Paper Players 233

That was a long Sunday! It was snowing huge flakes in the morning. I got to the train and it was 15 minutes late and it felt like I waited forever for a subway, 20 minutes to be exact! I got off the subway at 63rd and Lexington and stopped at Starbucks to get a coffee. I spent a nice long morning with my friend Isabella. I love seeing her, she is such a great person and so much fun to spend time with. After that I went to see my friends Julia and Ramsay! Always fun to see them and their two girls. I headed back to Penn Station around 6:15 and got the 6:51 to Hicksville. Dad picked me up and I finished my laundry and had some dinner. When I came home I sat down and made my card for today. I did snap a picture of my parent’s backyard in the morning, you can see how huge the snowflakes are!

Mom & Dads Snow

They were more like snowballs! LOL! It did get sunny in the afternoon and it wasn’t too cold. All in all a very nice way to spend a Sunday! I hope that your weekend was as good as mine!

Now on to my card for today, it’s for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from my clever friend Sandy…

Paper Players #233

I just had to dig out an old favorite of mine for this card! The base for today’s card is Night of Navy Card Stock. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out the front and drew around it with my Gold Gelly Pen before I removed the Framelit. The greeting is from the Hello Life Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I used one size larger of the Circles Collection Framelits to cut it out and then a little 2-Way Glue adheres it to the back of the front panel. The image on the banner is from the same set and is also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with one of the elements from the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits. My feather is from the “Vintage” Four Feathers Stamp Set and again is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Feathers Framelits. Some 2-Way glue adheres the banner and feather to the card. A little Hemptique Natural Hemp Twine tied in a bow and adhered with a Glue Dot completes the card. Oh how I have missed my feathers! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge from Sandy! Thanks so much for taking some time to stop by and catch up! Have a marvelous Monday everyone! 🙂

Control Freaks February Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Hello there and welcome to this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! I’m always happy to have you along! The theme for this month’s tour is Sale-A-Brate! We are featuring products from the 2015 Sale-A-Bration Catalog. You can get one of these products for FREE with every $50 you spend now through March 31st! If you are following along with the tour then you have arrived here from the very clever Heidi Baks blog, she had some great projects didn’t she?! I have three cards for you this time around so lets get right to them!

For my first card I made a simple thank you using some colors that are very popular at the moment! The base for the card is Crushed Curry Card Stock. For my background I used a piece of Basic Gray and heat embossed the sentiment from the Simply Wonderful Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The lightbulb image and the “You Brighten My Day” sentiment are from the You Brighten My Day Stamp Set, I heat embossed the light bulb in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum Card Stock and then used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut it and some Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight and So Saffron out. My Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers are used to color in the back of the light bulb. The light bulb is then adhered to the Crushed Curry circle with 2-Way Glue and the rest of the circles are adhered to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A fun cheery thank you for someone that did something nice for you don’t you think?!

Control Freaks February Blog Tour Card 1-WM

My next card uses the beautiful Lotus Blossom Photopolymer Stamp Set. The base for this card is Sahara Sand Card Stock and the background is a piece of the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. I used the Circles Collection Framelits and some Whisper White to make my tag. My Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker and the “Vintage” Color Spritzer create the base for my stamping. I stamped the stem from the Lotus Blossom Photopolymer Stamp Set in Old Olive and the flower in Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral. The flower is cut out with my Paper Snips and adhered to the tag with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of Crisp Cantaloupe is cut out with the Hello You Thinlits and adhered to the tag with 2-Way Glue. Some Crisp Cantaloupe Thick Baker’s Twine is tied through the tag and it’s adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Isn’t that lotus blossom gorgeous, the three step stamping gives it some really nice depth and it’s so easy to do to!

