  • Paper Players #130 🙂

Brrrr! A chilly good Sunday morning to you! I don’t think it has gotten above freezing in over a week here. I am in desperate need of some warm weather! To all of my friends in Australia, please send some of you heat this way! I did have a very nice day yesterday, despite the cold. I went to Heather’s for a super delicious breakfast, then went to Target and then over to see Brian, Kim and the kiddies. I came home and crafted for a bit and picked up Taylor for some quality dad-daughter time. This morning I’m off to Manhattan to see some friends. I better make sure I bundle up!

If it’s Sunday that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. First, congratulations to Nicole for her Bee-autiful card, it made her my Cut Above for last week’s challenge! This week the lovely LeAnne has provided us with this nice sketch…

    Paper Players 130 2-03-2013

I had an idea as to what I wanted to do as soon as I saw it. The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Cherry Cobbler with the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. The Whisper White panel is stamped with the Spec-Tacular Single Stamp in Basic Gray and I used the 3/16″ Corner rounder to round the corners. A piece of Silver Glimmer Paper takes the place of a ribbon across the bottom. The greeting is form the Dude, You’re Welcome Kit and is stamped in Basic Gray. I again rounded the corners and punched a piece of Red Glimmer Paper out with the Small Heart Punch to fill in the blank. I think this would be a great guy’s Valentine’s Day card or just a fun love card for anyone. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Players Sketch Challenge from LeAnne. Thanks very much for spending some time with me today! I hope you have a nice cozy Sunday.

  • Paper Craft Crew Sketch & Color Challenge #26

Well here we are at Wednesday again! Halfway there! It is bitterly cold here on Long Island. I think the high temperature yesterday was 21 degrees and it’s 10 degrees now! The little bit of snow that we had still is there in some places. They say we are supposed to get more snow on Friday, I hope they are wrong. Did you make your lists and place your Sale-A-Bration orders yesterday? I really think that items they have tis year are among the best they have had in a while. I’m having so much fun playing with my goodies!

Now on to today’s post which is my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This week we have a sketch and color challenge…

    PCCCS026-Sketch

And the colors are Daffodil Delight, Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink. I will admit that I struggled a little with the colors. I finally settled upon a Valentine for my card. The base of the card is Pretty in Pink Card Stock. I stamped a piece of Bashful Blue with the Distressed Dots Background Stamp in Bashful Blue. The strip of paper down the length of the right side is Floral District Designer Series Paper and there is a piece of Daffodil Delight next to it. The main panel consists of a piece of Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. The pink one is pierced around the edge using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. I used the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the blue piece. The stamped image is the Happy Heart Single Stamp that is stamped in Pretty in Pink and punched out with the Full Heart Punch. They are mounted to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of Bashful Blue, also embossed with the polkadots, is cut out with the Petite Curly Label Punch**. On top of that is a piece of Pretty in Pink that I punched out with the Small Heart Punch. I used the Heart to Heart Punch (Vintage) and the Owl Builder Punch to punch out some Silver Glimmer Paper to give it a little sparkle. I actually like the card and it reminds me of candy for some reason. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team Card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Sketch & Color Challenge. Please stop by the blog to see what the other designers have come up with and enter a card of your own. Thank you so much for visiting with me today and I hope the rest of your day is great!

  • Tracey’s 40th B’day!

Well that weekend just flew by! Lots to do makes time go quick. It was a busy weekend here on my blog too. It’s quite awesome to be in such good creative company. And did you see all of the other designers cards over at the Paper Players? They just keep on getting better and better! I really do love being able to have the ability to share my creative passion with you and to be surrounded by such talented people. Let’s not forget all of you! Your comments and visits make me want to be the best I can be! So thank you very much!

Today I’m posting a birthday card for my cousin Tracey in England. I would doubt that she has received it yet so I’m hoping that she forgets to look today! She is turing 40 today and she honestly doesn’t look a day over 26! Her favorite color is pink and she manages a pub in London so this is what I came up with for her. The base of the card is Rose Red Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Pink Pirouette with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The flags at the top are cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. The top one is stamped in Rose Red with an image from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and the lower one is stamped in the same color using the Memorable Moments Stamp Set. The middle panel contains images from the Happy Hour Stamp Set. The drinks are stamped in Pink Pirouette and the olive in what else… Old Olive! I backed it with piece of Rose Red and all of the pieces, including the greeting, are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Speaking of the greeting it is also from the Happy Hour Stamp Set and again stamped in Rose Red. I think that the card fills the pink and pub manager requirements, don’t you? I hope that Tracey likes the card and that you enjoyed it too. Thank you for spending some time with me and I hope that you all have a very nice Monday!

  • Paper Players #129 🙂

Good morning! How are we all faring with the weekend so far? Mine is going well, I brought an iPhone back to life last night for a clumsy friend of mine! Manhattan was nice yesterday and I drove in and no traffic! It’s like winning the Lotto, there is always traffic here. So, how did you all like the Control Freaks Blog Tour last night?! I thought it was a pretty awesome tour! If you want to check it out again you can click here.

