Fab Friday 55

Yay! It’s Friday and next week is a short week! Yesterday was a little warmer and not as windy and even though it’s going to rain on Monday I’m looking forward to temps in the 60’s! Work was the norm yesterday and when I got home little Daniel was there for dinner. He just runs all over the place now, so cute. I went over to Heather’s last night for a little wine night with Stephanie and Andrew, that was fun! I’ll be in Manhattan on Sunday and I’m going to try an attempt to get my house cleaned on Saturday. What’s on for the weekend for you?

What makes Friday even better? It’s time for another Fab Friday challenge and this time around we have a sketch…

Fab Fri 55 11-21-2014

I have been really into the blues again for my Holiday cards and I also stayed pretty true to the sketch. My card base is Island Indigo Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Brushed Silver Metallic Card Stock with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered it towards the top of the base. A piece of Pool Party 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon is adhered around the back across the bottom of the Silver with Sticky Strip. My snowflake is from the “Vintage” Festive Flurry Stamp Set and is heat embossed on Vellum in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Festive Flurry Framelits. In the middle is a Silver Basic Metal Button with some “Vintage” Pool Party Baker’s Twine tied in a bow. I adhered the button to the snowflake with a Glue Dot and the snowflake to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. My greeting is from the Watercolor Winter Too Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with one of the dies from the Circle Card Thinlits. Some more Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that in place. A nice simple card, again not too difficult to duplicate. I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday sketch challenge. Don’t forget to pay a little visit to the blog and see what the rest of the Design Team has done with the sketch and take a minute to enter your card too! Thanks you for coming by to visit with me and I wish you all a Fantastic Friday! 🙂

Control Freaks November Blog Tour

freakwelcome2013

Hello my friends! It was chilly here again today but get this, it’s supposed to go up to 69 degrees on Monday! Even stranger, they have gotten 6-8 feet of snow in upstate NY! Thank god that wasn’t here! Phew! Well, guess what?! It’s time for this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! We are featuring Christmas/Holiday projects to get you all inspired to make you Holiday cards and decorations! If you are following along with the tour you have arrived here from the very talented Debbie Henderson! She is just so clever, right?! This month I have two cards for you, one simple and one a little more complicated but nice and sparkly!

For my first card I have a nice simple card that I dressed up with some heat embossing. The card base is Early Espresso Card Stock. My center panel is Crumb Cake and I used the Tree Punch to punch out two negatives from the lower half. Another tree is punched out from a piece of Garden Green and I heat embossed the ornaments from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My greeting is from the Watercolor Winter Trio Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The star image is also from the Festival of Trees Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I adhered a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack to the base before adhering the Crumb Cake Panel over it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The punched out tree is also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A nice fun rustic feeling card that would be pretty easy to duplicate.

Control Freaks November Blog Tour - Card 2-WM

My second card has lots of sparkle! The base for this one is Smoky Slate Card Stock and my background is a piece of Lost Lagoon. I punched out a bunch of circles with the 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1 1/4″ and 1 3/4″ Circle Punches from Vellum Card Stock. Using some strategically placed Multi-Purpose Glue I adhered them to the base randomly. I then adhered some Frosted Sequins to cover the glue behind the Vellum with Crystal Effects. My Joy is from the Wondrous Wreath Framelits and is cut out from a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper. I used little slivers of Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to the card. I was going for a bit of a Bokeh look, you’ll have to let me know what you think! Was I successful?!

Control Freaks November Blog Tour - Card 1-WM

And there are my two Holiday cards for this month’s Control Freaks Blog Tour! I hope that you enjoyed them both and are inspired to either finish (way better than me!) or start (that’s more like it) your Holiday cards! Now it’s time to continue on with the tour and next up is the incredibly clever Patty Bennett! You’ll love what she has for you, I always do! Thank you for stopping by and I hope that you have a great Thursday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 110

Just as I suspected my inbox was full yesterday morning at work. I did manage to get through it though so we are ready for another fun filled day today! It was rainy and gloomy here all day today, sort of like my mood as of late. I was reading through the comments yesterday and I want to thank you all. Yes, I love to share my creativity with you but I also share a lot about my life and that is one of the most important parts of this blog to me. The connection that I have with so many of you. You are there with words of encouragement and support and that means so much to me. We have shared a lot with each other and I look forward to it each day as I hope that you continue to as well. That being said I am hoping that what is affecting me will work itself out. I have to have faith that it will, that’s enough of the somberness for now. I do have a fun little bit of information to share, I have over 40,000 followers on Pinterst! WHAT?! I still can’t believe it. So if you don’t follow me head on over and do. It’s jrk912. 🙂

