Paper Players 208

And there goes another weekend! I spent a good part of the day in Manhattan helping out a few friends. I was running around and I didn’t go anywhere new so I didn’t take any pictures. However, I did take a few pictures when I was in PA on Saturday. When I was little and would go there the town was a lot less crowded and there were less houses. There are so many new houses behind my Grandmother’s but when I was standing outside the funeral home and looked across the street I could see clear over to the mountains…

Ringtown

You can see that the houses in the picture are newer, they weren’t there when I was a kid. After we got back from the cemetery we went to this little restaurant for lunch. If you ever happen to be in the Ringtown are and want some food I would highly recommend it. The prices were great, service was excellent and the food was delicious!

Creekside

And yes, there is a creek the runs along side the place! 🙂

Well if it’s Monday that means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. For this one we have an unusual color combo from Nance…

Paper Players #208

I think that the inspiration picture is neat! My card starts off with a base of Basic Gray Card Stock. My background is stamped with the coral from the By the Sea Stamp Set in Hello Honey. The shells are stamped in Basic Gray on Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride and cut out with my Paper Snips. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. The love is a piece of Calypso Coral that I cut out with the “Vintage” Expressions Thinlits and adhered to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. I stamped the You from the Work of Art Stamp Set in Blushing Bride and some gray iridescent sequins complete the background. I mounted it to a piece of Hello Honey before adhering it to the base. I love the way that the Love and the You look like they were made for each other. A simple but sweet card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Thank you so much for coming buy and I wish you a happy easy Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 207 & Manhattan!

Hi there! How was the weekend?! Mine was great! Saturday I was in Manhattan visiting with my friend Kim and her sister Angie and brother Michael. We wandered around China Town and Little Italy. It was quite busy down there, I think because they said it would rain on and off all day but as it turned out it didn’t . It was a very pleasant day, not overly sunny and comfortable. I have some pictures from my outing for you. The first one is of the sign on Mulberry Street for Little Italy…

Little Italy Sign

As you can see from the sign China Town has taken over a lot! We stopped in a bar for a drink and also did some Limoncello shots, what else would you do in Little Italy?!

Shots

That’s me, Kim, Michael and Angie! As we were walking around I saw this man with a cat perched on his head! Only in NY my friends!

Cat Man

If you gave him a dollar you could take his picture, nothing in the city is free! I wonder how much money he makes a day?!

I’ll have some more pictures for you tomorrow so be sure to come back and check them out! I don’t know if I can top the cat one though! LOL!

It’s Monday once again and that means that it’s time for the Paper Players challenge! This week Sandy asks us to use buttons on our project…

Paper Players #207

I decided that I would use my buttons in place of sequins on the card. My card begins with a base of Blushing Bride Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Lost Lagoon and adhered a strip of the Flower Pot Designer Series Paper down the left side. A strip of Gold Sequin Trim is adhered around the back before I mounted the background to the base. To create my tag I used my ruler to mark of the back and then my Paper Snips and 1/4″ Circle Punch. All of the stamped images and greeting are from the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set. I stamped the leaves in Garden Green and Mossy Meadow right on to the tag. The flowers are stamped in Tangerine Tango and Crushed Curry and cut out with the Flower Fair Framelits. The greeting is stamped in Night of Navy. I adhered the flower pieces and then the tag to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My buttons are from the Brights and Regals Designer Buttons and are adhered to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. I love the Lost Lagoon with the strip of Flower Pot DSP and Gold Sequin Trim! I think that it grounds the large tag nicely! Thank you for coming by to see my pictures and my card for this week’s Paper Players Theme challenge. I hope that you enjoyed the post today! Enjoy your Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 206

Oh, the weekend goes by so quickly! I guess time does fly when you’re having fun! I had a nice productive day yesterday, I spent a good portion of it in the Stampin’ Galley getting some but not all of my projects finished. I managed to get four cards made yesterday and in between I did some laundry and the dishes. Not an exciting day by any means but they are good to have every once in a while. It was a beautiful day here despite the fact that they said we would have some rain, that happened last night, the best time for rain to happen. I also got to FaceTime with my cousin Tracey in England for a while. I love catching up with her and it’s so nice to see her when we talk. Modern technology, gotta love it!