Seeing as it’s Sunday that must mean it’s time for another Paper Players Challenges! Congratulations to Stacey and her Cowboy card for being my choice for Cut Above last week! For this week’s challenge the lovely Jaydee has given us this Clean and Simple sketch…

    Paper Players 129 1-20-2013

I figured that after my really feminine card the other day I needed something really masculine! LOL! I started my card off with a base of Not Quite Navy Card Stock. The background is created with a piece of River Rock… I don’t think I have used River Rock in forever… anyway… that I embossed with the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is stamped with an image from the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set. I used my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the pattern perfectly so it looks like one big stamp. For the watch I used the Dapper Dad Stamp Set. The dial is stamped in River Rock and the band in Soft Suede. The dial is mounted to the band and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is form the Cross My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. I trimmed it up with my Paper Snips and used some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces to adhere it to the card. What man would not want to get a nice clean masculine card like this one for their birthday?!?! I love the stamp and embossing folder coordination and the River Rock looks nice with the Not Quite Navy. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s challenge from Jaydee. Don’t forget to stop by the blog and see what amazing cards the other talented designer have come up with and enter one of yours so I can see! I hope you have a nice rest of your weekend. 🙂

  • Paper Craft Crew Sketch 25

Wednesday already?! Where is the week going? I have been a very busy boy all week, although it does mean that we are closer to Friday! LOL! I know, I’m a little obsessed with Friday! How is everyone today? I’m not too bad. It sleeted here a little last night but has turned to rain and is supposed to stop soon. I guess it’s winter again!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This week have a sketch and color combo. I did the sketch but not the color combo…

    PCCCS025-Sketch

Colors: Melon Mambo, Old Olive and Basic Gray

I wanted to use some Summer Starfruit and one of my favorite Designer Series papers, Comfort Café has it in it so I choose the rest of the colors from there. The base of the card is Soft Suede Card Stock. The background is a piece of Comfort Café Designer Series Paper. I backed it with some Very Vanilla to make it a little more ridgid so that it was easier to adhere the piece of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back with some Sticky Strip. A strip of Midnight Muse embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder goes down the left side. I punched out some Cajun Craze with the Curly Label Punch and stamped them in Midnight Muse with an image from the Creative Elements Stamp Set. The hellos are form the Petite Pretties Stamp Set** and are stamped in Summer Starfruit. I used the Petite Curly Label Punch to punch them out and adhered them to the larger labels with SNAIL. They are then adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the way the the image from Creative Elements is similar to the pattern in the DSP and I love the colors! I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s challenge. Click on over and see what the other deigners have in store for you and upload your card! Thanks, as always, for your visit and I hope that you have a very nice Wednesday!

Click on either of the images above to download a PDF. I think they are great assortment of very different stamps and will come in handy for many different occasions. Don’t forget that you can only get them until March 31st!

Wow! That’s a lot of cool new product! Now on to today’s post which is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This time around we have a sketch from Carole Burrage…

    Mojo276

I had a good idea what I was going to use when I saw the sketch. I have been looking through some magazines for some new color inspiration and I saw one with Rich Razzleberry, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White (that’s not what they called them but that’s what I saw!). The base of my card is Rich Razzleberry Card Stock. For the background on the left side I embossed a piece of Chocolate Chip and Old Olive with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The panel on the right is created using some Whisper White and an image from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set stamped in Rich Razzleberry. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect alignment! For the main panel I cut a piece of Whisper White to 2 1/2″ x 3″. I measured in 3/4″ on each side on the 3″ side, top and bottom, and measure down 1 1/4″ on each side of the 2 1/2″ side. I then used my Paper Trimmer to cut the corners off and made a large hexagon. The images are from the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set**. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive and the flowers are stamped in Rich Razzleberry and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. They also hold the butterflies from the same set in the same color that I punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch and placed on the right panel. Finally, the greeting is from the Vintage Verses Stamp Set** and is stamped in Chocolate Chip. The colors bring to mind the garden and I love the worn look of the images form the Bloomin’ Marvelous Set. I hope that enjoyed all of the announcements and my card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. Thank for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Good morning everyone! How are we all doing this fine Monday morning? I’m doing well, I had a nice weekend with some fun time on Saturday and some creative time on Sunday. It was a very nicely balanced weekend, something that I am not usually able to achieve. So I don’t know if you noticed but I got a little bored with the blog look. I opened up My Digital Studio and played around and this is what I came up with. What do you think? I know Affection Collection is “Vintage” but it’s still one of my favorite sets. Leave me a comment to share your thoughts on the new look.

Before I get to today’s card I have two exciting things to share with you!

