Feathered Gold Love You

I will give you fair warning that this post is very photo heavy! LOL! I decided that yesterday was going to be a relaxing day so I ended up not going to Manhattan. However, my friend Kim did take a walk through Central Park and was kind enough to send me some pictures! We’ll get to those in a minute. Yesterday morning I got up and did some crafty things. I had a project sitting on my desk that I wanted to finish, it’s my card for today and I LOVE it! I ran some errands with Andrew and we had some Sonic for lunch. After I came home and finished some more projects. The rest of the day was quiet except for some car trouble for Andrew which hopefully turns out to be covered by a recall. Oh, remember that wine that I told you about the other day? Well, I went back to Stew Leonard’s and I remembered to take a picture of the sign:

Doesn’t that sound delicious?!?! Believe me it was! I tend to prefer a Pinot Noir but I really like this one too!

Now for some Manhattan pictures. The first one is a wide shot of the Conservatory Garden. In the warmer weather they are filled with flowers. I’ll make sure and go in the spring to show you the difference.

In the center you can see the Untermyer Fountain. Walter Schott’s Three Dancing Maidens depicts a circle of three young women whose dresses cling to their wet bodies as if they were perpetually in the fountain’s spray. Here is a close up of the fountain:

Ok, now on to my card for today. I was inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest and I needed to make a card with lots of goodies on it and this definitely has a lot of stuff! I also made an exception to a rule I try to never break; I used glitter! I’ll be cleaning that up for a while! My card base is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. Across the top is a piece of paper from the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. The top right and lower left corners are rounded. The next thing I did was stamp the arrows from the Peachy Keen Stamp Set in Encore Gold Metallic Ink. I used a piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum for my “background” and stamped the love from the Best of Love Stamp Set in Basic Black. My arrow is one of the pieces from the Essentials Wooden Elements and the XOXO is from the Quite the Pair Stamp Set and is stamped also in Basic Black. Three stars are cut out from Gold Foil Sheet, one using an element from the Circle Card Thinlits and two with the Merry Minis Punch Pack. In the upper right is one of the mini clothespins from the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit with a piece of Gold Bakers Twine tied in a bow. In the clip are two feathers that I cut out with my e-cutter and the Feathered Woodcuts Digital Kit. I then heat embossed them with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A small piece of Basic Black that I flagged is on top. Finally I used my e-cutter to cut out the you, it’s the American Typewriter Font and is covered in Gold Stampin’ Glitter. I love this card! The colors and all of the elements work well together and are fun! I’m really having a good time with my e-cutter too. The Feathered Woodcuts is definitely my favorite MDS file so far! Catherine and Cathy Create 23

Happy Friday peeps! No adverse weather to report from yesterday, just really cold but that’s nothing compared to what we have had lately! Work was ok yesterday, I got to run out for a bit to pick up some stuff. After work I met my friend Heather for some dinner. She is going skiing for the first time this weekend and she said we should have dinner in case she didn’t make it back! We went to Anthony’s Coal Fire Pizza and it was delicious as usual. We had a traditional thin crust pizza with calamata olives and Poscuitto, Yum! Today at work we have the Longevity Awards at the Hilton so breakfast will be good! I have this issue where I tend to eat too much towards the end of the week! LOL!

Today I’m over on the Catherine and Cathy Create blog for this month’s cards challenge. This time we have a fun theme… Gold-i-licious! I’m loving the gold on cards lately so I had some fun! My card is based on the Mojo sketch for this week, I really liked it so I thought I would give it another go! The card base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I used a piece of Brushed Gold for my background and a piece of I Am Me Designer Series Paper for my banner which I backed with some Whisper White for stability. Some Gold Sequin Trim goes around the top and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. My piece of Basic Gray is embossed with the “Vintage” Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The greeting is from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. For the hearts I used some Gold Foil Sheet and Champagne Glimmer Paper and the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies to cut them out. My arrow is one of the elements form the Label Card Thinlits Dies. All of the elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I personally think that this card would make a great masculine Valentine, even with all of the gold! Perfect Peachy Notes Sneak Peek