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Marker Fun challenge. I wanted to do something other than color with them so this is what I came up with. The base for today’s card is a piece of Elegant Eggplant Card Stock. I cut a piece of Watercolor Paper to 4″ x 5 1/4″ for my background. All of the images are from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set from the 2014 Holiday Supplement Catalog. The snowflakes are heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. To add the color to the background I took the second largest Clear Block E and used my Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Markers to color the block with stripes of alternating color. and a little spray of water from my Stampin’ Spritzer so they would absorb into the Watercolor Paper easier. I left the block on the table and pressed the Watercolor Paper into it, lifted it off and misted the block again and repeated the process. After I lifted it up the second time I was happy with the results. I stamped the greeting on Watercolor Paper too in Elegant Eggplant and Night of Navy and used the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits to cut it out. It’s adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and some Basic Jewels Rhinestones are adhered over the dots. I backed the paper with a piece of Night of Navy and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it up off the base. A few Frosted Sequins adhered to the centers of the snowflakes with Crystal Effects finish the card. I love the way the colors turned out on the Watercolor Paper, it almost gives a windy feel to it. I really hope that you enjoyed my card for the SUO Challenges Marker Fun challenge. Be sure and stop by the blog to see what the rest of the design team have done and enter your card in the gallery so we can see your take on the challenge. As always, I appreciate your visit and hope that you have a very nice Tuesday! 🙂

Traveler Miss You

Yesterday I had planned to be productive but that didn’t happen. I was sad yesterday for some reason, I spent most of the morning laying on the couch, that’s something I never do. My friend Kim called me and asked me what I was doing and told me that she could come and get me or I could shower and then go over to her. I opted to shower first! I spent the afternoon with Kim and Brian and then came home to make my card for today. Andrew called and said he was outside and had a few errands to run and would I like to go with him so I did. We ended up going back to Kim & Brian’s for dinner. Izzy took a liking to Andrew and used him as a jungle gym for a little while!

Andrew and Izzy

I say it all the time, I’m so lucky to have my friends. They are the most incredible people that you could ever hope to know. I needed to be around my peeps and like always they were there! Today is little Daniel’s 1st birthday party. Andrew has been informed by my sister-in-law Erika that he is singing! I’ll be sure and take pictures so you can join the party too!

The card that I have for you today is a relatively simple one, but the embossing paste gives it a little oomph! The card base is Cajun Craze Card Stock. For my background I took a piece of Night of Navy and a Tim Holtz Stencil called Gothic. I used some Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste and my palette knife to spend the embossing paste over the stencil and carefully peeled it off. I keep a shallow pan of water nearby to dunk the stencil into, the embossing paste dries pretty quickly and sticks to the stencil if you don’t keep it wet. After the embossing paste dried I Adhered a piece of 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon around the back of the panel and adhered it to the base with SNAIL. The suitcase image is from the Traveler Stamp Set and is stamped in Cajun Craze and cut out with my Paper Snips. For the greeting I used the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set, stamped the image in Cajun Craze and cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits. Before I took it off of the Magnetic Platform I ran my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Markers around the inside to give it a border. Finally a little Champagne Glimmer Paper heart punched out with the Owl Builder Punch goes over the o in “you”. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The stencil reminds me of our Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder but I love the texture from the Embossing Paste even more, it has a great look and feel to it. I’m off to catch up on comments and try to get out of my funk. I hope that you enjoyed today’s card. I really appreciate you coming by to see me and I hope that you all have a really good Saturday! 🙂

I’m still not used to the fact that it’s getting darker earlier. It also doesn’t help that it’s dark when I wake up too! The weather here has been pretty nice, not too cold and sunny, maybe we can keep this for the whole winter?! Work was pretty standard yesterday and when I got home I made my card and then planned my much needed cleanup of the craft area. I have been pretty busy and most of my organization has gone to the wayside. I need to get on top of it before I start forgetting that I have stuff! Do you ever find yourself doing that? You are out looking at stuff and think “oh, I really like that, I think I’ll get it” only to get home and find that you already have it?!?! I guess one good thing about that is if you bought it twice you must have really liked it! LOL!

Before we get to today’s post here are the weekly deals from Stampin’ Up!:

Weekly Deals 11-11-2014 SM

My card for today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch from Julee Tilman…

Mojo371

I wanted to use some of the stuff that I have gotten recently before I forget where I put it, that’s where the wood comes in! My card starts with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock and the background is a piece of Crumb Cake. I used a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack backed with some Early Espresso for my first panel. The second one is a piece of wood sheet that I picked up on my travels on Saturday, it’s also backed with Early Espresso because it’s very thin and it makes the grain stand out a bit more. Across the lower half is a piece of Gold 1/8″ Ribbon tucked behind the Crumb Cake. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Vellum and stamped the JOY from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it in Cherry Cobbler. The tree is from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Garden Green on Crumb Cake and punched out with the Tree Punch. The balls are heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler and I used a Sakura Gelly Roll Gold Pen to go over the lines. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the tree adhere it and the Vellum circle to the card. We all know that I love a little woodgrain so the wood sheet is definitely my favorite part of the card! The other great thing about them is that are thin enough to use with punches or Framelits! Ahhh… the possibilities! I hope that you enjoyed my Holiday card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I love having you stop by to share in my days and I wish you all a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 221

I had such nice weekend and it seemed like a long weekend too! Yesterday I was in Manhattan most of the day visiting friends. I even got to have dinner at the diner with Kim. It was a relatively nice day too weather wise. On my way home I stopped at Target to pick up a few things and then crafted for a bit before I decided that I needed to try and catch up on some of my sleep. How was your weekend? What were you guys up to?