Now off we go with today’s card. I saw the All Dressed Up Framelits, Pop’ n Cuts and Stamp Set in the Spring Catalog and thought now why would I order that?! That’s way too girly for me! Then I thought, well I have a lot of female friends that would probably appreciate a card made with these fashionable items, so I caved! I made this card for a friend of mine at work for her birthday. The base of the card is Primrose Petals Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla with the Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The pretty dress and dressmakers stand are cut out with the Dress Up Framelits Dies, the stand in Crumb Cake and the dress from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. A thin piece of Silver Glimmer Paper is used for the belt. The flower is Primrose Petals punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and a Basic Jewels Rhinestone is adhered in the center. For the greeting I stamped the happy birthday from the Made for You Stamp Set in Gumball Green. The Print Poetry Designer Series Paper makes a great print for the dress and the card was super simple to make and my friend really liked it and I hope that you enjoyed it too! Thank you so much for spending some time with me today, I always appreciate your visit! Have a great day!

  • Paper Players Color Challenge #128

Happy Sunday peeps! I had a very nice time in Manhattan yesterday. Kim and I went to the diner for breakfast. After that we went down to the Village an wandered around. We stopped at Chelsea Market, which smelled divine. We wandered around and made our way up to Korea Town and had some Korean food for dinner. It was a nice nothing planned see where the day takes you kind of day. We didn’t get to the movies but that’s ok, we’ll see something next time.

Sunday also means that it’s time for another challenge from the Paper Players. This week we have a color challenge from Anne Marie…

    Paper Player 128 1-13-2013

I puzzled over what to do for this one. I finally settled on a clean and simple card. The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Daffodil Delight with the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is stamped with an image from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set in Pacific Point. I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies to cut it and before it is adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I pierced around the edge with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. The tickets across the bottom are from the Take a Ticket Stamp Set and are also stamped in Pacific Point. I punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and adhered them with some more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I thought the card needed a little bling so I put some Basic Jewels Rhinestones on the main image. Who wouldn’t want to get a card proclaiming that they are amazing?!?! I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Paper Player Color Challenge from Anne Marie. Oh, congratulations to Audrey for being my choice for Cut Above for last week’s challenge. Morning all! Ahh… Saturday how I love thee! I’m off to the city this morning to visit my friend Kim. We are going to the movies later to see the Life of Pi and after that maybe we’ll get some Korean food, yum! What are you all up to today? It’s supposed to be in the 50’s here and tomorrow we are supposed to get up to the 60’s! Now that’s more like it! I’m sure that it will be short lived but appreciated none the less.

Today’s post is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. For this week’s challenge they have given us a color challenge…

    CCMC 234

A very different color combinations for me. I do love Midnight Muse and I wanted to do something a little different. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock and I stamped the leaves from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set** in Midnight Muse down the right side of the base. The background and the Pink Pirouette rounded squares are both embossed with the Vine Street Textured Impressions Embossing Folder**. The larger rounded squares under the Pink Pirouette ones are Midnight Muse. I rounded the corners with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and the Pink ones are rounded with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. The “petals are adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting I used the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set stamped in Midnight Muse and rounded all of the corners of it with the 3/16” Corner Rounder. I really like the retro modern feel of the card and I enjoyed the colors together more than I thought I would. I hope you like my Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge card for this week. Thank you for visiting me today and don’t forget to come back tomorrow for a new Paper Players Color Challenge from Anne Marie. Have a adventurous day! 🙂

Good day to you and welcome to the January edition of the Stylin’ Stampin’ Squad Blog Hop featuring products from the Stampin’ Up! 2013 Spring Catalog. We have some great projects in store for you today! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from Terry Blais‘ blog, didn’t she have some great stuff to share with you? I have two projects for you today, a card and a box that would be great for some chocolates!

First up we have the card. The base of it is Raspberry Ripple Card Stock. The background is created with the Woodgrain Background Stamp, in Summer Starfruit, and some Whisper White Card Stock. A strip of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack goes across the bottom. The flowers and leaves are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies. The leaves are stamped in Gumball Green and the flowers in Raspberry Ripple on Primrose Petals. I used the Boho Blossom Punch for the centers in Summer Starfruit and a Basic Jewel Pearl is adhered in the middle of each. The flowers are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting I stamped the happy birthday from the Made for You Stamp Set in Raspberry Ripple. I love the woodgrain as a background for the flowers and the framelits make cutting them out so easy. I have a few people in mind that might like this for their birthday!

Next we have a box. It definitely would be great for some chocolates but you could also fit a host of other more “precious” gifts inside. The box measures 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ x 1 1/2″ and is created using Crumb Cake Card Stock and my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. To decorate the box I used the Adorning Accents Textured Impressions Embossing Folders with some Primrose Petals. The flags are made from pieces of More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper. For the heart I stamped the image from the You are Loved Stamp Set in Primrose Petals and cut it out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. I pierced around the edge with the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool and adhered it to the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The love is from the same set and is stamped in Pool Party and Primrose Petals. I used the Decorative Label Punch and the Large Oval Punch to punch them out and layered them for more dimension. I still vote that we fill the box with some chocolate!
