Paper Players 184

Hello my friends, how was the weekend? Mine was good. It was a very nice day here yesterday we got up to 58 degrees, yes the top was down in the car! I have been waiting months to put it down! I did some crafting in the morning and then spent the rest of the day with my friend Heather. We ran some errands and then just hung out at her house and talked and laughed. I love days spent with my friends, they really are the best!

It’s Monday so that means it time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. This week we have a sketch from Jaydee…

Paper Players #184

I really love the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper, it has great colors and nice soft patterns and images. My card today starts off with a base of Smoky Slate Card Stock and the background is a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper. Next up is a Tea Lace Paper Doily that helps to anchor the greeting. Before that, a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe, Tangerine Tango and Silver Foil Sheet go across the middle. My greeting is from the You’re Lovely Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration and is stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe and cut out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. Two Basic Jewels Rhinestones on either side give it a little sparkle. Even though the DSP doesn’t list Crisp Cantaloupe I think it works really well with it, especially with the Tangerine Tango. And there you have my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from Jaydee. I really do appreciate your stopping by and also taking time to leave a comment. You guys make my day every day! Have a great Monday everyone! 🙂

Feathered Gold Love You

I will give you fair warning that this post is very photo heavy! LOL! I decided that yesterday was going to be a relaxing day so I ended up not going to Manhattan. However, my friend Kim did take a walk through Central Park and was kind enough to send me some pictures! We’ll get to those in a minute. Yesterday morning I got up and did some crafty things. I had a project sitting on my desk that I wanted to finish, it’s my card for today and I LOVE it! I ran some errands with Andrew and we had some Sonic for lunch. After I came home and finished some more projects. The rest of the day was quiet except for some car trouble for Andrew which hopefully turns out to be covered by a recall. Oh, remember that wine that I told you about the other day? Well, I went back to Stew Leonard’s and I remembered to take a picture of the sign:

Layer Cake Malbec

Doesn’t that sound delicious?!?! Believe me it was! I tend to prefer a Pinot Noir but I really like this one too!

Now for some Manhattan pictures. The first one is a wide shot of the Conservatory Garden. In the warmer weather they are filled with flowers. I’ll make sure and go in the spring to show you the difference.

Conservatory Garden

In the center you can see the Untermyer Fountain. Walter Schott’s Three Dancing Maidens depicts a circle of three young women whose dresses cling to their wet bodies as if they were perpetually in the fountain’s spray. Here is a close up of the fountain:

Untermyer Fountain

Pretty neat isn’t it? You can go HERE to read a little more about the three ladies.

Ok, now on to my card for today. I was inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest and I needed to make a card with lots of goodies on it and this definitely has a lot of stuff! I also made an exception to a rule I try to never break; I used glitter! I’ll be cleaning that up for a while! My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. Across the top is a piece of paper from the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. The top right and lower left corners are rounded. The next thing I did was stamp the arrows from the Peachy Keen Stamp Set in Encore Gold Metallic Ink. I used a piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum for my “background” and stamped the love from the Best of Love Stamp Set in Basic Black. My arrow is one of the pieces from the Essentials Wooden Elements and the XOXO is from the Quite the Pair Stamp Set and is stamped also in Basic Black. Three stars are cut out from Gold Foil Sheet, one using an element from the Circle Card Thinlits and two with the Merry Minis Punch Pack. In the upper right is one of the mini clothespins from the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit with a piece of Gold Bakers Twine tied in a bow. In the clip are two feathers that I cut out with my e-cutter and the Feathered Woodcuts Digital Kit. I then heat embossed them with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A small piece of Basic Black that I flagged is on top. Finally I used my e-cutter to cut out the you, it’s the American Typewriter Font and is covered in Gold Stampin’ Glitter. I love this card! The colors and all of the elements work well together and are fun! I’m really having a good time with my e-cutter too. The Feathered Woodcuts is definitely my favorite MDS file so far! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for today. Special thanks to Kim for the pictures and I thank you very much for coming by to see it all and hope that you have a great Sunday everyone! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 81

Well, the snow turned out to be not that big of a deal yesterday! We got about an inch and then it turned to rain. I was never so happy to see rain in all my life! LOL! Things are gearing up at work again. My one day reprieve is over! Last night was a nice relaxing evening. Andrew came over, we ran some errands, had some wine and wings and listened to some music. Not bad for a Tuesday night!