It’s Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my friend Sandy has given us a color challenge…

Paper Players #221

I did see a Holiday card when I looked at them but my friend Danielle needs a congratulations card for her mom who just got a promotion at work so I went with some flowers. The card base for today’s card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I used the Hexagon Hive Thinlit to cut out a piece of Very Vanilla for my background and adhered it to the base with 2-Way Glue. All of the stamps are from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set. The flowers are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and the leaves in Mossy Meadow. I cut them all out with the Flower Fair Framelits including the flower middles. My leaves are adhered to the card with SNAIL and the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used some more 2-Way Glue to adhere the centers and brushed them with some Wink of Stella Glimmer Pen to give them a little sparkle (which you can’t see in the picture). The greeting is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler and cut out with the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. I used my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker around the edge to give it a little definition and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. A nice simple card to let someone know how great you think they are. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy. I appreciate your stopping by today and I wish you all a great start to your week! 🙂

Fab Friday 54

Oh yes, it’s Friday peeps!! It was a gloomy rainy day yesterday but it’s supposed to be nice, if not a little chilly for the weekend. I’m looking forward to this weekend! Tonight I have to run to New Jersey and tomorrow I’m going to another rubber stamp show in Connecticut with Michael and Sue. That should be fun, we’re going to stop at another Hobby Lobby too! Heather is going back to finalize the apartment tonight, she’s quite excited about that! Everything is set up to be a great weekend! What do you have planned?

Today I’m over on the Fab Friday blog for our color challenge…

Fab Fri 54 11-07-2014

I sort of had an idea as to what I was going to do, I knew that I wanted to watercolor, and that I wanted some woodgrain. The base of today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock, I adhered a piece of Watercolor Paper to the entire front. My background is a piece of Cajun Craze, I used a Tim Holtz stencil, Woodgrain, along with Embossing Paste to create it. All of the images are from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set and are all stamped on Watercolor Paper. The flowers are stamped in Blackberry Bliss, the leaves in Crushed Curry, the woodgrain flag in Cajun Craze and the greeting in Blackberry Bliss. I used a brush and some water to pull color from the stamped area into the rest of the image. They are all cut out with my Paper Snips, the leaves are adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue and everything else with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Banners Framelits to cut out the woodgrain flag and the greeting is punched out with the Label Bracket Punch. I edged the greeting with my Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker to give it a little definition. I love the texture of the embossing past woodgrain background and the stamp set is perfect for using this type of watercolor technique. I really hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday color challenge and will give the watercoloring a try. Make sure and stop by the BLOG to see what the other design team members have done and don’t forget to make something and upload it to the gallery for us to see. Thank you so much for visiting me today. Have an amazing Friday my friends! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 117

Here we are winding our way into Wednesday already. My week has been pretty good so far. Last night I went with Heather to look at an apartment. It had, as the realtor stated, a very unique bathroom. The toilet and sink were in one room and the shower was on the other side in another room. The only problem was that you had to walk through the kitchen to get to the shower! That’s not unique that just odd! After, we headed over to Brian and Kim’s for Taco night. Michael joined us and we played some Cards Against Humanity. Neither Heather nor Michael had played before and they really enjoyed the game! It’s always nice to just sit there and laugh with friends! What a nice way to end the day! 🙂

If it’s Wednesday then that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Here is your inspiration for this week…

PCCCS117 Sketch 11-05-2014

I was in the mood for some Bermuda Bay, I haven’t used that color in a long time and it’s one of my favorites! Today’s card begins with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Bermuda Bay that is embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The panel on the left is piece of paper from the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper pack backed with some Whisper White. Across the middle of the card is a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and a piece of Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon. My stars are from the Many Merry Stars Photopolymer Stamp Set from the Holiday Supplement Catalog, the larger one is stamped in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White and the smaller on is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Bermuda Bay. They are both cut out with the Stars Framelits Dies and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I choose the greeting from the Endless Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set and stamped it in Bermuda Bay on a piece of Whisper White, flagged the right, and tucked it under the right side of the panel. Three little crystal sequins adhered above the glimmer paper complete the card. I think that piece of DSP from the Motley Monsters DSP pack is my favorite, just goes to show that there is much more than just Halloween paper in there! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Don’t forget to stop by the blog and see what the other designers have for you for inspiration and let’s see your take, upload your card to the gallery. Thanks very much for taking a little time to come by and see me! Enjoy your Wednesday! 🙂

