamp Set tied with some Linen Thread finishes off the card nicely. Freshly Made Sketches #81

Hello! It was a nice day yesterday for the most part, not as warm as Tuesday but nice. We had a short thunderstorm later and Winston doesn’t like that all all. He shook for about 15 minutes after it was over. Poor Winston. We are supposed to get some more rain today and a lot more tomorrow and it’s going back down to the 50’s. I did enjoy the taste of warm weather. I had to sit in a 3 hour class yesterday and it was pure torture! I sort of zoned out for most of it. So, Stampin’ Up! has lots going on at the moment and soon it will be time for the new catalog! Have you seen the new Wood Mount stamp cases? Check out the YouTube video here! Busy busy!!

Today’s card – Freshly Made Sketches #81 – By Cindy…

My card starts off with a base of Soft Suede and the background is Fine Feathers at the top and Brushed Gold Card Stock with some “Vintage” Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon. The bird and cage are from the Nature Walk Stamp Set, the cage is heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the bird is shaded with some eye shadow applicators! For the greeting, Teeny Tiny Wishes is punched out with the Word Window Punch and shortened. I also flipped the sketch upside down! Mojo 288

Hey there! How was Monday? Mine was, well to be kind, not my favorite. Work is extremely busy and it doesn’t show any signs of letting up. I am so happy when I come home and sit down at the craft desk. I get to forget about all of the misery of the day and focus on being creative. It’s the perfect end to a hectic day. When do you do your crafting? I also like to rummage through my supplies from time to time. When I do I inevitably find something that I completely forgot about. Last night was no exception. In amongst the Designer Series Paper was my Boutique Boxes Designer Kit. I think I need to spend a little time going through more and finding little surprises!

Today’s card – Mojo Monday 288 – Sketch Challenge from Sarah Bigelow…

The card base is Basic Gray and the background is Sahara Sand embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. All of the elements are from the Boutique Boxes Designer Kit except the Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape. The greeting is from the coordinating A Little Greeting Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Gray. I really am digging the feathers and the Washi Tape! Pals Paper Arts 156

Monday… I much prefer sunday to you! How was everyones weekend? Mine was good, car show Saturday, finished the Christening Invites yesterday, had some dinner with Heather and saw the wee ones and the child. All in all not a bad weekend at all. It was quite windy here yesterday too, I really do wish that spring would hurry up and get here. Today, I’m going to try something a little different. Rather than bore you with the step by step walk through of how I make the card I’m just going to highlight bits and give you the supply list at the end. You, of course, can tell me that you don’t enjoy it and I’ll go back to the old way. So here we go!

Today’s card – Pals Paper Arts 156 – Color Challenge. Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Marina Mist…

The card base is Whisper white and the background is Crumb Cake embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The flowers and the butterflies nicely offset the flagged banners at the top. The greeting is from Lacy and Lovely and is stamped in Crumb Cake. Honeycomb, tags and cork, my current obsessions!

Wow! Sunday already, Saturday just flew by. I did have a very nice time at the auto show in Manhattan yesterday. The highlight was seeing the RollsRoyce Wraith, isn’t that a cool name for a car?! It was gorgeous! The traffic in the city yesterday was insane, but it was a Saturday and it was a pretty nice day. What were all of you up to yesterday?

Sunday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge! This week the fabulous Nance has a theme challenge for you…

What a fun idea to go green with some recycling on a card! I thought about it for a while and I finally settled on some jeans. The base of my card is Midnight Muse Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Crumb Cake with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I always use it no tabs when I emboss with the Woodgrain Folder so it doesn’t tear the card stock. The tag is made from a piece of Summer Starfruit, the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate supplies the corners for the tag and a standard hole punch makes the hole at the top. I used a piece of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon to thread through the top of the tag. The greeting is from the Make a Wish Stamp Set and is stamped in Midnight Muse. For the flower I used the Blossom Party Bigz Die and some old jeans from the Gap. I really like the way that the inside has the contrasting “crumb cake” look. A retired Brad from last year’s Sale-A-Bration holds it together and some Multipurpose Glue holds it to the tag. Some butterflies are stamped with the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set in Midnight Muse on Very Vanilla and punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to hold them in place. I really like using natural materials on cards and the jeans are pretty neat for the flower! I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer Card for this week’s challenge. Stylin’ Stampin’ Blog Tour March 2013
Hello kiddies! How are we today? I’m good but yesterday was a very long day! I’m glad that it’s over and the weekend is almost here. It was still cold and windy here all day today but they say warmer temperatures are ahead! Looking forward to those!

Today is the March Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad Blog Tour. If you are following the tour then you have arrived here from Kim R.’s Stamping with Kim blog. Didn’t she have some great projects?! The theme for this month’s projects is Wedding and Anniversary. I have a wedding and a christening card for you today.

First up is the wedding card. I wanted a very simple but eye catching card. The base of my card is Basic Black Card Stock. The background is a piece of Whisper White and on top of that is a piece of Basic Gray that I embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The middle is created by cutting out a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper using two dies from the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies. I then stamped a piece of Window Sheet with the Mr. & Mrs. Single Stamp in Opaque White Staz-On. Some SNAIL holds it behind the glimmer piece. Then I cut a piece of Basic Black to fit behind and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then some SNAIL holds it in place. I really like the white ink with the silver and black behind it. It gives the card a nice elegant feel, and who doesn’t like a little sparkle!

