Control Freaks May Blog Tour – New Catalog Sneak Peek!

freakwelcome2013

Time sure flies doesn’t it?! Guess I must be having fun! Welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour featuring sneak peeks of goodies from the new 2014-2015 Annual Catalog! I have to say that I am loving the new Catalog, I like the layout and the products are all awesome! If you are following the tour you have arrived here from the talented Melissa Davies’ blog, always great ideas and really fun stuff! This month I have two cards and a little box that can hold a treat!

First up is a card using the new Sea Street Stamp Set and the Maritime Designer Series Paper. I used Real Red Card Stock for my card base and the background is a piece of Coastal Cabana that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Remember that one from Sale-A-Bration? It’s back! The greeting is from the Something to Say Stamp Set and is stamped in Real Red on Whisper White and cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits. Two pieces of paper from the Maritime Designer Series Paper Pack are up next. The top square has a heart cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits and is mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals along with the greeting in the middle. The little octopus is from the Sea Street Stamp Set, stamped in Night of Navy and cut out with my Paper Snips. I love to fussy cut but he was a little bit of a challenge! LOL! The fun patterns in the DSP and the cute little octopus make for a fun card!

My second card uses one of my favorite new sets. I’m a huge fan of the details in the stamps! This card starts off with a base of Garden Green Card Stock. The background is a piece of Very Vanilla stamped with the World Map Background Stamp in Smoky Slate. The three images are from the Traveler Stamp Set and are stamped in Night of Navy, Soft Suede and Memento Tuxedo Black. I cut them all out with my Paper Snips, much easier than the octopus! The greeting I chose is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set and is stamped in Night of Navy. I used the Word Bubbles Framelits to cut it out and snipped off the point to make it a perfect rectangle. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere everything to the card. I think the images with the map and the greeting make for a happy card. Travel means possibilities and fun. It’s definitely the life that I imagine!

Finally I have a little box for you. It’s the perfect size for a little treat or to put a gift card in. The box is created using a piece of Hello Honey Card Stock and the Hamburger Box Bigz XL Die. On the top is a bow that I cut out from a piece of Lullaby Designer Series Paper with the Gift Bow Bigz XL Die. I used the new Fast Fix Adhesive to assemble it and a Stampin’ Dimensional holds it to the top of the box. My greeting on the front is from the Label Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and punched out with the Artisan Label Punch. A quick fun project that would make anyones birthday a little more fun!

Creation Station Blog Tour – Work of Art

creation station header

Happy Sunday and welcome to the second blog tour for the Creation Station! Thanks so much for joining us. If you came by on the last one you know that we focus on one stamp set and an accessory every other Sunday to give you inspiration! If this is your first time with us welcome! If you are following the Tour you have arrived here from the very clever Deborah Smart’s blog. How was that for inspiration?! I hope that I can give you some ideas on how to use our featured stamp set Work of Art and accessory Bakers Twine. The post has lots of pictures that I have taken during the process of making the projects so sit back relax and enjoy!

My first project is a card and it’s packed full of new goodies! I used my new favorite color Lost Lagoon* for my base. The background is created with a piece of Blushing Bride that I stamped in Blushing Bride with the longest stroke from the Work of Art* Stamp Set. I used my Gird Paper to help me line it it all up.

Creation Station Blog Tour 4

Next up is a Tea Lace Paper Doily that I brayed in Lost Lagoon*. I went over it a few times to make it nice and dark to help my heart in the middle stand out a bit more.

Creation Station Blog Tour 6

The smaller heart is stamped in Lost Lagoon* using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure they are nice and even. The greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set and is stamped in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Creation Station Blog Tour 1Creation Station Blog Tour 3

I used the Hearts Collection Framelits to cut it out and a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock. I used the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce around the edge.

Creation Station Blog Tour 2

Across the bottom are 5 hearts that I stamped in Lost Lagoon* and punched out with the Small Heart Punch. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them and the large heart to the card.