Control Freaks February Blog Tour Card 2-WM

For my final card I used some of the new Chalk Ink with a stamp set that is just made for it! The base for this card is Soft Sky Card Stock. Down the left side is a piece of the Stacked with Love Designer Washi Tape and down the right is a piece of paper from the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper Pack. The raised panel is a piece of Coastal Cabana adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the tag I used a piece of the Chalkboard Paper and my Scalloped Tag Topper Punch along with the Project Life Corner Rounder. The images are from the Big Day Stamp Set and are stamped in Yellow Citrus and Aquamarine ColorBox Chalk Ink. A piece of ribbon from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack is tied through the top and the tag is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few of the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins adhered to the card with Crystal Effect give it a little sparkle and finish it off nicely. I love the look of the chalk ink on the Chalkboard Paper, it really does look just like the real thing!

Freshly Made Sketches 174

It was actually warm here yesterday, well, warm is a relative term, it was 34 degrees! Which feels somewhat like a heat wave compared to -10. Tomorrow it’s supposed to go down to -15 that’s without the wind chill! Now that’s cold for NY! I may need to be chiseled off of the sidewalk at some point! Yesterday was a pretty good day at work, I had lunch with my friend Robin and it was my friend Christina’s birthday so there were some Red Velvet cupcakes to be had! I definitely ate too much! When I got to my parents Daniel was there! He was running around like always and wanting to be everywhere that he shouldn’t be! He is still the cutest! When I came home I went straight into the Stampin’ Galley, I had quite a few projects to get done, I forgot there is a Control Freaks Blog Tour this evening so I had to get those cards done! Be sure to check back here around 9:00pm to take the tour! And let’s not forget that tomorrow is Friday, freezing Friday as it will be know this week!

The first card that I made last night is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I want to thank Narelle for choosing my card as her pick for last week’s challenge! Now here is this week’s sketch…

Freshly Made Sketches 174

Loads of possibilities! I stayed very true to the sketch and had fun with it! The base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock. My diagonal strip is a piece of paper from the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack backed with a piece of Night of Navy. My ballon is cut out with the Balloon Framelits, once from a piece of Bermuda Bay and again from a piece of Vellum Card Stock. I used the stamps from the Celebrate Today Photopolymer Stamp Set to heat emboss the confetti on the Bermuda Bay balloon in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the Happy Birthday on the Vellum one in Calypso Coral Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some 2-Way Glue holds the balloons together and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The bow is a piece of Gold Foil Sheet and is also cut out with the Balloon Framelits and adhered with some more 2-Way Glue. A piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine is adhered in a few spots with Crystal Effect to give it the fun curves. To finish off the card I adhered some sequins from Doodlebug and Pretty Pink Posh with Crystal Effects randomly on the top half of the card. I love the colors and the fun Designer Series Paper, so bright and cheery, perfect for a birthday! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a very good Thursday! 🙂

We had a some snow this morning, about 5 inches! And it was that powdery fluffy snow so the roads were a treat on the way to work. Someone spun out in front of me and then sat there for about 5 minutes composing themselves and then our top speed was 5 MPH. I can’t get up the hill at 5  MPH, I need a little momentum! LOL! The convertible is not a fan of the winter, I think that it likes it less than I do! However, around 12:00 the sun came out and it was actually not bone chillingly cold! That will be short lived though as we are supposed to have the coldest day of the year on Friday. I think I will stay in that whole day! When I came home last night there was a little package from England for me from a company called Clearly Besotted. They are small stamp company and I fell in love with one of their sets and had to have it! I’ll post a card in the near future so you can see what I mean. Last night I played around in the Stampin’ Galley and skyped with my buddy Eva. All in all a pretty good day!

It’s Wednesday and you know that means that I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for our sketch challenge…

PCCCS132 DT Sketch 2-18-2015

I kept pretty close to the sketch and came up with a very simple yet elegant card! For the base I used a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and covered the entire front with a piece of Brushed Gold Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper Pack. I adhered a piece of Gold 1/8″ Ribbon behind the paper and then used a fork to tie my bow. A Glue Dot holds the bow in place. My greeting is from the Hello There Host Stamp Set. I heat embossed it in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut it out with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits. Before I removed the label from my cutting platform I used a Gold Gelly Roll Pen to outline the die cut with the Framelit. I adhered a doily from the Artisan Embellishment Kit to the card behind the label which is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Up in the right hand corner are three flowers from the same set. They are stamped in Gold Encore Metallic Ink on Sahara Sand and then heat embossed with Simon Says Stamp Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder. A quick punch with the “Vintage” Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and a few Basic Jewels Pearls before they are adhered with Glue Dots. Three more pearls along the bottom of the label and the card is complete! I love the DSP, nice and subtle, especially with the gold! I hope that you too like my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Head on over to the blog and take a look at my teammates projects and enter yours in the gallery! Thank you for coming by today, I hope that you all have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