Ahh yes, the weekend! Everyones favorite time of the week, well, at least my favorite! Work again was pretty calm yesterday and I’m sure that will change come next week. It was really cold here again, I’m over that! In less than two weeks I’ll be in Houston for Leadership! It really has come quickly but I’m really excited to go, it’s going to be a good time! 🙂

My card for today has a bit of a funny story behind it. A friend of mine, Emily, had said that she liked the Mr. & Mrs. card that I had done for last week’s Pals Paper Arts but wasn’t sold on the Stamp Set because of the “bathroom” couple. I had to think for a minute and then I realized that she meant the stamp I have used on my card today. She said that if I could show her a card that makes them not look like “bathroom” people she would like the Stamp Set better. So here is what I have come up with…

The base of my card is Pool Party Card Stock and I used a piece of So Saffron for the background. A strip of paper from the I Am Me Designer Series Paper Pack goes down the left side. My main image is from the Perfect Couple Stamp Set* and is stamped in Basic Gray on Pool Party and the mini heart is punched out with the Owl Builder Punch. The frame around it is created using the Squares Collection Framelits Dies and the Oh Snap! is form the Hip Notes Stamp Set* and is stamped in Real Red. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The hearts are punched out from Real Red with the Small Heart Punch. I used the Peachy Keen Stamp Set* to stamp the arrows along the bottom and they are cut out with the On Film Framelits Dies*. I also cut out a piece of Silver Foil Sheet with them for the camera. All of the elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and some silver sequins complete the card. So, what do you think? Do they still look like “bathroom” people? I don’t think they do at all! Occasions Catalog Sneak Peek

Happy Sunday! My work Holiday party was a lot of fun last night! There were a ton of people there and some delicious food. They play a “Bad Santa” game where you bring a wrapped gift and then you pick a number to decided your turn to choose. You can pick a new gift or steal one from someone else. The person that picks number one gets to go at the end and take whatever they want! I ended up with a Google Chromcast with a little help from some friends! Like I said lots of fun! Here are a few pictures from last night. I’m also sporting my new haircut! LOL!

For today’s post I have a card that I made for Danielle’s mom’s birthday. I CASE’d the tag from the 2014 Occasions Catalog. I thought it would make a nice focal point for a card. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and some Strawberry Slush backed with a piece of Brushed Gold for my background. The tag is created with a piece of the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum* backed with a piece of Whisper White. I punched two holes in the top and threaded some Whisper White Bakers Twine through and tied it in a bow. The greeting is from the Starburst Sayings Stamp Set* and is stamped in Strawberry Slush and cut out with the Starburst Framelits Dies*. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the pieces to the card. I really like that even though it’s a simple card the greeting and the Designer Vellum give it a little wow! Now on to today’s post. It’s Monday and that means it’s time for the Paper Players! This week we have a fun challenge from Lovely LeAnne…

I was quite happy when I saw this because a little over a month ago I made a card that works perfectly for this challenge. I got my inspiration from Pinterest and I was saving it… just for this… yeah… that’s right! LOL! The base of my card is Gumball Green Card Stock. The little strip of paper across the bottom is from the Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper Pack. All of my images are stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla. The pine branches are from the “Vintage” Watercolor Winter Stamp Set and are stamped and stamped-off in Always Artichoke. My circles are from various middles of stamp sets and are stamped and stamped-off in Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, So Saffron and Blushing Bride. I choose my greeting from the More Merry Messages Stamp Set and it is stamped in Coastal Cabana. Finally some sequins are randomly placed in coordinating colors. I love the way the circles and sequins look like lights on a tree and the mix of colors is just fun! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Evergreen challenge from LeAnne. Catherine & Cathy Create!

Hello and welcome to Saturday! It was gloomy here all day again yesterday but they promise some sun today. I have a block party to go to later and hopefully it won’t rain! There will be lots of crafting going on this weekend too. Making my final preparations for my Wednesday departure for Salt Lake City Utah! What are all of you up to this weekend?