Paper Players 220

Happy Monday! I had a wonderful weekend! Saturday I went to Trenton, NJ for a rubber stamp show. It’s the first one that I have been to and it was pretty neat to see all of the different companies that I have never heard of before. I went with Michael and his best friend Sue and her sister Arlene. We met up with their friends Gail and Debbie and wandered around for a few hours. After that we went to Hobby Lobby. I don’t know if any of you have ever been to a Hobby Lobby but they pretty much have anything that you can think of and I mean anything. I picked up a few things that I have been eyeing for a while and even found some stuff that was on clearance that I wanted. We stopped at Red Robin for dinner and then headed home. Here are a few pictures, the first one is Michael and I and the next one is all of us.

Michale & I NJ

The Gang RSS NJ

Yesterday I was in Manhattan seeing some friends. Michael had to work at the Ink Pad so we drove in together. I went to see Penny and Joe over on the West Side for a bit. I had forgotten that the NYC Marathon was yesterday so when I finished up at their house I tried to get a cab to go back over to the East side. That took about 15 minutes! I did finally get over and stopped to see Jim and Isabella for a bit and then headed down to the Ink Pad to wait for Michael to get off of work. We took the subway back to his car in Astoria and stopped and picked up some Chinese for dinner on the way home. Taylor stopped by for a bit and and we just listened to some music and relaxed. All in all one of the best weekends I have had in a very long time! 🙂

Now on to today’s post. If it’s Monday then it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my friend LeAnne has given us a vintage challenge…

Paper Players #220

Since I have started stamping I have been given lots of things by my friends that they see when they are out from other companies besides Stampin’ Up! Last week I was playing with some of that stuff and came up with this card and I really love the way it turned out and it fit with the challenge so I decided I would share it with you. The card base is Neenah Solar White, I needed a thick base for my background. Speaking of the background it’s a piece of Watercolor Paper and I heat embossed the “Vintage” French Script Background Stamp in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Next I used a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water to wet the whole sheet of paper. Two more Stampin’ Spritzers, one filled with my Bermuda Bay, Champagne Shimmer Mist and alcohol concoction and the other with Early Espresso and alcohol are spritzed across the background. Some Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Distress Paint mixed with water is then added. The image and greeting are from a Tim Holtz set that has matching framelits called French Flight. I used more of the Distress Paint to stamp the Eiffel Tower and the “Paris” is stamped in Soft Suede on Kraft Craft Card Stock and sponged around the edges. A piece of burlap is spritzed with more Early Espresso and a piece of the Ideology Filmstrip Ribbon is stapled to the background with my Handheld Stapler. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the tower and word and a few mocha sequins scattered across the background complete the card. I had a lot of fun making the card for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge from LeAnne. I hope that you enjoyed it. As always, thank you for stopping by to share some of your time with me. Have a great Monday! 🙂

Creation Station – Seasonally Scattered

creation station header

It was a rainy and dreary day here yesterday and I was in Trenton, New Jersey for a rubber stamp show with some friends, more on that tomorrow. Today it’s time for another Creation Station Blog Tour! This time we are featuring the Seasonally Scattered Stamp Set and Gift Card Holders. If you are following along on the tour you have arrived here from Jennifer Frost’s Blog. Always a treat to see what she has! I have two projects for today’s tour, a card and a gift card holder so lets get to them.

My card features the Seasonally Scattered Stamp Set and two of my favorite things, Vellum and Heat Embossing! The base of the card is Pumpkin Pie Card Stock and my background is a piece of Old Olive that I embossed one of the stamps from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set in Crushed Curry Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch and some Vellum to create my three tags. My Grid Paper helps to line up the tags and image from the Seasonally Scattered Stamp Set. I stamped the two outside ones first and then the center one with Versa-Mark. The two outside ones are heat embossed in Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the inside one in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some strategically placed 2-Way Glue adheres them to the card. Love the vellum and the way it lets the swirl peek through form the back!

The gift card holder is next. I used the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlit to cut out a piece of Kraft Card Stock for the card and Mossy Meadow for the ties. A few pieces of Sticky Strip and the holder is assembled. The three tress are from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Mossy Meadow on Mossy Meadow. The garland is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My greeting is from the Christmas Tagables Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. A piece of Gold Sequin Trim is tucked under it and adhered to the holder with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I used a Mini Brad to secure the ties in place and some Linen Thread holds it closed. I love the rustic feel of the Kraft with the Mossy Meadow and the gold just gives it enough shine!