Paper Players 232

Another weekend done. It was a good one though. I didn’t end up going into Manhattan yesterday. The trains were all running late and I was worried that because of the wind they might shut down the bridge. I will go in one night this week or next weekend. Speaking of wind it was really windy all day and incredibly cold! They said that tonight’s temperature with the wind chill will be around -20! Now that is cold! Oh Florida! LOL! So instead of heading into the city I picked up Heather and we went over to have some breakfast with Kim and the girls. Heather bought some champagne so we had mimosas. For eats we had whole wheat chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, bacon and raspberry crumble bars. I dropped Heather back off at her house around 1:00 and then came home for a bit before I headed over to see Renee at Scrap-A-Latte. Her son Nicholas was there, he’s a really nice guy. He goes to school in Boston where they have about 80 inches of snow! Again, no thanks! I told him south, you need to head south! LOL! I was there for a few hours and then come home and had dinner with the ‘rents and then crafted for a bit. Not a bad day at all!

And since today is Monday that means that it’s Paper Players time! Before I get to this week’s challenge I want to thank Joanne for choosing me as her pick for last week’s color challenge. And as luck would have it Joanne is the challenge host this week…

Paper Players #232

Ahh, a bird! I do love a bird! The card for today uses Whisper White Card Stock for the base. A piece of the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Basic Black is the background. My panel is a piece of Coastal Cabana, embossed with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with Whisper White. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. All of the images and greeting are from the Hello Love Host Stamp Set. The bird and greeting are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, the greeting is cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits. I used my Soft Sky Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color in the bird and then cut it out with my Paper Snips. The sun is heat embossed in Crushed Curry on Crushed Curry and also cut out with my Paper Snips. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them all to the panel. Another nice and cheery card to help chase away the Winter as quickly as possible! I hope that you like my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Thanks so much for coming by to check in with me! Have a marvelous Monday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 131

Happy Wednesday everyone! It was a little bit nicer around here weather wise yesterday, a tiny bit warmer which was appreciated! Nancy was back from LA and she gave me a video of Sam getting his first Grammy from where she was sitting. So cool to see it from another angle! Yesterday was another quiet night. Taylor came by and I made a few cards. I also made sure that I would have a little time to just sit and relax for a bit. See, I’m making an effort to do that more! Tomorrow I have a bunch of meetings at work, not my favorite way to spend the day. Oh well, soon it will be Friday! 🙂

We all know what Wednesday means… I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch…

PCCCS131 DT Sketch 2-11-2015

I went with a simple, subtle card. Yes, it could be a Valentine but it doesn’t have to be! LOL! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Sahara Sand that covers the entire front. On top of that is a piece of Very Vanilla, I used the “Vintage” Stampin’ Spritzer and my Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker to get my spatter. A piece of Sahara Sand 7/8″ Lace Trim is adhered around the back and the panel is then adhered to the card with Fast Fuse. I heat embossed a piece of Vellum with the Something Lacy Background Stamp and some Blushing Bride Stampin’ Emboss Powder. One of the Labels Collection Framelits cuts it out and some Multi-Purpose glue adheres it to the lace. My greeting is from the Crazy About You Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Blushing Bride on a piece of Sahara Sand. I used the Itty Bitty Accents Punch pack and the Simon Says Stamp You Die to cut out some Blushing Bride. I used the same technique as I did the other day to heat embossed them multiple times with Simon Says Stamp Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder. The heart is adhered with a Glue Dot and the you with some Multi-Purpose Glue to the greeting which is then adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do love the way the clear embossing give the die cuts an epoxy look all nice and shiny! I hope that you liked my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Stop by the blog to see what the other designers have done with the sketch and enter yours in the gallery! Thank you so much for coming by to see me today! Have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 116