It’s Monday and that means that once again it’s time for the Paper Players challenge. Before I get to today’s card I wanted to thank ann for selecting me as her pick for Cut Above in last week’s Monochromatic Color challenge. You can see the winners post HERE and my original post HERE. Now on to this week, we have a sketch…

Paper Players #206

I knew that I wanted to frame something I just wasn’t sure what and then it came to me! My card starts off with a base of Daffodil Delight Card Stock. The background is a piece of Park Lane Designer Series Paper that I backed with a piece of Blackberry Bliss. I used the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Soft Suede and then another piece for the frame. My image/greeting is from the Well Worded Stamp Set and is stamped once in Old Olive on Whisper White, also cut out with the Ovals Collection Framelits, and again in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with my Paper Snips. Next up are a strip of Daffodil Delight and two strips of Old Olive that I flagged the ends on. I Then adhered the frame, flower and oval to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the Well Worded Set with the sentiments tucked inside the images and the colors and patterns in the Park Lane DSP are cool and fun! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge. Thank you for dropping by and I hope that you have a nice easy Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 205 & Freshly Made Sketches 145, Oh and more Pics!

Hello my friends! I am back home! My flight from Salt Lake City was uneventful, a welcome change from going out there! LOL! First, I apologize for not getting back to your comments in a timely manner, I did finish replying last night! Today is going to be a long one, we have our golf event at work and I’ll be there from 8:00am until 11:00pm. Kind of kills the week off! So, the last day of Convention was definitely the best day! I was randomly selected for a VIP Backstage Tour for me and three friends!! It was at 11:00am on Saturday and much to my delight Donna Griffith was our lovely tour guide! I took Wendy, Maggie and Brian with me. We got to see all of the goings on behind the scenes. Sterling and Sarah were in the green room so we got to say a quick hello to them. We also got to see Shelli who I have to say is one of the most genuine and sweetest people I have ever met. She chatted with us for a bit and then patiently posed with us through four mobile phones for pictures! We also had the pleasure of meeting the make-up artist, who’s name escapes me at the moment. She was great, very funny and beautiful! Here are a few pictures from out little adventure…

Shelli & the Gang

That’s the four of us with Shelli and the Production Manager.

JK Makeup

Me getting beatified! LOL!

Makeup Artist

The lovely master of making people look better than they really are!

Donna & I

The wonderful Donna, isn’t she a cutie?!

I really did have the best time at Convention. I will miss everyone but we’ll keep in touch and I can’t wait to see them all again!

Today I also have a double post! I needed to get my Freshly Made Sketches card in before the deadline and I also have my Monday mainstay, the Paper Players! First up is the Paper Players, they have a CAS Monochromatic challenge this week…

Paper Players #205

Did I need to see the feathers or the blues, nope! LOL! I started my card off with a base of Soft Sky Card Stock. The background is a piece of Whisper White and I stamped the leaves from the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set in Soft Sky, Pool Party and Lost Lagoon. I spritzed it with some Lost Lagoon and Soft Sky before adhering it to the base. The tag is a piece of Coastal Cabana that I punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and stamped the burst, also from the Kinda Eclectic Set, in Coastal Cabana. To create the feathers I stamped the Love Who You Are Stamp in Soft Sky, Pool Party and Lost Lagoon on the same color card stock and cut them out with the leaf from the Flower Fair Framelits. A quick score down the middle and some notches created with the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and they are done. The feathers were on one of Shelli’s cards during her presentation. They will have to do until I can get the new set from the Holiday Catalog! A pice of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that I dyed with Bermuda Bay Ink is adhered across the bottom of the tag. A few scattered 2013-2015 In-Color Designer Sequins complete my card. I love the Kind of Eclectic Set and am so happy to have it now and the feathers are fun and simple to make!

Paper Players 205-WM

Next up is my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches #145

As soon as I saw the sketch I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to show you some goodies from the new Holiday Catalog! The base of this card is also Soft Sky and I used the Dotty Angles Photopolymer Stamp Set to stamp the dots in Soft Sky right on the base. The middle Panel is a piece of paper from the All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper* Pack backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The wreath is from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is stamped in Pear Pizzaz, Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler. I cut out the wreath, bow (a piece of Red Glimmer Paper) and greeting (a piece of Gold Foil Sheet) using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits*. I assembled the wreath and then adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Two more pieces of Red Glimmer Paper are flagged and adhered under the right side of the wreath. I LOVE the new wreath and Framelits, so cool! The photopolymer makes it so easy to line up the elements and blues are my favorite colors for Christmas! I really hope that you enjoyed the pictures and double dose of cards today for the Paper Players and Freshly Made Sketches! Thank you very much for checking in to see what I’m up to and enjoy your Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 204

It’s the best Monday ever! Why you ask… I’m off from work today! I also was super productive yesterday and got almost all of my projects finished! I also worked on the apartment a bit more. I had planned to relax a little but the night got away from me as it usually does. I have to say that spending a good part of the day crafting is ok with me. I also got to Skype with my friend Wendy for bit! That was lots of fun! Sandy is supposed to stop by for lunch today and I’m hoping to see Andrew at some point. He is taking me to the airport tomorrow, such a good guy!