Creation Station Blog Tour 5

Finally I used the Owl Builder Punch to punch out a tiny heart from some Blushing Bride to go in the middle of the greeting. I have to say that Lost Lagoon* goes really well with so many different colors. I think it looks quite snazzy paired with Blushing Bride and some Gold thrown in for good measure!

Creation Station Blog Tour 7

Creation Station Blog Tour 8

Next up is a card again using the Work of Art Stamp Set for a Background and my favorite little fish! This card starts off with a base of Basic Black and the background is Whisper White embossed with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The background for the goodies are the zig zags from the Work of Art Stamp Set, stamped in Island Indigo, Lost Lagoon*, Pool Party and Soft Sky.

Creation Station Blog Tour 9

I backed it with more Basic Black and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My fish is from the By the Tide Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Silver Foil Sheet punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and a standard hole punch make the bubbles.

Creation Station Blog Tour 11

The greeting is from the May Paper Pumpkin Kit and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on adhesive cork sheet and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits.

Creation Station Blog Tour 10

I really love using cork sheet, it cuts nicely with our Framelits and takes ink pretty well. The stamps that come with the Paper Pumpkin kits are some of my favorites too!

Creation Station Blog Tour 12

Creation Station Blog Tour 13

My final card uses our featured accessory Bakers Twine. The base for this card is Soft Sky and the background is s piece of So Saffron that is embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Sale-A-Bration that is in the new Catalog! I used the Something for Baby Stamp Set* to stamp the safety pins and heat embossed them in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder, I think it gives a nice real look to them.

Creation Station Blog Tour 14

They are cut out with the Baby’s First Framelits*, love matching Framelits don’t you?! Next up I cut out a piece of Soft Sky with the same Framelits and used the Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack* to pierce around the edge. A needle and White Bakers Twine sew the twine through the piercing.

Creation Station Blog Tour 15

My greeting is from the Baby, We’ve Grown Stamp Set from the Occasions Catalog, it’s carried over! I stamped it in Soft Sky and punched it out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. I think that the sewn Bakers Twine adds so much along with the silver safety pins. A fun card to welcome in a new little one!

Hello Moonlight Feathers

Well, we finally did get the rain last night and some really strong wind to go along with it. I would say that it really rained good from about 8:00PM until 2:00AM. Again, I’ll take the rain over snow any day thank you! And it’s beautiful and sunny out this morning! Other than that my Friday was a good one. Work was good. I did get a new 36″ HP DesignJet printer so I can print posters. It is quite large and sort of looks like a piano! I came home and crafted for a bit and watched some TV, relaxing is always a good thing. I have a ton of projects to make today, it will be a happy crafty day for me. No Manhattan this weekend, maybe next weekend?! What are all of you up to?

I didn’t have any particular challenge to post for today so I made a just for fun card. I wasn’t really loving the Tangelo Twist* but I think I may be warming up to it! My card base is Soft Sky Card Stock and the background is a piece of Tangelo Twist* that I embossed with the Modern Mosaic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It’s cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″ to let more of the base show. The greeting is from the Hello Love Host(ess)* Stamp Set and is stamped in Lost Lagoon* and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits. My two “feathers” are created with some Moonlight Designer Series Paper* and the Ovals Collection Framelits. A few Mini Glue Dots hold them in place behind the rest of the greeting which is also stamped in Lost Lagoon*. A Subtles Designer Button with a piece of Lost Lagoon* and a Basic Jewel Rhinestone that I colored with the Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers goes on the banner over the bottom of the feathers to complete the card. I think the Soft Sky, Tangelo Twist* and Lost Lagoon* make quite a bright and fun color combination don’t you?! So there is my just for fun card for today. I hope that you enjoyed it and getting a good look at the new In-Colors. I like them more and more each time I use them! Thank you for taking some time out of your day to come by and visit, it makes my day! Enjoy your Saturday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 204

Love Friday! I said that once on a card this week already didn’t I?! LOL! Well, I really do love Friday! My trip into Manhattan last night was nice except that it has gotten warm enough for the Subways to start to have that lovely pungent odor again! I got to my friend Ella’s and she had gotten me a nice slice of pizza with big chunks of garlic, yum! We had some wine and caught up. She is such a great person. I did manage to snap a picture of the 6 train as it was pulling in. Going into the city at 6:00PM is always fun. You have to fight your way through the crowds that are heading to Penn Station, it’s not an easy task!

