Paper Players 228

Yes, it rained all day yesterday just like they said it would. I didn’t go anywhere except to see Daniel at my parents. My brother and his wife went to a wedding so my parents watched Daniel. He is so damn cute I can’t stand it! We gave him some stew and he loved it and then I fed him his fruit. We ran around and payed with the magnets on the fridge. He is trying to talk and he gets a little annoyed that you don’t understand what he is trying to tell you. It won’t be long now! I did manage to get a lot of crafting done yesterday. I didn’t get as much done as I had planned because I decided that I would try my hand at a mixed media project and I got lost in it. Time sure does fly when you are having fun! What were you all up to yesterday?

Today, being Monday, means that I have my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #228

A fun challenge from LeAnne! I decided that I would break out the Bravo Stamp Set and go from there. My card base for today is a piece of 12″ x 12″ Crumb Cake Card Stock that I cut to 5 1/2″ x 12″ and scored at 4″ and 8″ to make a trifold card. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the window, the frame from a piece of Night of Navy and a piece of Vellum. The greeting, from the Bravo Photopolymer Stamp Set, is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on the Vellum and adhered to the card behind the frame. On the panel inside I adhered a piece of Maritime Designer Series Paper. When you fold the card you can slightly see the DSP through the window. Definitely a very clean card that puts the sentiment front and center! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. It’s always good to have you stop by and I hope that you have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

And that’s a wrap on another weekend! I did have a good one, always too fast but that’s the way they go. I got a lot of things accomplished today, more than I thought that I would! Love when that happens! I got some more backgrounds for cards made and some more cards finished. Went and had dinner at Brian and Kim’s, it was taco night! Yum! I also ran out to Scrap-A-Latte to drop off some projects for the store, Brian took a ride with me and all of the ladies there loved him! LOL! I came home and finished my card for today and then headed off to bed. How was your weekend?

It’s time for another Paper Players challenge. Before I get to this week’s I want to thank Joanne for choosing my card as her pick for last week’s challenge. You can see my original post here and the Paper Players post here. Now on to this week, we have a color challenge from Ann…

Paper Players #227

A fun and different color combo! I started today’s card off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and covered the front in a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe. A piece of Lost Lagoon is cut out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and adhered to the card with some 2-Way Glue Pen. My tag is a piece of Sahara Sand and I used the Ornate Tag Topper Punch to create it. All of the stamps are from the Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Stamp Set. The leaves are stamped onto the tag with Lost Lagoon and the greeting is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. For the butterfly I stamped him on a piece of Very Vanilla using Crisp Cantaloupe and cut him out with the Butterflies Thinlits. In the middle of the butterfly is a Naturals Designer Button with some gold thread tied in a bow. I used some Glue Dots to hold the button and the butterfly in place. A piece of 1/8″ Gold Ribbon is tied through the top and the tag is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really do love the colors together and that stamp set is fast becoming one of my favorites! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Your visits always make my day a little better so thanks for stopping by and have a as good a Monday as you can! 🙂

I had a very nice weekend and hope that the same is true for you! I had a semi-productive day yesterday. Not quite as productive as the rest of the weekend but we all need a little down time right?! I did manage to get some cards made yesterday before I headed out with Heather to do some errands. We went to Bed, Bath & Beyond and the mall so that she could return some stuff. We stopped back at my house so that we could take the old wall unit over to her house. My dad has a truck and boy does that come in handy! After that I came home and puttered around a bit and then watch the end of A Good Day to Die Hard and the beginning of Divergent. Then I decided that It was time to get the rest of my stuff done before trying to get to bed early, ha! Back to work today, maybe I’ll move my office?! Maybe not! LOL!

Before we get to today’s post I wanted to take a minute to remind you that beginning tomorrow you can start ordering from the 2015 Occasions Catalog and also qualify for Sale-A-Bration rewards! Do you have your lists ready?! I’m sure that you do! 🙂

After a little vacation the Paper Players are back with their first challenge of 2015 and it’s a theme from Anne Marie…

Paper Players #226

I went with a recycled and repurposed item on my project. My card base is Whisper White Card Stock and the entire front is covered in a piece of Kraft Card Stock. On top of that I adhered a piece the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum to a piece of Very Vanilla and that is then adhered to the base. My recycled/repurposed item is the denim banner that I cut out with the Party Pennants Bigz L Die. Some Fast Fuse adheres it to the vellum. My greeting is form the Four You Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Kraft and cut out with a die from the Circle Card Thinlits. I used the Butterfly Thinlits to cut out the butterfly and the Hello You Thinlits for the “you”, both from Kraft. The Butterfly is adhered with Glue Dots and the “you” is adhered with Crystal Effects. I fluffed up the butterfly wings and that completes the card. I do love the look of the denim with the gold and Kraft, it makes for a fun combination don’t you think?! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Theme challenge! Thank you so much for you time today and I wish you all a Magnificent Monday! 🙂