So remember yesterday when I said that it was raining, well I was wrong, it was freezing rain! I had to let my car warm up for 20 minutes before I could chisel the ice off of the windows and then skate to work! Who wants to find me a job somewhere warm? I really am over this whole Winter thing. I’m not meant to be cold! LOL! Yesterday was pretty uneventful. I came home after work and had dinner and then puttered around in the Stampin’ Galley for bit and then I decided that I would relax for a while. I really do need to do nothing more often. It was nice to just be for a little bit last night.

Before we get to today’s post here are the weekly deals for this week:

Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our shaped cards challenge. I don’t really ever make a shaped card, I don’t know why either, it was fun! I went with a heart shape, you know… for Valentine’s! I also haven’t made a shaker in a while. The base of my card is Real Red Card Stock. I used the Hearts Collection Framelits to cut out all of the hearts. The card itself is two hearts that I scored the top left on the back one and used some Fast Fuse to adhere them together. For the shaker part I cut out the background from a piece of the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack. The front is two that I taped together and cut out from a piece of Basic Black. I also cut out a piece of Fun Foam instead of using foam tape or Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of Window Sheet is also cut out and some sequins are sprinkled inside and the shaker assembled with Multi-Purpose Glue. The greeting is from the Snuggles and Smooches Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Vellum and cut out with my Paper Snips. Using the Fun Foam for the shaker was great, I got the idea from Jennifer McGuire. I was missing the shaker cards and hope that you were too! So there is my shaped card for the SUO Challenges blog. Click HERE to stop by the blog and see what the rest of the Design Team have made and enter one of your projects in the gallery. Thank you for visiting today! I hope that you all have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

Can You Case It 56

This is my second post for today! If you are looking for the Creation Station Tour post scroll down a bit!

CYCI Header

Hi there! Yes, this is post number 2 for today! My friend Eva asked me to be a guest designer on her challenge blog and I couldn’t say no! More on that in a minute. So yesterday I drove into Manhattan and parked in the garage, between the snow and construction there were no spaces to be had on the street! My friend Kim and I went and had breakfast at the diner, I had a Belgian waffle and some bacon, and then I walked down to my friend Isabella’s to drop off her Stampin’ Up! order. She wasn’t there so I left it in the entryway and then walked back up to my car. A nice walk, 60 blocks! It was a little bleak and overcast but I did take this picture of 69th Street on my way back…

69th Street

They did a better job of getting rid of the snow here than they did further uptown! I stopped at Starbucks and got a Venti soy no foam Vanilla Latte (my signature drink!) for the ride home which wasn’t too bad. I also snapped this picture of the bridge as I came across it, not too much traffic!

RFK Bridge

See how cloudy it was, not a very nice day and it was actually snowing at this point and continued to do so for a few hours. My friend Sue came by and picked me up for lunch and we headed over to the diner out here. I had a Greek panini which was sort of like a gyro and was pretty good. We stopped at AC Moore and then came back to my place for a while. It was so good to catch up with her and we will see each other again soon! I watched a few YouTube videos and then went overt to see Brian and Kim for a while. When I got back home I realized that I had forgotten to make my projects for the Creation Station Tour so I did those, wrote the post and finally got to bed around 2:00! A long but really great day!

Now back to the reason for today’s second post! This week’s challenge over at the Can You Case It blog is a color one just perfect for… well… Valentines!

