Freshly Made Sketches 122

Wow! Thursday already! Pretty good speed for this week. The weather you ask… it snowed in the morning and then rained yesterday making the snow nice and heavy and the roads a slushy mess. Last night it went down to 19 degrees so it all froze. Winter is just not very nice this year! I came home last night and crafted for a bit, picked up Andrew from a cappella practice and dropped him at home. He is not feeling well again and has a concert on Friday. Hopefully his cough will be under control by then. It’s miserable being sick as you know but when you sing it’s worse. How is everything in your neck of the woods?

Some more Stampin’ Up! news for you today. They have released another Photopolymer Stamp Set called Sans and Stripes. It’s a fun modern alphabet set. You can stamp them alone or use the stripes one to create a shadow. Check out the image below or click HERE for a PDF of the flyer!

My inspiration for today’s post comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. The sketch this week is provided by Cindy…

I had some fun using a bunch of different elements for this card. The base is Soft Suede Card Stock and the background is a piece of Bermuda Bay That I rounded the top corners of. The strip of paper across the lower half is from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. My heart is a piece of Real Red that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch on a piece of Whisper White and one of the elements from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies on the bottom to cut out the “xoxo”. My greeting is from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. Three little banners from the Love You More Stamp Set, stamped in Bermuda Bay and punched out with the Banner Punch go across the top of the tag and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I love the negative “xoxo”, it looks neat with the Designer Series Paper showing through and I really can’t get enough of the red and blue together! Paper Craft Crew 79

Hello my friends! Justin here from Alaska… oh wait, I live in New York, it just feels like I live in Alaska! LOL! We got some more snow last night about two inches and it’s raining now. I know you must be sick of hearing about the nasty winter that we are having here and I can tell you that I can’t wait to start talking about driving around with the top down in the car again!! Come on Spring, you can do it! Get here fast!! I wish that the flights to Florida were cheaper for this weekend, I would be on my way down there! 🙂

It being Wednesday and all means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This week we have the following for you…

I do love some flags! I think I was really wanting spring when I made this card, the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog has a nice spring feel to it! My card starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of Sahara Sand. A strip of Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper goes across the middle and also is used for one of the flags. My other flag is a piece of Pistachio Pudding that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (also from Sale-A-Bration!) For my greeting is used the See Ya Later Stamp Set (yup, Sale-A-Bration!) stamped in Pool Party and cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. The owl Builder Punch is used to punch out the heart from some Crisp Cantaloupe, perfect fit for the stamp! My three flowers are stamped in Summer Starfruit and are from the Best of Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set, they go perfectly with the DSP! Finally, two Subtles Candy Dots complete the card. I really do love the colors in the Sweet Sorbet DSP and I thought that it was really cool the way the tower goes so well with it! Mojo 331

Oh, I think I forget to tell you it was snowing yesterday morning when I got up. The best part, it snowed all day. We got about eight inches and we are supposed to get some more tomorrow night and then again over the weekend. I guess the winter isn’t finished just yet. Yesterday’s snow was the heavy wet kind, if I have to deal with snow I would rather the powdery kind. I have so much experience with it this year! Who knew there were so many choices?! LOL! I will say one thing for snow, we did get out of work early again today! You know it’s bad when I would rather be at work than deal with the snow! Here is a little picture I took last night, that’s a lot of snow!

Now on to the fun stuff! Today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. This week our sketch is provided by Julee Tilman…

When I saw the sketch I saw the opportunity for a little collage style! The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. For the first layer of the background I used a piece of Real Red. My banner is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack that I cut out with the Banners Framelits Dies. I also cut out a piece of Whisper White to back it with so it would be a little sturdier when I adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I slid a piece of Red Glimmer Paper behind it on an angle. My piece of Crumb Cake is stamped with one of the Paper Pumpkin stamps in Crumb Cake and then I rounded the corners with the 3/16″ Corner Rounder. My greeting is from the Just Sayin’ Stamp Set and is stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits Dies. Another piece of Red Glimmer Paper is cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. My two little speech bubbles are from last month’s Paper Pumpkin and are stamped in Real Red and Coastal Cabana and cut out with my Paper Snips. Are you impressed that I remembered to use Coastal Cabana?! LOL! I really like the subtle collage and the colors, well we know I’m liking those! Paper Players 181

So, the Superbowl was great huh?! Ok, I’ll admit the only thing that I watched was the half-time show. I thought that it was a pretty good show, Bruno Mars sounds good live and appearance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers was neat if not a bit odd. There was plenty of food and friends to keep me occupied. My friend Michelle brought over fresh strawberries with caramel, chocolate ganachè, peanut butter and cream cheese dip for them. They were delicious and I had a hard time picking a favorite, so I sampled them a few times! LOL! I also had a nice day in Manhattan, I visited some people in the morning and then met my friend Kim for some lunch. We ate fresh, I had my usual BMT, I haven’t had it in a long time and it was yummy! I then stopped by my friend Julia’s house and her little girl Cecily gave me a card that she made for me. It’s so cute! I think we have a future crafter on our hands!