And it’s Monday again. I had a nice relaxing weekend, something I don’t usually do. I still managed to get some stuff done, not as much as I wanted to but it happens! Yesterday was semi-productive. I got the tree out up and now I need to find the decorations. I ran to BJ’s last night with Heather and then we went over to see Brian & Kim. Andrew stopped by too. Not a bad way to end the day! I can’t believe how fast Christmas is approaching. I need to get my cards out this week. Have you started or finished your cards yet?

Monday and it’s time for another Paper Players challenge. This week we have a theme challenge from Nance…

Paper Players #225

Hmm… a fancy holiday project to me means lots of glitz! I began today’s card with a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. My background is a piece of Basic Black that I heat embossed (I know, shocking!) the tree from the “Vintage” Christmas Lodge Stamp Set in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My frame is a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper that I cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies along with a piece of Window Sheet. Before I adhered the Window Sheet to the frame I heat embossed the greeting from the “Vintage” Greetings of the Season Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and put it in between the frame and Window Sheet. Some sequins are sprinkled on the black and I doubled up on the foam tape so they would be able to move around nicely. I like the way that the vellum obscures the sequins so it’s a little bit of a surprise when you shake the card and they all come up! I hope that you enjoyed my sparkly card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. Thanks for visiting and here’s to a very good Monday for us all! 🙂

Monday, why do you have to come so soon?! I did have a nice four days off, I managed to get some stuff accomplished but not everything that I wanted to. Isn’t that the way it always goes?! This morning I have to be at one of our other work locations at 6:15am, ugh! Yesterday I managed to get a bunch of cards made and then I went out for a bit with Heather to see our friends Patti and Tom. On the way home we stopped off at Target and picked up a few things, I always forget one thing and last night it was granola bars. I of course picked up things that I didn’t need but isn’t that the way it always goes at Target?! I hope that you all have recovered from Thanksgiving and Black Friday! It’s Cyber Monday today, but at least you get to do that from the comfort of your own home!

The one good thing about Monday is it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week it’s a Tic-Tac-Toe from Jaydee…

Paper Players #224

I hit seven of the nine squares! I was going to try for them all but I forgot about the patterned paper and transport! Oops! Today’s card was inspired by one that I saw on Pinterest. My card base for today’s card is Sahara Sand Card Stock. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Mossy Meadow and used a Simon Says Stamp Stencil and some Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste to create my falling snow. To make the shaker portion I cut a piece of Lost Lagoon out with the Banners Framelits and then used the tree form the Snowflake Card Thinlits to create the negative tree in the banner. A piece of Window Sheet is adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue on the back and some foam tape to keep the sequins inside. Before I adhered the banner to the card I tied a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe Thick Baker’s Twine in a bow towards the top and punched out a star with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack from some Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered that with a tiny bit of a Stampin’ Dimensional. My greeting is form the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Crisp Cantaloupe and cut out with another one of the dies from the Snowflake Card Thinlits. A few Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere that to across the bottom of the banner and that completes the card. I am loving the colors on toady’s card, yes it’s very non-traditional but it does have the green and you can pretend that the Crisp Cantaloupe is red! LOL! And that’s my card for this week’s Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge. I hope that you enjoyed it and that you have as good a Monday as it will allow! Thank you so much for coming by! 🙂

Paper Players 223 & Subway Chickens!

Hello there! How was the weekend? Mine was pretty good, I had a nice time in Manhattan yesterday. The weather was perfect, I did a lot of walking, 9 miles to be exact! I love walking in the city. My friend Kim and I met for breakfast at the diner and then we walked across Central Park. I stopped by to see Joe and Penny for a bit and then met up with Kim at 116th Street and Park Avenue. There is a market there called La Marqueta, they have all kinds of food truck vendors and a garden center. We had some really good bacon wrapped pork bites and rice balls with chicken, for dessert some yummy ice cream. I stopped by Kim & Brian’s for some tacos on the way home and then I came home and crafted for a bit. I had the American Music Awards on and got to see Sam sing I’m Not the Only One. Can’t wait to see him in January! My friend Michael made a really cool card yesterday using a little Stampin’ Up! and some stencils. Love the birds! Go and take a look HERE! Oh, yes, I almost forgot, I have some pictures for you too! I thought that the blog post title would intrigue you! There were a few chickens under the subway tracks! There really isn’t anything that you can’t find in Manhattan! LOL!