The best thing about Wednesday is that it means we’re halfway through the week. The next best thing is that it means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

PCCCS081-2-19-2014

I mixed up a few of the elements but still stayed pretty true to the sketch. My card starts off with a base of Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock and the background is a piece of Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The panel in the middle is a piece of Whisper White that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with a piece of Baked Brown Sugar. My three flowers are from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and are stamped in Real Red and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits Dies. The butterfly is from the Nature’s Hello Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits Dies. On the lower left is a piece of Real Red that was cut out with the Banners Framelits Dies and on top of that I stamped one of the stamps from the Mosaic Madness Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar and punched it out with the Mosaic Punch. The flowers, butterfly and mosaic are all adhered to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really like the versatility of the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack, it goes quite well with the Mosaic Madness Stamp Set, and so many other things, too! And that’s my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s sketch challenge! Check out the blog to see what the other design team members have done with the sketch, and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your spin on it. As always, I hope you enjoyed my card and thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂

Paper Players 183

Another weekend behind us and on to the start of a new week. I had a very nice weekend, they are always the best when I get to spend them with my peeps. Yesterday I ran some errands in the morning and then met my friend Heather for some lunch. We went to Taco Joe’s and I had a yummy chicken quesadilla. After lunch we ran some more errands, one of which was stopping at Stew Leonard’s, and then went back to Heather’s and had a glass of wine. It was called Juary Gil Jumilia Red and it was quite delicious. I came home and watched another movie (two in one weekend!) called Warm Bodies. It was a zombie movie with a different spin, it was pretty good. What were all of you up to this weekend?

Monday means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week the clever LeAnne has asked us to make a clean and simple card with stars…

Paper Players #183

I found the inspiration for my card from one that I saw on Pinterest, speaking of Pinterest if you are a Demonstrator don’t forget to sign up for my webinar on Wednesday, February 26th at 6:00pm Mountain time! The card starts off with a base of Very Vanilla Card Stock. A piece of Coastal Cabana is up next, stamped with the Happy Day Stamp Set in Chocolate Chip and I used the Finishing Touches Edgelits Die along the bottom edge. There is that “Vintage” Young Vermillion again and he is stamped in Chocolate Chip. Along the bottom is one of the stamps from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set that is stamped in Coastal Cabana. I used one of the Stampin’ Spritzers to spritz on some Coastal Cabana and wound some Linen Thread around the bottom before I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The three stars from the Merry Mini’s Punch Pack are punched out from Crumb Cake and a heart from Coastal Cabana with the Small Heart Punch are also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. He needed a little sparkle so I replaced his branch with a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper! I actually think that that little bird is my all time favorite stamp, he is so detailed! So there you have my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge from LeAnne. I hope that you enjoy the card and thank you for taking some time out of your day to visit with me, have a great Monday! 🙂

Fab Friday 35 & Happy Valentine’s Day!

Finally… it’s Friday! Yesterday was a real mess here weather wise. It started snowing at 12:30 Thursday morning and by the time I left to trek into the office we had about 8 inches. The flakes were so big that by the time you finished cleaning off the car you had to do it again! They did let us leave work at 11:45, I was the only one from my department that made it in, actually there were only about 15 people in the building yesterday. By the time I did leave work it was raining and continued to do that for most of the day. Below is a picture of what my ride to work looked like yesterday morning.

2-13-2014 Ride to Work

You can see how big the snowflakes are in the picture! We got another 3 inches last night, hopefully it’s done now!

Another great thing about this Friday is it’s time for Fab Friday! This week I’m happy to announce that my friend Brian King has joined the Design Team! Yeah! To start him off we have a sketch for you…