In the midst of my crafting today I made my Paper Players card for this week’s color challenge from LeAnne…

Paper Players #204

I definitely had to think about this one for bit but I finally came up with something and managed to use no white or vanilla card stock! Don’t be afraid! LOL! The base of the card is Blackberry Bliss Card Stock. I took a piece of Wisteria Wonder, trimmed it and the used the Stars from the Hearts & Stars Mask to apply some embossing paste to it. Next up is another piece of Blackberry Bliss that I cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelits and heat embossed a stamp multiple times from the Be the Star Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My stars are Lost Lagoon and are all cut out using the Stars Framelits. I popped them up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and the one in the middle has a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper that I punched out with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Mossy Meadow. I flagged the ends and adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional. A funky card for a funky color challenge. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge from LeAnne. Thank you for checking in and I’ll see you back here tomorrow for my SUO Challenges card! Have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 203 & Manhattan!

A very good Monday morning to you all! It’s not too bad is it after a three day weekend?! I hope that you enjoyed the Creation Station Blog Tour yesterday, we had some great projects for didn’t we? I’m happy to report that all of my stuff is out of the old apartment! It felt like that took forever! LOL! I cannot even explain the amount of pain my poor body is in. I’m going to try and relax for a few days this week, we’ll see how that goes! Rewind to Saturday, I did get some down time. I drove in and met up with my friend Kim and we headed over to Central Park to meet up with Andrew and the rest of Satellite Lane. They were there to sing for a proposal at the Bethesda Fountain. It was great! A large crowd gathered and thankfully the girl said yes! Here is a picture of the group with the happy couple…

Satellite Lane Bethesda

After the proposal Kim, Andrew and I headed over to the West Side. On our way we passed Strawberry Fields so I had to take a picture of Imagine for you…

Imagine

Kim was puppy sitting for some friends who were out of town for the weekend so had a few drinks and the headed out to dinner. We went to Gabriella’s and it was outstanding! Delicious Mexican food and really strong Margarita’s! Dinner and drinks for Andrew’s birthday, done! Here are Andrew and I at the table, it was the perfect day and they have outdoor seating!

Andrew & I Gabriellas

And here are all three of us. The waitress was nice enough to take the picture…

Kim, Andrew & I Gabriellas

After dinner we went back the apartment and chatted for a bit and then Andrew and I walked back over to the East Side through Central Park. I can assure you that I would not normally walk through the park after dark but I’m glad that I did, I got this great shot of the skyline…

Central Park View Night

A gorgeous evening in the city with my favorite people! It was capped off nicely by a nice ride home in the convertible. The perfect Saturday!

Now on to my post for today which is for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge from Nance…

Paper Players #203

Go to the beach! Alright then lets get started! My card begins with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. I adhered a piece of Brushed Silver Card Stock across the entire front of the card. The top part of my background is a piece of Coastal Cabana and I, gasp!, tore the bottom edge! LOL! I also wanted to give it some shimmer since it’s playing the part of water. I looked around the craft space and saw my “Vintage” Illuminate Refill and an extra Aqua Painter. I filled it with some rubbing alcohol and some of the Illuminate Ink, gave it a good shake and painted on some waves. The bottom part of the background is a piece of Crumb Cake that I stamped with the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Crumb Cake. Before I adhered it to the background I used some Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and a preview Stamp Set called Good Greetings from the upcoming Holiday Catalog. My shell is from the By the Tide Stamp Set and is stamped in Sahara Sand on Sahara Sand and cut out with my Paper Snips. I also brushed some of the Illuminate concoction on the shell. Finally I added a few Coastal Cabana 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins to the water for a little extra sparkle! A simple card that definitely takes me to the beach as I hope it did you! Thank you very much for coming by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge from Nance! I hope that you enjoyed my Manhattan pictures and your little peek at the new Stamp Set! Have a marvelous Monday everyone! 🙂