And there are the chickens! They were happy little chickens too!

A fun day in the city! Since it’s Monday that means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #223

A sketch from the lovely LeAnne! I had the urge to use some silver, well, a lot of silver! My card base is Basic Black Card Stock. I heat embossed the greeting from the Four You Stamp Set with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder in the lower right corner. I then embossed a pice of Silver Foil Sheet with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch for the little strip across the top punched from Basic Gray. Another piece of Basic Gray that I flagged on the bottom is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the embossed panel. A Silver Basic Metal Button with some Basic Black Baker’s Twine tied in a bow is adhered to the flag with Glue Dots. I used the Four Feathers Stamp Set heat embossed on Vellum in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder for my element on the panel. They are adhered to each other with SNAIL and to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Three Frosted Sequins adhered with Crystal Effects complete the card. It has been a while since I used the feathers, did you miss them as much as I did?! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge! I love having you stop by and share in my adventures! Thanks so much and have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

My three day weekend actually did feel like a three day weekend so I won’t even complain that it’s Monday. I managed to get some stuff done for a change. I also took a trip out to see my friend Renee for a little Curvy Keepsake demo. After dinner I took a nice long ride in the car and stopped at the airport for a little bit. It didn’t have the desired effect, actually quite the opposite, but it needed to be done. Work is always fun after a day off so I’m not looking forward to my email when I get in! How was your weekend?

Monday and yes, it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge from Ann…

Paper Players #222

Clean and simple thanks. I decided that it was bout time that I actually used the Snowflake Card Thinlit, the card part that is. The card is cut from a piece of Pool Party Card Stock. I stamped the image from the Letterpress Winter Photopolymer Stamp Set in Lost Lagoon on the flip part of the card. Some Silver Glimmer Paper is used to cut out the large snowflake, two smaller ones and the “snow”. I used Multi-Purpose Glue to adhere them all to the card and belly band. The thank you is also from the same set and is heat embossed in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A super simple thank you card that will work well for all of those presents that you will receive over the holidays! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players CAS Thank You challenge from Ann. Thanks for coming by today and I hope that you all have a great Monday! 🙂

I had such nice weekend and it seemed like a long weekend too! Yesterday I was in Manhattan most of the day visiting friends. I even got to have dinner at the diner with Kim. It was a relatively nice day too weather wise. On my way home I stopped at Target to pick up a few things and then crafted for a bit before I decided that I needed to try and catch up on some of my sleep. How was your weekend? What were you guys up to?

It’s Monday and that means it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my friend Sandy has given us a color challenge…

Paper Players #221

I did see a Holiday card when I looked at them but my friend Danielle needs a congratulations card for her mom who just got a promotion at work so I went with some flowers. The card base for today’s card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I used the Hexagon Hive Thinlit to cut out a piece of Very Vanilla for my background and adhered it to the base with 2-Way Glue. All of the stamps are from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set. The flowers are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and the leaves in Mossy Meadow. I cut them all out with the Flower Fair Framelits including the flower middles. My leaves are adhered to the card with SNAIL and the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used some more 2-Way Glue to adhere the centers and brushed them with some Wink of Stella Glimmer Pen to give them a little sparkle (which you can’t see in the picture). The greeting is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler and cut out with the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. I used my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker around the edge to give it a little definition and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. A nice simple card to let someone know how great you think they are. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from Sandy. I appreciate your stopping by today and I wish you all a great start to your week! 🙂

Happy Monday! I had a wonderful weekend! Saturday I went to Trenton, NJ for a rubber stamp show. It’s the first one that I have been to and it was pretty neat to see all of the different companies that I have never heard of before. I went with Michael and his best friend Sue and her sister Arlene. We met up with their friends Gail and Debbie and wandered around for a few hours. After that we went to Hobby Lobby. I don’t know if any of you have ever been to a Hobby Lobby but they pretty much have anything that you can think of and I mean anything. I picked up a few things that I have been eyeing for a while and even found some stuff that was on clearance that I wanted. We stopped at Red Robin for dinner and then headed home. Here are a few pictures, the first one is Michael and I and the next one is all of us.