6 at 59th Street

See all of that yuck in the middle of the tracks? I think that’s what gives the Subway it’s signature smell!

Now on to today’s card which is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge from Margaret Moody…

PPA 204

I always like to have some masculine birthday cards on hand and the new Traveler Stamp Set* is great for those. My card is sort of inspired by my train rides last night too. The base is Lost Lagoon* Card Stock, a new favorite of mine! I stamped the locomotive from the Traveler Stamp Set* in Lost Lagoon* on Very Vanilla and backed it with a piece of Basic Black. The strip of paper is from the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper Pack and is also backed with some Basic Black. I choose my greeting from the Label Love Stamp Set, also stamped it in Lost Lagoon* and punched it out with the Artisan Label Punch. A piece of Basic Black is cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits and backs the greeting. They are adhered to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sketch provided a great layout for a nice and simple masculine card don’t you think?! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. Thank you for stopping by and make sure that you have an amazing Friday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 93

Apparently either I got the weather wrong or the weather man did! It was another lovely day here yesterday, cooler but beautiful. I think they said the rain was supposed to start sometime today and then again on Friday. Work was nice again today, I usually have a little morning chat with my boss when she comes in and I have come to really enjoy it. When I got home last night I made a card and then went out an ran some errands. I needed to get some lunch for the rest of the week and pick up a new screen protector for my watch. The rest of the evening was quiet, which is always nice.

Today is Wednesday and that means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew for our sketch challenge…

PCCCS093 Sketch 5-14-2014

I had a little fun with the sentiment on today’s card and you’ll appreciate it when you see it! My card base is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. The tag, lower flag and Love circle are all from the Project Life Everyday Adventure Card Collection and the Accessory Pack. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Whisper White to back the love and the two more from Bermuda Bay and Pear Pizzaz. The Friday is from the Project Life Day to Day Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Black. I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch on the journaling card and trimmed a little off the bottom. An Essentials Wooden Elements triangle is at the top. I also cut out a piece of adhesive cork sheet with the Circles Collection Framelits and slipped it behind the tag. All of the elements are adhered to the card and each other with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the nice bright colors and patterns in the Project Life set and the way the triangle and cork oppose all of the modern geometric elements. You can also see why I said that I had fun with the greeting, Love Friday, yes I do! LOL! A fun card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge, don’t you think?! Make sure and go over to the blog to check out the other projects from the rest of the design team and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your interpretation of the sketch. Love having you visit with me, thanks! Enjoy your day everyone! 🙂

Mojo 345 and Roses

It was another nice day here yesterday, a little more humid than Sunday but sunny for most of the day. I’m very happy to see that Spring has finally arrived! We are supposed to get some rain over the next few days but I think that Sunday more than made up for a few days of rain. My day yesterday was nice, work productive but not crazy. I had some dinner with my parents and then came home and Andrew and Christine stopped by for a bit to discuss a fundraiser that we are working on. I’ll give you more details as things get finalized. It’s going to be a lot of fun and it’s for a really good cause! For a little added bonus at the end of today’s post are the roses that I made for my mum for Mother’s Day.

It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for some new weekly deals from Stampin’ Up! Here are this week’s specials…

My post that I have for you today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch and Julee Tilman has give us a fun one this time…

Mojo345

I looked at the sketch yesterday morning before I left for work and actually put the card together in my little brain while I was at work! Love when I can do that! I’m also giving you a look at the new In-Colors which I’m loving! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock and I covered the entire front with a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack*. The panel is a piece of Hello Honey and I cut the circles out with the Circles Collection Framelits. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card over the DSP, but let it peek through the circles and the left side. The two other circles are also cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits from Blackberry Bliss* and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Simply Celebrate Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss* and cut out with the Banners Framelits. A thin strip of Basic Gray goes down the left and it’s adhered to the circle with SNAIL. The Moonlight Designer Series Paper* is great, love the colors and patterns. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and your sneak peek at the new In-Colors and Designer Series Paper. Your visits keep the creativity flowing and your comments make my days brighter! Thank you for your visit and have a great Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 195 & a Few Extras!