Paper Players 202

Moving continues. The first half of today was spent unpacking and organizing. I had a nice lunchtime surprise visit from my friend Kim and the munchkins. Kim bought my favorite veggie tuna wrap from the local deli and I smothered it in hot sauce. A delicious lunch and a welcome break. After lunch, I headed back to the old place to get more stuff, brought it back to the new house and repeated the morning’s tasks. Andrew came by in the evening to help bring more stuff back over and I got a phone call from my friend Brian who I haven’t seen in 3 and a half years, so we met at Starbucks for a little bit. Another welcome break! LOL! I finished off the evening with more unpacking and organizing, with help it always goes faster! Not a very exciting day, but at least I was productive!

Luckily though, I found some time in the day to make a card! That card is for this week’s Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from my friend Sandy…

Paper Players #202

I don’t know if you remember or not, but I’m a big fan of the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge, and there was a time that I did every box on the square. This time I opted for 7 of the 9. LOL! The base of my card is a simple piece of Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Sky that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is another piece of Whisper White and I stamped the leaves from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set in Mossy Meadow and the greeting is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement. I used the “Vintage” Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to notch out the two half circles on either side of the panel and tied a piece of Linen Thread in the notched out parts. The flower is from the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set, I stamped it once in Strawberry Slush and again in Daffodil Delight so I could cut out the center. I curled the petals and then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere both pieces to each other and the card. To get in my seventh box, I strategically placed some Basic Jewels Rhinestones around the card. I’m a huge fan of the way the Woodgrain Embossing Folder looks with any kind of floral image. I think it gives it a rustic, natural look. So there you have my card for the Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge from Sandy. And let’s not forget, this is a special card because it is the first one to come out of my new creative space! I hope you enjoyed the card, that you had a good weekend and a fun week ahead. Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂

Paper Players 201

Even though I had off from work on Friday that weekend flew by! I guess that the fundraiser on Friday night and all of the packing and painting ate it up! LOL! I did get a lot accomplished on Saturday and Sunday. Andrew has been a huge help and I could’t have gotten half of what I did get accomplished with out him! He’ll be back tonight for more! Don’t awesome friends make the world a much better place?! I’m lucky that I have so many! That includes all of you too! 🙂

It’s Monday and that means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This time Nance has given us a sketch challenge…

Paper Players #201

Fun and simple. As soon as I looked at it yesterday morning I knew which DSP and stamp set I wanted to use! I need that to happen, especially this week! My card begins with a base of Mossy Meadow Card Stock. The strip down the middle is a piece of paper from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. I used the Stampin’ Trimmer with the Tiny Wave Blade to give the edges some added interest. At the top I sponged a piece of the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with some Strawberry Slush Ink. On top of that is a piece of Strawberry Slush, I used my Paper Snips to flag both and the card stock is adhered to the glimmer paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Hello There Host(ess) Stamp Set and is stamped in Strawberry Slush for the border and Mossy Meadow for the greeting. I used the Starburst Framelits to cut out the border and the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch to punch out the greeting. Stampin’ Dimensionals also adhere them to the card and each other. For a little extra sparkle I randomly adhered some 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins to the card. I love the way the Dazzling Diamonds looks when you change the color! So cool! And sequins just make everything better don’t you think?! Thank you very much for coming by to see my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge. I love having you stop by and I hope that you all have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 200 & Pics!

Well, it was another gorgeous weekend here on Long Island! Sunny but not too hot just how I like it! I got lots of crafty things done yesterday and spent some time outside enjoying the weather. It was just too nice to be indoors all day! I hope the weather was nice by you and you got some outside time in too! Did you all enjoy the Creation Station Blog Tour yesterday? I hope that you got some inspiration for your new catalog goodies! I really need to order some of those Gift Card Holders, they are neat! Today I have some pictures for you! I did manage to take a few pictures while I was in Manhattan on Saturday. They are not very exciting but a little glimpse of what I get to see. The first one is of the elevated pedestrian walkway at Hunter College…

Hunter College

Pretty cool how it just goes across Lexington Avenue! The next one is of Bloomingdale’s which I’m sure you have all heard of…

Bloomingdales

Another Lexington Avenue Staple! It’s funny because before I went into the store I pictured it much bigger than it is. Next I took a really cool picture from under the Citibank Building…

Citibank Building

It’s one of my favorite buildings in the city. It’s on stilts! If you Google it you can see a lot of neat information about the construction. They had some problems in the beginning. I also like how the sun is reflecting off of the building next to it!