I even got some pictures for you. I was walking down the famous Park Avenue and snapped these. The first one is facing downtown and the second one is facing uptown.

My post today is for this week’s Paper Players, but before I get to that I wanted to thank LeAnne for choosing my card for her Cut Above in last week’s challenge. You can see my original post HERE and the Paper Players winners post HERE. Now for this week the lovely Anne Marie has given us this theme challenge…

As I was siting there pondering what I was going to do I spied a Vintage set of Framelits and that’s where the idea for this card began. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped my sentiment on a piece of Coastal Cabana from the Countless Sayings 2 Photopolymer Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. On the bottom part I embossed a piece of Baked Brown Sugar with the Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My lollipops are form the Sweets for the Sweet Stamp Set and are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. I used bamboo skewers for the sticks and adhered them to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. A piece of Window Sheet stamped with the “Vintage” Perfectly Preserved Stamp Set in Opaque White Staz-On and cut out with the “Vintage” Cannery Framelits Dies is adhered to the skewers with more Multi-Purpose Glue. To cover up the glue I cut out a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper with the heart from the Circle Card Thinlits Dies and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I love the Window Sheet stamped with the Opaque White Staz-On, it really does look like glass and the Champagne Glimmer Heart give the card just a little bit of sparkle! Freshly Made Sketches 121

Well, that was a very relaxing Saturday and after my fun week at work I needed it! I spent some time in the morning at the craft desk and got a few projects done. I went out for a bit and ran some errands, I even watched a movie! It definitely was a much needed relaxing day! This morning I’m off to Manhattan for a bit and then later on I’m going over to Brian & Kim’s for a Superbowl party. Will you be attending any parties later on? I won’t lie, I’m in for the commercials and food! LOL!

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch this week is provided by Linda…

A super clean sketch, I was a little stumped when I first saw it but I let it sit in my brain for a bit and this is what I came up with. The base of my card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Epic Day This & That Designer Series Paper. The larger hexagon is also This & That and is cut out with my Paper Snips. I used the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set and some Daffodil Delight to stamp the image on top of the large hexagon and the Hexagon Punch to punch it out. My greeting is from the Hip Hip Hooray Card Kit and is stamped in Calypso Coral and cut out with the Squares Collection Framelits. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the greeting and the hexagon to the card. A sprinkling of grey iridescent sequins finishes off the card. I really am glad that I went digging around in my craft supplies, I had completely forgotten about the Epic Day Designer Series Paper! Catherine & Cathy Create 22

Hello my peeps! Are you as happy that week is over as I am?! Work was actually pretty good yesterday, the job fair went as planned and I even got out an hour early. I met up with Anthony, Danielle and Bill for dinner, yes, we went to Friday’s again. Danielle and I needed more of that Tennessee Whiskey Cake! LOL! It really was that good! We stopped at Target after dinner and I came home and made my card for today. So all in all a pretty good day.

I’m over on the Catherine & Cathy Create blog today for this month’s Hearts a Flutter challenge. We ask that you make a project that has a love theme.

I decided to go with a French theme for my card. The base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. For the background, I stamped the En Français Background Stamp in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla. I cut out three Vellum hearts with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies and spritzed them with my concoction of Bermuda Bay Re-Inker and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint. After it had dried a little I rubbed my finger across it to give it little bit of a vintage look. The hearts are adhered to the card with Vellum Adhesive. The stamped image is from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Suede, and cut out with my Paper Snips. A piece of Cherry Cobbler is cut out with the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits Dies and adhered to the card with 2-Way Glue. Three hearts punched out from Brushed Gold Card Stock with the Small Heart Punch complete the card. I really love the Vellum spritzed with the Bermuda Shimmer mix and yes there are those blue and reds that I can’t see to get away from lately! LOL! Mojo 330 & Guest Card Maker