Fab Fri 35 Sketch 2-14-2014

The doily was there so I had to use it but I tried to step outside the box for the rest of the card. My card base is Smoky Slate Card Stock. I created a frame from a piece of Soft Suede and Crushed Curry and adhered a piece of Pear Pizzaz Taffeta Ribbon around the bottom. Before I adhered the frame to the card I used a piece of the Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper and two pieces of Pear Pizzaz that I cut out with the Little Leaves Sizzlit. My flowers are from the Simple Stems Stamp Set and are stamped in Wisteria Wonder and cut out with the Secret Garden Framelits. The frame and flowers are adhered to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my greeting is from the Express Yourself Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. My Stamp-a-ma-jig assures precise placement! I really do like the mix of colors inspired by the Afternoon Picnic DSP. I needed a touch of spring after today! LOL! There you have my Design Team card for the Fab Friday challenge. Check out the blog and see what Brian and the other Design Team members have done with the sketch and show us what you have done by entering your card in the gallery. Thanks for checking and enjoy your Valentine’s Day! Oh, I almost forgot, if you scroll down to the bottom of the post there is a bonus card! A little love from me to you! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 80

It was another nice frigid day here yesterday in New York getting us prepared for all the snow we’re supposed to get tonight. They’re saying anywhere from 3 to 10 inches of snow again and I say this better be the last one! LOL! Remember my friend Danielle came over recently and made up a Valentine’s Day card for her boyfriend. Well, not to be outdone, her sister, Stephanie, came over last night to make one for her boyfriend. She asked for a little guidance but she worked mostly on her own. Here is what she came up with…

Stephanie V'day Card 2014

Pretty good for a first try! She said that Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder reminded her of tire tracks.

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This is what we have for you this week…

PCCCS080 2-12-2014

My inspiration for my card comes from the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. My card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. The background is a piece of Smoky Slate that I embossed with the Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Some Gold Foil Sheet is punched out with the Triangle Punch and adhered down the left side of the card. I used the Starburst Framelits Dies to cut out a piece of Bermuda Bay that serves as a backing for my “love” which is cut out from more Gold Foil Sheet using the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits Dies. Two flagged pieces of the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper peek out from behind the Starburst on the right side. I find the color combination to be a little bold but I do like the gold accents. I also realized after that I made the card, there isn’t a single stamp on the card! I hope that you have enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Remember to head over to the blog to see what the other Design Team members have done with the sketch, and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take as well! As always, I appreciate your visit. I’m off to Brooklyn later on tonight to see Andrew perform with Satellite Lane. Hopefully the snow will wait to start until we come home! Have a happy Hump Day! 🙂

Paper Players 182

Wow! that weekend just flew by! My Sunday was a little messed up, I didn’t get up until 9:45! That’s why my post was so late yesterday. I haven’t slept that late in years! It threw my whole day off, so funny how a little routine change can mess things up! I did get to spend some time crafting and ran an errand or two but for the most part I just took it easy. How was the rest of your weekend? I’m so happy that you enjoyed the pictures and I have informed Andrew that he needs to make another card or two! 🙂

Monday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week Nance has given us a fun color combo…

Paper Players #182

I love these colors together and I took one look at it and the idea for the card crept into my brain! My card base is Midnight Muse Card Stock and the background is a piece of Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper. I used the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on another piece of Midnight Muse and flagged the bottom. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The Secret Garden Framelits are used to cut out a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper and the flowers that are from the Simple Stems Stamp Set and are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe. There is also a strip of Champagne Glimmer Paper across the top. My greeting is from the Simply Celebrate Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with one of the dies from the Circle Card Thinlits. A few loose sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim complete the card. So there you have my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Nance. Le tme know what you think of it by leaving me a comment. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your Monday! 🙂

Geometrical Love

Happy Sunday! I hope that you are all having a good weekend! I had a very nice day in Manhattan yesterday. I took the 7:11 train in and stopped at Starbucks before I went to see my friends Jim and Diane. I always enjoy visiting them, they are such great people. I left there around 12:00 and spoke to Andrew who decided to come in and meet Kim and I for lunch. We went to our favorite diner and when we finished Andrew and I decided to wander around a bit. We went to cross 2nd Avenue and Andrew saw this sign…

JRK Zone

How neat is that, my initials! I had to take a picture, that will probably never happen again! Next up is a picture of Andrew and I that Kim took. I never remember to take any pictures of my peeps, but I did yesterday!

Andrew Justin 2nd Ave

Finally when we were headed back uptown Andrew suggested that I take a picture of the MetLife and Helmsley buildings down Park Avenue. It looked kinda neat all lit up!