Michale & I NJ

The Gang RSS NJ

Yesterday I was in Manhattan seeing some friends. Michael had to work at the Ink Pad so we drove in together. I went to see Penny and Joe over on the West Side for a bit. I had forgotten that the NYC Marathon was yesterday so when I finished up at their house I tried to get a cab to go back over to the East side. That took about 15 minutes! I did finally get over and stopped to see Jim and Isabella for a bit and then headed down to the Ink Pad to wait for Michael to get off of work. We took the subway back to his car in Astoria and stopped and picked up some Chinese for dinner on the way home. Taylor stopped by for a bit and and we just listened to some music and relaxed. All in all one of the best weekends I have had in a very long time! 🙂

Now on to today’s post. If it’s Monday then it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week my friend LeAnne has given us a vintage challenge…

Paper Players #220

Since I have started stamping I have been given lots of things by my friends that they see when they are out from other companies besides Stampin’ Up! Last week I was playing with some of that stuff and came up with this card and I really love the way it turned out and it fit with the challenge so I decided I would share it with you. The card base is Neenah Solar White, I needed a thick base for my background. Speaking of the background it’s a piece of Watercolor Paper and I heat embossed the “Vintage” French Script Background Stamp in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Next I used a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water to wet the whole sheet of paper. Two more Stampin’ Spritzers, one filled with my Bermuda Bay, Champagne Shimmer Mist and alcohol concoction and the other with Early Espresso and alcohol are spritzed across the background. Some Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Distress Paint mixed with water is then added. The image and greeting are from a Tim Holtz set that has matching framelits called French Flight. I used more of the Distress Paint to stamp the Eiffel Tower and the “Paris” is stamped in Soft Suede on Kraft Craft Card Stock and sponged around the edges. A piece of burlap is spritzed with more Early Espresso and a piece of the Ideology Filmstrip Ribbon is stapled to the background with my Handheld Stapler. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the tower and word and a few mocha sequins scattered across the background complete the card. I had a lot of fun making the card for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge from LeAnne. I hope that you enjoyed it. As always, thank you for stopping by to share some of your time with me. Have a great Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 219

Another lovely day here on Long Island. It wasn’t quite as warm as yesterday but no complaints. My day was very nice, I got up and puttered around the house for a bit and then went to meet Sandy and LeAnne to go to the Scrapbook store and meet up with Michael. LeAnne was up from PA to spend the weekend with Sandy. The ladies browsed around the store for a bit and I spoke to Renee and Michael. After they were done the four of us headed over to Panera for lunch. I got to use Apple Pay for the first time and it was pretty cool! Just touch your finger to the home button and my purchase was paid for! We had a nice lunch and even got the waitress to take our picture! So many craft people at one table! 🙂

After I came home and crafted for a bit. Andrew stopped by for a quick chat and I gave him some stuff to put in his car to help with his service engine soon light. I sat down and watched a movie and relaxed a bit. Working all of those hours on Friday made the weekend seen even shorter. And now we are back to Monday. Bleh!

Not all bad though because Monday’s mean Paper Players challenge time! This week we have a fun sketch from Nance…

Paper Players #219

When I saw the sketch I decided that I wanted a nice snowy shaker card so that’s what I made! My card base is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Garden Green with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the background. To make my shaker I used those Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles again! I’m a little addicted I think! I cut out a piece of Soft Sky and Window Sheet with one and then used two to cut out a piece of Crumb Cake that I stamped in Soft Suede with the Hardwood Background Stamp. Two pieces of Whisper White are cut out with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Dies and adhered to my Soft Sky base. The trees are from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and Are stamped in Garden Green for the tree and Encore Gold Metallic for the dots. I used the Tree Punch to punch them out. The bird is from the same set and is stamped din Cherry Cobbler and cut out with my Paper Snips. The tree in the back is adhered with SNAIL and the bird and tree in the foreground are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some foam tape, doubled, is adhered around the edges of the frame and Martha Stewart Crystal Coarse Glitter is sprinkled generously on the window and then the back adhered. I used a little Fast Fuse to adhere the shaker to the card. Next to it is a piece of Brushed Gold Metallic Card Stock adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set from the 2014 Holiday Supplement and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White and punched out with the 1″ Circle Punch. A Stampin’ Dimensional holds that to the card too. I put just enough glitter in the shaker to hide the hills but when you tilt it back you get to see them! I hope that you enjoyed my little christmas shaker card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge. I thank you for coming by to catch up with me and I hope that you have a great Monday! 🙂