CYCI 56

They are very forgiving at the blog too, you can use any product that you want and also like colors if you don’t have exact! I had the idea in my head for the card as soon as Eva asked me guest design, I just had to wait for a few supplies! As I have been doing a lot lately the card base is just a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. My background is a piece of Basic Black that I heat embossed the Something Lacy Background Stamp in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on. For the greeting I used the new Hello You and the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits to cut out some Real Red. I then heat embossed it with Simon Says Stamp Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder a few times. I heated the powder and then immediately put it back in the embossing powder and repeated the process a few times. They are adhered with 2-Way Glue to a heart that is cut from Vellum with the Hearts Collection Framelits. I used Clear Foam Tape to adhere the heart to the card and a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear and Red Sequins complete the card. I absolutely love the way the heat embossed words came out, they look like red shoelace licorice! I really hope that you enjoyed my second post and third card for today! Make sure that you stop by the Can You Case It blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have done with the colors and if you have some time make something and upload it to the gallery! Thank you so much for stopping by to hear about my day and see my card! I hope that you all have an incredible Sunday! 🙂

Paper Players 230 & Leadership Pics!

And my vacation is officially over, it’s back to work. I had a great week in Florida so I guess I can’t complain. I spent the day yesterday catching up on emails and big comments, oh, and laundry, lots of laundry! I also got to spend some time in the Stampin’ Galley, boy did I miss that! It snowed here last night and is raining this morning, joy! Thanks to Germaine’s Paper Pumpkin workshop I did get to craft a little while I was away. I have some more pictures from Leadership that I will be sharing over the next couple of days. I love meeting everyone and getting to see my peeps from the home office. Here are a few of the lovely people that I got to see while in Orlando!

Here I am with Maggie, Nicole and Candy…

So much fun! Now on to today’s card. Monday means that it’s Paper Players time and this week we have an interesting theme challenge from Claire…

Paper Players #230

A Valentine for our furry friends! I couldn’t find any Stampin’ Up! sets that had a dog in them so I had to use a set from Simon Says Stamp. My base for today’s card is Naturals White Card Stock. I created my background using a piece of Watercolor Paper and some Gelatos mixed with water. The dog is from the Simon Says Stamp You Are Pawsome Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped him in Soft Suede used Soft Suede and Real Red to watercolor him. Some Black and Gold Gel Pens are used for his eyes, nose and name tag. He is cut out with the coordinating dies. The greeting is cut out from a piece of Watercolor Paper and some Real Red using the Simon Says Stamp Pawsome die, they are glued together and then adhered to the card. My balloon is from the Celebrate Today Photopolymer Stamp Set, I used my Real Red Stampin’ Write Markers to ink up the edges and then watercolored the image. The coordinating Ballon Framelits cut out the ballon and the bow from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. Some black hemp twine is used for the string and the ballon and dog are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the look of watercolored images and especially like the effect of the Gelatos on the background! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge, I had fun making it! Thank you so much for taking some time to visit with me today! I wish us all a very good Monday! 🙂

Blackberry Night Watercolor Adventure

Hi there! Yesterday was another fun filled day with Maggie! We went over to Downtown Disney and picked up a few gifts in the morning and grabbed some Starbucks. Then we spent a little time wandering around the place. Around 1:30 we went over to Planet Hollywood for some lunch. The ceiling in the restaurant is so cool!

After we finished at Disney we headed over to the Outlets on International Drive and had ourselves a nice little walk around. I got a really cool Fossil watch and some pants and Maggie picked herself up a new coach bag and watch. We came to the Rosen Plaza and checked in and met up with Jacki again to head over to Friday’s for some dinner. After, I headed over to the airport to drop off the rental car and meet Brian! We took the shuttle back to the hotel and saw Maggie and Jacki for a bit before calling it a day. Here is a little picture of Maggie and I from yesterday!

I did a few watercolor backgrounds recently and will be posting some of the cards that I made using them over the next few days. Today’s one uses Blackberry Bliss and Night of Navy on Watercolor Paper for the background. I mounted it to a Sahara Sand card base. The stamp is from the Adventure Awaits Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum Card Stock and cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. I used some carefully placed 2-Way glue to adhere it to the background. A few Simon Says Stamp Sparkle and Shine Sequins are adhered on the top half with Crystal Effects. If you look closely you can see the darker spots on the background and I think they give it an almost watery depth. I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and as always I thank you for coming by to share in my little adventures. Have a great Thursday peeps! 🙂