Happy Monday! Yes, happy because yesterday was such an amazingly gorgeous day here on Long Island. I mean perfect temperatures, in the low 70’s and the sun was shining, there was even a slight breeze. Just complete bliss! I went and met my friend Joe for breakfast. He is in town from Los Angeles for a bit. We went to the diner and then came back to my house and caught up. It was good to see him, it’s been over a year. He is here for a little bit longer so I hope to see him again before he goes back. After I went for a nice ride in the convertible and I did manage to craft for a bit and watched a little TV too. All in all an almost perfect day! Also, thank you all so much for your wonderful comments on both cards from yesterday’s post. I really appreciate you taking the time to write and I know that Andrew does too! I hope that your Sunday was just as amazing!

If you scroll to the bottom of the post you will see the cards that I made for my friend Danielle. They are all duplicates of ones I have made before. One is a recent one and the other two are from a long time ago. 🙂

Monday, yes, that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my talented friend Sandy has given us a color challenge with a great inspiration picture…

Paper Players #195

Today’s card is sort of a toned down collage card. I used only two stamp sets! I’m just as shocked as you are! LOL! The base is So Saffron Card Stock and I stamped the images from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set in So Saffron right on the base. A piece of Gold Foil Sheet cut out with the On Film Framelits is adhered to the base to frame a piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper that I punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. I stamped the image in the circle in Calypso Coral from the same set and punched it out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch, it serves as the anchor for the rest of the goodies. The flowers are also from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set, I heat embossed them with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Calypso Coral and then cut them out with my Paper Snips. Some Pear Pizzaz cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit are tucked behind them. My greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set and is stamped in Pear Pizzaz. I cut it out with the Bitty Banners Framelits and also a piece of Gold Foil Sheet to back it. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the card. I think it’s a fun eclectic card and I love the gold accents, they go so nicely with the So Saffron and Calypso Coral. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy. I so appreciate you coming and spending some time with me. I hope that you all have a great Monday! 🙂

Pals Paper Arts 203 & Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you wonderful mothers out there! Where would we be without you? In big trouble and if the truth be told not here at all! I do have a Mother’s Day card for you today but it’s not mine. I had a very nice relaxing day yesterday. I got my haircut and then crafted for a bit. I watched some TV and then Andrew stopped by to make his mom a Mother’s Day card. I think he did a great job! He used the Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers and even did some fussy cutting! I have the pictures to prove it too! Here he is coloring…

Andrew Coloring

And here he is fussy cutting…

Andrew Fussy Cutting

The funny thing is I asked him if he wanted a stamp that had a Framelit and he said yes. After he cut them out he didn’t like the white around the flower so he ended up cutting them out anyway. He did an awesome job coloring and cutting. He did some heat embossing too. And here is the card that he made for his mom…

Andrew MD 2014-WM

I think he did a great job! I’m sure that she will love it! And the flowers are just amazing! You’ll have to let us know what you think! 🙂

Now off to my card which is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 203