Today’s post is for a new challenge blog called Catherine & Cathy Create. They are going to have some fun challenges and today I’m posting my first card for them for their Buttons & Bows Challenge. I don’t know if you noticed the new badge along the right side of my blog but I have been asked to be on the Design Team too! I’m quite excited to get started so here we go!

I have been having fun with the freestyle collage style of cards lately and I found the inspiration for this card on Pinterest. The base is Sahara Sand Card Stock trimmed to 4 x 11 and folded in half so I could let some embellishments hang off the side and it would still fit in a standard envelope. I used some Epic Day This & That Washi Tape on the right side. A piece of Pistachio Pudding is cut out with the Delicate Doilies Large Sizzlit Die and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The ticket is from the That’s the Ticket Stamp Set and is punched out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. I used the “Vintage” Birds & Blooms Sizzlit to cut out the flower from some linen fabric and used a Candy Dots Brad Base with a Basic Jewels Rhinestone in the middle to hold it together. A Sale-A-Bration button and two Naturals Designer Buttons are also on the card with a Basic Jewels Pearl in the middle of the Pool Party button. The butterfly is from the Best of Butterflies Stamp Set and I used a Q-Tip to color it in with Crisp Cantaloupe. For the greeting I used the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set and angled it on the left. A few vanilla pearl sequins complete the card. I really do like the fun collage style, it makes a nice change up from the usual. Create with Connie and Mary 256

Good morning! Saturday, no work all play and the weather is supposed to be nice here today! Did you get all of your Father’s Day cards made? I, like always have projects to make this weekend and that makes me happy! LOL! I have been trying some more abstract and different styles lately and I’m really liking it. You’ll have to let me know what you think of today’s card which was inspired by one that I saw on Pinterest. Oh, and I’m experimenting with my photography too, your feedback is appreciated!

Today’s post – Create with Connie and Mary 256, colors…

What a fun color combination and conveniently they are all in the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. There is a strip of the Soho Subway DSP across the bottom and the panel on the right is backed by some Very Vanilla to make it a little more sturdy. I used a thin strip of Champagne Glimmer Paper on the piece across the bottom and also for some of the circles. The circles are punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, 1/2″ Circle Punch and 1″ Circle Punch. I stamped the Island Indigo ones with a stamp from the Notable Notions Stamp Set in Island Indigo. The circles are then randomly adhered, some with SNAIL and some with Stampin’ Dimensionals, on the panel on the right. For the greeting I used the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso, and mounted to the panel with some more Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few Island Indigo and Early Espresso Candy Dots finish off the card. I LOVE the candy dots, I’m going to be going through a lot of them! I also like the Champagne Glimmer Paper with the color combo, I think it works quite nicely. Thank you for checking in with me today to see my Create with Connie and Mary color challenge card. Memorable Apothecary Thoughts Special Occasion

Hello there! Even though the weekend was a three day one for me it still seemed to fly. I did get a lot accomplished and spent some time relaxing and seeing friends. I got to watch the two little munchkins Izzy and Savannah yesterday and then went back over for a BBQ in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day here, not too hot and nice and sunny. All in all a very nice weekend indeed. Now if only we could get a three day weekend every week! LOL!

Today I have a card and frame that I made for a friend at work. It’s his parent’s 60th wedding anniversary. Wow! 60 years together, that’s quite an incredible feat. He asked if I could make him a card for them, he said that he hear that I made nice cards. I said that I would be happy to. I also got to scan in their wedding album and there was this photo that I saw and I knew that I wanted to do something to it. I knew just what I was going to do too.

For the card I started with a base of Crisp Cantaloupe Card Stock and rounded the bottom corners. The stamped image is from the Apothecary Art Stamp Set and is stamped three times, once in Costal Cabana*, again in Crisp Cantaloupe* and one more time in Smokey Slate*. The Costal Cabana* one is cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and backed with a piece of Brushed Silver Specialty Card Stock. For the Crisp Cantaloupe* one I fussy cut the wreath out and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Smokey Slate* is just the banner and I heat embossed the greeting from Loving Thoughts Stamp Set with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and adhered it with more Dimensionals. The 60th is from the Memorable Moments Stamp Set and is stamped in Costal Cabana* and fussy cut too. Some Basic Jewels Rhinestones finish the card.

