SplitCoast Creative Crew March Challenges

Oh Monday, why must you arrive so soon?! Did you all have a good weekend? Mine was pretty good. I mentioned that I was going to the Chocolate Expo yesterday and I have to tell you I was not impressed. The place was way too small and there were far too many people and not nearly enough vendors. I think I will cross that off my list for next year! We did go to lunch after and that was fun, so not a total loss!

Today I have my cards for this month’s SplitCoast Creative Crew Challenges. The challenges are quite fun, I have a really good time making the cards for them. They also have a scrapbook page challenge, but I don’t do that one, I will one day! There are three cards in all so let’s get to the first one.

First up I have the card for the Holiday Focus and here is the challenge: Holiday Focus: Travel the road of words. Quote someone. Over the years Stampin’ Up! has quoted many people in their stamp. Use a wonderful quote as a focal point in your project. (You may use any quote that SU! has ever produced, even retired, but you must let us know the year of the stamp and the stampset name.)

I choose the Pursuit of Happiness Stamp Set and the quote is: “Do your little bit of good where you are. It’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world” -Desmond Tutu. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of Window Sheet in Staz-On Opaque White Ink. Along the bottom I adhered a piece of cork shelf liner that I picked up from a home improvement store. The balloons are from the Collage Curios Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangerine Tango and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the Window Sheet. The card itself is a piece of Pacific Point Card stock. I stamped the image from The Open Sea Stamp Set in Pacific Point that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. I like when you look at the card the balloons seem to float over it. They are like the little bits of good!

The second card I have for you is for the Catalog Focus Challenge which is: Catalog Focus: Check out the Fan Fair Product Suite in the IBC, pp.106-117. Romance us with Elements of Style or Everything Eleanor. Take us away with Postage Due or Papillon Potpourri. Intrigue us with Daydream Medallions or Nature’s Price. Choose any of the beautiful stamp sets in this suite and amaze us!

I thought it would be neat to mix some of the suite with some Sale-A-Bration. The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. The main panel is a piece of Fan Fair Designer Series Paper that I backed with a piece of Crumb Cake for a little more heft. I stamped the phone box from the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set in Riding Hood Red and the greeting is from the Vintage Verses, stamped in Island Indigo. The stamps along the edge are from the Postage Due Stamp Set and are stamped in Riding Hood Red and Island Indigo, I punched them out with the Postage Stamp Punch. The main panel is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For a little extra I stamped the tickets from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set in More Mustard, punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and held them in place with a clip from the Hung Up Cute Clips Set. I really like the way that all 0f the sets work so well together!

CCREW0313DF

The third and final card is for the DSP Challenge:DSP/Color Focus: Let’s soar with the wonderful Fan Fair DSP and Island Indigo, which will be gone soon. Create a project with Island indigo and Fan Fair DSP or some of the colors in that DSP. You must use island indigo, though.

A simple birthday card was my thinking for  this challenge. The base of the card is Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used a piece of the Fan Fair Designer Series Paper and backed it with a piece of Island Indigo. The Gossamer Lace Wood Mount Stamp is stamped in Sahara Sand and I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool to pierce the edge. The greeting is from the Best of Birthday’s Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo, I punched it out with the Extra Large Oval Punch. Both pieces are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It needed a little something more so I cut out some Riding Hood Red with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit and adhered them with some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. I really like the Gossamer Lace as a backdrop and the piercing looks pretty neat around it.

I hope that you enjoyed my cards for this month’s SplitCoast Creative Crew Challenge. Head on over to the gallery and see all of the other great projects the rest of the Design Team has come up with. You should play along too and have some fun! Hope to see your creations there. Thanks for taking some time to spend with me today. I hope that you all have a good Monday!

Paper Player 135 :-)

Hello there! Sunday already, boy these weekends move pretty fast! I had a semi-productive Saturday. I finally got a much needed haircut, I was looking like I don’t know what! I puttered around the house and played at the craft desk for a bit which I don’t normally get to do. Most of the time when I sit there it’s for a project or challenge, it’s nice to just mess around! This morning I’m going to a chocolate show by the Cradle of Aviation out here on Long Island with my friend Danielle. I do love some chocolate! How was your day, what’s on tap for today?