Ahh… Thursday, one more day to go! Don’t you just love the countdown to the weekend?! I know I do! Most of the snow that we got yesterday morning has blown away, it was nice and windy and cold here again. Work you ask, well it was crazy busy again! I did have a fun evening though. Danielle came over and we went to Friday’s for dinner. We even had some desert, the Tennessee Whiskey Cake and it was mind blowing-ly amazing! After dinner We came back to the house and Danielle sat at the craft desk and made her very first card. It’s a Valentine’s Day card for her boyfriend Derek. I think that she did a fantastic job! I love the colors and there is just enough grey to make it masculine but a good bit of love too! Here it is…

She colored the love in to make it look a little chalky and the Designer Series Paper is the “Vintage” More Amore from last year’s Occasions Catalog. I love the Smoky Slate with the paper, too bad we didn’t have that color last year! 🙂

A fun tall & skinny card! My card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. A piece of Strawberry Slush and a piece of Gold Designer Vellum with some Gold Sequin Trim create the background. Next up is a piece of Blushing Bride that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Sale-A-Bration. I stamped the Flowerful Heart in Strawberry Slush and cut it out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. A piece of Coastal Cabana is cut out with them too and paper-pierced using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack. My greeting is form the “Vintage” Perfectly You Host(ess) Stamp Set form the 2013 Holiday Catalog and is cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. I backed it with a piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I cut out with the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it all to the card. Paper Craft Crew 78

Yeah, Wednesday! Halfway through! I know, I keep wishing my weeks away in flavor of the weekend. But I really do enjoy my weekends! It’s nice and crisp here and I woke to about another inch of snow. No more complaining, just patiently waiting for winter to finish. Work yesterday was really busy, we have a job fair on Friday and when is the best time to start doing everything of it you might ask… well that would be three days prior. Sadly that’s actually a lot of notice for my place. On a happy note my friend Danielle is coming over tonight and we are going to have some diner and she is going to make her boyfriend a Valentine’s card! It will be her first one! If she lets me I’ll share it with you tomorrow! 🙂

I stayed pretty true to the layout but I also changed things up a bit. The base of my card is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock and the background is a piece of Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper. I cut out a piece of So Saffron with the Chalk Talk Framelits Dies and I used the Peachy Keen Stamp Set to stamp the squares in So Saffron. The tag looked a little naked without it! My little shoes and brand new are from the Baby, We’ve Grown Stamp Set, the shoes are stamped in Coastal Cabana and cut out with my Paper Snips and the brand new in Tangerine Tango and cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies. I flagged both ends of a piece of Coastal Cabana and stamped the greeting from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar. Stampin’ Dimensionals help give it a little oomph! So there is my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch. Freshly Made Sketches 120

It’s my favorite day as you well know! It’s FRIDAY! Wee! The past two weeks have not been full work weeks but them seem longer for some reason. I hope that the weekend goes just as slowly! I have a party to go to tomorrow night and it’s supposed to snow again. I’m sure that you are sick of hearing about my hatred of snow, but I really do not like it! LOL! Sunday I think will be a relaxing day, maybe even a movie! What’s on for the weekend for you?!

The card that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and Rita has given us this…

I had a few different versions of my card before I actually decided to glue it all together! My card base is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The piece that I used is quite different from the rest of the prints, love that! I created my banner by using two sizes from the Banners Framelits Dies to cut out some Basic Black and adhered it to the background with 2-Way Glue. My greeting is from the You’re Lovely Stamp Set** from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog, just four more days until you can get some goodies for yourself! I used Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder to heat emboss the image on Basic Black. The Deco Labels Framelits Dies are used to cut it out and also for the piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I backed it with. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere both to each other and the card. I’m liking the black embossed with the gold and the DSP is a really neat pattern! Mojo 329

Good day, peeps! Now that we have Monday under our belts we can get on with the rest of the week. My day was pretty average. Work was work, came home, crafted, hung out with Andrew, ran some errands, done! Fabulous news on the weather tonight! Six to twelve inches of snow on the way starting tomorrow at noon. YAY!… NOT. What’s going on in your neck of the woods? If it’s warm where you are, do you have a spare room? LOL!

My inspiration for today’s card comes from this week’s Mojo Monday sketch and it’s a nice, simple sketch from Teresa Kline…

I used the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper as a starting point for my colors. The card base is Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock. A strip of the Retro Fresh DSP goes across the middle with a strip of Coastal Cabana on top of that and tucked underneath is a piece of Tangerine Tango that I cut with the Fringe Scissors. Some Gold Foil Sheet is cut out with the Starburst Collection Framelits Dies and I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and my Paper-Piercing tool to pierce the circle. My greeting comes from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set and is stamped in Tangerine Tango; that is also cut out with the Starburst Framelits. Definitely a simple card but I love the color combination from the DSP. And the Gold Foil Sheet looks really cool when it’s paper-pierced.