The frame has an antiqued silver finish. I printed the photo out on photo paper and then printed it again and just cut out the invitation. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals pop up the invitation to give it some depth. The flowers are just simple ribbon flowers that I picked up at the craft store and individually glued them to the picture. They matched the flowers that were in his mother’s bouquet perfectly. I thought it was a nice way to give the picture some added depth and sentimental value. Below is the whole frame and a close up of the flowers.

The person asked me how much I wanted for the card and I said let it be my gift to your parents. He said that my gift was being kind enough to share my talent with others. I can’t explain how great that made me feel. He really like the card and the frame. I was very to happy to have been able to make such an important card, one that I probably won’t get to make again. Woo hoo! The color renovation has been announced! I’m so happy that they have kept four of the five 2011-2013 In-Colors! I’m a little sad to see that Lucky Limeade didn’t make the cut but we also got some former In-Colors back too! Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzaz and Blushing Bride along with a new color Smokey Shadow. They have also moved some colors to different families and of course they are retiring some colors. Simple Monday

Good Monday morning to you! How was your weekend? Mine was fantastic, mostly due to the fact that it was a three day weekend for me! I got all of my little projects done, cleaned the house, spent time with my peeps and crafted for like 16 hours!! Now that’s a good weekend. I have two cards for you today. I made these last night, one was from some scraps I had left over and the other one was just because. Sometime you just need a simple card and that’s just what these two are.

The first one is really simple. I had these triangles left over from something else I was working on and I thought maybe just glue them down the center of a card base of Pool Party and have them point to a greeting. The greeting is from the Best of 25 Love Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Gray. The triangles are Basic Gray, Crumb Cake and Bermuda Bay. Super simple yet sleek and modern. Triangles are very big right now too so it’s a little trendy!

The second card is a case of a card that I had seen either on Pinterest or a magazine. Simple base and background of Whisper White. The feather is from the Fine Feathers Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay (think I like the color a little?!) and the greeting is from the A Little Greeting Wood Mount Stamp Set. Some Calypso Coral spritzed and a little piece of Epic Day This & That Washi Tape and we are almost done. I happened to have some sequins that match the Bermuda Bay color perfectly so I added three! Again super simple card but it still has some wow factor. Perfect just let someone know you are thinking of them.

A CASE for Monday

Happy Monday… NOT! LOL! Poor Monday always has a bad rap because it starts another work week. I had a great weekend and the weather was almost perfect. I did a little running around yesterday morning and had some lunch with Maureen. I also started to organize my craft area which has become quite large, soon the bed will have to leave! Some cards were made and then I found a 16 Handles Froyo not far from here so I alerted my peeps and off we went. My friend Kim’s two little girls are just the cutest, Izzy says my name now and I melt! I even got to see the child last night, a great way to cap off any evening. 🙂

Today’s card – A CASE – from Stampin’ Success…

I know that most of you know that us Demonstrators get this great magazine every two months (used to be every month, I miss it!) and on the front cover and inside were these great flowers and one was made into a card. I did a little CASE of the card, I did change a few things, but I really like the way it came out. The base of the card is Calypso Coral and the background is a piece of Whisper White. I sponged some Calypso Coral on the front and along the edges. Some paper-piercing is done around the perimeter and the greeting is stamped from the Blooming with Kindness Stamp Set in Soft Suede. The doily is heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and there is some Creped Filter Paper and This and That Washi Tape on there too. The flower is created using the Blossom Punch and some distressing with my Bone Folder and the Stampin’ Pierce Mat. Some leaves from the Secret Garden Framelits and a piece of 5/8″ Flower Trim in the middle. A few spots and Basic Jewels Rhinestones finish off the card. I hope you enjoyed my CASE today.