Sunday means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. First, congratulations to Danielle (different one! LOL!) for being my pick for Cut Above last week. I love her CAS card using one of my current favorite sets, Sent with Love. Now this week we have a theme challenge from the lovely LeAnne…

Paper Players 135 Theme 3-03-2013

I have to admit that I was at a loss when I first saw this one. I thought hmm… I knew I should have gotten that Hoop La-La Set! After pondering it for a bit I remembered that I do have something stitched! The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is made up of 1/2″ strips of Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Gumball Green, Bashful Blue, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point and Perfect Plum Card Stock. Wow, that was a lot of colors! I ran each one through the Big Shot using the Needlepoint Border Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I adhered them all to a piece of Crumb Cake (I don’t know why I choose that color!) with SNAIL and then trimmed off the excess on either side. The greeting is from the Sunshine Single Clear Mount Stamp and is stamped in Tangerine Tango. I backed it with a piece of Perfect Plum and adhered the panel to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I thought it needed a little something more so I stamped the sun from the Spring Sampler Stamp Set in Daffodil Delight and cut him out. Another Stampin’ Dimensional holds him in place. I can honestly say that is the most colors I have ever used on a card, but that’s what a rainbow is all about right?!?! I hope that you enjoyed my bright happy Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s challenge from LeAnne. Hop on over to the Paper Players blog to see what my other peeps have come up with and enter a card of your own to share with us! Thank you for spending some time with me today and enjoy yours!

Paper Players #134 :-)

Hello peeps! My Saturday just flew by, how about you? I’m off to Manhattan this morning to see Kim and Isabella. It rained here all day yesterday just like they promised, it’s supposed to clear up at some point today. Hopefully the latter part of today will go by a little more slowly!

It’s Sunday and that means it Paper Players time! First, congratulations to Lisa for being my Cut Above for last week’s challenge with her cute baby card! This week we have a Clean and Simple sketch from the lovely Jaydee…

Paper Players 134 2-24-2013

I have been loving the CAS cards of late and this really is the perfect sketch for it. The base of my card is Naturals White Card Stock and I rounded the lower right corner with the 1″ Circle Punch. A strip of Tea for Two Designer Series Paper is adhered down the right side. I cut out a piece of So Saffron and Early Espresso with the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies. The Early Espresso piece is cut out again with a smaller one to form a frame. The So Saffron piece is embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I adhered the frame to the base with Stampin’ Dimensional pieces. The middle image is from the Friendship Preserves Stamp Set and is stamped in Lucky Limeade and also is cut out with the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies. I markered the hello with my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker, scored it and flagged the ends, then folded it and adhered it to the Lucky Limeade image with a Stampin’ Dimensional. The friend is from the Family Reunion Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso directly on to the card base. I really like the framed window and the popped up hello. I hope you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Don’t forget to stop by the blog to see what all of the other designers have come up and enter one of yours, you might be my pick for Cut Above next week! Enjoy your Sunday!

Paper Players #133 :-)

Well, that Saturday went fast! How was your day? I got a lot of crafting done which is what I wanted to do. It started snowing here last night again. I am seriously thinking about a move to a warmer area of the country! Any suggestions?!

Today is Sunday so that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. Before we got to this week’s I want to congratulate Karen on being my pick for Cut Above for last week’s challenge! This week the talented Anne Marie has given us a CAS Buttons and Bows for Baby challenge…

Paper Players 133 2-17-2013

I knew exactly what stamp I was going to use as soon as I saw this. The base of my card is Calypso Coral Card Stock. I stamped a piece of Whisper White with the Distressed Dots Background Stamp in Calypso Coral for the background. The Oh, Baby! Single Stamp is stamped in Calypso Coral on Whisper White and backed with a piece of Calypso Coral. I wound some Calypso Coral Bakers Twine around the bottom half and tied a Natural Designer Button on with a little bow. Whew! That was a lot of Calypso Coral! I do have to say that the new Firm Foam Ink Pads do a great job of inking up big solid images. I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Paper Players Challenge from Anne Marie. Don’t forget to click on over to the blog and see what the other fantastic designers have come up with. Enter one of your own creations for us to see and maybe you’ll be a Cut Above or the Headliner next week! Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you all have an very enjoyable Sunday!

The Paper Players #132 :-)

Hello from the tundra! There were a lot of snowblowers running yesterday around here. My car was dug out early and I ventured out to help my friend Heather dig out. We had some Subway for lunch and then I stopped to see Kim and came home and did some crafting. One of my friends is in Florida, one cousin is in Mexico and another is in Australia. I have to say that I am jealous on three counts! I would rather be anywhere but here right now!