My second card is one that I made for my friend Kim’s daughter Savannah’s upcoming Christening. I made 40 of these. When I mass produce a card I cut all of the pieces and then assemble them. The last thing I do is use MDS to print the insides. The base of the card is Naturals White Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of So Saffron, just pain. Next up we have a Tea Lace Paper Doily and on top of that is a piece of Pink Pirouette that I flagged the ends on with my Paper Snips. The greeting is from the My Special Day Stamp Set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip on a piece of Whisper White that I cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies. The “Christening” is also stamped in Chcocolate Chip on So Saffron and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The 5/8″ Flower Trim is backed by a piece of Pink Pirouette that I punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. They are adhered to each other and the card with Mini Glue Dots. You can see in the second picture all of the pieces waiting to be put together. I tried to keep it simple but I still made 80 passes though the Big Shot and the ends were all flagged with my Paper Snips!

Paper Craft Crew #36

Well this week is moving right along! How is it going for you? Work is insanely busy for me and has been for a while. hopefully things will slow down soon. Today I am working from 8:30am until 11:00pm, that’s a long day! The weather was chilly and windy here again yesterday, it’s supposed to be cold until Thursday and then it’s supposed to finally warm up. Spring, not so far around here!

Today’ post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This week we have a nice sketch with the possibility for some layers…

I have been really into Pool Party lately, it is definitely one of my favorite colors. It works great as a neutral and looks nice with so many different colors or can easily stand on it’s own. For the base of my card I used Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background is a piece of Pool Party that is embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The paper in the middle is from the Tea for Two Designer Series Paper Pack. A piece of Silver Glimmer Paper is on the left and I punched a piece of Pool Party with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack with a Basic Jewel Pearl in the middle for the little flower. The main panel is a piece of Pool Party that I embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed it with a piece of Basic Gray. For the stamped image I choose one from the Circle Circus Stamp Set and stamped it in Pool Party and punched it out with the 1 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. It’s mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and I put a Basic Jewels Pearl in the center. The greeting is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and is stamped in Pool Party. I use the Decorative Label Punch to punch it out and adhered it to the card under the main panel with some SNAIL. Three more pearls are adhered under the DSP on the left to finish off the card. I really love the colors and the glimmer paper gives it just the right amount of sparkle. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge. SplitCoast Creative Crew April Challenges

Another speedy weekend and back to Monday we go. I did have a very nice weekend. Saturday night I went to see my friend Andrew’s Acapella group perform and they won! After that my friend Heather and I went to John’s Pizzeria in the Theater District for a very late dinner. I will tell you that the pizza is amazing! If you are ever in Manhattan put that on your list of places you must go to eat! Yesterday I worked on the Christening invites, everything is cut and stamped I just have to assemble them. A very busy but productive weekend! I hope that you had a good weekend and some family time on Easter Sunday.

Today I have my post for this month’s SplitCoast Creative Crew Challenges. This is my last month as a guest designer with them and I have to say it has been a lot of fun. A very nice group with some really good challenges, I enjoyed every one of them. Today I have three cards for you, all very different. One modern one, a semi-vintage one and a nice manly one!

The first card is for the DSP/Color Focus. They ask: It’s almost time to say goodbye to the 2011 In Colors. This month, show us the beauty of Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade and Pool Party! To challenge yourself, focus on your least favorite of these colors. I didn’t focus on my least favorite colors because I actually like all of the 2011-2013 In-Colors and will miss the ones that are going away. I did decide to go very modern and simple with my card though. The base is Basic Gray Card Stock that I cut to 8 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ and folded. The panels are Calypso Coral and Pool Party. I stamped the images in the same colors from the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set and rounded two of each panels corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. The greeting is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and is stamped in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I flagged the right side of the piece and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the simple modern look and I have been really into leaving things off the edge of the card lately.

The second card I have for you is for the Creative Focus. They ask: This month, let’s show off our new paper piercing tools! Located on Page 181 of the Main Catalog and on Page 27 & 36 of the Spring Catalog, these can add a great accent to any project! Challenge yourself to add piercing to your card in a new way. If you don’t have the paper piercing tool, use a pushpin! Now we all know that I love a little paper-piercing! I wanted to try it on vellum and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. The base of the card is Naturals White Card Stock. I stamped the greeting from the One in a Million Stamp Set in Early Espresso. The layers in the middle start with a Tea Lace Paper Doily. Next up I took a piece of Tea for Two Designer Series Paper and a piece of Vellum Card Stock and held them together while I used the 1/2 Circle Punch to create the ticket corners on them. I then used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and my Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce around the piece of vellum. Some SNAIL holds the vellum to the DSP. A piece of Bashful Blue is flagged on either end and pierced across the top and bottom edges. The butterfly is form the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and is cut from Calypso Coral. I embossed it using the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, adhered it to the flagged piece with SNAIL and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A pice of Lucky Limeade is punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch and is used to back the 5/8″ Flower Trim that is adhered with Mini Glue Dots. The little butterfly on the bottom is a piece of Calypso Coral that I cut out with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. I’m so happy with the piercing on the vellum. It’s so nice and crisp!

My final card is for the Holiday Focus. For this one they ask: Holiday focus: Let’s make cards for the men in our lives! I need these often, and I don’t make them enough. Challenge yourself by using a non-masculine set to make your masculine card or by trying a new technique. I knew exactly what set I wanted to use but I mixed it with a set that I don’t normally think of for masculine cards. The card starts off with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock. I used the Chevron Textured impressions Embossing Folder with some Pool Party Core’dinations Card Stock, I distressed it with that Stampin’ Distress Tool, then adhered it to the card base with SNAIL. The two flagged pieces are adhesive cork shelf liner that I cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. The circle and #%&@! are from the Dude, You’re Welcome Kit. The circle is stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. The #%&@! is stamped in Early Espresso and cut out with my Paper Snips. Both are adhered to each other and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Happy and Birthday are from the Memorable Moments Stamp Set, are stamped in Early Espresso and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. They too are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I guess it doesn’t get more masculine than a fill in the blank swear word in the middle of the card!