When I see theses colors I think of fall but I decided that if your mom liked the colors my card might even make a good Mother’s Day card! LOL! I needed a collage style card. There are a lot of goodies on it so be warned! The base of the card is Cajun Craze Card Stock. I adhered one of the Tea Lace paper Doilies in the right corner for a little background. Next up is a piece of Very Vanilla that I cut the top edge of with the File Tabs Edgelits Dies. I stamped the greeting from the Countless Sayings 1 & 2 Photopolymer Stamp Sets in Night of Navy. In the lower right is a piece of Night of Navy that I cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and then trimmed some of it away. The angled strip of Cajun Craze is embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and on top of it are two tickets from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set. They are stamped in Night of Navy and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. Above that is a piece of Night of Navy that I cut out with one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies. The xoxo is from the same and is cut out from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. My tag is a piece of Night of Navy that I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder on. I also Paper-Pierced around the edge with the Eclectic Paper-Piercing Pack*. A piece of Natural 5/8″ Chevron Ribbon tied with some White Bakers Twine goes through the top. My flowers are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are stamped in Cajun Craze on Cajun Craze. I used the Gold Stampin’ Dazzle Marker to make the centers. Last up is a Regals Designer Button adhered with the new Fast Fix Adhesive. Like I said there is a lot but I think that it all works quite well together. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge and also Andrew’s Mother’s Day Card. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope that you all have a great Sunday and a wonderful Mother’s Day! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 135

That was a very good Friday! I got to go on my 50+ mile field trip and enjoyed it thoroughly even though it was gloomy. I got a lot accomplished at the office too, a very productive day. Anthony, Bill and I went to Friday’s for dinner and we waited to sit with our favorite waitress Meg. Since it’s Mother’s Day weekend they had a special, 1/2 price bottles of wine so we thought why not! We had the Cupcake Pinot Noir, delicious! After dinner we ran to Target because Anthony needed some stuff. I picked up some Watermelon Oreos and Birthday Cake M&M’s. We tried the M&M’s and they are quite yummy! I’ll let you know about the Watermelon Oreos! How was your Friday? I hope that it was just as good as mine! I also have an extra card for you today so be sure to scroll down after you see today’s post!

The post that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch this week is brought to us by the talented Narelle…

Freshly Made Sketches #135

A neat layout that would work for any kind of card. I decided that I would do a masculine birthday card. You can never have too many cards on hand ready to go right?! I also wanted to combine a new favorite with some old ones. My card starts off with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock and the background is a piece of Summer Starfruit that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My panel is a piece of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper that is backed with some Island Indigo and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. That great suitcase is from the Traveler Stamp Set* and is stamped in Early Espresso, I cut it out with my Paper Snips and adhered the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. My greeting comes from the Four You Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. Tucked under it are three flags that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. The detail in the stamps from the Traveler Set is quite amazing as you can see in the closeup picture and I will miss Summer Starfruit and the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper. But there will be plenty of new stuff to play with and I will get to make new favorites! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I’m always happy to share some of my day with you! Make sure that you do something fun and have a great Saturday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 92

Hello Wednesday! How nice to see you again! We are halfway there peeps! Yesterday was another nice day weather wise and a calm day work wise. A pretty good day all around. My friend Danielle needed two mother’s day cards and a birthday card so I came home and made them last night. One of them was the Stippled Blossoms card from the Creation Station blog tour and the other two are throwbacks from a while ago. I’ll post them later in the week. I’m so glad that I keep my stamp sets, never know when I will have to pull one out of the archives!

Wednesday means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch challenge…

PCCCS092 Sketch 5-07-2014

I was going through one of my many craft drawers the other day and I came across the fun stamp that I used on today’s card. I got it at Convention last year. It’s an original Shannon West creation! My card base is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. On the bottom half is a piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper. I used some of the new Fast Fix Adhesive to adhere some 5/8″ Crochet Trim, pleating it as I went across. The greeting, which I mentioned before, is stamped in Calypso Coral on Very Vanilla and backed with a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. The flower in the top left is Calypso Coral cut out with the Blossom Party Originals Die. In the middle is a Neutrals Designer Button. The flowers in the lower right are also Calypso Coral punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. Some Basic Jewels Pearls are in the middles and also along the side of the main panel. The neat little bird is from the Nature’s Hello Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip and cut out with the Backyard Basics Stamp Set. A pretty cool layout with a little bit of a vintage feel to it. And there is my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. Be sure and stop by the blog to see the other designer’s creations and add your one to the gallery so we can take a peek at yours! I always appreciate your stopping by and I hope that you all have a very nice Wednesday! 🙂