On a positive note it’s Sunday and that means it’s time for this weeks Paper Players Challenge. This week the lovely Ann has given us a color challenge…

Paper Players 132 2-10-2013

I have to say that these are favorites of mine! I reached for the Patio Party Designer Series Paper first and then I thought no, I’m gonna think outside the box! The base of my card is Primrose Petals Card Stock. I used a piece of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack for the background. The greeting is from two sets, The Best of Love Stamp Set and the You Rule Stamp Set, both are stamped in Primrose Petals on the DSP. The crown is also form the You Rule Stamp Set and is stamped in Summer Starfruit. I used my Paper Snips to cut it out and added just a few, well maybe a lot, of Basic Jewels Rhinestones and Large Basic Jewels Rhinestones to give it the much needed bling that it deserves! Who wouldn’t want to get this blinged out card for a thank you or a birthday?! I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer Card for this week’s color challenge from Ann. Hop on over to the blog and see what awesome creations my fellow designer have in store for you and upload one of yours! Thanks for visiting, have a good day. Paper Players 131 :-)

Hello everyone! The weekend is just flying by again as usual. I had a nice morning in Manhattan yesterday, I got all of the things I wanted to get done done! It snowed here again last night, just about an inch and is still bitterly cold. The child and I went to Panera for dinner last night and had some quality time, always a good thing.

It’s Sunday so that means it time to play along with the Paper Players again! Before we get to this week’s challenge I wanted to congratulate Linda on being my choice for Cut Above on last week’s sketch challenge. This week Nance has a theme for us…

Paper Players 131 2-03-2013

Not my favorite, or anyones favorite, card to make. They are unfortunately a necessary thing though. I think they should be as simple as possible so I kept my card just that. The base of my card is Chocolate Chip Card Stock. I stamped the flower images form the Nature Walk Stamp Set in Sahara Sand on Very Vanilla. The greeting is stamped on it too from the Word Play Stamp Set in Chocolate Chip. The bird is also from the Nature Walk Stamp Set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip. I backed him with some Chocolate Chip and adhered him with some SNAIL. Simple but not sad, that’s my rule for sympathy cards. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this weeks Paper Players Challenge from Nance. Brrrr! A chilly good Sunday morning to you! I don’t think it has gotten above freezing in over a week here. I am in desperate need of some warm weather! To all of my friends in Australia, please send some of you heat this way! I did have a very nice day yesterday, despite the cold. I went to Heather’s for a super delicious breakfast, then went to Target and then over to see Brian, Kim and the kiddies. I came home and crafted for a bit and picked up Taylor for some quality dad-daughter time. This morning I’m off to Manhattan to see some friends. I better make sure I bundle up!

If it’s Sunday that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players Challenge. First, congratulations to Nicole for her Bee-autiful card, it made her my Cut Above for last week’s challenge! This week the lovely LeAnne has provided us with this nice sketch…

Paper Players 130 2-03-2013

I had an idea as to what I wanted to do as soon as I saw it. The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Cherry Cobbler with the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. The Whisper White panel is stamped with the Spec-Tacular Single Stamp in Basic Gray and I used the 3/16″ Corner rounder to round the corners. A piece of Silver Glimmer Paper takes the place of a ribbon across the bottom. The greeting is form the Dude, You’re Welcome Kit and is stamped in Basic Gray. I again rounded the corners and punched a piece of Red Glimmer Paper out with the Small Heart Punch to fill in the blank. I think this would be a great guy’s Valentine’s Day card or just a fun love card for anyone. I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Players Sketch Challenge from LeAnne. Thanks very much for spending some time with me today! I hope you have a nice cozy Sunday.

Good morning! How are we all faring with the weekend so far? Mine is going well, I brought an iPhone back to life last night for a clumsy friend of mine! Manhattan was nice yesterday and I drove in and no traffic! It’s like winning the Lotto, there is always traffic here. So, how did you all like the Control Freaks Blog Tour last night?! I thought it was a pretty awesome tour! If you want to check it out again you can click here.