Park Ave Met Life Night

So there are some little snapshots from our adventure yesterday in Manhattan! And now on to today’s post. Every once in a while I get to sit down and make a bunch of cards that have nothing to do with challenges, they’re kind of “just because” cards. Today’s card is one of those…

My card base is Smoky Slate Card Stock. I took a piece of Whisper White and stamped the triangles from the Geometrical Stamp Set in Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay and Strawberry Slush. The greeting, also from the same set, is stamped in Strawberry Slush and my Stamp-a-ma-jig helped me line all of them up. Some Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper is cut into a square, backed with some Whisper White and I used the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies to cut the heart out of the middle. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card and let the stamped images underneath peek through the heart. For a little extra pizzazz, I cut one of the arrows from the Label Card Thinlits Dies from a piece of Silver Foil Sheet and adhered that on top of the DSP with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. A relatively simple card with a modern twist. I really like the popped up DSP with the heart cut out of the middle! I hope you enjoyed my different take on a Valentine today, thank you as always for stopping by and also sharing in my adventure in Manhattan! Have a wonderful day!

Pals Paper Arts 190

A very good Saturday to you! Yesterday at work we had the Longevity Awards at the Hilton. The best thing about them… breakfast! I had some eggs, bacon, sausage and French toast! I told you that I tend to eat way too much towards the end of the week! This morning I’m off to Manhattan to see my friend Jim and then I’ll meet Kim for some lunch. We are supposed to get more snow Sunday night into Monday, but not the 30 inches that they had originally called for! Whew! Thank heavens for that! What kinds of things are you up to today?!

My post for today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge. This week we have a nice color combination…

PPA 190

I saw the colors and immediately thought of a Valentine, but I needed something a little different and this is what I came up with. My card starts off with a base of Blushing Bride Card Stock. A strip of Silver Foil Sheet goes along the bottom. I stamped a piece of Rose Red with the World Map Stamp in Rose Red and adhered it on an angle. My tag is Basic Gray and I used the Angle Tag Topper Punch to make it and flagged the bottom for a little bit of a different look. The stamped images are form the Love You More Stamp Set, the globe is stamped in Basic Gray and cut out with my Paper Snips and the greeting in Rose Red and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. Two arrows from the Label Card Thinlits Dies are cut out from Blushing Bride and Rose red and adhered to the globe. I doubled a piece of White Bakers Twine for the top of the tag and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few scattered Basic Jewels Rhinestones finish it off. My obsession with tags continues but I think the flagged bottom mixes it up a little! LOL I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. I wish you all a very nice Saturday and thank you for checking in! 🙂

Catherine and Cathy Create 23

CCC_CardsChallenge-003

Happy Friday peeps! No adverse weather to report from yesterday, just really cold but that’s nothing compared to what we have had lately! Work was ok yesterday, I got to run out for a bit to pick up some stuff. After work I met my friend Heather for some dinner. She is going skiing for the first time this weekend and she said we should have dinner in case she didn’t make it back! We went to Anthony’s Coal Fire Pizza and it was delicious as usual. We had a traditional thin crust pizza with calamata olives and Poscuitto, Yum! Today at work we have the Longevity Awards at the Hilton so breakfast will be good! I have this issue where I tend to eat too much towards the end of the week! LOL!

Today I’m over on the Catherine and Cathy Create blog for this month’s cards challenge. This time we have a fun theme… Gold-i-licious! I’m loving the gold on cards lately so I had some fun! My card is based on the Mojo sketch for this week, I really liked it so I thought I would give it another go! The card base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I used a piece of Brushed Gold for my background and a piece of I Am Me Designer Series Paper for my banner which I backed with some Whisper White for stability. Some Gold Sequin Trim goes around the top and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. My piece of Basic Gray is embossed with the “Vintage” Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The greeting is from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. For the hearts I used some Gold Foil Sheet and Champagne Glimmer Paper and the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies to cut them out. My arrow is one of the elements form the Label Card Thinlits Dies. All of the elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I personally think that this card would make a great masculine Valentine, even with all of the gold! Thank you ever so much for stopping by to see my Design Team card for this month’s cards challenge over at Catherine and Cathy Create. Stop by the blog and see all of the other fun projects and upload your take to the gallery. You might win this month’s prize, the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set! I hope that you all have a super Friday! 🙂