Remember the Blog Candy winner Karen? Well, she was so sweet and sent me a thank you card and a little gift! I love them both and think they are amazing! Here is the card and cute notepad using the Stamp Set A Happy Hooray that she won!

Thank you so much Karen! What a nice surprise to get in the mail! 🙂

Now we are on to today’s post. It’s for the Paper Players 200 challenge! Wow! I have been participating since challenge #78 and haven’t missed one! The ladies have chosen their favorites from the past 200 and you can then pick one of them! I went with the one that Nance choose…

Paper Players #200

I picked it because it was before I started playing! Yes, I used the Star Framelits again! LOL! I just can’t get enough of them! My card base is Basic Black Card Stock. The background is some Silver Foil Sheet that I embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two stars are from the Be the Star Stamp Set and are stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Stars Framelits. I cut out a piece of Vellum Card Stock with the Circles Collection Framelits to back the star and make it stand out a bit more. My greeting is form the Pictogram Punches Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut out with the Project Life Card & Labels Framelits. I punched out another piece of Silver Foil Sheet with the star from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack to go over the star on the greeting. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I really am loving the Star Framelits (promise I’ll put them aside for bit! LOL!) and the Bermuda Bay with the silver and black is a great combination, don’t you think?! I really hope that you enjoy my card for this week’s Paper Players 200 anniversary sketch challenge. Thank you very much for coming by to see what I’ve been up to and I hope you have a great Monday! 🙂

Paper Players 199 & Brooklyn

Yes, it’s Monday again but I had such a nice day yesterday I don’t even care! I headed into Manhattan around 7:45am and got there around 8:40, not a bad ride in at all! I met Kim at her apartment and we headed over to the Diner for some breakfast. I had some whole wheat pancakes and they were delicious! We then made our way to the subway to head downtown. The subway in the summer on the weekends is so nice, it took us 12 minutes to get from 86th Street to the Brooklyn Bridge stop on the 5 train. As soon as you come out of the subway the bridge is right there so off we went. It’s a pretty cool experience to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, you are up above the cars and there are amazing views of the city. I have a bunch of pictures, so many that I will post some today and some tomorrow! We wandered around in DUMBO for a little while and then had some ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, I had coffee and it was delicious! We decided that it was a nice day for a boat ride so we took the NY Waterway boat back to Manhattan. It goes up Brooklyn and then across to 34th Street. After we got off the boat we made our way over to the movie theater to see Maleficient. It was a great movie! Angelia Jolee is perfect as Maleficent. If you don’t know what it’s about it’s a retelling of Sleeping Beauty and it’s really done well. After the movies we headed back up to Kim’s neighborhood and had some Nick’s pizza for dinner and then I headed home. A pretty awesome day! And now for some pictures…

This is when you first start walking across to Brooklyn.

Here is me with Manhattan behind me. (In my Coastal Cabana shirt! LOL!)

Me again with the bridge behind me.

This is a pretty neat picture of the bridge with the skyline behind it. You can see the Freedom Tower too.

That’s the Manhattan Bridge.

And this is just a pretty neat picture of the skyline of lower Manhattan.

Tomorrow I’ll post some of the ones from the boat so be sure and come back! 🙂

I want to thank Ann Schach for choosing me as her pick for last week’s wedding challenge over at the Paper Players. You can see the winner’s post HERE and my original post HERE.

Now on to this week’s Paper Players challenge. Jaydee has a very patriotic one for us this week…

Paper Players #199

Red, White and Blue, I immediately thought of July 4th but also thought that a lot of other people would do that so I went a different route. My card starts off with a base of Real Red Card Stock. For the background I used the Darling Doily Thinlit to cut out a piece of Night of Navy and adhered it to the card and snipped off some of the left side. My tag is created with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the bottom corners are rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder. My greeting and “ice cream” are both from the Cupcake Party Stamp Set. The greeting is stamped in Night of Navy on the tag and the “ice cream” is heat embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Real Red and punched out with the Cupcake Builder Punch. The cone is punched out with the Pennants Punch and embossed with the Tiny Triangles Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Thanks to Linda for putting the idea into my head! A piece of Vintage White 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is tied through the top of the tag to finish the card. The icing from the Cupcake Party Set makes neat ice cream too don’t you think?! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Thanks you very much for coming by to see my card and share in my Sunday! Love having you stop by! Enjoy your day! 🙂