Seeing as it’s Sunday that must mean it’s time for another Paper Players Challenges! Congratulations to Stacey and her Cowboy card for being my choice for Cut Above last week! For this week’s challenge the lovely Jaydee has given us this Clean and Simple sketch…

Paper Players 129 1-20-2013

I figured that after my really feminine card the other day I needed something really masculine! LOL! I started my card off with a base of Not Quite Navy Card Stock. The background is created with a piece of River Rock… I don’t think I have used River Rock in forever… anyway… that I embossed with the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is stamped with an image from the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set. I used my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the pattern perfectly so it looks like one big stamp. For the watch I used the Dapper Dad Stamp Set. The dial is stamped in River Rock and the band in Soft Suede. The dial is mounted to the band and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is form the Cross My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. I trimmed it up with my Paper Snips and used some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces to adhere it to the card. What man would not want to get a nice clean masculine card like this one for their birthday?!?! I love the stamp and embossing folder coordination and the River Rock looks nice with the Not Quite Navy. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s challenge from Jaydee. Don’t forget to stop by the blog and see what amazing cards the other talented designer have come up with and enter one of yours so I can see! I hope you have a nice rest of your weekend. 🙂

Happy Sunday peeps! I had a very nice time in Manhattan yesterday. Kim and I went to the diner for breakfast. After that we went down to the Village an wandered around. We stopped at Chelsea Market, which smelled divine. We wandered around and made our way up to Korea Town and had some Korean food for dinner. It was a nice nothing planned see where the day takes you kind of day. We didn’t get to the movies but that’s ok, we’ll see something next time.

Sunday also means that it’s time for another challenge from the Paper Players. This week we have a color challenge from Anne Marie…

Paper Player 128 1-13-2013

I puzzled over what to do for this one. I finally settled on a clean and simple card. The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Daffodil Delight with the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is stamped with an image from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set in Pacific Point. I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies to cut it and before it is adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I pierced around the edge with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. The tickets across the bottom are from the Take a Ticket Stamp Set and are also stamped in Pacific Point. I punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and adhered them with some more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I thought the card needed a little bling so I put some Basic Jewels Rhinestones on the main image. Who wouldn’t want to get a card proclaiming that they are amazing?!?! I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Paper Player Color Challenge from Anne Marie. Oh, congratulations to Audrey for being my choice for Cut Above for last week’s challenge. Don’t forget to click on over to the Paper Players blog to see what the other designers have come up with and enter your card for us to see! Thanks for paying me a visit today. Splitcoast Creative Crew

Monday, Monday… back so soon I see! How was everyone’s weekend? Mine was pretty good. I didn’t get all of my projects done but I did get most of them. The weather was very nice here yesterday and I can sense the extra minutes of daylight we are getting each day on way back to glorious spring!

Today I’m posting two cards that I made for the Creative Crew over on Splitcoast. They kindly asked me if I would be a part of the crew for the next four months and I happily agreed. You can visit the challenge gallery here and upload your own cards. They also have a scrapbook challenge which I didn’t do this month but I will give a go next month!

My first card is all about Designer Series Paper. The challenge is to use a favorite designer series paper and convince you to love it too. The base of the card is Not Quite Navy Card Stock and the background is a simple piece of Very Vanilla. The vest is made from Parker’s Patterns Designer Series Paper. It is just a rectangle that I cut a “v” in and used the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch to make the arm holes. The bowtie is from the Dapper Dad Stamp Set and is stamped in Sahara Sand and the greeting is form the the Apothecary Art Stamp Set and is stamped in Not Quite Navy. What vest would be complete without some Naturals Designer Buttons?! It’s a really simple card and would also make a great Father’s Day card. I really do love the DSP, it’s got some nice masculine patterns and bold colors in it too!

The second card is all about SIP… stamps, ink and paper and that’s all I used on it. The base of the card is Rose Red Card Stock. Across the lower half is a piece of Very Vanilla that I stamped with the chevron stamps from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set in Rose Red and Pretty in Pink. The main panels also has images stamped from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set. The flowers are stamped in Rose Red and Pretty in Pink and the greeting in Rose Red. I backed it wait a piece of Pretty in Pink before adhering it to the card with SNAIL. Super simple, no Big Shot, no Punches just SIP!

There is also a third card that I made but I think you can take a look at that one when you go and check out the gallery! I hope that you enjoyed my first two cards for the Splitcoast Creative Crew. Thank you so much for stopping by and don’t forget to enter your card in this weeks “Love is in the Air” challenge from Ann over at the Paper Players! Have a very nice day!
